You could just but it on craigslist a few weeks after it comes out for a few extra bucks contract free. I'm sure being that it's winmo you'll still be able to use it free or with t-zones.

They cant require you to get anything, you just wont be able to use internet / email on it without a data plan.

i know with the g1 you got to get the 25 dollar data plan.
im just wondering cause i have the t-zones plan (which i had to fight to get) and when my contract expires i want to get a phone like the dash to have as a backup, and i dont want to switch to the 25 dollar plan

There is a 9.99 and a 19.99 plan. T-Zones wont work with the Dash for long, as 3G keeps opening up the old 'open ports' for the T-Zones hack are being closed. So at some point in the near future, its gonna cost ya some money to connect the the internet on any device. Most areas have already phased out T-Zones 5.99 plans all together, it just a matter of time till all areas are closed.

Why wait. 20.00 is not that bad and its unlimited. Get it now and get it locked in before T-Mobile starts charging by the megabyte like other providers are doing. If you don't get in on the 20.00 deal now you may lose out altogether. Personally its not worth the risk to hold on to a dying rate plan when you already know per MB charging is right around the corner.

In UK we seem to be going the oposite way to which everything was P/MB now most companys are opening up and alllowing unlimited on contract phones, the PrePay is nearly the same but alot more FUP's involved.
Sorry to go off topic ;)

According to T-Mo's own coverage map, 3G is barely available anywhere...
http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/pcc.aspx?MapType=Data&wt.mc_t=micro&wt.mc_n=SDK_3GMap_LXPresale
That being the case, what are you basing your argument on? T-mo has been slow with pretty much every improvement over the years, so I'm not convinced.

Dont you read the Scoop? The roll out continues. I live in Lancaster PA and we got 3G at the end of last month, its not on the coverage map yet, but we now have it. Since there are 4 devices being release through out this year that use 3G, it stands to reason T-Mo will be working to get it up and running
T-Mobile already has a removed the 5.99 plan from its web site. It is not even an option for new customers.

The $5.99 plan I knew about, but didn't realize they'd rolled out 3G to smaller cities... The assertion is reasonable, especially considering the new phones coming out, but I guess we'll see how fast it actually starts happening. AFAIK, nowhere in my state has 3G yet, and we're right next door to PA. (OH)

Well, sort of.
The Snap has GPS, the Dash does not
The Snap is 528 MHz the Dash 200 Mhz
The Snap stock battery is 1500 mAh the Dash 960 mAh
Not to mention 256 MB ROM, 128 MB RAM
and a host of other goodies. Saying the Snap is pretty much just a dash is like saying an Austin Martin is just a car LOL

In other news, NRG has the maple rom(think its build 21041?) and was working on a porting to dash, maybe y'all should hit him up so he doesn't get sidetracked since he's also busy making roms for touch hd and touch pro.
