i just bought my dash i downgraded from the g1 when i bought it the guy told me it was unlocked but he did say what kind so how do i find out and what version should i be on i check for updates through the phone but none came up

1) English please, you barely make sense.
2) Why did you downgrade? :rolleyes::confused:
3) Your phone is SIM unlocked when you can use any SIM card worldwide and the phone works. The only way for you to know this is to try a SIM from another carrier or even better, country.

meaning when i look on my phone for anything thats says its unlocked like when i go into sounds it says simtoolkit why and no but i did a master reset when i got it

If I deciphered you right, there isn't something that will tell you if its sim unlocked or app unlocked. You know on your own if you insert a SIM that isn't from your carrier, assuming you got it sim locked from the carrier and for app unlocking you can browse the forum. The rest means nothing.

Yes there is software to check sim unlock.

OP: i can't mem what it is but if head to "I'm Back" thread and PM DaveShaw he will know as was him who posted a while back. :)

If it's app unlock? you will soon find out via trying to flash or installing uncerified software.

Yes but you need to use an app, you can't just go on the phone on its own to check if its unlocked. :)

And I personally prefer to call T-Mobile and ask them for the code if I have to unlock it.
