have you had any problem during download?! maybe restarted it again? ... sometime the files get messed up and you have to download them again

its a rar file so in any downoading problems it should come up with CRC error i suppose

I have fond one small bug but I have find the solution.

If u see the icons "wrong" or the color in menu are black the solution is make one Hard-reset. I think the problem is in costumatization (on first boot) but i'm not sure about it.

well do this...delete whatever you have, make a new folder, re-download, re-flash...re-Hard Reset...basically start all over again...

something you are doing isn't ok....

only way you could get pdaviet's rom with my bootscreen is if it had no bootscreen...i think i has...but have not used it so i dont know...

and check/change radio version...

the problem is on your end my friend i cant do anything...sorry

haha that's excellent. i was on a friends house when you posted. i downloaded the rom through edge and installed it through the sd. it was worth waiting. tested the wifi also, 2laptops and 3 mobs connected! impressive!

I have the same radio and my previous rom was 3lit3 VIII.

It remains at the "Starting Windows" for a very long time and at a certain point I tried to touch the screen, I eared a sound. I wait 2 or 3 min. more then it started.

It takes a long times to did the configuration too, but I like the rom and I would like to see the 3D version too.

A issued a bug.

after first boot up of new ROM (after customization) the screen was split in half and upper part was down an lower part was up.
start tray was in the middle of the screen.

softreset fixed this.
after that I did Hard reset and everything went fine without this bug.

I always do HARD RESET after flashing new rom. just after everything is over. in future I'll do it at calibration point. it'll save me some time :-) thank you for pointing that out for me.


Problem is still here.
Contacts just opened only in upper half of screen. through lower part I could see titanium today.(it was just one time)
and screen seems a little slow in response and it hitches a little.


I don't know if that could be because of Hard reset at wrong time.
I could try to flash it again. but not until tomorrow evening since I wake up for work in 5 hours.

okz, after some testing I found 2 minor bugs

these are all known bugs...
1st is due to m$ not finishing what it started, fix would be to use gwes.exe from build 23001, but i choose not to as more testing would be involved and i couldn't predict what would happen in time...should not be a major problem...its just something that will be fixed by m$ eventually...if i dont find the fix before ;)
2nd is me not finishing what i started, its there just for testing...

Wifi Router is really cool and works perfect. Will do some speed tests later and add my results here.

For now what i have seen this is just perfect, smooth response and no hiccups.

im gonna have to spend some time looking into 3G dialers...none of them offer the features that this 2G does...thats why i never cooked one...really hate all current 3G dialers...and the one i like is impossible to port to qvga...htc should make a new one...i guess you'll just have to wait...

There really is a difference between the speed.
However i can't live with the amount of ram after using your previous 3D build.

So now sticking to your non 3D.

Firstly, I went to setting -> system -> connections -> wifi internet sharing and make automatical settings and then restart my pda
After SR i went to the program folder and started scroll up and down... and found unpeasant bug :( I recorded video, here it is:

i haven't had any of these issues...but its all m$ fault...not mine...but as i said have yet seen any bug with the startmenu...a SR should put you back on track...

specially once some heavy plugins (like CDigiClock or WM7 Theme, etc.) are installed the Titanium and the system goes slow... even after unistalling them the system doesnot back to the original speed!!!

it happens for some of the programs too! specially the GPS like TomTom, Garmin or Eghlim (it's a iranian program working for Iran only!)

pcarvalho, thanks to you and your great work for cooking such great ROM. really this is the best ROM ever for my Polaris :)

I no longer using WM 6.1 anymore ever since using your eXtreme WM6.5 :) especially this version which comes with the EzInput keyboard that is really nice! Hopefully it comes with other languages in future.

The speed of this ROM is fast, I don't use the Titanium, I'm using iPhone Today 1.0 now and the speed is just great!

i will test it out and report if any bugs found :cool:

There are already various working Manilla 3D QVGA ports. The problem is 3D drivers which don't want to enter sleep mode :)

the main problem for me was the interface response in system menu, that makes me feel lagy, compared to 3lit; the delay of the response is not big, but makes me doubt whether I have clicked what i wanted or not. Also the response from the clicking to icon and action itself seems to be slow.

Its hard to decribe, but overall it creates a strange honey feeling. Its maybe my individual problem.
No other problem detected, when I am in some application, no speed problem detected, only a menu of the phone as described.

Other think is, that I cannot find anything in that WM6.5 beehive inteface, but thats not problem of your rom :-)

well you can change the pressure responce of the screen via twicking some values in the registry. helped a lot here (especially with the new keyboard). i found the tweak in a post in the polaris section don't recall where exactly

Just a small update. Love the new QWERTY keyboard... makes texting without a dutch T9 language pack bearable :D

I'd like to configure the Titanium panel but I'm afraid that plugins will make titanium scrolling less fluently (as I've noticed before after installing several plugins). What software do you recommend to configure the Titanium panel (i.e. changing order, adding or deleting panels).

