1 First you must install java to your PC
You can download this

2 All web doctor

please install this:
for the pre2 (unlocked)

enter your device then enter the word "sett " you will start seeing icons
one of them is "device info" enter device info and check your sys VER
by this VER you will know what web doctor you need to download

don’t connect the device when installing this is the driver for the pc
if you get the file as .zip please rename it to .jar
after it has installed you will be asked to connect the device

connect the device to the pc, and when device asks select “just charge” (it is very important you don’t select USB..
you will see on your home pc that drivers are installed and the word "NEXT" is gray, when all drivers are installed you will see that you can select the word NEXT (it is not gray)
do not tap on the word NEXT it will DELETE your device

disconnect the device from the pc and close the WEB DOC


3 now install the attached WebOSQuickInstall.jar (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RUG1BXU5) by download& saving it to your desktop and tapping on the file (this may take some time as it will download a large file from the web…)

4 enter device to developer mode by entering the device this word “webos20090606” you will see an icon called “developer mode enabler”
Set it to “ON” and exit
If the word “webos20090606” didn’t work then enter “upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart”

5 connect the device to the pc, when asked select “just charge” (it is very important you don’t select USB..

Check that your pc see the drivers from the web doctor, you can do that by entering the DOC and going

6 now install the attached “org.webosinternals.preware_1.3.8_arm.ipk (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MFT7AEN0)” using the “WebOSQuickInstall”
you will get error note but it is o.k. ,reset the device and you will see new icon called “preware”

enter the PREWARE app and select “list of everything” now surch the word “Hebrew” and install everything you see

if you had issues with preware then you can use the attached “com.avnerarbel.hebrewsupport_1.0.2_all.ipk (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZLQZ49LK)” using “WebOSQuickInstall”
this will install heb fonts to your device but due to HP/PALM limitation you can’t install from the new heb icon the calendar and keyboard
this is where you need o use the “preware”

please install all the PC apps as it may take some time
do it over XP machine as this way things will go smoothly
enjoy the most powerful OS+device i have seen (for now ;) :D)

From what I have tested this updates are more or less as the ipaq 800 VER from the thread but I have seen some differences that I will point them out
1 integrated heb soft keyboard (qvga) that will be selected automatically after sr
it only has heb,rus,eng option and only red/black layout
2 after installing u can record a call (during a call) by taping on option/record
3 this heb will enable treaded sms
4 new mail and new sms sounds
5 ipaq 600 ver will enable BANDSWITCH option on the phone option
6 all IPAQ VER have integrated hardware keyboard support
7 when using heb layout 4 devices with full hard key u have the option of writing a number by pressing twice on the keys that also serving numbers

INSTALLATION:
Install your heb then device will sr
After sr go 2 start/settings/system/ regional-settings and select “Hebrew”
if u don’t use RUS keyb or ENG keyb u can remove the option from start/heb settings/softkb
u have 2 option of soft heb kb that can be selected as default from start/heb settings/setting-def-softkb
after making all your settings selection save and SR your device

on this HEB VER 4 SP i found after testing that :

1 it has icon 4 sound over BT ( good 4 sound of navi app over car-kit)

2 office template in a folder called MS office not the orig folder it is good 4making new word/excel files using SP OS)

3 keyboard layouts by pressing “*” are ( heb-device default -Eng )

Heb – enter only heb fonts

Device default- enter characters by local typing filed
(on phone it will type numbers u can also force num by pressing the Wight triangle twice)

Eng- only eng fonts (good 4 phone smart dialing or forcing eng fonts)

a friend was telling me that it is ok that I know the location of HEB fonts over the hardkey of the ipaq530 by heart but he still keep forgetting the location here and there

my solution was setting a today picture of the key layout
this way when he types in the nav app or sms and looking 4 the location of a letter he can press the home hardkey find the location of the letter then by pressing the back hardkey he will find himself in the field where he was typing in (the nav app or sms..)

for ipaq 900/sumsung i780 users that already have heb support on there device but don’t have hardware keyboard support I'm also attaching hardware keys support cab (only hardware keyboard support)
it is based on rany app (from forum freak) modified 2 full keyboard
on this support when HEB layout is set pressing twice on hard key will give ENG key
pressing 3 times one NUM key will give the number of that key

Everything works perfectly on i780 except for the 'ת' key. The '?' key is bind with some other character. I replaced the following line in the .eak file:

key 0067 c05EA (last line) with:
key 00BC c05EA

and now the '?' (located right to the 'space' key) is bind to 'ת' as it should.
Maybe it is ipaq 900/samsung i780 portability issues or it is just my phone.

