Hi everbody,

2 days ago I flashed my Orbit 2 the first time with hardspl and with an unofficial ROM and I have to say THANKS to pcarvalho and all the other people for their how-tos! Everything went fine and this ROM is absolutely amazing! I'm so happy to play with the new WM 6.5 and all the other tools :D

Today I recognized a problem about recording a GPS track and perhaps someone can help me with that: I always used TrackyPro to save routes with GPS as a gpx file. To save battery I normally lock my device and turn it off (standby, black screen). But when I do this now, GPS stops responding and no route is recorded until I turn screen on again and TrckyPro starts searching for satellites again and continues to record the track (just connects the last recorded point on the map with the one after tunring on the screen again). Is this a behavior I can change with some standby setting (or registry hack) or is there a way to lock the device, turn screen off (to save battery) and let GPS and continue recording anyway?

Thats cos they will never worked. The drivers on that rom are a mix of 3.19 and 1.XX so therefore they lack the parts to have the 3d aspect. There maybe another 3d rom but the 23016 one is a good reason why they are bad; only 20-30 mb free ram on boot :eek:. No where near enough and with manilla less with new manilla running!

I got one problem. When I want to input WLAN IP address, only TWO digits can be input in each field, for example: if the IP address is 192.168.1.100, then I can input 19.16.1.10. Is there anyone hahving this problem before???

Hello,

i'm using this ROM for several Days now, and it's nearly perfect, except this:

it make itself an softreset when i'm starting an program, surf the web or navigate.

Its very annoying because it dont make this once a day (i makle it by myself) but sometimes every minute. I have flash the original rom bevore this one, so where can it gone wrong? How can I fix it?

yeah i noticed 23016 was fairly slow the 23053 is by far the best ROM i've ever used the scrolling is soo smooth, but you can tell it still suffers from the HTC Driver problems. had i known of all these problems with the polaris i would've bought a different phone, although if i an scrape enough money together i think im gunna buy a HD2 or a HD if neither of them then an Acer Neotouch

Quería decir, que si podrían incluir para las siguientes rom alguna opción estando la pantalla apagada (con el movil encendido) le pudieras dar a cualquier botón del móvil y que te aparezca el slide botton o el home.No apretar solamente el botón de encendido para que la pantalla aparezca, que sea sensible a cualquier boton.

PCarvalho if you release another ROM(as we all hope you do) could you please do at least 2 versions? i´ll explain.

No one uses both Manilla and Titanium at the same time and i guess no one switches beetween the two often,either use one or another(this is all me guessing off course).

My suggestion is 3 ROM´s:One with manilla.
One with Titanium.
And last but not least,without both of them.

I dont know how much work this would give you,mostly with web space i guess...but it would be a great idea.

What would be really great is a 6.5 naked ROM or a "pimped" titanium version.

For a couple of weeks now I have been using these 2 ROMS in my Orbit2:

[COM3] 23017:
pcarvalho eXtreme (3.3D.WM65X) ROM 3.19 R0 Release (79MB RAM) (with 3D drivers) [23016]

[COM3-Alfa] 23053 (WM 6.5.X GUI type test version):pcarvalho eXtreme (3.60.WM65X) ROM 3.19 R0 Release (101MB RAM) [23053-New OEMs-New contacts from 23414][29SEP]

23017 I found to be responsive & stable - as a 1st experience of flashing my phone it was great to have such such a good experience. :)

I did have some problems with running out of memory & so many times apps were getting terminated, but not much more so than with the stock 6.1 O2 ROM I was running.

Unfortunately when I installed ACR it completely wrecked the installation - when I soft reset my phone it complained that some ACR related files were missing & failed to complete the boot.

So I re-flashed using 23053 from 29 September & really like the improved buttons at the bottom of the screen. Haven't had any problems with apps terminating due to memory problems. However, it is abit wobbly, freezing up from time to time or the screen refuses to come out of sleep... haven't been able to pin any pattern to it but still thinking about it. Also the wifi is continually "connecting" instead of actually getting "connected".

