Automated Metro PCS WAP and Arcsoft CABs for Windows Mobile CDMA Devices.
Motorola Q's DO NOT support Arcsoft so DO NOT install those CABs, you may only use the Carrier CAB..
I have added a new Version 5.2.32.2R1 and added Metros changes to my old (original) CABs.
1: Please delete/overwrite/rename the IOTA folder in device memory/program files (if exists, usually stock ROMs)
2: Please delete the HTC Guardian shortcut or equivalent from device memory/windows/startup folder (if exists, usually stock ROMs) and reboot your device.
3: Install my Security Policy Lifter CAB (http://www.4shared.com/file/130221820/fe801584/Ryan_Mogul_Security_Policy_Lifter.html) (you may or may not need this depending on the ROM you use) and reboot your device.
4: Now choose a CAB to install your options and explanations are below. Obviously reboot your device after installation.
The HTC Titan MMS Fix versions I only found needed on a HTC Titan with a Stock ROM. Most custom ROMs including Mine dont have the Default Connection string issue. MMS always works.. So you can user the "Other" versions if using a Titan with a custom ROM or another WM CDMA device. The Metro Carrier CAB is for people that just want to set up their data Connection on Metro PCS *it is not required for my cabs that have WAP in the name* . You dont have to do anything but install. No deleting any registry settings or connections for all of these CABs! They do all the work for you.
For the CABs with WAP or the Carrier CAB all you have to do after reboot is make sure phone is unplugged and open internet explorer. Navigate to a real page like yahoo.com and a prompt will come up. Enter your 10digitnumber@mymetropcs.com and password is "metropcs" lowercase and no quotes. Blank domain, click save password. Then OK, or Done.
If you are going to try several of them just make sure to uninstall old CAB before new one. Easy.
Also if you are going to use these for another Carrier just remember that each Arcsoft of mine has the MetroPCS SetMdn fix in the start up folder. It woulnt hurt you but may as well get rid of it if not using Metro PCS.

Ryan Mogul Metro PCS Carrier CAB (http://www.4shared.com/file/127239636/f5bf93b5/RyanMogul_Metro_PCS_Carrier.html) <--Just sets up your Metro PCS Data Connection
These CABs totally blow away any others created before. I spent a lot of time on these. A little taste of everything for everyone. Here is the other great thing about these CABs and they are the first of its kind. You do not have to edit your registry first! You do not have to delete any existing Data Connections! My CABs take care of all that work.
For example when I tested my new method out I created a few dummy connections using my phone. I also went into the registry HKLMS arcsoft and added a bunch of bogus keys. I then changed my connection to one of the bogus ones. Top and Bottom networks were bogus. Then I installed my Cricket WAP and Arcsoft 5_0_31_7 (non Titan Fix version my ROMs dont need default connection fix to operate properly). The CAB totally deleted all existing connections with the exception of the ones that are supposed to be there. My work network, secure wap, internet, my isp etc.. And it installed the data connection ready to activate using the browser like normal. Then I checked the Arcsoft keys and the bogus ones were gone. Everything was how its supposed to be.
The point is with all of these CABs you dont have to do anything but install to device memory and sit back let it do all the work. Absolutely great!
If it doesnt install soft reset your device and try again. Do not check messages first just reboot and install.
If it still doesnt install try another CAB, your Stock NOOB ROM is probably affecting your ability to install such CABs.

Well, you got me one step closer. I can now send emails via Gmail but still not internet. I check all my setting and I'm fairly sure I've got them set correctly. Any ideas? Whenever I try to hit IE, it dials the #777 connection I set up and it says connecting... then locating.... then... this page can't be opened because the connection has been lost. I updated my PRL (i believe it's 2002). Any ideas?
Thanks again.

Wow!! I found a copy of R4R.... omfg... it's so sick. I love it. the interface is so dope. I flashed it, hard reset, and ran the metropcs carrier cab... still not net. It must be a setting I'm messing up. I went through and made sure that everything was my number and nothing said sprint on my nam, w.ip. and all that but something tells me that there's something on that profile that should be nulled out. can anybody tell me what should be filled in and what should be empty (or zeroed out) in the settings?

Here is what I can suggest for you. The obvious things have to be set up right like PST settings. I would consult with udfxrookie as my CAB got him out of his jam with Metro PCS. Ask him about the PST settings and also you may have to Un-Authenticate and Re-Authenticate as described in my Cricket PST settings thread. Just use the Metro Values instead of the Cricket values. The HDR auth & PPP username and Password part.
This is a PM from udfxrookie
Yeah, carrier cab worked out perfect, back online and MMS settings are up and running, thanks again so much. Your a lifesaver
Now after making sure your Metro PCS PST settings are correct. Was the first thing you did when you are done flashing the phone and didnt touch a single thing (settings etc..) did you install MY Metro Carrier CAB and wait a little while then soft reset?
If that was fine then after the soft reset did you make sure your Phone WAS NOT plugged in to the Computer before attempting to access the Internet on the Phone to set up the @metropcs.com and password crap? The Phone needs to be unplugged from PC as when the Phone is plugged in its using your Home PC's internet connection and will not set up right.
After these steps you should be set to jet. Only other thing I can think of is you may NOT have a Data plan with Metro PCS, or may need to have the account refreshed. Let us know how it worked out.