The following two hebrew key layouts are for samsung i780:

Hebrew ipaq900.eak.aek.1.txt is layout with 'ת' on the '?' key
Hebrew ipaq900.eak.aek.2.txt is layout with 'ת' on the '.' key (same to layout on devices sold by OfficeDepot)

1. Install the "IPAQ 900 Hebrew.cab".
2. Choose the desired layout from the two above, rename it to "Hebrew ipaq900.eak.aek" and replace existing layout (file) in My Device\Program Files\AEKMap.

That's it.

one more thing
after you install the hebrew support go start/settings/system/regional settings
and set it to hebrew

aligne 2 the right tip
on your home pc/server create (if you don't have) a contact called אא
enter phone num like 123
save and sync
on your device open this contact then select edit and copy the number (123)
now open device outlook tap on new and write למושה then paste (the 123)
you will see all screen is aligne to the right tap ok to save it in drafts folder
you can save it and next email you can use it
If you delete the content למושה 123 it will not effect the alignement

you can also use the paste trick when repling to mail (so if you get mixed email you can reply with paste and read)



more tips on alignment to the right :D
a better method of my previous tip is to use internet address
launch your device IE (internet explorer) and enter "google" address
now copy the address from your IE "http\\www.google.com"
open new email and type one letter in heb then paste the address
the screen will now aligned to the right
you can delete all txt and the alignment will stay

1 send yourself an email with IE address
save this mail in a sub folder in your device mail
every time you need alignment just copy the adders from this template mail
and paste …..

this app is like an upgrade of AE Button
install & launch the app
tap and hold top bar icon for setup (you can also go to setup EXE from app dir)
on CTRL/ALT apps tab set one of hardware button as a CTRL
now go to TEXT tab ,mark "use this function"
tap on ADD and in text box write " א h " =( "א" space "h" ) then set combination of ctrl and one more button (you can select from the drop list )
save all
now open new email and press your ctrl key and the key to paste the " א h " combination
u now got right side alignment using 2 hardware keys
this IPAQ have full keyboard there for CTRL option is useful (ctrl v / c/ x)
but if you have no need 4 ctrl option on the TEXT tab you can directly set one key 2 do this action
this hardware button will be like the " pi" of EYRON heb


this trick is good if you need 2 write email that has lots of numbers and heb+eng writing or read...

HEB support for IPAQ 810,from all VER i have seen this xda VER tested and found to be working on IPAQ data messenger

the IPAQ 900 HEB VER will not work on the IPAQ 800 (fonts are hidden in some section)
but the IPAQ 800 HEB will work on the IPAQ 900
u just need to install the hardware keyboard layout attached in previous post (IPAQ 800 layout different )
the "ת" on this VER is located on the "," key

PART 1 HEB IPAQ 800 = HEB general support
PART 2 HEB IPAQ 800 = reg settings 4 IPAQ 810 (4 hardware key)


Install part 1 then SR
go start/programs and tap on the " psshutxp" icon
go Start/settings/system/regional settings
select Hebrew (the device may need SR but heb settings will stay
install part 2
you are good to go


btw -i also tested this VER on samsung blackjack but on the i607 it will only let you read (only part 1 cab needed)
on blackjack ae did not work :(

if you don’t have ipaq 800 and u want to try this VER the only cab u need is num 1

I add one more ver of heb from this forum that the hardware keyboard is not included
it will fit ipaq 600 or any of the new pocket pc of HP that has no hard keyboard (like ipaq 100/200)
ipaq 600 can use heb key support attched and cab num 2 fix fo the ipaq 800

4 ipaq 600
1 install "heb-ipaq 800 no hard key..cab" (dvice wil sr at the end when you tap o.k.)
then go Start/settings/system/regional settings
select Hebrew (the device may need SR but heb settings will stay)

2 from the "from tx9 to default-ABC.zip" install "from tx9 to default-ABC.cab"
3 from the "from tx9 to default-ABC.zip" install "HebKeys_b_198_v15.cab"
4 go start/programs and tap on "heb key" icon
5 from ipaq 800 post (post 7) install "part 2 heb ipaq 800 cab"


all cabs must be installed to main memory!
voice commander will switch heb-eng hard key support

you must always install heb to main memory (eyron,pdac,or this)
i think u will now need HR
anyway after u install the app and before you say "ok" to the SR
go 2 windows/startup and delete "AEKMAP"
THEN GO 2 program file/aekbsuport
tap on "AEKMAP settings" and uncheck "run on startup"
save and exit
then SR

now u can set it to your preference

On IPAQ 914C the device crashes or will not start after reset. I think it is related to this Hebrew version as it will not happen without it.

all ipaq 900 ver (the 2 of them) tested and worked great on the ipaq 900
my main device is the ipaq 900 :D

the first ver is only good 4 the orig rom
the ipaq 800 ver is good on the ipaq 900 on all roms 6.1&6.5
soon there will be an update 4 the ipaq 800/900 VER but some small things
(tweaks, softkeyboard...)

