Well I just get bored with the default titanium... so I cook one with a WM 7 themes... hope you all like it...

What's in it:

IB1 based OEM, Most apps has been removed...
320x320 resource WM7 project skins... see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=504716 for details...
installed .netCF3.7, flash lite 3.1, Opera 9.7 (Copresed by upx), esmertec jbed (compresed), XnView (compresed), goggle maps (compresed), Quick menu 2.8, FtouchSL 2.10 (unregistered) for finger scrolling support on other apps, facebook 1.007 (compresed), ....
new SIP installed FingerKB (It installed in windows folder, not program files folder... so for adding new skins go to windows/skin/ folder) it also have SIPchange so you can change your default SIP at restart (FingerKB by default)
NullKB removed... I can't install it :(
installed Titanium Plugin (CAnalog Clock, Titanium Weather, CComm, Opera, Fave Contact, Notification, CLauncher )... you can disable/enable the plugin in Start/Titanium/CHome Editor... read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=511052 for details...

(EFN kitchen modified to cook wm 6.5... I enable option in it... default samsung apps are separated in packages but they remain unmodified... The SYS is 21812 SYS but it not a clean one... it contain my stock of sys so there are some packages from other builds and some modules are patched from other build... if you want a clean one do a search at xda or ppcgeeks. I'm sure you'll find it)
for how to cook it read readme.txt and readme.pdf for details...

Special thanks to inertiax3 for teach me to port the xip :) and all the guys at ppcgeeks for the sys and xip...

Very nice work! I've had a test 21202 WWE build to see if the mouse bug persisted - and yes, it's still there.. even with IB1 OEM.. were it not for this bug I would jump over to WM65 no doubt :(

I think will have to wait for the official builds for samsung to fix this at least for omnia... I hope it will be released soon... (not holding my breath at this moment...)
Mainly I post this treads because many people curious about it... I think it's not for daily use (yet...)... I really hope that someone find a fix for this...

I got the 21202 build yesterday... haven't touch it yet though... got other things to do... maybe soon I'll post it...

Very nice and smooth. Love the graphics and finger frendly scroll in Mail, Contacts and Programs.

Just only fixing up the phonebook scrolling it would be perfect.

very nice look, I test wifi, install WLM and go to test Garmin mobile XT tomorrow with my car.
WLM 10.6.0034.0800 work nice on wifi and gprs. but there are lot screen bug, when you go to in the menu and select a program, the program name stay on the screen.

For the mouse rendering issue, no. But we have a walk around to avoid the rending issue when mouse is disabled.

Enable & Disable the mouse will fix the rending issue. So I put two shortcuts on windows/startup folder of chgFigureMouse.exe to enable & disable the mouse once.

Since i am in company now and cannot upload files, but i think you should have chgFigureMouse.exe.

Just wanted to add that sector (from modaco) might have removed the mouse completely in later builds, that's why there is no reference to it in the registry..

Hopefuly Samsung will release WM65 for the Omnia at least..

I see, but still, it's strange that even Omnia have no registry of mouse driver, but the mouse still works fine. I also checked the startup folder, there is no mouse related shortcuts.

The finger mouse issue is annoying, but it's still too useful to remove and works fine if you don't scroll. I've just assigned chgFingerMouse to a hardware button and deactivate as required.

Otherwise, great job on the ROM - this build does seem genuinely usable and I'm tempted to stick with 6.5 permanently. Look forward to updates!

XIP means "eXecute In Place".. the way I see it, it's a set of driver and support DLL's and some registry files that are loaded-up after the bootloader is run, that is, when you see the SAMSUNG logo (before the animation)..

1. XIP is present in every ROM.. there's no normal version.. i.e. build 21198 has a 21198 XIP.. build 21202 should have XIP 21202..

When first installed, I got the gradient blue and orange background in the today screen...
But then i changed to other themes, and now I can't seem to be able to go back to the default..It seems to be the Mirage one, but the cool resources from wm6.5 aren't included, only seem to be using the blue classic one..
Is this a bug?

I guess you can't. A bug on today themes support. But you can use any wallpaper you like with 320x320 resolution and it would fill the screen.

Sorry, no.. the i907 LCD/GPS/MOUSE are not the same as the i780.. you need to change the XIP, OEM for sure

The first one is a flashable rom and the second one is SYS folder and the i780 xip if you want to cook it yourself :)...