Thanks loads for the help. I'm about to try the CAB again.
Wait.... what do you mean by ?go into IE and enter your name and password"? Where do you enter that at? I entered that into my connection info but not my proxy info.
Also... how do you get to the epst area with your ROM? My dialer code (##778#) isn't working now. Did I mess something up?

Make sure your phone is unplugged from Computer for next step. That is open internet explorer on the phone and navigate to a real webpage. yahoo.com etc.. then a prompt will come up telling you what to do, enter your 10digitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com , password is metropcs. Make sure to click save password. Then that should be it.
You dont have to enter the proxy or anything... Both of my cabs already do that!! You may have to go into select networks and make the top drop down menu My work network, and Bottom one MetroPCS, you can fiddle around with those until you achieve what you need.
And about going into EPST use the diagnostic shortcut in start bar/programs/diagnostic..
You probably have smart dial on thats why you are having problems. Try ##778 call, ##778# call. If you cant get in with all three suggestions then idk. Reading my threads would of already told you this knowledge as well. I didnt even know you are using MY ROM. Here is what you said a couple posts ago, and R4R is not my ROM Wow!! Which version of MY ROM are you using? sprint, verizon, cricket etc... I have a metro pcs ROM. There are links in my ROM threads, there is a heavy version and light. Like the rest of my ROM's

Ryan
just wanted to know if metropcs will know that im using sprint mugol as a phone instead of their phone if i flash my mugol using your rom and carrier cab? I'm thinking of switching over from sprint to metropcs. I want to try their first month free first before I make the switch because I want to know if that will cause any trouble. I like the $45 plan they have. Others who have metropcs if you can give me feedback on this as well that would great too, my sprint is expiring this month on 22nd and ive been itching on switching somewhere else.
Thanks :D

I had sprint for several years thru my family's business and was never really impressed with the service. The business closed due to the crappy economy and I ended up having to get a metro. signed up for the unlimited talk/text plan and bought their samsung slider. I like the service and have recently learned that ppc could be flashed over. I now have the sprint mogul fully operational with mms and web and hands down I love it....everyone who sees my phone thinks it is cool as hell. looking to upgrade to touch pro in the near future. If u live in an area that offers metro then go for it. it might b a pain in the ass to get them to put the smartphones esn on their network but just go to one of the smaller stores and offer the worker a few bucks to put the esn in as a razor v3....that what i did.

Yea I agree, if trying to activate a Mogul on almost any CDMA Carrier you might want to lie to them and say your phone is a Motorola V3C, or if that particular Carrier doesnt have a Motorola V3C then find out what phone they carry that has 3G EVDO and tell them you are using that phone. This way their will be no problems obtaining EVDO or in some cases not being able to put the phone on the account.
While I am in here, I have updated the Metro Carrier CAB's because I noticed that a value was set that tells you when a text has been read by the other person. I had thought I didnt include that value but I guess I had a lot to do that day.
The CAB's are updated with Working Dialer Codes, and will get rid of that annoying System Administrator message letting you know your text was received and read. If you do not want to re-download the CAB then navigate to this reg entry and change the Value from 1 to 0.

Also for those with a Mogul, I have a fully tested WAP/MMS Metro ROM that I cooked (in my ROM threads), you do NOT need a carrier cab or any edits. The ROM is fully programmed for WAP/MMS all you have to do is activate the internet first while phone is unplugged.. Like you have to on any Custom Carrier Cooked ROM..

so you mean they really can't detect what kind of phone it is through ESN? That's what I was worried about because when I log in to sprint it has a picture of what kind of phone I'm currently using so they know. That is interesting and at the same time exciting. Ohh can't wait for my contract to end. I saw a couple of small stores in my area about 4 or 5 think.
Do they allow swapping the phone during the free month so atleast I can be really sure it'll work with my mugol? I called their CS # line and the CS sounds really dull as if she doesn't care and keeps telling me she can't do nothing at all.

I found problems with both of my Metro cabs and they are now fixed. Just make sure to delete any existing connections before installing a cab.
The problem was it not provisioning right and the web prompt never coming up asking you for your information. I got that sorted out so those that tried this and it failed. Try it again.

Even if you ROM a phone to Metro, how do you activate when Metro doesnt have the ESN in their system?
RyanMogul
6th May 2009, 05:04 PM
Call Metro and give them your ESN, duh.
Its a good idea to have the phone activated before using a custom ROM but it is not totally needed. You can still program PST or OTA programming after flashing a custom ROM.

Metro doesnt allow you to activate an ESN when it doesnt exist in their system.
A metro flash supposedly ads it.

Nobody ever said to tell the Carrier exactly what type of phone you are using. Everyone in the PPC world usually knows to lie and say they have a Motorola V3C (which has EVDO), or if the Carrier you are using does not have a V3C available then you have to find out and say an EVDO phone that they have available. As long as you dont throw up any red flags to them you should be ok with telling them the phone is... (The EVDO phone that Carrier has available for use that you found out the name of) and your ESN number.