4 now hr your device
install ipaq 800 heb 2 main memory!!(not sd or ipaq file store)(part a &b)
check the device if it works ok
u must install the heb first before any 3part app
check if u have the last hp rom (maybe u have a very old rom before i got that device:confused:)

today i install wm6.5 on my omnia and after i olso install ipaq 800 as you say. But now when i try to open any sms in my inbox i get a white blanck screen.

it is important to say that without hebrew package sms working fine but it is in gibberish.

hi it is good 2 know u find this app useful
from what i have tested on omnia it is more an issue of the rom u r using

4 start please use the heb from post 9
it is 4 ipaq 600 that has no hardware keyboard (not full)
the heb with the integrated hardkey support had issues with the omnia

i also found that on some omnia roms the ipaq 900 from the first post worked better

what i can think that may fix your issue on your current ver is 2 disable the threaded sms (שרשור טקסט)
test this fix and check if it works

more points that u can check on your rom (if u dont like hr so backup your device before...)

1 u can hr your device and try the ipaq 900 heb
if not hr and go back 2 this ver or try 2 find a rom that will fully work with this heb (as i told u diff rom i main issue)

2 if u know how 2 work with reg edit
try 2 see if on your rom there is an sms app (that may effect..) that can be disabled by reg or delete of its dir
by doing so u will work with MS sms app (that fuly work with this heb

3 check if your rom works with diffrent font 4 the sms app
(recommended 2 work with "tahoma" fonts)

Hi,

I have installed the hebrew support (from the first page of the thread - where there were reports it works on the i780) on my i780 and run it. It installed fine and asked to reboot which I did. Checked the regional settings - it was already set to Hebrew.

I can type in hebrew and read hebrew RTL but can someone explain how to switch from hebrew to english keyboards?

Also - MAJOR ISSUE - when trying to edit existing text, the original text disapear (although "it is there"). Example, trying to edit an appointment named "Meeting" - if I tap the edit field, the text disappear, if I type AA - when I move out of the edit box, I will see MeetingAA.

Any ideas?

as 4 ipaq users i have tested the heb u found here on all ipaq's that i have pointed out (by model) and found it 2be working on every ipaq rom u will test
so no issues 4 u :D

btw there is a "new" very small ipaq called ipaq 530 or "voice messenger" anyway i have found on xda a working heb 4 this ipaq and im testing it now (rom is wm6.5 v2 )

Hi Erez,

Tried the above - didn't work. Still the text dissapears when I try to edit it (e.g. I can write a new SMS message but can't edit a calender item text)

I tried hard resetting the system and installing from scratch - still - same behaviour. I have instllaed only part 1 as instructed. First time I tried to install hebrew support I installed two parts but the second parts caused the device to act strange.

Any more thoughts?

it is a nice wm6.1
from what user told me it will also work on i780 wm6.5 but i didn't test it yet

as 4 using 96dpi i have edited the fonts so it is not 2 small
u can do it yourself by using regedit app & using the search option 4 the words "font" and "fnt"

OK. Downloaded the file in the link you provided. It looks like an official Samsung update - when I run it, device connected, it says "wrong version, check device".

I googled for i780_RC4_REFRESH_96DPI_16MB_PP.zip and I found a link in pocketpcfreak where people are saying that this version doesn't support your hebrew.

Am I doing something wrong?

I am now waiting for the 6.5 to download.

i have also googled 4 that rom b4 uploading it and i have seen the post u talk about but i have no issues using that rom and heb

maybe like u he tried 2 install the 2 parts of the heb
install only the first part!!

as 4 your error message i don't know try 2 update the modem driver or try 2 use the 1 i pointed out

anyway i don't think samsung issued 96dpi rom only xda or modaco cook...
if u are in2 testing please try wm6.5 so i will know what rom will work on the i780 using this heb

Good Morning Erez,

Ok: managed to "brick" the phone to some extent. Tried to load a 6.5 image on the phone and now the phone functionality does not work (all the rest works well...)

I think the problem was that I told MIRAGE that one of the images I used was a "Phone" and not a "PDA" - and it failed around 40% through.

Any thoughts on how I can recover the lost functionality? I am sure the hardware is still operational and I can still get to "Emergency Mode" and reflash it - but it still doesn't bring back the phone functionality.