I did take a look at pdaviet's latest ROM - whilst I like the additional information he has crammed into Titanium, it was a bit too busy for me so I would ideally like to see something with a few easily configurable options to turn on/off some of the additional information panels.

Really looking forward to the final 23053 release (maybe with 3D?) or maybe a release based on the official MS release of 6.5? I am enjoying your work pcarvalho!! :)

Hi, I'm using ROM [23053-New OEMs-New contacts from 23414][29SEP] with Topaz style notification for Tasks, Reminders etc. When Task arises I can either Dismiss it or Snoose it. But if I wanna Snoose it I can't choose the period of snoosing (it'll snoose for 5 minutes).
Any idea where can I set up choosing of period in Topaz style notification? Thanks.

In Topaz style notification when Task arises and I press this Task, I can edit it. But if I choose a pole for set up Calendar date in this Task, no Calendar window will appear.

So I can't choose a Snoose period and I can't edit date of Task - it's a problem for me cause I'm using Task very often.

Not sure if it has to do anything with it, but please check your current radio version.
You might have to downgrade it separately before actually flashing another rom.

oh yeah i have the same freeze here. when i close an SMS or email, the top bar stays frozen and then it unfreezes after 10-15seconds. a bit annoying but bearable!

i dont actually used it to be honest, but kostas on his ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554071)seems to have it working just fine. I just tap the X, programs minimize and when i'm out in the home screen i tap the hour and close everything. also another solution is to bind CleanRam to a hard key and clean the mob once every while :) 40-45Mb of free ram are enough actually for any application ;)

i have a 200Mb Data Plan... never got passed 80 and i browse a lot. each month i download pcars ROM at a cafe and flash from the SD so i wont left any precius mbs back :P i payed for em :P

Search for the noob tutorial as i my bookmarks are screwed but end of the day you need to have hard-spl and then you can flash this one onto it.

sorry, but i dont do this for the money...it would take the same time...quality cant be made by speeding thing ;)
and for 200€ it would have to be a very custom job...from themes to programs...or a year of real support...

Dam i was hoping that you would maybe get one so i could continue using ur roms :( o well some things do have to change i guess. Still waiting for the next release (patiently) havent changed the rom on mine for ages its well asking for some new sw now :). Keep up the work!

You only have the programs in home screen just touch the clock.

well my friend... the old polaris is a bit toooo old for new stuff! it's responding pretty well but memory consumption is pretty high. try installing a 3d rom and memory consumption will be near 80 ;) it's high, but not because of rom but because of lack of resources

well issues of com3 are not because of the cooks. m$ has not yet finalized com3. this particular rom is actually pretty good! been using it for almost a month and not many issues. almost all of the issues are compatibility issues from progs.

pcar is working on a new rom. maybe wait a few days and try that one... usually pcar's roms are 150% better than previous versions ;) issues will still remain but because of programs not wanting to resize for wm6.5.x

- installing Copilot Live
- Pocket Controller Pro 6.02 (very useful software especially with my 'boxwave' cradle)
- Update my city in the weather
- Change the task manager options in others to sort by memory & use small icons
- and that's about it i think...anything else would be very minor

I - And many others - had the exact same problem as you. I find it's particularly common when changing between 6.5 Roms (like Kostas's to Pcar's or vice-versa)... anyway, the solution is easy - download a HTC original Polaris rom - you can find a link to one in Pcar's first post on this thread.

Once you have installed the HTC rom you can then go and re-flash Pcar's rom over the top, hard reset when you get to the screen alignment setup and you should be good to go.

Note that when flashing to the HTC rom it will re-flash your radio too, so if you don't use the one on Pcar's post then you may find yourself using an old (1.58.xx) radio rom and will need to update that to 1.59.xx or 1.65.xx as well (otherwise your phone will misbehave and your camera won't work)

Well, I think this is pretty unnecessary to discuss. If you don't like Polaris performance buy a new device. If you like it, don't. do what ever you like. And it's a question of what you want of your device.

