Samsung i780 GPS fix for TomTom

-Start > Settings > External GPS > GPS Program Port: COM8

Hardware: COM9
Baud Rate: 4800

From the dialpad phone digit:

*#1472365#

From the menu at the bottom right select:

Settings > GPS > Operation: Standalone

Starting > Cold Start

TomTom Settings:

Settings > GPS > Nemea > Baud Rate 9600 and COM8

It's working..

Would you take the challenge to create a sollution for the i780?

Or an even a more interesting one - enabling the inner camera for skype-video-calls?

Samsung i780 use to have a default alarm on wm6.1, I found it really very useful. I have copied it from 6.1 rom, it runs the app but alarm doesnt work. So can anyone help please. May be would be good to extract a .cab package from the 6.1 pllease. I am sure so many will be benefitted. Thanks in advance. :)


I am talking about the alarm in the programs, this is not default windows alarm. This is a separate app that comes with samsung i780 6.0 or 6.1 in programs folder. hope its clear now. And i am using this cooked rom which doesnot have that app in startmenu>programs. is it possible to dump that app in a cab installation file for my 6.5 rom?

First i have a middle east i780; hardware differences make the experience different.

1. Rom is very stable;and i have stress tested it..more stable that RC4 refresh by iertiax which was a bit shaky on my handset.
a bit slow but stable..i guess the standard page pool is used.. Please do not increase it...i will trade stability for performance any given days..other 6.5 roms are horrible crashers.
2. CA analog clock comsumed 15% cpu cycles at my set. had to remove from the startup folder.
3. GPS locks very fast..but please remove google maps as new version appear every day..Also igo 8.3 worked with no tweaking at all..
4. Installed Opera 9.7 stopped working after 4 hours..locks up at the startup screen with the moving bar..had to install another on on top of it.
5. no need for the included finger keyboard (IMHO) . i disabled it.. i have meduim sized fingers and was difficult to use it..any ways i780 has hw keyboard..
6. bluetooth works very well with my stereo sony-ericsson headset.

Overall the rom made me use back my i780 after i retired it as my backup fone.

new SIP installed FingerKB (It installed in windows folder, not program files folder... so for adding new skins go to windows/skin/ folder) it also have SIPchange so you can change your default SIP at restart (FingerKB by default)
NullKB removed... I can't install it :(

(EFN kitchen modified to cook wm 6.5... I enable option in it... default samsung apps are separated in packages but they remain unmodified... The SYS is 21812 SYS but it not a clean one... it contain my stock of sys so there are some packages from other builds and some modules are patched from other build... if you want a clean one do a search at xda or ppcgeeks. I'm sure you'll find it)
for how to cook it read readme.txt and readme.pdf for details...

I think best would be not to include any additional application with the rom. Because apllications are always updating. so this is just a suggestions, and there is lots of files in the windows directory folder. if the number offiles can be decreased the performance would be great!!! the start menu could be transpparent. the today theme BG doesnt change. Can you please add samsung alarm in your next rom. But thank you for making this rom. Its nice :)

Hey guys,

like a lot of other people, I also had the annoying problem with this great rom that I could not get gpsgate to work. It would always tell me to softreset in order to install virtual port drivers. So for all of you who have the same problem try this solution (I got the idea from a really old thread were someone also had problems getting gpsgate to work):

1. Get a tool with which you can edit the startup sequence of programs (like sktools)
2. Move the entry VPortBoot.exe (\Windows\StartUp\VPortBoot.exe) to the first place

Voilá, it works and with it using TomTom is finally possible. Hope this works and helps other people too.

Keep up the great work with wm 6.5

i haven't set up the internet connection yet but will do, i'll let you know if the problem still persist
honestly i really like this verson much better than the leancut, mostly because it has the quickmenu and more stable
but yeah i hope that it will fix the battery life because normally i780 can run for 3 days in standby mode without a problem, but when i install the rom it only last half a day in standby mode, so i dont' know if its because of the internet connection, titanium soft or because it just turn off the black light when you press power instead of putting the phone on standby

i like krizky's rom "i780_wm6.5_v21815_WM7project" because it is stable and has all the application built into it.

Was wondering if i can use the current rom and update it to the latest wm 6.5 build 23047?

Anybody can teach or guide me on how to do it? I have downloaded the latest 23047. I tried to replace the sys and xip files in the current kitchen but when i tried to flash it just stop at the mouse cursor.

I uninstalled this rom because watching videos is very slow... when i recive sms and click "Notification" and try to open the sms message, the system blocks. Now I'm using other Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM dowloaded in this forum that is very fast.

in windows 7 with xp mode, it is smooth with mirage. I burned i780PDXIB1 rom succesfully. I assume that you didn't attach usb to xp mode.

I found that this rom eat the battery very fast when connected the bluetooth handfree...

Just connected the handfree without any phone call.
It used 50% battery in 3 hours....

Hey dudes!
You do all wrong. On XP is this way:
1. Make Activesync connection.
2. TURN OFF PHONE. Dont disconnect USB cable.
3. Run Mirage. Open Firmware. Press DETECT.
4. Hold "BW" and "ENTER" press POWER.
5. Phone starts downloading automatically!
NOTICE: Dont flash you phone from front USB ports, it can cause error during flashing. Always do this from rear USB

It more looks like i780PAFHJ1 (giving the full version since I am not sure what is exactly the version).

got a new cooked rom (i780.wm6.5_28205(23519)_wwe_96dpi) working perfectly well for me.