No problem I am glad you like the ROM.
The SID part my ROM doesnt touch that memory region of the phone which is PST settings. The network connection? My ROM's already come programmed with that information. All you have to do after first flash and initial boot up is make sure phone is UNPLUGGED then navigate to a real webpage and a prompt will come up telling you to enter your 10digitnumber@mymetropcs.com ETC... Enter your metro password, blank domain, and click save password then OK. That sets up the network connection. There is no need to google anything besides PST settings for all of my ROM's. They come fully programmed for WAP(network connection), and MMS(multi-media messages)
How to access the Diagnostic programs, PST, Dmrouter, and Fieldtrial are all the same on my ROM's(except my sprint version uses a post fix). I do not use a Post-Fix which is instead of pressing call button you enter the last digit # and its like pressing the call button. That way there is no accidental programming.
The PRL is something you have to get on your own as well as my ROM's do not touch that memory region of the phone which is Service Programming (PST) There isnt a custom ROM out there that does.

First, thank you so much for your hard work and making life easier for us MetroPCS users. I am out of state and really hosed my connections after establishing a wifi connection for my internet connection... this will make it easier when I get off the plane in Cali.
As for the ESN issue, many have tried, many have failed. Since the implementation of Houdini, it is no longer necessary to resort to illegal methods in order to get your ESN into their system. Althouh an ESN can be added manually, employees can be terminated for doing so. Many people who have bypassed the initial flashing procedure and attendant fee, have been charged the $47 flashing fee once it is discovered that their foreign ESN was entered into the system. Since the only legal way to accomplish this is by flashing, they automatically charge the fee if it hasn't been paid already.
That said, not every store will do it, but keep trying ... because if it's on Houdini's list, then someone can get it done.
As for the Omnia mms, try the MetroPCS Flashing and Modding subforum in the MetroPCS forum at howardforums.com... they seem to have accomplished successfully everything except remote desktop.
Again, thank you for your help and great contribution. xoxo
PS It has been determined that internet will only work on 1x ... it will not work in areas offering EVDO; you must either update (downdate LOL) to a 1x prl or configure the handset to choose 1 x signal... the latter may require a registry edit. A quick search will provide the solution.

will this rom work on an att 8525?
This won't work on the AT&T 8525 (AKA HTC Hermes) since that phone is GSM and MetroPCS is CDMA. If you want to use an HTC phone on Metro, you'll have to get a CDMA version (Sprint, Altell, Verizon) and have it flashed to metro, then you can install the ROM and have full internet/MMS/etc.

Tip for you both. This thread is not about a ROM. This thread is about a Metro PCS Carrier CAB..
Wagonis is right though about the CAB, it will not work for you because that phone is GSM and Metro PCS only supports CDMA phones.. You would need a CDMA Windows Mobile Device for this CAB to help you out with using Metro PCS. You would also have to configure the phones PST settings for Metro PCS yourself. A CAB cannot do that.

Ha! Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't even notice he wrote rom in there, all I saw was the 8525 and that raised an immediate flag.
Quick question about this CAB though, I've used it on a 6700 and the 6800 and it worked on both, what are the chances that it will also work on the 6900? Has that been tested/attempted?

It should work on any CDMA Windows Mobile device. Provided all the usual steps are followed (pst settings, etc..)

For the full programmer same steps as above but you need to delete all of the existing (if any) arcsoft settings/registry settings.
Cool, thanks for the info, this is good to know in case I swap phones. Also, check your other post (either the heavy or light ROM threads), I just added some info you may want to use for this cab if it was possible to do so.

Gosh, what phone do you have?
Have you (or anyone else) unlocked your phone and flashed a new ROM? If you are on the original carrier ROM, it will not work properly. There is a guardian file in the original rom that prevents changes to the Sprint network connection.
So, first, unlock your phone and flash a ROM if you haven't already. I'm using MR 4.16 on my Sprint TP flashed to MetroPCS, but look around... there are plenty to choose from.
Then try just the Internet (wap) cab and make sure you have internet. You must have a MetroPcs EVDO (1x) PRL and not 3g. Once you have the internet working, then you can troubleshoot the MMS. Some rom's have arcsoft cooked in, others don't. If you don't have it, you need the cab that does; if you do have it, use the one that doesn't.
I'm not an expert, but I know a little. You can also do a search for a manual installation tutorial. Hope this helps. Good Luck! xoxo :)

I agree with Mmaureenn that you will need to flash a cooked ROM on there. Actually, if you use on of Ryanmogul6800's Metro ROMS they are already set for Metro MMS and internet. All you will have to do at that point is add your ID and password (ID 10digitnumber@mymetropcs.com PASS: metropcs) and you're set.
Did you make sure you edited all of the PST settings too? There are several things you need to set in your PST settings in order for your data to work before you even bother to try and flash.