Besides that, should I avoid to install any plugins because they will slow down the sleak ROM I have now?

hi all. i have also flashed my polaris with the new rom. when i select EzInput keyboard and i launch i.go 8.3 my touch interface go crazy. for example when o try to go to an adress and go typing, even if i'm not it's typing continuously â character and when i try to del it won't work. after some time it goes back to main menu. works ok with keyboard.
maybe in the next rom we have the icons for heads and the blue light for bluetooth.
my radio version is 1.59.42.15.

I wrote about some problems yesterday. Well, the screen didn't split in half since then. Hope it had something to do with hard reset or initial setup of windows itself or something like that.

hi all. i have also flashed my polaris with the new rom. when i select EzInput keyboard and i launch i.go 8.3 my touch interface go crazy. for example when o try to go to an adress and go typing, even if i'm not it's typing continuously â character and when i try to del it won't work. after some time it goes back to main menu. works ok with keyboard.
maybe in the next rom we have the icons for heads and the blue light for bluetooth.
my radio version is 1.59.42.15.

no problems here with igo...dont know how you got that issue but its compatibility problem...eventually igo/htc will fix it...

this slow reaction that you all talk about can be various things...for starters...the kernel is still wm6.1 not pure wm6.5 kernel (only htc can give us that, lets hope they do)...then its wm6.5 that isn't out yet so its...how you call it...beta...so normal not being fast...but for me its faster then any wm6 or wm61 cause now i dont get the "oh my god! this is so ****ing slow drawing icons in programs folder that i just wanna cry" feeling :)
if you bench a 2D program you'll see wm6.1 is 2x faster...would you say it really is 2x slower...not! only time will make this faster/better...its beta! nothing else to point out...its the best of tommorow... today ;)

probably is m$ bug and has nothing to do with the rom but I thought you would like to know: After a hard reset I do not reinstall many of the programs living on the sd card. I simply copy a shortcut folder from the sd card to windows startmenu programs and I am up and running.

When I am in my shortcuts folder and I press and hold and the pop up "bring to top" appears, the result is that it is sent to top of the main programs tab as a copy of the shortcut in my folder which does not go to the top of my folder.

Here is the "fix":

In the registry:
[HKLM/Comm/ConnMgr/Planner/Settings]
CacheTime - Default is 60 - This is the timeout value for disconnect of GPRS
SuspendResume = "~GPRS!" - change to this value (means always on).

I changed the SuspendResume to "GPRS_bye_if_device_off" so it makes the end key disconnect gprs or turn it off once device goes into standby to save battery...

this rom doesn't hang...ndrive hangs cause it probably demands newer drivers, been trying to make it work myself...thats why 3D version it works...ezinput has all layouts and you cant change them via settings>system>touch input...

Use the advance config to make this changes and determine the amount of time you want the connection to be ON:- menu>more settings>connections.

I'm using TF2D too on pcarvalho's ROM 23009, but no such problem and in fact very smooth so far.

Try adding one city at a time and let it update weather after each city added. Alternatively, remove all cities and add it one by one.

ok something that is really annoying me over time. When you open an e-mail the softkey at the bottom left is always Reply All. Is there any chance to change it to Reply?! I've seen it on other devices. I sent 200 e-mails to wrong people every time because of that key :P

Just as bakaq told already add one city and then remove it and then add again. It should solve the problem.

I did it. Removed the first city and then added four cities with no problem. Everything works now.

Go to Settings-Today-Items and uncheck everything, then soft reset, after reset check TouchFlo. If it does not work then there is something wrong with your device. Also, don't install on SD card.

Concerning ROM there is minor bug - headphone icon is not displayed in taskbar when headphones are plugged in (it was also in previous ROMs)

I try hard reset, first install manila and it works...than i restore my backup with PPCPimBackub and manila start freezing. I made soft reseft and manila don´t even start..black screen again :(

Finally, its working... Its simple, after hard reset, i don´t restore deleted items in sms and its working...If a restore them manila crash, even file explorer starts freezing, maybe its ppcpimbackup or microsoft bug...

well, i think my polaris just went dead :(

pressed soft reset button and it didn't start...took out everything and it booted...made it reset again and did not start again...guess the soft reset button just died on me because of so many flashing and reseting, will not boot, even if i plug it to the power, light doesn't light up...**** happenz i guess...

gonna try to make it "wake it up" else its repair shop for about 3 weeks or so... if it does have to go to repair ill post my lastest rom with some new features already...

I did have quite a similar problem with my O2 Zinc when pressing the reset button and went silent. Maybe you try making a "bouncing press" with your stylus, which means you force the reset contactor rubber to spring back to it original position and not attaching to the interior contactor to simulate soft reset. Just sharing my previous experience and hoping it works for you as it did for me...:)

Sorry to hear this but in some ways if it doesnt boot for you then it wont boot for them as well. Then it wont matter what was on it as you/they will never see it again. Least what ive always been led to believe.

well i dont know...when it when cause of the touch screen not getting the "touch" they just repaired that and even made an upgrade to wm6.1...everything about the hardware was the same...so i guess they dont replace anything they dont need...

if its just a connector issue i guess it will be the same...when its fixed they will see its been improved and maybe will start to cry because its better then they ever did :p

i need at least to HR...and reflash the bootloader and original rom...else they will probably see everything ive done...and charge me for doing something they should have done in the first place...