I'm using Pcarvalho's WM 6.5 ROM and I'm pretty satisfied with it. It's much faster and better than original WM6.0 and WM6.1.
And it's working at least same as modded WM 6.1 ROM that I used.

I can't say difference in performance between it and my girlfriend's Xperia with original WM 6.1 ROM.

And android is working pretty well on my device.

So I say as long as we have nice people to develop for this device it can be used for years more.

hr means hard reset (like formatting a computer and reinstalling operating system)
MC is memory card

REMEMBER: this are not issues from pcars rom, they exist in all newer builds for some reason.

you MUSTN'T reflash original before upgrading to new rom, but it's highly recommented to avoid problems like hr and mc loss :)

no its does not make a new device but since our cruise is the 2006 model it hasn't got as much ram as those 2...so we dont have all resources that we could have if we had 256mb for ram...another problem...we have outdated drivers, big problem for most recent and better htc programs (album, full screen player, fm radio, etc)...

I'm very curious about the final version. For example version 23053 runs very bad on my Cruise, I had a lot of problems with it. But rom version 23017 runs well (sometimes I can not see soft keys, but if I run Contacts, keys will apperar again). My experience is the newest version of WM6.5 means worse Tasks and Calendar for users - less user-friendly.

afaik no you cant if you want to do that use finger keyboard, that definately has the option to do it. Then again i may be proved wrong by someone else...

Also took a look at the mega (this one is leo) 2.1 keyboard and the keyboard png's have the letters hard written onto it so i dont hink that without a lot of work you will be able to change them around. Therefore i will say try fingerkeyboard as that should do the job

sorry but it is possible...search 4 the language code + .xml file
for ex: 0A09.xml is one of english keyboard types layout
file name code 0XYY.xml, where X is layout (A,B,C,D) an YY is final 2 digits form language code (wwe english is 0409)
just open is up and edit layout...

Could be that it is stated as alpha (EDIT: not alpha but beta, point still stands) on the first post... Just a thought and its also very early com3 build which well isnt meant for full use more testing and checking to see for bugs by m$

Good Morning All!

I'm using the 23053 (new apps) of 29.09. and after 6 weeks of intense usage I encounter suddenly following problems:
- the backlight switch-off had been [soemhow, I don't know] changed to 10 seconds
- "no prob", I thought and went to advanced battery settings and changed it back to 1 minute.
- BUT: It didn't change. Also after re-boots, softresets, I find the entry "after one minute" in the advanced settings, actually it switches off after 10 seconds

One more issue - and the combination makes it hardly bearable:
My mail sync program (OneBridge) used to pretended the device from turning off... now (don't know if this is related to the version?) not anymore.

When sync'ing with WLAN... you can imagine... it turns off (including WLAN off), many times in sync (keeping alive through touching the screen all the time is a no-go, the sync takes approx 5 to 10 minutes). I have to turn on the device again... and WLAN re-connects only then... the sync has failed (OneBridge Problem: the time-out is lengthy, so I can't stop it then for nearly 15 minuts.

All together makes the WLAN-Sync and update (also weather update!) through WLAN absolutely impossible!

Anyone any help? How could I keep alive WLAN for example? How could I prevent the device from going into off mode after seconds? Maybe only with certain applications (I think I once saw an application, that allowed the definition like "application manager +" or something)

you can try to use microsoft myphone to synchronise your sms.. but i'm not sure if there is a limit.. as you have 3000 sms....

sorry but it is possible...search 4 the language code + .xml file
for ex: 0A09.xml is one of english keyboard types layout
file name code 0XYY.xml, where X is layout (A,B,C,D) an YY is final 2 digits form language code (wwe english is 0409)
just open is up and edit layout...