"HTC Titan" MMS Fix including Metro PCS WAP and Arcsoft 5.0.70.24 (http://www.4shared.com/file/127239609/4e2ddde7/MMS_Fix_Metro_WAP_and_Arcsoft_5_0_70_24.html) <--Sets up Data Connection and Installs Arcsoft for Metro PCS, uses Titan MMS fix to delete default connection string.

"Other" Windows Mobile CDMA devices Metro PCS WAP and Arcsoft 5.0.70.24 (http://www.4shared.com/file/127239485/8cc6cfaa/Metro_WAP_and_Arcsoft_5_0_70_24.html) <--Sets up Data Connection and Installs Arcsoft for Metro PCS.

Make sure that after installing an Arcsoft CAB that you dont fall victim to the WAP type bug (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3815864&postcount=218) this link will explain what happens and what it is and how to fix it.

Ryan I got a question if you have a min to spare....
So i flash my I910 Omnia with a cooked ROM.. then metroFlashed it to work on metro network. Web works fine after installing your CAB, but i still cant receive or send MMS...any ideas???
I noticed form another forum that you need to edit the registry setting for X-metropcs-MDN & X-DEVICE-MIN to you 10 digit number. But they disappear on reboot. But i seem to remember that MDN and MIN...makes it AUTOMATICALLY your 10 digit number.

My cabs are meant for HTC devices, not samsung. The reason you have problems is because my mortscript file to set the MIN and MDN looks in a HTC location in the registry to find the phone number, its writing them to zero because its not finding anything there. I know it writes the MIN to 1 thats because there is supposed to be a number there.
Delete the SetMDN.mscr from windows/start up folder. Then change the items manually again and dont forget to check wap type while you are in there. Then soft reset. Should work.
Edit: The CABs now support all WM CDMA devices!

WAP type should be on 1. You fell victim to the WAP type bug. Also Samsung WM devices may be provisioned different and have different registry functions. There is no guarentee that you will ever get it working on your Device. Thats why it says HTC. But who knows.
Edit: I have updated the CABs to support Other CDMA Windows Mobile devices.
I found another location in the registry containing the phone number. It should be the same for all WM devices by the looks of it.
I also provisioned the CAB to delete the HTC guardian from startup just to further help newer users. If your brand of WM device has a similar file let me know what the file name is and I will add it to be deleted.

The internet works fine when top network is set to your Carrier and Bottom set to My Work Network.. You must of had the phone plugged in which networks it to your PC. Windows Mobile defaults to Carrier on Top and My Work Network on bottom. Thats because it doesnt need switched to transfer from using your WAP to using your WIFI. And thats why it woulnt work if you plug it into your PC unless you swap the connections around. Thats why it says have phone unplugged the first time while activating the Data Connection (after flashing one of my ROMs or installing one of my Carrier or WAP CABS). Also when you set them both to your Carrier it forces the PPC to always use its own connections, wether plugged in or not. So that means your PPC is not using your PC's broadband connection while plugged in. You would have to put the top on My Work Network and Bottom on your Carrier. Then it would use the PCs internet while plugged in which is faster, and when you unplug it it uses the Carriers WAP. That is how I have mine set up. But there are various combinations and ways of setting up.
Depending on how the PC is set up and the Network selections depends on how the Phones Internet functions while plugged in. The reason I mention to swap the network selections around and try different combinations to achieve the results you desire is because.
The PPC can use your Computers Internet Connection while Plugged IN.
The PPC can use its own WAP Internet while Plugged IN.
The PPC can use its WIFI while Plugged IN.
The PPC can share its WAP Internet with a PC while Plugged IN. <--With a utility
The PPC can share its WIFI with a PC while Plugged IN. <--With a utility
The PPC can use its WIFI while Unplugged.
The PPC can use its own WAP Internet while Unplugged.
Depending on what you are trying to do you may have to swap them around. Ex:
Top Network - Carrier
Bottom Network - Carrier
Top Network - My Work Network <--How I set mine
Bottom Network - Carrier <--How I set mine
Top Network - Carrier
Bottom Network - My Work Network
And there are other combinations, that is up to you to try to achieve your results, the PPC cannot possibly know exactly what you want to do with its connection abilities and adjust things for you especially because it can connect and share in so many ways.

Try using a different Metro PRL, a NON evdo one. And force the phone into the 1X connection. Metro doesnt have EVDO. Start/settings/personal/phone/services/mode of operation. Put it on 1X only.

Thats no problem. You want to use the Other Windows Mobile devices version. A TITAN is a HTC Mogul (6800) so its only to be used for that device.
Just make sure your phone is activated on Metro. Make sure your PST settings are set perfectly. And make sure you have the correct Metro PRL loaded for your area depending (EVDO, NON EVDO). The HTC guardian dont worry about, my CAB deletes it. If you dont have it that doesnt matter, it will not error out or anything if thats your concern. So after all that copy CAB to device memory. Unplug the phone from the PC and Soft reset it. Now when it boots dont do anything but open file explorer and install the CAB to device memory. Now let it reset again. When it boots open internet explorer and follow the directions from my Metro CAB post. You should be ok. At worst you will have to Make both Network selections say Metro PCS.