I heard something about the Russian IMG files which allow you to do a complete FLASH of all the phone software - but I didn't manage to find any. Will that help? and how can I find it?

are u looking 2 get the wm6.5 today screen bigger?
if so look in2 HKLM/software/M$/chome
u can also try using diffrent tayp of font (may effect the size)

if u do get all reg values bigger please make a cab out of it and post it here

Hi Erez. Got no PM. Meanwhile I did some research of my own. The main point it works RTL opposing to everything else.
But when you install it and SR the device it crashes some stuff.
On the other side, this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493723) Hebrew version doesn't crash a thing but Hebrew is LTR.
I did comparison between those 2 and the only _setup.xml different.
My gut feeling telling me that this part is making trouble. But unfortunately I still haven't found the way how to edit this file without screwing the cab.

please use the ipaq 800 heb ver from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=254130&d=1260218043)and u will get everything working
(download the txt and then download from it the heb using the link of the ipaq 800- it is the last heb VER)

u can also replase the location of heb fonts over your hardware keyboard (like other i780 users use) by using the key layout from post num 5 (done by "vincenzos ")

if u have issues with sms & heb over the omnia2 u can use this reg hacks 2 get the device into working with orig windows mobile mail:
SMS/Email


Enable Samsung skinned Email application: In more recent ROMs the Samsung messaging application has only included the SMS folders unlike older Samsung ROMs which allowed you to setup and navigate through email accounts within the Samsung messaging app. If you would like to re-enable this feature you can edit this registry setting: HKLM\Software\Samsung\JINBOX - change the ShowEmailAccounts entry from 0 to 1. Restart the Samsung messaging app and now you will have access to the email folders as well as SMS.
Disable the Threading SMS in Samsung SMS skinned application
Go to HKLM/Software/Samsung/JINBOX and set "ThreadedViewDisabled" from 0 to 1.
After changing you need to softreset your device.
Disable the skinned apps for email (1) and sms (2) and enable threading message (3) [using tmail.exe]. You will need to change 3 registry entry:
1) HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\MsgTypes\IPM\Note\DL L
change the value from emform.dll to htmlnote.dll (in current firmware IJ6 this is already set)
2) HKCU\Sofware\Microsoft\Inbox\MsgTypes\IPM\SMStext\ DLL
change the value from mms.dll to htmlnote.dll
3) HKCU\Sofware\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\OEM\SMSInbox ThreadingDisabled
change the value from 1 to 0
There are a couple of side effects to this though.
1) No name-type-ahead for the SMSes that you compose via tmail. You have to select the recipients from the address book. (This could be fixed if you disable T9 and enable the WinMo text prediction, read the Inputing section)
2) You're not able to MMS.

Threaded SMS Input Space: if you using the default Tmail for Threaded SMS (and not some 3rd party program… I recently gave up on VITO SMS-chat after too many bugs/problems for me), you will notice that the space to input text is really too small. To change it, look for the file \Windows\thread_sms.htm You can open the file with Word Mobile to edit it:
Find the line <Inbox:content id="COMPOSESUBJECT" width="98%" height=35 spell ......>
and modify the value of height from 35 to 65 or 70, to get 3 line spacing for the input
Save the edited file somewhere and then use Total Commander or Resco Explorer to move it to Windows overwriting the old file.

Using 3rd party programs as the default SMS
Go to: HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/:MSINBOX
Change key 1 (default : Tmail.exe) with your software
---Example to use VITO SMS-Chat, change to: "\Program Files\VITO\SMS-Chat\SMSChat.exe"
---Example to use the Sms program from Resco Contact, change to: RPhoneMan -sms
By the way, if you also want to change to Resco Contact Manager change this key:
HKLM>Software>Microsoft>Shell>Rai>:MSCONTACTS
Change key labelled 1 to :RPMContacts

Remove the Samsung skinned SMS application and SMS sent notification (this can be done with SKtools and AdvConfigTools too, after disabling Samsung SMS app.)

Go To: HKCU > Software > Microsoft > Inbox > MsgTypes > IPM > SMSText
Change: DLL value from mms.dll to htmlnote.dll
Soft reset and then
Go To: HKLM > Software > Microsoft > Inbox > Settings
Change: MMSNoSentMsg name to SMSNoSentMsg (just in case you have it)
Change: SMSNoSentMsg value to 1
Soft Reset

Note: can be done with SKtools too: TuneUp/Phone Edition/Do not show "Message sent" bubble


Remove SMS sent notification without disabling the Samsung skinned SMS application (by AndrewTan, not tested myself yet)
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Samsung\MMS\setting and change the value from 1 to 0 of
SMSForegegroundSend - disable sms/mms successful send notification
SMSDeliveryReport - disable delivery notification

u can read one user notes (in post 36) about wm6.5 that worked 4 him with this heb (this build didnt work well 4 me) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505602&page=4)

u can also try the rom i have installed from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=537608) (i used htc builds- worked with igo, heb& fing keyboard)
it takes time 2 find the rom that will fit your device (with no issues) but when u will find it :) :D

the hebrew is not reversed and OK but when i try to read sms i get a big white screen instead of the sms.

i saw that iceberg2 in post #22 got the same but i didnt understood what is the solution for that.

i also use rom 6.5 on OMNIA i900, the phone is originaly from cellcom.