And why would they pay him...the chances are you would buy another HTC...thats all they want...otherwise what would they do with the 10/15 models they are realising per year.
They should pay him because he makes their piece of s*it phones work ... before i started using the roms here i was so upset with the original rom, it lacked any functionality ... speed ... or anything else which could make you purchase a second phone from the same company ... if it wasnt for xda-developers, would you purchase a WM phone ?

well, you must have missed something...i have swapped letters (z<->y 4 ex) from one layout to another...the xml's change canvas and char input...check one language that has your layout and rename it to your language...remember to change language code in xml, as just renaming will not work...should work then...

been testing 23075 and has lots of issues...plus m$ is changing scrolling...and things are slower...opera is very slow...gonna proceed with build 218XX to make things WM6.5 current...im also working on joining most keyboards into one...this will take time...

I wanted to change the background to one that is mostly white and therefore cannot see the text on alot of the manilla stuff. I have found where i think the colours are stored in HTCSoundSettings.xml.
But I cannot save it, it seems to be well sorta corrupted as the only program that will open, to a viewable state is Komodo Editor, notpad++, word pad, notepad all give garbage out. This therefore leaves a little problem

Du think i could recreate the xml fine? Only issue is that it has a security cert attached to it... Any ideas on what to do next would be good. Also is it the right file?

on all the pcar roms ive tried, my connections seem to keep dropping out. it is always connecting to hsdpa/3g, disconnecting and then trying to connect again. and after some time, when i try and make a call, i get a message saying that "cannot complete the call" and i have to turn off all connections and then turn on all connections in order for me to make a call. these problems are presumably related to the radio. i currently have the 1.59.46.12 radio on my polaris. is anyone else experieicning this issue? is there a better radio i should be using?

well 23XXX COM3 and above i call them alfa builds...the work and all but have many issues...

try 23081...but it does have bugs/issues...

First impression of the new ROM: No visible changes to 23053??

Nearly everything works fine, but the small task manager in home screen (upper right corner) doesn't work. No chance to open it. Any hints?
I had some problems to enter the Wifi-Key. Copy and paste solved this problem.

23081 seems to crash somehow - when I left the phone for some time, the screen gets off, led is flashing but it is not responding on power button and I have to soft reset the phone. It happened three times so far.
I'm using TouchFlo and Wifi was on.

Also, Opera seems to crash TouchFlo sometimes. When quitting Opera TouchFlo has to reload, anyone else experienced this?

EDIT: Have switched to Windows Default from TouchFlo to test, so far no crashing...

Ya, i do face the same problem too, it just become freezed and not responding no matter what button you press. it just don't wake up. the only way is to SR. even it is not in charging mode.... so far i encounter 3 times already.

I have the crash problem also, I did not flash original first, I thought crashes might be due to Mobile Shell installation but from the previous posts its seems not. I did change power settings to a brighter screen on battery and "stay on" on charge. I usually leave my phone on a docking station during the day and it seems it crashes after removal from the docking station.
will have to try the original rom tonite to see if it clears the problem

if you mean htc volume control, it doesn't work as m$ made some kind of direct hook to the volume to popup its own volume control...

they made it once compatible, but then broke it...i guess its new API gets skinned, old...not yet...

I have an issue with the manilla weather on home page, I found this "so i found the culprit. it was the "footprints" cab. i have NO idea WTF it does but as soon as i install it, the weather location quits working. when i uninstall it, softreset and try the weathing again, it works perfectly. i did this 3 times in a row with the same result."
Just wondering if it's possible to remove footprints or is it a non starter being cooked into the rom.

So far there has been no consistency with the crashing, can be up to 10 minutes can be a couple of hours.

Haven't touched the power options, will try flashing original rom and back to latest and greatest but someone above has tried this and it didn't work so lets see what happens...

Should I did a Hardreset after every Flash? I thought that a Flash is like a Hardreset, isn't it so?

you should cause it's needed so custom roms programs will install over. anw long story :P just do it :)

Unfortunately I have the power issue, too. I was previously using 23053 version without this problem.

here i am experiencing power issue and random freezes as well, and the screen movement is no longer as smooth as 23053, there is no "bump" effect when we scroll the screen to the end ....and yes, I have flashed back to official rom, and hard reset after flash. Bluetooth headset is working, Wifi is working.

Hi,

Am I the only one getting slower response from my cruise? It doesn't feel as sensitive as before.. There's a pretty long delay between "when the screen dims out" and "the backlight turns on again" when i tap the screen..

Any ideas why?

Also, i think total commander which comes with the rom is not exactly compatible as there is no "x" or "close" button anymore.. u gotta go through all the menu options before u can close it.. (though, i could be wrong if it has always been this way)

i've the 23081 installed and can only choose between default (ironman) or an standard-blue background. If i select any other picture as background nothing happens :(

@der-nickel : yes i can change the image, go album&picture choose your file, menu/set as home background/ok done!
@vasek77 : search few page back i gave the solution by a little modification on the registry to remove/change this text

well for now (until solution) i removed the turn of device from the mob so i will not have the problem :P not a solution but a temporary thingy

I would guess power settings, same place you see the battery info. Cant say more but it will be somewhere in settings have a hunt for it.

I I take to report another issue only for pcar information, today i receive one text message and then my device vibrate, the problem was that the device do not stop vibrating, only I cant stop the vibrate with soft-reset.
I do all that pcarvalho recomended, I flashed the original first, etc etc etc.

Thank pcarvalho for the rom, is more fast, and uses less ram memory that the 23053 Version of 29/9. Congratulations!!!!. Excellent works.

@pcarvalho There are some little bug with position of the dialer when taking a call due to the old top bar which was bigger so now we have a little empty space appear some times and the bottom bar is sometimes over button on history call menu.

The Rom is great thanks for the great work had upgraded to 23081 two days ago. the power issue is not fixed with the temp solution. if you switch the phone using the power button (sometimes when you switch it on it does not work).

I also had a problem if you start total commander how can you close it off specially if the clock is on place of the "x".
to turn it off I used the end key.

one last thing how can I remove the clock from the task bar.

You can also use the File/Exit menu option. ;)

Jumped from 23016 to this new 23081 but unfortunately it's still quite unstable for daily usage.

Great job though pcarvalho ;) I hope you can sort the bugs out. Definitely you have one of the best ROMs here!

I'm currently testing PDAViet 23414 and it seems pretty good too.

Hey man your non 3D Rom works perfectly, But i upgraded to the 3D version and my device freezes on the windows boot screen. I've absolutly no idea how to downgrade to the previous Rom because my computer no longer recognises my cruise.

put a rom on your sd (with a card reader), rename it to POLAIMG.nbh, press camera button and soft reset

OR

press camera button and soft reset. when in tricolor screen your pc can recognize the device

After installation of pcarvalho ROM21017 i add a hebrew support language. after that i can't surf with the PIE6. it look's like the page is coming up but i can't see a anything, only the color of the page is changed,no pictures or text.:(
can i configure the font path of PIE6, that i can install a different fonts only for the PIE6?

I see no options for reminder to be snoozed. If you press snooze button, the reminder will pop up again may be in 5 minutes.

HOWEVER, I did search through this useful site and found this cab http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3716251&postcount=2280 can be installed and you will get the options to snooze like in WM6.1. You only have to accept that the user interace is backward to the old-day standard reminder! Anyway, I think it's way much better than not being able to select a snooze interval! (ps. I found this solution works only on 23081 27-Oct and some old roms of pcarvalho but not on 23053 29-SEP)

For me, I'm very pleased that the reminder snooze options can be recalled once again on pcarvalho 23081 ROM. Thanks again for your ROM, pcarvalho. U are the BEST!