Ok. Here's what I got. I downloaded the "other cab" and its installed. Went to IE, entered in my 10digitnumber@mymetropcs.com and it was telling me that my user name and password were wrong. (this was last week by the way). Did a LOT of searching, found a Custom ROM (NFSFAN Windows 6.5 v13 or something like that) for the Vogue, I flashed it over, everything still running great. There is NO Gaurdian File what so ever from what I see when looking for it, and DEFINATELY no Iota files of any sort. Saw in a few places that I needed to rename those files and crap. ANYWAYS, I got your "Other" WM devices cab installed, entered my 10digitnumber@mymetropcs.com password: metropcs, and now, from what Im seeing, is that its connectiing (no errors pop up about wrong username or password is why i think that) BUT, its giving me and ERROR 403 that says im not Authorized to view the page (www.google.com AND entered in just google.com) and Forbidden Internet Explorer. So, NOW, Im ready to punch a baby in the face. Oh.. I have no idea how to get my PST Setting for my area.. Tried searching online and found ONE walkthrough, showing me how to set it up for METRO, but still no luck. My PRL is 02002. Maybe thats the only problem, but I dont know. I live in the Dallas, Fort Worth Texas area if that helps at all.. Im REALLY hoping you can help me, man. Im about to lose it after trying everything for over a week now. Let me know what other info would help. I'm checking this site every day and I'll send whatever you need to know.. by the way. I DO have the 45 a month plan. Checked Saturday on that just to make sure. IF ANYONE ELSE SEES THIS AND CAN HELP ME WITH THE PST SETTINGS FOR MY AREA AND OR THE PRL I SHOULD USE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.. All I know is that when I changed phone from EVDO to 1X ONLY, I got a better signal and I stopped getting a pop up saying IE coulnt get a connection... Just in case that helps.

UPDATE, RYAN... Just tried sending a pic message, and it DID say it was sent. But Internet and email still arent working. Internet tells me Im not Authorized, and Email say it cannot connect with my current setting.. (Might not be able to help with that one though) as far as my EPST Settings here's what Ive got right now.
M.IP Mode: SIMPLE IP ONLY
NAM NAME, HDR AN AUTH, PPP, AND NAI are ALL set to 10digit@mymetropcs.com
HDR Password AND PPP Password: metropcs
M.IP Default: put all adresses in there (which is like 3 of them) at ZERO (0.0.0.0.0)
MCC: 310
MNC: 00 (was told in one thread to make this 27)
Dont know if MCC and MNC matters or needs changing, but IF SO, do the TRUE MCC and TRUE TRUE MNC need to be changed to the same thing?
and my Home SID/NID #1 is at 00/00
Thanks again. Sorry for the long back to back posts.

Metro PCS made some changes last weekend. They are trying to deter people from using Custom flashed devices.
They changed their WAP IP and made it so only Opera or Opera Mini work now as its the native browser on MetroPCS smartphones.. So flashed phones with anything else ex: IE6, PIE, Firefox, etc.. will no longer work. Unless you manually change the user agent string of your browser to "Opera".
Thats what I have found out. When I figure out how to make the CABs make the right changes it will be done.

Ryan. I dont know how or where you get this info, but youre one smart dude. Hey, if you havent noticed, Im the one with the two long as hell posts about internet not working.. Well, 86 all that mess. I got it all working EXCEPT email now, and I dont know WHAT to do with that. Says it cant connect with my current settings, yet It the settings look exactly like theyre suppose to. But if thats the biggest issue I have when it comes to internet and MMS, then Im good. Thanks for the help. Your cabs are pretty sweet. If you have any ideas with the Email situation, let me know. By the way. The issue with internet saying I wasnt Authorized was because of a B.S. setting in this NFSFAN WM6.5 that was defaulted to (View in for of PC) or some crap like that. I switched to be viewed in (Mobile Device) or some junk, and POW. Google pops up and Im good to go. Pretty sure you guys are all smart enough to know that, but oh well. Thanks again man

Good luck figuring out the problem. I successfully flashed from Sprint to MetroPCS but cannot get the web to work via the data cab you posted in this forum. PST settings were changed as posted. I would appreciate a complete run down of your or anyones settings as I am not quite sure where the mix up is.... i.e. MetroPCS change in web access or a single PST setting that is not quite right. BTW I am using your Heavy Rom for Metro with the Camera off.

The try using opera mini. Also you didnt need to use one of my Metro CABs if you are using my Metro ROM.
If opera works then we will figure out how to get IE to work.
Try setting both networks to Metro PCS in connections settings/advanced tab/select networks.
Let me know how it works out.

Ok, here we go AGAIN... I tried sending a Pic message and had a friend send ME a pic message and niether one was successful. I see where you said Metro made some changes, but the thing is, my IE works fine. I can search all day long, and even send emails.. I just cant send or receive Picture messages. Doesnt say anything about not being able to connect or anything. Just says send failed. Would metro changing the wap ip be able to mess that up ONLY? if not how CAN I get my picture message going? Remember, its ONLY picture message thats not sending or receiving...

