I've flashed and updated my polaris with your eXtreme ROM since november 2009, and i must say it's fabulous...

Just a small question here, how can i uninstall or remove the software that installed on your ROM?
like manila, youtube, and stuff?

The phone frequently freezes and touch does not work for a few seconds after which it starts working again. Atleast twice a day, the phone freezes altogether and I have to do a soft reset. i have been using it for a while too.

I still can't overwrite the weather file to use a custom weather site using total commander, but figure that is my problem. i overwrite that HH_409_we...but it never works.

I get frequent freezes too, and i am using the radio that came with the rom. 1.59.42.15 is what it reads.

i was reading along, and it seems there is a problem in it, since you actually stated you were unable to crash a newer version of the rom using both mail/sms stuff. That is usually where mine freezes up. Either one of those two, especially lock it it up if there is mail or messages.

the other thing, that dang phone dialer is wacky, if i am on an automated phone system, requiring entering a bunch of numbers thru the keypad. Half the time the screen goes white, i have to pull back up the number pad from the bottom button and all sorts of stuff. It is highly unpredictable.

1)in the home page (default with titanium) after an incoming missed call, if I select "phone" it shows the number of who called instead of the name even if I have that contact in my address book

I Used to have freeze problems too, but moved to Radio ROM 1.59.46.12, and haven't had any problems since.

because if I browse the windows messaging is very slow and when you open the task manager to "kill" the process SMS windows lock??
otherwise, pressing the X think it would be much more interesting if it ended the program, and not stay in the background ... and having to kill with the task manager ....
one more thing, when it locked, and I answer the call, is a screen where I can not see contacts, notes .... have any tips?

try the radio i use (see my signature / the one for polaris of course(!)). not using pcarvalhos rom, but had the freezes too once. using the metioned radio stopped them.

i have two small problems with your rom

when i receive a new sms, the screen turns on and display the new sms, but i dont hear anything and my device also doesnt vibrate.

older versions could flash the orange led, so i could see there was a new sms or a missing call withour turning on the display, is this feature not supported in newer versions of winmo 6.5 at all?

I know I have download now the files I reflashing again and test. My connection is ok ....if I install the rom 3LIT3_VIII_Full_WWE this work fine for me no lag.....is very strange. I have a TD2 and i have not problem....:confused:

I am running OS 5.2.28014 (28014.5.5.0) with the 3.6.WM65X.WWE ROM and have recently run into a new issue where TouchFLO refuses to load. I have been running the phone for many months now without issue and have recently added an Exchange email account back which has been able to sync normally but I recently performed a soft reset and now I get to the Today screen and all I get is the "Tap Here to Launch TouchFLO" and upon doing this it acts like it is going to launch it and then reverts back the the previously mentioned message. I have not been able to get it to launch. What might have changed or what should I try to get it working again. From my memory, after a soft reset it did usually take a while for TouchFLO to auto launch after the reset (I have never had to force it to start previously). Thanks for any help on this!!

Yesterday I've burned your latest ROM (23547) into my CRUISE and after that I've installed some softwares like iGO 8, TOM TOM 7, Resco Explorer 2010 v8.00, Resco Photo Manager v7.03, Resco Keyboard Pro v5.23 and Resco Contact Manager ver 2.05 in the mentionated order and everything was OK.
This morning I tried to utilize some previous installed softwares (for example Resco Explorer) but I've got the following message: "The file 'Explorer' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file".
Moreover I noticed that in the Remove Programs menu there is nothing :eek:
What happened? Can someone help me? Thanks folks

tried 3d version and then the non-3d version. loved it, but then it only give me 14MB give me left for program space!!. i restart all over again the reflashing procedure. put in the non-3d version. suddently, i cannot see my storage card. upon checking the properties of the storage card, it still being filled up with all my files. but i cannot see the files. i connect back to my computer and try to access my storage card from PC, it still empty,but the properties shows there still my files there.

thought might the flashing problem, thinking to reflash with other rom. i reflash hard-spl, reflash with original rom, then my computer gives problem, even the active syns says it is connected, but when i want to reflash with wm6.5 rom again, the reflashing program says my phone not connected to the pc. what wrong??. any one can help.