1. for the slide to unlock it no... u must use the screen to slide it but if u referring on entering your pin, u can press ur shift key twice and entering your pin... It works for me...

2. I forgot to tell you... I use i780 extra button for this rom, I remaps some buttons so the data call manager (long press GPS key) will shows google maps... also the icon on the settings will shows google maps... the default data call manager shortcut is in the start->samsung apps

other remapped keys are
camera button -> chgfingermouse
long press OK button -> TaskFacade
Message button -> 780cursor
Message hold button -> Messaging

I'm afraid I have to stay focus and preparing for it and for that I must cut my cooking time (that was one of the reason I give my SYS and XIP instead).

Yes, if the screen is lock, the incoming call shows a bigger pic and you can slide to answer or ignore. But it is not the same as the 6.5 experia, maybe is the phone canvas thing.

The wallpaper donot show up because there are no i780 compatible picture in that theme. You can use CabManager to open the *.tsk file and put a file named "stwater.png" into the "Files" section.

Attached one theme from my 21202 rom, download the zip file and extract the files into "Windows" folder of your i780.

When the screen is lock, incoming call will trigger the new call answering screen where you can see the caller pic and can slide to answer to ignore.
However, all calls are unknown even though it is called from a known contact.
If the screen is not lock, the usual call notification works.

Another thing is I can't sign in to myphone. I have registered with the beta and I have double check that my signin id and pssword is correct but it always complained that either my id, password are wrong or I am not registered. I encountered the same problem on inertiax3 6.5 rom. Any comments ??

For bug #1, it's a known bug of 6.5. However, it should not present every time.
For bug #2, it's because the ROM author use the default myphone package(Skybox) to build the rom. Even you re-install the new version of myphone, it will not help to fix the problem. As far as I know, the only fixing of this bug is to create a OEM package by the new version of myphone and rebuild the ROM.

Myphone do work on 6.1. But cannot work on 6.5 rom if built using Skybox package, at least I never get it work. After I build rom with OEM package by cab file from microsoft site. It works fine.

It is an annoying bug for all wm6.5 rom on i780 (and maybe Omnia).:mad:
Simply disable the mouse and change it to 4 way directional mode.
You can also assign the app chgfingermouse to a hot key for easy access.

Why don't you give it a try. It is just as fast as 6.1, more finger friendly, new titanium today, new lock screen and a fresh new look. Plus, all my old apps work.
There are some bugs though, as you can see from the post here, but nothing really big deal.

You are right, sync schedule of "as item arrive" (direct push) doesn't seem to work. But Auto sync based on schedule (like every 5 mins) works for me.

I don't use direct push as it consume too much battery power. Sync every 5 mins is good enough for me.

On the note of email, I don't get email notification sound if the unit is on standby, but the tone of email notification will play if the LCD is on. Any thoughts??

WM6.5 clearly isn't the finished article yet though and the mouse driver graphics conflict is annoying (but not enough to stop me using the i780's best feature).

Thanks for a great ROM. I've been using a few ROMs on my i780 since WM6.1 and indeed this is a much faster room :)

Just one thing that's really bothering me (apart from not able to change to other themes :( ), my conversation screen hangs after replying text message. I had like 1,200 messages in my conversation. It's working fine though if the database is clean ^.^ I'm not sure if this can be fixed? hehe..

This is the mouse graphical corruption I mentioned before.

Simply go to settings and enable mouse mode and change back to 4 way directional mode again.
Or assign chfingermouse to a button and activate it.

Oh must qualify... I flashed the official release Samsung ROM first to get their Radio... then flashed the Kirzky ROM for WM6.5 PDA.

I also do not have this problem. The icon work perfectly. When not connected, it showed 3G. But when connected, it showed H for HSDPA.

I have not used WiFi for a long time since I sign up for M1 50GB data plan;), so cannot tell you about the WiFi icon.

I flashed my phone and boot part to IB1, if that makes a difference.

i agree with u on the theam colour, it changes but change back to the the green... and sometime it changes back to the one u choose, the theam colour is irretic....

Yeah, Google has a way of getting through even when nothing else can connect. I don't have a data plan at the moment, tho.

Yup - there's a nice calculator included in this ROM. And actually - after using the free G-Alarm - don't think I'll go back to Samsung alarm - the G-Alarm features are amazing!

yes the port splitter do not work with this rom.... i tried the map king, not working..

GPSGate does not work either (it can't effectively create a virtual COM port).

The "wallpaper theme problem" is not a bug - simply, the themes supplied in this ROM are prepared for QVGA (320x240 / 240x320).
The theme mainly consists of at least one image + reg. settings (colors, info about how many images are there). The image is usually called stwater.gif (no matter that it may be a PNG image, JPG image, etc.). It is used for all screen resolutions. If there are more images, their names are usually stwater_WIDTH_HEIGHT.png, where WIDTH and HEIGHT are screen dimensions in pixels.
Thus, in order to 'fix' the themes, one has to ADD stwater_320_320.png to the tSK file (which is a CAB file actually).

Anyway, to have the wallpaper changed without modifying the themes, use good ol' Microsoft Pictures & Videos app ( \windows\pimg.lnk ). It always works :)

Like we said. We don't use Garmin since it does not include our country. We use other GPS apps that utilizes GPSProxy or Port Splitter or GPSGate.

Function is the black and white button, enter button is at the opposite side of the keyboard.

To go back to wm 6.1 you only have to flash a wm 6.1 rom using the same procedure.

To go back to wm6.1 you can use official roms (complete packages) or cooked (or originals extracted from the complete package) .bin file which upgrades only the pda part:)

Why not try to flash it with the official ROM from Samsung first and see what happen.

He has got an epix, not an i780 so he can t flash i780 roms;)

This rom is quite stable with few things to be improved:

- while the phone is locked or in suspend mode; incoming calls cannot be identified not until you've answered it or hung-up.

- i also tried the hard reset using the keypad combination; after reformatting, system became unstable. better reflash than to do a hard reset.

- it got some kind of memory leak (probably) even all task are closed from the task manager, Garmin Mobile XT still reports not enough memory. Reboot needed to clear it up.


Some problems may be due to the WM 6.5 system but so far i like this rom compared to the original rom from what it was.

Mouse pointer problem hasnt been experienced that much since i always use the 4-way navi, i just created a shortcut for "chgfingermouse" to be able to adjust it after a reboot.

bluetooth problem has not been experienced even using bluetooth PAN for internet sharing. file transfers and others have no problem till now.


The ROM seems to be more stable if you flash the phone first with official samsung DXIB1 rom.

Yes, you ll lose everythig but you can backup your files (sms, emails etc.) with programs like pimbackup

Tried this ROM on my i780, but apart from the usual bugs like mouse, my MS exhange cannot sync. I was ok when the ROM was OEM but have not been able to sync using any new cooked rom.

last night my samsung i780 phone dead after i flashing it with Mirage. i had choose each file like boot.bin , pda.bin and last phone.bin
all flash progress success except part of phone. it says cannot create port ..... "bla..bla..bla...."

modem driver i've installed before, n how to boot to safe mode i've understand.
many ways i've tried, but nothing happen to my phone part. it's still dead.

In my case, calendar works out of the box , but the device doesn't recodnize bluetooth hardware.The notification 'Problem with bluetooth hardware' displays whenever i try to add a new bluetooth device. And Bluetooth connection icon doesn't display in comm manager.

The bluetooth option is not present in Wireless Manager (Just Wifi and Phone).
Trying to start bluetooth from Settings-Connection shows an error problem with hardware.

That's all I remember, I'm back on WM6.1 right now.

in the SIP I add FingerKB and NullKB (modded icon) an it also have SIPchange so you can change your default SIP at restart (FingerKB by default)

The rom is amazing!! The only bug that a see is in titaniun when disconnecting the the data it doesn´t turn off only in the comm.
Still the best 6.5 by far!

I have the official 6.1 binary already installed, branded i780PXBHK2 (both PDA and PHONE).


Is this version compatible with the 6.5 beta 21812, AND the Mirage_LV_v1.8.exe updater?
Do I need to do the "russian upgrade" first, or can I go directly for the beta?

My phone is brand new. so first updated with this rom (this is first time i flased my device) http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/i780/index.jsp

U must update with latest rom from samsung (probably same thing as flashing with russian rom)

then i downloaded rom from this thread, installed samsung driver, active sync (my XP computer, vista hav some issues i read somewhere)

- run Mirage Updater: http://rapidshare.com/files/131512734/Mirage_LV_v1.8.exe.html
- select PDA in Mirage updater
- Select i780XXXXXX.bin
- Wait until Mirage Updater finishes checking the bin file
- Press Detect
- Take OUT the battery (MUST!) and then put it back
- Switch on the phone while holding the ENTER and FUNCTION buttons (ALT BUTTON)
- Wait until you see the boot shows some messages
- Then Plug in the USB cable
- It should begin downloading automatically and once done you can disconnect your i780
- DONE!


It worked for me. i dont know about others. Do it your own risk!!!!

2nd: how can i add or delete items from today screen as there is no option left to change the today screen

MOUSE bug is due to us not having newer OEM drivers... we must wait for Samsung..

the mouse bug yeah ... gottha wait for an official release of oem driver :(

to add and delete items on titanium open Start/Titanium/CHome Editor. You can enable/disable the panel
if you referring on adding some today plugin, you cant without disabling Titanium (windows default) first...

and for the SMS button... I remap it to 780 cursor (so you can have an actual dpad on your i780 by pressing 2 for up button, 4 for left button, 6 for riht button, 8 for down button)... the SMS link still there but it relpaced by SMS hold...

from this post i understand that theme change bug stands still

BUG REPORT : in 21812 when you change the theme , wallpaper doesn't change.
This bug comes from 21728 ROM.

I'll gonna look for that...
maybe because the clasicblue_stwater_320x320.png is the same with default_stwater_320x320.png and I dont have any wallpaper for other backgound...

if you referring on adding some today plugin, you cant without disabling Titanium (windows default) first...

and for the SMS button... I remap it to 780 cursor (so you can have an actual dpad on your i780 by pressing 2 for up button, 4 for left button, 6 for riht button, 8 for down button)... the SMS link still there but it relpaced by SMS hold...

There are ROM updates for Samsung Saga and Epix - similar phones for USA market. Maybe we could try mouse or other OEM stuff from those ROMs.

I think the application ALARM included in 6.0 rom is very good, can you please include that application in your next rom pls. It runs very smoothly. I dont like to install many programs, its good to hav it installed in the rom. Thanks

decrease of performance maybe due to the analog clock, you can disable it in CHome Editor... also some program is compressed by upx for more space in the rom it cost some memory drain, as long you not running too many apps at the same time i think is fine... I'm running 21819/20 now and it seems faster than this rom but i still cant fix the sip thingy, so ill post it when its fixed (well the 23001SYS build is out now going to work on that now)... please be patient..

emmm... I haven't found any .net problem... some apps I installed in the rom need .net to run and it run just fine (notepad, ftouchsl, fingerKb setup, chome editor, ReStart)... can you post the working .netCF3.7? maybe there is some incomplete module from my stock modules...
anyway .NetCF3.7 supposed fix .NetCF3.5 compatibility with .netcf2.0 (it basically the same with .NetCF3.5 with .NetCF2.0 support) what software incompatibility that sector mean?

for the manila 2d it cost 8mb of storage... :( if i install it i must remove other apps witch i don't waned to...

(EFN kitchen modified to cook wm 6.5... I enable option in it... default samsung apps are separated in packages but they remain unmodified... The SYS is 21812 SYS but it not a clean one... it contain my stock of sys so there are some packages from other builds and some modules are patched from other build... if you want a clean one do a search at xda or ppcgeeks. I'm sure you'll find it)
for how to cook it read readme.txt and readme.pdf for details...

ROM looks stable every thing exactly working fine and more important is your rom is B1 based and i like that firmware ;
only issue is its not very snappy and I thought reason behind it is number of files in widows directory you have 2300+ files there ideally is should be around 1800. I ma not criticizing you ; I really appreciate your work its awesome ; its my suggestion if possible thne to do some cleanup in windows directory and reduce the number of file; you will feel the difference ;

This Windows is beautiful...this icons...this scrool bars...this shadows under menus...but the really problem is...videos... All my videos is very slow in this rom with TCPMP. I've tried all kind of video driver and the MP4 videos is slow. Does somebody have the same problem with this ? I'll have to convert all my videos for 15 frames per second and a low bitrate to wacth videos here! Sory for my bad english!

Hi there,

I own a I780 french version (with azerty keyboard).

I'm working on a french version of the 6.5 21728.

I have a complete 21728 MUI package and I've changed SYS files, registry and initflashfiles.dat (inside created dump folder).

Unfortunately, when the device starts up, it hang whith a black screen and a mouse cursor in the middle.

I feel pretty dumb with all the things needed to have a custom rom :o