Hey, great work, Ryan... It's nice to see that other Metro users are getting involved in development. :) That said, I really haven't had any problems with mms since I changed my Arcsoft. I'm using v. 5.0.68.24. I can create an mms from anywhere... album, in the program menu and from a standard text screen. I have read that some Metro users are limited to sending from the album only. I have a sending limit of 500k... never had a problem but sometimes other metro users receive a truncated or incomplete mms. To find this setting, go to Messaging/SMS-MMS/Menu/MMS Options... go to Servers tab and click on metropcs (or whatever your server is named)... the next screen will have a Sending Limit option... mine offers 500k, 1000k, and 5000k... although I haven't tried either of the larger settings.
I haven't experienced any problems with the internet, either. In fact, I hardly ever see that dumb "cocoon" screen anymore. And I'm pretty sure, unless something has changed, that internet will only work when using a 1x prl - regardless of whether you're in an EVDO area or not.
As for email, here are my settings:
(aol as an example) ...
Incoming mail server: imap.aol.com (account type = IMAP4)
Outgoing SMTP mail server: smtp.aol.com:587
Outgoing server requires authentication: check box
Use the same server name and password for sending e-mail: check box
On the bottom of this page go to
Advanced Server Settings: Don't check any boxes and choose NETWORK (not The Internet)
The rest is just personal preferences...
Maybe that will help.

First off - Ryan your ROMS are awesome bro.... THANK YOU very much for all of your hard work - Do you plan to cook any Touch Pro ROMS in the future? :)
Anyway, I flashed your WM72.2 and it is terrific - except for the fact that I cant download emails on a schedule from Yahoo when I connect to Metropcs. Works fine using wifi, but just as someone mentioned a few posts ago, my mogul says that the network settings are wrong. I have both network connections set to MetroPCS - so any help would be greatly appreciated...
I noticed the same error 403 on IE - so I logged into Opera Mini and it works great. I also soft reset and then tried IE on a different website not cached - and now it works excellent too. I sometimes need to open and close and soft reset once or twice when I get errors connecting to the net.
I believe that many of the problems are with Metropcs and not with the phone - and sometimes I waste more than a few hours trying to fix something that just starts working again without me fixing anything.....
hope that helps and thanks to everyone here - especially Ryan who is THE MAN
thanks, Rob

Here is what you said a couple posts ago, and R4R is not my ROM
Which version of MY ROM are you using? sprint, verizon, cricket etc... I have a metro pcs ROM. There are links in my ROM threads, there is a heavy version and light. Like the rest of my ROM's
which of these also work on a motorola q verizen flashed to work on metro?
running windows mobile 5.0?

Well you dont have a Titan (mogul, 6800, xv6800, p4000) so you can scratch the Titan MMS fix version off the list.
That leaves the other two, one is just Arcsoft only so no data settings, and one is data and Arcsoft..
They work on all windows mobile 5.0 and up.

Anyway I was able to get the internet back. The time I see her I will try to try the string in opera to see if it gets her opera working again. Thanks...

No problem guy. I have no way of testing things as I am on Cricket. I just pioneered the first Metro ROMs, and Metro CABs in early 04/09 just to do so lol. I had testers help out in that department. Hope everything works out for you and your friend.

Ryan, first let me say that I have done tons of reading and think I am overloading myself to the point of being scared of what to do. To start I have purchased an Alltel TP and am flashing to Metro myself and using a metro prl that is known to work. I just want to keep things simple and would like to unlock and use one of your ROMS to start.
My question to you is...will the ROM itself get the pic mail and web to work or do I need to download your CAB also?
I am so sorry for being such a noob, but we have to start somewhere. If you could please help me get started that would be great. Also I would love to donate for the new house warming gift !

Hey Mike, I do not have any ROMs currently for the TP. Just Mogul ROMs. What you should do is follow the CAB instructions and you should be OK with Data and MMS. Providing your PST and QPST settings are correct for Metro PCS and you have Data plan. Hope this helps man.

It does help and I have read this thread over now 3-4 times. Still have a question on changing settings. On another forum I see that you have to change all the settings manualy...that is what I dont feel comfortable with, but with yours and a non stock ROM (mighty 6) I should just be able to load your CAB and then link IE with phone unpluged then enter the pasword steps?..this I feel much better doing.
Sorry for bothering you with this, its just that I have read many of your post on other sites and see that you have a lot of know how on the CDMA with metro. Just did not want to stir the pot there and found you here. Im sure you know the thread I read..lol

Replying to the bolded section. Yes with my CAB it will set up your OS (windows mobile ROM) with the proper settings for Data. Or WAP and Data depending on which CAB you are loading.
The other thing that matters is QPST and PST settings which I do not know. Get a hold of someone that uses Metro (I use cricket) and they should be able to provide you with the settings needed for full functionality. Examples are PST security settings and which PRL to use etc..