If you have backup on the memory card its no problem. Try install the rom 24-Dec-Merry Xmas.....and try to disable the encrypter maybe work. The best you can do next time before playng and test many rom....do a backup with outlook after you can do wat you want. next time use activesync and all yours adressbook is back in the phone again....

this is a flash problem that comes from time to time...flash again :)

in this way:

flash Orginal rom + hard reset if you see the calibration screen after that flash pcarvalho´s rom also with a hard reset....after a complete boot a soft reset

you can change to older wm 6.5 with ok on top or...use the upper right (end phone) hardkey....and for complete end prog go to a taskmgr...

You can stop running the program if you hold the window botton on the left down, pop up a menu with all program you running just now and you can close them.

Unfortunately, no. And to the end button, too. But except GPS and IE buttons you can reassign actions to Camera (Button 3), Voice Dial (Button 4) press and Voice Dial hold.

I found this thread for 3G dialer...and it's working for me:)
The way this works is first you need to install DJKoa_3G_Dialer and then install the Kane 3G Dialer. This will get you a fully functional 3G Dialer for 6.5.3 Builds.

ps: dont forget to upgrade as stated; start button and X button have dual functionality (tap and tap&hold), taskmanager for now is wm6.5 default cause i dont like the ones out there yet; autoinstall built-in so can install your favorite programs on 1st boot (cab editing my be needed to install to Memory Card)...

This as usual up to your standards, even though i don't use it when i went to set the time, in clocks and alarms, if you use the date picker

click set
sent to alarms, and cannot get back.
Then exit and have to set date by keyboard.

Apart from this seems to be excellent!

also i saw you dropped 3rd party task managers, i found every single has major battery drain issues, so good choice there. :)

they are different build trees from M$ pcar has expalined it very well and so have others, more info is around.

One has the new outlook, Some are more stable, but as far as updates go far as i know and see its random.

i dont have 23557 on my device right now, but as i recall it was working...will check this asap...thanks for reporting...if anyone else could check this so i can rule out flashing issues that would be great...

This as usual up to your standards, even though i don't use it when i went to set the time, in clocks and alarms, if you use the date picker

click set
sent to alarms, and cannot get back.
Then exit and have to set date by keyboard.

Apart from this seems to be excellent!

also i saw you dropped 3rd party task managers, i found every single has major battery drain issues, so good choice there. :)

I have one slight issue with Email which I'm not sure if its local to me so hoping someone can confirm or not. There doesn't seem to be the options for configuring email that used to be available. I have no way of setting the size of the email to download and whether or not to download pictures. It seems one of the email config screens is missing. As such only part of the emails are initially downloaded. Anyone else having this issue - if not - I'll reflash the ROM.

yes, some email-settings are only accessible using the ms-email-setup. the skinned htc-setup misses quite some. but no big deal bout that, simply use the other one in start menu. ;)

opera works fine here - use on first start the link from start menu (not manila), as you have to accept operas user license agreement!

the problems with data-connection sometimes not recoverable i noticed through all (costum-)roms yet. no solutions found... :( radio-related??? guess not...

Hello, I am not being able to flash the ROM at all. Whenever I click on ROMUpdateUtility that comes in the package, I am getting error 208. According to the ReadMe doc, the recommendation is to download the package again and re-try. However, its not working like that as well.
Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong? Am I missing something here?

Another problem I have is that when the telephone is password protected and locked and receive a call... when trying to answer the telephone freezes and I have to soft reset in order to get it back.

Does anyone know how I can reduce the font size for New SMS and both New Email and reading Emails.
Reading SMS (threaded) and message headers in Inbox - the size is perfect BUT either opening an email or trying to create a new SMS/Email it's like someone has just strapped a magnifying glass to my screen :rolleyes:. I know I'm getting older but does it really need to be this big? :D

I'll upgrade to the latest build soon but don't think I've hit the 'draw' issue yet (not using Ndrive).

This is definitely the best ROM out for the Polaris devices.

MTTY is a tool that runs under windows on your PC. It can be used to perform some actions (like formatting the ROM and many others) on your phone. So it's not something that you have on your Polaris. Personally I've never used MTTY, but, since I've flashed so many ROMs and I'm starting to see some strange behaviours on my Polaris, I'm interested to perform a "task 29".
How can we find a RUU that does this on our Polaris (like the one in the video does on Leo)?

I've got two problems:
1) when ending a phone call, a bar full of icons appears beneath the top bar (the one with clock and battery status).
2) randomly it happens that: I connect bluetooth headset (icon confirms connection), then I use the voice dialer to select a contact, the call begins but it is not routed to the headset (i.e. it remains like a normal call, active on the phone speaker). Majority of calls the call is routed, sometimes it is not. I used two different headsets, same problem.

Can someone help me please?
Titanium interface is active and I'm using radio 1.59.46.12, so don't think its radio fault.

I can't use anything because the phone was blocked in "smart mobility" page.

I've done a Rom Update Utility that performs task 29 instead of task 28 after flashing.

You can not use it to flash a ROM as it erases all ROM memory after flashing. However, you can use it to flash a Radio or a Bootscreen, because they are not getting erased by the task 29.

WARNING!!! This RUU will completely erase your current ROM making your phone unbootable until you flash it with a new one. So, after using it you'll need to go into the bootloader mode and flash a ROM of your choice.

How do you do this?

After this utility finishes flashing it will reboot the phone and you'll be stuck at the boot screen (the one with smart mobility words).
Soft-reset your phone with the stylus while holding a Camera button.
You'll get into the tricolor screen with the word Serial on white background. Plug your USB cable in.
Wait until the word Serial changes to USB. Now you can start the flashing process as usual.


We need a dummy .nbh file for this RUU to work. While we don't have one, we can use a Radio or a Boot screen. In fact, we can use any .nbh. Even with ROM, but why waiting about 10 minutes to flash a ROM that gets erased right after flashing? :)

DISCLAIMER: Though, I have tested this RUU on my Polaris and it worked fine, I am not responsible for any possible damage, data loss or device bricking caused by it. USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

P.S.: Do we still need to do a hardreset after flashing pcarvalho's ROM if we use task 29?

im building my own taskbar icons and m$ notification ones...its mostly based on android notification icons and now i would like to make the batery...would you all like some kind of % or just new icons? if its % the battery will probably look like a simple rectangular...so if you find any very nice 16x16 batery icons just post them here...it may inspire me more ;)

Try to install the rom again, when you connect the usb cable the serial must turn to usb.

If it doesn't happen you have one last resort. You'll need a microSD card and a card reader for this:

Unpack an archive with the ROM of your choice. You'll find a file named RUU_signed.nbh or something similar (anyway it'll have an .nbh extension).
Rename this file to POLAIMG.NBH and copy to the root of your microSD card.
Now plug your microSD card to your phone and turn it on.
Short after you get into the tri-color screen you should see a prompt about flashing.
Just do it :)

I've done a Rom Update Utility that performs task 29 instead of task 28 after flashing.

You can not use it to flash a ROM as it erases all ROM memory after flashing. However, you can use it to flash a Radio or a Bootscreen, because they are not getting erased by the task 29.

WARNING!!! This RUU will completely erase your current ROM making your phone unbootable until you flash it with a new one. So, after using it you'll need to go into the bootloader mode and flash a ROM of your choice.

How do you do this?

After this utility finishes flashing it will reboot the phone and you'll be stuck at the boot screen (the one with smart mobility words).
Soft-reset your phone with the stylus while holding a Camera button.
You'll get into the tricolor screen with the word Serial on white background. Plug your USB cable in.
Wait until the word Serial changes to USB. Now you can start the flashing process as usual.