Can´t you carefully open it and see what's wrong? I saw once a tutorial to open it... Hope you can fix it.

if he opens it he definitively loses garanty
when you press reset button can you feel a click ?
if yes it should be working properly, so you can try to hit gently vertically vs table in matter to unblock reset button
you can also remove battery, press reset, try hard reset
if leds are working then probably only screen is dead, but pc should recognize it
but to be realistic if there is no screen, no leds and pc don't detect then polaris is pretty much dead :(

not withstanding what whitealien said about dismantling and loosing warranty, I've always found http://www.pdacenter.ru/razborka/razbor_htc_touch_cruise/ useful when taking phone apart

had mixed success - fixed power button (re-soldered it), but had trouble replacing a screen

pcarvalho, it was not wm but palm but once I face a similar situation and was able to connect to pc with a usb/charger cable without battery. who knows...

i am thinking of another possibility: if it is only the screen you could load polaimg to an sd card and try to reinstall from there a safe rom. I always install from sd card and never had a problem. I only heard of problems when using encryption.

Use the advance config to make this changes and determine the amount of time you want the connection to be ON:- menu>more settings>connections.

well this is just weird...just took out the battery for some time and now it just booted...gonna try to restore all to original and see if it doesn't die on me...

Pc maybe you have a shortcut on soft reset button and ones you plug the usb conector something is lose it inside and make the short cut again. I thinks that´s why it turns off. I guess is a mather of a bad electrical connection in this area.Soft reset button is very close of USB conector.Anyway if you have something lose it inside device,it will make the shotcut again inside your ppc. Hopes that helps in something

well there is something very strange going on...if it doesn't boot and i remove battery for a long time and put it back in, it eventually boots...can a bad image not allow a device to boot? it should allow at least to go into bootloader mode...but it doesnt...so i think its a hardware problem somewhere...im gonna re-flash hardspl just to make sure that its okay...can that get corrupted? i dont think so :confused:

because it shutdowns after some time possibly there is some component that overheats so it triggers safemode and dont' let boot for some time or it can be also faulty flash memory so during boot it can't read all blocks so it shuts down, but then it won't explain why you can't boot after.

yeah, I think first case is most probable. Try to remove sim card and then boot.

Also did you try to boot without battery, just plugged with charger? It can be also faulty battery. For security reasons these days all cellphone batteries are so called smart batteries (monitored by small microprocessor inside of the battery) so maybe it won't let boot if it detects some anomaly in battery functionality.

have anyone had more issues with build 23009? i have a newer version prepared...the one before polaris toke some vacations...
it had icon corruption fixed and backlight issue repaired, plus an update in keyboard, and wifi, bluetooth and phone application, the startmenu also had a new drag n drop feature for the icons and in settings it didn't return to startmenu, but rather keep in same folder when finished running the setting you chosen...tomorrow i'll probably release it...gonna check if i can remove something i put in that didn't work and needs to be removed prior to release...tomorrow ill give you all an update...

hi all. i have also flashed my polaris with the new rom. when i select EzInput keyboard and i launch i.go 8.3 my touch interface go crazy. for example when o try to go to an adress and go typing, even if i'm not it's typing continuously â character and when i try to del it won't work. after some time it goes back to main menu. works ok with keyboard.
maybe in the next rom we have the icons for heads and the blue light for bluetooth.
my radio version is 1.59.42.15.

i tested igo today and i have the same. it types A in the address box and it beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeps. found any solution? it's something from the keyboard i guess

I have it too, but I am using ZoomBoard witch is more useful for me due its multilanguage support and switching with one key between languages and NO iGO 8.3 issue.

comparing with PDAVIET roms my device is not hanging but i don't like PDAVIET, could someone please help me to find what the problem is????:confused:

I wanted to waid for the LT version but could not resist and flashed the 23009 just to try the keyboard. Wonderful keyboard, though many of us will have to wait for other languagets support.

In previous roms I saw little difference between the LT and standard rom in terms of performance with few programs installed and the performange gap only opened when the machine was stuffed with lots of programs.

The 23009 version seemed to me slower (without installing any programs and just a couple of hours of use), at least compared with 21820 LT, so despite the wonderful keyboard I flashed back 21820 LT.

Note: As I told you before, I once had a problem with a palm and managed to make it work removing the battery once plugged to pc. In my case it was a software problem (ROM), and after re-flashing everything things came back to normality.

Shouldn't they make evaluation before doing any fixes on your phone? and if they decide it is not covered by guarantee tell you the price and ask you to fix it or not?

i dont think its possible...shell32.exe is one of the replaced and it is always in use...so no chance to make a simple cab work...

Why did not you include Opera 9.7 in your ROM? Its now working fine with ezInput 2.1. I'm currently using it and there is no issues.

it's quite stable. one huge bug on my device that sometimes it doesn't wrap text columns on pages. these times it's impossible to use, as it doesn't have the re-wrap when zooming function like 9.5 versions had.

non-english languages are not available yet for this ezinput version. you probably installed 1.5 language, which isn't compatible with this one.