I have an unlocked Touch Diamond (Sprint) that I am trying to use with MetroPCS. I paid the fee to have it flashed by the owner of a MetroPCS Store near my house...The account is already set up on their network, but I can't use the service.
She's flashed at least 5+ times with Houdini but for some reason the phone would not update the MSL (MDN/MIN). Each time it would prompt to have the device restart and then went blank. She had to manually press the on/off button to get it to come on. When it did, the MDN/MIN info went back to Sprint's (what it was - with my old number and MDN).
I've spent at least 10 hours reading the various sites, hoping I could come across a simple solution to just program the phone to work on MetroPCS network, by taking the newly ported number being programmed. Sprint is claiming that Sprint phones cannot be used with other carriers...I was trying to get tech support to help me change the MSID/MDN, but they refused. The owner/rep at the MetroPCS store said it was my phone, because she did flash and have my number ported and the Touch Diamond showing that it's on the MetroPCS network. I could call customer care since the phone is registered on their network, BUT I can't call out or receive calls, because the phone still has my Sprint's old information and could not be updated.
Please help.

If you spent hours reading how to program your MDN and MSID you should of came across something. I at one point a year ago was in the same boat. And I found how to do it. Its very easy.. I am mobile right now or I would help tonight. Be patient and either I will be upstaged and someone will input the help or wait until I get home.

Ok, now first you need your MSL/SPC code to be able to edit your EPST/PST settings.
Download GetSPC (http://www.4shared.com/file/144530599/a23b4df/GetSPC.html) from my share site.
1. Unzip and copy the extracted GetSPC folder (with all 3 files) to the storage card on your device. Wether you use a card reader or Active Sync 4.5 (http://www.4shared.com/file/94429507/be0cb4f9/actsync45.html) that is up to you.
2. Write down the ESN (Hex) number found behind the battery.
3. Power up and run the 'GetSPC(PPC 2003)' executable on your device using the phones file explorer.
4. In the 'Input' field, enter the ESN number you wrote down but be sure to use ALL CAPITALS for the alpha values. (Ex: 123ABCD4, not 123abcd4)
5. Hit the 'Go' button. The value in the 'Output' field will be your "Unlock Code" (MSL/SPC code).
Now you are able to follow my Cricket PST settings thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=492824) to help you set up your MSID/MIN and MDN. Obviously only use the thread to get those set up. Most if not All of the other values are not the same for Metro. Dont be a goofball.. Only program the MSID/MIN and MDN to the values required for your Metro service..

Thank you for your reply. I finally figured it out...I had Calkulin's latest ROM installed. For some reason it would not take the new settings in EPST/PST. The device would turn off on restart, so I had to manually turn it back on. I spent the good half of yesterday until late last night to finally be able to program the phone to save the new information. The phone's ESN was already registered with MetroPCS but the phone wasn't accepting the changes - it was the ROM - so I flashed it to something else.
The phone now works, but data is extremely slow. It's showing 1X and radio has no bars (until I go to make a call, then it'll show 2-3 bars).
Again, thank you for your quick reply. I did have the EPST/PST info from the get go; it was reset to 000000 when the person from MetroPCS flashed it.

Follow the deleting IOTA folder, and HTC_CM_Guardian shortcuts as directed. Then re-do the Data settings and or installing my CABs. Follow the instructions on the CAB postings, not just what you feel like doing. The info is there for a reason, particularly when you are using a Stock Nub ROM.

CABs updated to issue the delivery failed issue. If you dont feel like re-installing just change this registry key.
HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\Arcsoft MMS UA\Config\UI
Promptforactiveconnection = Change from 1 to 0
Wait a minute or two and soft reset. Problem should be gone.
Also supposedly the messages would still send and receive just display that error message. This edit gets rid of the error message.

Bryan,
I admire your dedication and willingness to help others!!!!!
After reading this thread, I feel brave enough to try getting Web and MMS working on a HTC Titan through my MetroPCS provider. I may stumble a little along the way but with all the information found here, I am pretty confident I will succeed.
Before I start, I have a very newbie question though.
I got a little confused on the suggestion that someone had about calling a MetroPCS store and asking them to add the phone's ESN number to their network, faking the brand of it.
The question that I have is:
Will my phone be ready to make calls and text right after the ESN is added to their network?
Needless to say, I would not want to go to their store and show them the phone because they will want to charge me the flashing fee and would also alert them of the real phone type I have.
I am hopeful that once the phone is enabled to make calls and text, I should be able to load your CAB and take care of the Web and MMS services.
Thank you Bryan!

My name is not Bryan. If you cant even read something to get that then how do you expect to be able to get your device fully working on Metro. It takes more than just my CABs to accomplish that. Your QPST and PST settings need set perfectly for Metro as well. Plus having the right PRL loaded for your area.