We need a dummy .nbh file for this RUU to work. While we don't have one, we can use a Radio or a Boot screen. In fact, we can use any .nbh. Even with ROM, but why waiting about 10 minutes to flash a ROM that gets erased right after flashing? :)

DISCLAIMER: Though, I have tested this RUU on my Polaris and it worked fine, I am not responsible for any possible damage, data loss or device bricking caused by it. USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

P.S.: Do we still need to do a hardreset after flashing pcarvalho's ROM if we use task 29?

In fact, when I connect it I can view a new network device but not a mobile device :(

Have you seen this kind of problem before?

If you know how the synchronize via the BT, it could be a solution for me :)

I also have that problem too. The navigation wheel is not responded. And, I also have a problem with the right button (D-Pad). I don't know if it's the hardware problem. Just wanna check on your guys.

been very busy lately, haven't had much time for anything, add to add more work now im gonna have to spend some time working on my car cause i crashed it last tuesday...so now its work, work, work to fix my car quickly...dont have time to post all that im working on...but currently its taskbar icons, fixing wm6.5.x positioning of some OEM's...got 23563 running on my device with some of those and its better looking now...once its better (more finished) it will be released...

restart....flash Orginal rom + hard reset if you see the calibration screen after that flash pcarvalho´s rom also with a hard reset....after a complete boot a soft reset

I'm using your latest rom, and in every earlier rom I had the same problem, sometimes the keyboard locker doesn't work when I press and hold the red key, and when that happens the phone keyboard starts writing numbers instead of letters, I can't figure out how that two problems are related, but they are somehow connected, I installed your rom on a new polaris that a friend bought and the same happens, but the bug is exporadic.
And also, when the press disconnect button to lock does not work, instead of vibrate and lock it makes a bip an does nothing.

Hope you understand my explanation.

ERROR [240] : FILE OPEN

When this error message appears, check whether the downloaded image is placed in the directory of RUU. If, for some unknown reason, you find that the ROM image is not located in the RUU folder, you have to download the RUU and retry again. Check that the contents of the folder is a CustomRUU.exe file and an .nbh file. If you put the os-new.nb file in by mistake instead of the .nbh, this is the error that shows up. Thanks ConfusedSTU. Also this occurs due to permission problems. Try moving the RUU folder to the root Hard drive directory, and ensure you are an administrator. Running RUU from a briefcase rather than an ordinary folder gave me this error, but it was fine when I moved th RUU foler out of the briefcase(XP OS.

I've installed the rom pcarvalho_eXtreme_(23557_Beta_non3D)_ROM_3.19_Rele ase.rar.html on my HTC Polaris, and with a new start i have a free memory off 39Mb.

After some time my memory is gone tho 29Mb.

What can I do to get more free memory?

When I want to start Igo 8, and find an adres, I've get a signal that I have too less memory, and Igo shuts down.

After 2 months of testing the last 3d version (Xmas version) I found the following problems:


2 MOST Annoying problems:

1) SENT MAILS ARE NOT RECORDED even if the settings are set to do so.

2) The big spacing between the records (or files) in all the lists is very annoying.
It's really against productivity, since it's a waste of screen space.
(That's in all the lists like "to do" or the list of files in the folders, or in "notes")
If I remember right the spacing in the old [23016] version was way smaller, and therefore better.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Minor problems:

3) Sometimes the memory is 98% full even with all the programs closed ....

4) Some random freeses while im doing some standard operations in the menu ... (I have to soft reset 1-2 times a day..)

Otherwise the rom is great! And I love the speed of the 3d version, really can't go back to anything no3D !

I have your latest rom installed on my polaris and love it, it has some little bugs but one thing i noticed is my wifi is getting pretty hot just as in early android hot. Anyone else has this isseu or is it my phone?

Where? The phone memory or the storage card? I'm talking about several files, each of them 2-3 MB big. Furthermore I would like to take advantage of my pretty large discoteque onto the storage card without moving files from a folder to another.

There is no problem with the 23557 Build. MemMaid is getting installed normaly once i hard reset my moble. I think initialy GARMIN installation created a problem and no other software is getting installed.

Do I have to use the full recommended procedure also when I go from the 23547 version to the [23557] (non3D) [16-Apr] (fixed) version? Or can I just flash it over the current one? :confused:

1.i tried (noob) to replace manila icons without making a backup (end noob). is there a way i can resume the standard icons? a cab or rar file? i found in the first post only "old wm icons", but not manila ones. and, 4 the future, is this a normal manila version or a custom one?
2. bluetooth pairing fails with my car built-in system (designed for wm). may it depend on radiorom (i have original one)? may i apply official btooth patch to custom rom?
3. outlook goes in error ("cannot connect with current connection settings") after config of my gmail acct. i have wap connection that works (as u can see) 4 other programs such as opera and manila weather tab...
tx in advance and sorry 4 my poor english, and if some questions are old-school, please be patient, as i'm a newbie.
p.s. pcarvalho, really stunning rom, i'll buy u a beer.

menu issue: in menu with more than 1 page like sms one (see menu-insert) i suppose 'back' should go to the previous menu screen and 'close' should close the whole menu. they both close the whole menu if i'm right...

1. Ok. I was just wondering how to restore your icons, cause i did some attempts without doing backup. Do I have to hard-reset?

2. I've just done some more tests but did not find a solution: i post some detais.
The car system is the blue&me developed by MS, built-in on my new car. From the car menu I start the "register" tool, it givs me a PIN, then I have to search 4 new devices on the Polaris Bluetooth menu, connect to the Blue&Me, insert the given PIN and then it's all done.
Original rom worked fine, so it's not hardware problem. 23557,instead, finds the blue&me device, but when i attempt to connect, stays for a while and then returns the message "Pairing failed" or smth like that, and do not ask for any pin.
To be sure, i made the device visible, activate sim sharing and everything else...

3. I did some other test: outlook (and manila widget, they bot have the same problem) works fine if i'm connected with home wi-fi network, with the same gmail configuration, so it's not a problem of imap compatibility or bad account settings.
With only wap connection available, instead, I select "send/receive" and immediatly returns "cannot connect with current connection settings".
The message is really quick, so I think it does not even try to connect with wap settings.
As I said, Opera, weather tab and other apps works fine in the same circumstances.

im currently porting ezinput 2.2 (it will have on-the-fly language change, just need to fix the xt9 tap positioning, will be at least 2 weeks more of work till its done)
making my own taskbar icon (in color)
fixing some positioning errors (gaps) that wm6.5.x makes on older oem
porting newer framework to fix date/time plugin plus other small issues
working on some issues posted here

We are hearing in the Windows Phone 7 forums that the ROM is getting ready for some of the higher end devices.

How will be the idea, if you start work on Windows Phone 7 ROM for the POLARIS devices once you are through with the present build what you are working on.

I and the community people are more than confident with your expertise that you can deliver the Windows Phone 7 ROM at a faster pace and takes the experience of the POLARIS users to the next level.

yes it is, but the tap issue is proving complicated, will have to patch it somewhere...if i cant find that im not releasing it, to bad cause it could have more languages :)

i'm having the same problem, is there any fix around this? spb keyboard 3.0 seems to work but it has nothing to do with the 4.0+ version, spb doesn't have a solution to this yet :S

if spb hasn't fixed it, i will not be the one that will, sorry...im currently working on leo (mixed by myself with more functionalities) keyboard (dropped photon for now) maybe its dll's are better for any keyboard issues...

I am sorry if it has already been answered but what's the differences between 23557 and 28008 (or at least tha major ones)? Does 23557 include the htc eye-candy menus (com.manager, bluetooth etc)?

but i had the porblem here..
sometime when i get hang..when i reset it..
it become hard-reset..this cause me need to re-setting my program again:mad:..
and it will add 1 more reset icon in menu..
can i noe how to solve dis??