I have a WinMo5 Moto Q on MetroPCS. I previously had it working properly with Voice/Web/MMS/SMS.
I tried installing Metro_WAP_and_Arcsoft_5_2_3_22.cab on the device and it failed at the end of the install. I then clicked storage card but it failed the same way. At this point I lost the ability to access the internet. I was able to restore internet access using rapiconfig and an xml file I had preconfigured.
I then rebooted, used the Security Policy Lifter CAB, rebooted, then tried Metro_WAP_and_Arcsoft_5_2_3_22.cab with the same results.
I restored my internet settings with rapiconfig, rebooted and then tried Metro_WAP_and_Arcsoft_5_0_70_24.cab
Did the same with MMS Fix Metro WAP and Arcsoft 5_2_3_22.cab and it wont install either.
All of them fail once the installation bar is complete. Is there some type of log I can provide to track down the stopping point?
I am unsure how to proceed. My SMS/MMS menu is messed up now. I cant open or create a new MMS, the SMS menu has been renamed as "SMS / MMS" even though it only shows the SMS messages and when I choose to reply to an SMS it then asks if I want an SMS MMS or Voicemail.
Any advice? I would have thought if the installation didn't complete the original settings would be restored but this doesn't seem to be the case.
Thanks
Edit: I performed a master reset on my phone and after adjusting a few registry entries for Metro (phone has Verizon monster) I got the old mms/sms portion working. Its seriously a pain in the butt to put all my modifications back.

Edit: I performed a master reset on my phone and after adjusting a few registry entries for Metro (phone has Verizon monster) I got the old mms/sms portion working. Its seriously a pain in the butt to put all my modifications back.
Yea I should list that Arcsoft is not compatible with the Moto Q Windows Mobile 5. I was going to suggest a Hard Reset to get back in action as well.
While I am in here I think I figured out the permissions problems with installing on other Windows Mobile devices. Same instructions apply, like if it doesnt work soft reset and try again etc.. But I tested all of the CABs on 6.5 after my new edits and they all install properly. So anyone who had trouble try again. With the exception of Moto Q users. You may only use the Carrier CABs on your device.
Sorry about your troubles buddy, wish I would of known. But now I do so I will edit my posts saying do not use on a Moto Q.

Its all good. I used this tool http://freewareppc.com/download/database/pimbackup.shtml to backup most of my stuff so doing a hard reset wasn't too terrible.

As it states in my postings..
Motorola Q's DO NOT support Arcsoft so DO NOT install those CABs, you may only use the Carrier CAB..

Hey Guys,
I got internet working on PIE and google maps, etc, but for some reason Skyfire shows "network unavailable". I've tried swiching work network to the metropcs connection for programs that authenticate using a private network, but not go. Any ideas? Thanks.

MY SAD HTC TP, after reading a bit here i went to get a rom from ppgeeks since i am a n00b i could not understand all the steps to install Ryan Moguls Heavy WM6.1 and WM6.5 Multi-Carrier ROMs"SHY n00b "so i installed Raphael_CDMA_HSPL_037.zip, then i installed the mighty rom ,yeah. and then i installed "HTC Titan" MMS Fix including Metro PCS WAP and Arcsoft 5.2.32.2R1 , installed Security Policy Lifter CAB , i guess i did not need the Security Policy Lifter CAB or i suppose the Metro PCS WAP and Arcsoft would not have installed, i unplugged from pc and ran IE , i saved the password in 661lollolol@mymetropcs and all setting were fine no more "default sprint network.yeah" except the main part, IE and mms never worked."SAD" always said so i was gonna install Ryan Mogul Metro PCS Carrier CAB although now i cant says could not be installed so i tried to uninstall Metro PCS WAP and Arcsoft, says some files was not completely removed do you want to remove it from list of installed programs i click yes and its still there , i soft reset a few time and tried again , nothing. only the famous " dailed #777 cannot connect for unknown reason.......
please advise

I have a verizon imagio that I loaded with your "Other" Windows Mobile CDMA devices Metro PCS WAP and Arcsoft 5.2.32.2R1" and I deleted all the guardian stuff and installled the security policy lifter. But I still cannot connect to the web or do mms. Do i need to do anything with Metro PST Settings? I already programmed the MSID/MIN and MDN to the values required for my Metro service..I have talk n text right now..Thanks for any help...

Nevermind , i got a storm 2 , i click the roam tab and brose the 02001.prl. i just wanna add the metro prl, i use qpst build 301 , and click write to phone nothing happens, i though the spc code is 000000 . so i tried to put 123456 as the unlock code just to see and the same thing happens the phone is brand new out the box? all the spc unlocker dont work since the berry has restricted functions in file explorer.
now i have a sad strom 2, ( get it storm + HTC = storm 2.lol )

hey everyone, hoping someone can help, possibly ryan. im posting here cuz of the fact of the metropcs topic and the fact that no one ever goes on the apache forum anymore
i've been using my qwest apache, on metro for a couple of days and all is well, wasn't happy with the rom so i figured leme do the good old flash the stock rom then reflash custom and hard reset and all that, i guess something must have happened in the flash cuz now it shows qwest as the operator instead of metropcs and it took me the whole day to mess around with it and get it to connect back to metro's network, i think also something changed with the PRI and for some reason it wasn't taking the metro PRL but after many tries it started working, now the only issue is the operator name, i tried the registery hacks to get it to change but it goes right back. i've flashed like 4 roms and still shows qwest on every one, any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks
