this is a fix release...sound issues should be gone...had to remove htc volume control is it still has issues...fixes minor gfx glitches...updated to lastest and probably final leak version of wm6.5.3 (29022)...will from now on work on unresolved issues and finalize rom...this will still take some time due to work...

updated physics engine and utask app by ultrashot...my thanks to him...

patched htc album to novsync, faster scrolling once cache is made...

removed no longer supported apps (my phone and marketplace)...if u need them install via cab...

Important Note:
if you have radio 1.65.xx.xx installed on your polaris, downgrade the radio 1st...
it will not allow you to flash any other ROM (i couldn't even flash official HTC ROM when i tried a ROM with that radio)

There seem to be HR and MC losing data issues with some roms, so i recommend flashing a htc original rom and only then this one, before proceeding as always make a backup of all data before attempting to use this rom...

This is released as "WORK IN PROGRESS" so you can if you want, post what works/what doesn't...
in time i'll correct bugs and release when it seems fit...meanwhile i'll actively answer all major questions, giving all support which is always nice to have...hope you all like it...

Rom Name: pcarvalho polaris eXtreme (Beta) R0
Radio included: no radio included but has to be 1.59 and above
OS: 5.2.21911 / 23569 / 28014 / 24001 / 29022 WWE (thanks to the people that make them available)
OEM Drivers: 3.19/1.60 (thanks to Cmonex and chavonbravo) or 3.19 untouched (htc)


NOTES:
You NEED HardSPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351964) installed before flashing any ROM...
Don't forget to make a backup of all data before trying it out...
1st boot takes long time to complete...
Hard Reset after 1st Boot (when it gets 2 calibration screen) to minimize problems, this is always a must as most problems are do to not doing so...
use compatible Radio depending on what version you download...
3G an H are disabled by default for max battery...
some programs have been tweaked, so if you feel they are slower or got bugs, please report them...
support will be provided, here in this thread ASAP...
the (Beta) is due to the fact that wm65 is not released yet...
Tested incoming /outgoing calls... but cannot speak or hear...plus camera all black...change the RADIO to supported one...
2G dialer is made for portrait only
iGO hangs...disable AGPS

small tweaks:
1. to make screen more touch sensitive when aligning screen, tap on the cross with the least pressure possible...

2. want to autolock device? goto start>settings>system>smart lock...

3. want to hide contacts from SIM card? then advanced config will be your friend...

Q: When will a new version be released?
A: when im done testing and i think its good for most people...

Q: Will other languages other than english (WWE) be made?
A: simple answer...no...maybe in 2010...

Q: Can you make a 3D/Lite/XYZ version? and when will it be out?
A: yes i can make it...as long as i have time, it will be out when downloads provide me with the info that people want more of it and i have time to make/test it...

Q: Can you make a build based on COM2/3/4/5/Z?
A: yes, i can...but ill be the judge of when and how ill make it...cooking takes a lot of time and whatever i release is always about quality...patience please...

Q: What is the diference between COM2/COM4/WMD/XYZ branch?
A: the most noticeble is until COM2 its old style (WM61) above COM3 its new style (WM65X with bottom buttons)...the rest, have no idea...

Q: Whats the difference between 3D and non3D version?
A: they differ in the drivers...as name says...one has opengl drivers and less 16Mb of ram because of them...the other has not and 16Mb more than 3D version of same rom...the rest is the same (programs/tweaks/customization)...and no you cant install P3D Drivers on non3D rom cause it will break compatibility...

Q: Is there any diference in speed between 3D and non3D version?
A: simple answer...yes, thanks to gfxboost that is included. but at a cost of 16Mb of RAM for DDI drivers...so that means programs (some) can be crashing because of lack of...opera/youtube are 2 of them...but i also wouldn't call non3D slow at least wm6.1 wise...you'll be the judge...

A: You have the wrong radio version installed...change it! radio 1.59.xx.xx and above should work...

Q: Can i run manila 2.1/2.5/2.6 on my polaris?
A: Yes you could if someone made the port (someone like me)...but...you will never see it running simply because there isnt enough RAM/ROM to handle it, there are no fully working opengl drivers...and like so...our polaris simply doesn't meet the minimum sys specs to be able to fully run manila 3D...even if someone wanted to make the port...id just say: just buy a HD2! its cheap compared with the all work you'll have ahead...

must be some wm6.5 compatability issue...i didn't change anything there...

Everything is working fine for me!

1 thing. the sound is different then other roms. when i play music it is a bit low.. not low volume but sounds very low, no high tones.

ive installed wow srs hd and now its fine.

good job! will keep this for a while!

I have downloaded TranMinhMan's latest. But it looks like there is no need to flash that and test after the tests done as above by you people. Thanks.;) Now using pcarvalho's 6.5 with radio 1.58.32.33. (quick GPS not working)

Well, in the morning I've tested TranMinhMan's ROM, now pcarvalho's ROM. I've been using Win 6.5 since the first ROM I found and I must say, I'm delight with the progress so far. In TranminhMan, with 3.13 drivers from the total of 84 MB, I think free was around 40-45.

@pcharvalho: great great job. I'm using Radio 1.65.xx.xx and everything works fine. Indeed, video is working on Album. The battery drain ain't big, so I guess you enabled some power savings in registry. I installed a battery metter and works great.

Some suggestions for the next ROM:
1. Include KeyLock.cab for those who want to enable hardware buttons when device is lock
2. Include DeviceLock1.2.cab. It creates a shortcut to Lock function and this shortcut can be mapped to a hardware button.
3. WM6.5 Titanium Weather tab would be a nice addition.
4. SyncroTime is always needed
5. PIM Backup is always needed
6. Toggle Wifi On/Off: AKToogleWiFi.cab (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2868203&postcount=1) It creates a shortcut in start menu to enable/disable WiFi with one click. By the way, what is the default wifi protocol enabled b ? g ?

This is the begining of a new era for Polaris. The device keeps getting smoother and smoother. I'm really glad that finally we have a cooker on xda for win 6.5 Polaris Roms. You have made my day pcharvalho. Looking forward for new releases. Thank you. Respect.

I've read on other forums one thing that I agree with: this build seems slower than previous ones, even slower than 21500. Less smooth, or slower in Titanium and/or Start Menu. I can feel it slower than than 21202. It seems that 21210 is the best at this point. Very interesting I've seen in development area a new panel for Titanium with favorite people to quick dial.
pcarvalho I'm really impressed of how fast you give feedback and you take time to answer everybody.

you can do 102MB RAM with 3.13 drivers with just a few changes.
PM me if you are interested. My beta ROMs run 3.13 OEM with 102MB RAM fine.

Hi 'alinescoo' did you check your task manager. I see numerous instances of 'device lock' running after installing and configuring this. See the attached image.. (This was there in 21198, 21202 builds as well)
Quick GPS runs at boot, needs to check the tweak said earlier in the thread by 'psx2pal' :)

Random question: I am used to the Automatic sound profile used in the HTC ROMs that sets the sound to vibrate during meetings. Is there anything like that for Windows Mobile 6.5? Also, is there any way to not have the lock screen dimmed when you turn the phone back on?

Camera also.Try radio 1.58xxxx.Then everything should be fine.
The best rom for me .Only the titanium is useless.Putting spb shell v3 (instead of titanium) brings amazing results.

well i dont think the 3d drivers influence as they are opengl and this is 2d...what might influence is the better 2d driver...i havent made a newer version with newer drivers cause they eat up 2 much ram...gonna check with Oli how he made it not get hungry as it is and try to build same with newer drivers...

dont think there is an automatic profile in wm6.5...but there must existe some kind of program that does that kind of work...search and install it...then tell us how it went ;)

Hey! I noticed that Wi-Fi in Comm Manager appears grayed and you can't toggle it as usual. You have to go to Settings->Wireless LAN and tap "Turn on Wireless LAN".

It's a bit annoying :S

FIXED!! It's really strange! I modified the Connections and Schedule options in ActiveSync and now it's enabled again!

this seem a good release but i have 2 big issues:

installing 3lite 3g videodialer it says unsuccesfull even if i have previously installed sdkcert...

and second i have radio 1.65.xx.xx everything is fine youtube camera opera etc

but i have the same sound problem, after a soft reset it works for a while, i can slide volumecontrol and ear the sound, i can call and recieve calls...but after that don't know why audio is completely gone, calls or system i can't ear nothing and also mic is dead.

djkoa's dialer works but has a bug...when is typed numbers with * first digit you will get on screen 2 numbers.
one solution is udk's touch dual dialpad + polaris video fix form 3lit3 tread.
it works ok but in landscape you don't have keypad

dont think there is an automatic profile in wm6.5...but there must existe some kind of program that does that kind of work...search and install it...then tell us how it went ;)

I'm trying out phoneAlarm as it seems to do the job. It actually distinguishes between "busy" and "free" appointments (something HTC's app should have done already). I haven't had a "busy" calendar appointment yet so I'll let you know how it works.

3g dialer modded not working i'll try the other (i'm sorry to leave that dialer because i made my own skin based on its files...)

anyway only one more problem left, maybe u can fix it, in usb2pc there no option to select disk drive, and goin to settings and manually select that option it returns that a memory card must be inserted...as it won't recognized the card (but with wm5torage no problem everything is fine...)

Not sure how to make it permanent as it resets every time you soft reset the device but the key is at HKCU\Control Panel\Backlight\LockLevel\LockLevel

I think that downgrading your radio to the version recomended by our cooked (1.58.xx.xx) will solve your issues.

It's not the FM radio. You need RADIO(it's not the same thing)..search the forum for 1.58.xx version and you will find it.

Great ROM, just flashed and no problems yet. Incoming and Outgoing calls work fine, will post any bugs I find here.

Does anyone know of any good speed dial apps or today screen enhancements? I was using the Syrius R2 ROM up until today (WM 6.1) and quite liked the contacts bit of the touchflow interface which gave you a grid of 9 contacts showing just pictures and then if you chose one gave the option to call, text etc.

If you use a good task manager like dotfred's task manager you'll see that the quickgps process (for some reason) is already running in the background - that's why it won't let you open it up. If you close the process down then go and tap on the QuickGPS icon then it will startup fine. Strange but true.....

please ignore this message, remembered shortly after posting. (Start/Settings/System/Device Information). Radio is 1.59.42.15 so will flash a 1.58 ROM later and see if that fixes it all.

Rookie question so apologies but have looked around on forums and so-on and can't find it. How do I check which radio version I have?

I'm getting the earlier mentioned bug where sound dies after first phone call (incoming or outgoing) and have to reset to get it back. Think this might be a radio issue so want to check.

Yes ...camera off...maybe and something else but it is not recomended.

no it is not...nor will it be...i dropped 3D 2 get more ram out of it...

next version will have support for newer radios but still no 3D drivers...

if lots of people request i might think of making a 3D driver compatible one but you will lose around 16MB of avaliable RAM...

You must use correct Radio version!!!!!!
There is no ROM problem with camera if you use correct Radio version

Just installed your rom on my Polaris and it works like a charm! First with my radio rom 1.58.26.20 there has been some lags on the home screen while scrolling and the camera didn't work.
Flashed now murata 1.58.25.14 and everything works GREAT! Sliding in home screen works fluently without any lags, camera works too.

I did some configs for myself and i think i won't change anything from now on :)

No it's not working . Unfortunately you must use wm5storage or Card export.

When first flashed i tried the new IE and it worked great i could watch youtube from browser and with that opera build i couldnt i tried to install flash 3 for opera it didnt help and i needed hebrew language it didnt worked with that build so i installed opera 15529 and flash 3 and installed hebrew lang now opera works good i can see youtube from browser but IE not working - like it doesnt render the site - probably cause of hebrew fonts... but as long opera works i dont care...

I have the same bug, even I'm using WWE. so it seems it's not language specific. Funny thing is, the bug appears only when scrolling downwards. When scrolling upwards, the letters and numbers are clear.

its not that bad, was pretty worse in early stages...plus you can make it like iphone (just the scrool is vertical :)), into a list, you can change its layout if you know how :)

basiclly they removed the honeycomb graphics and made the scrool be only by page and not by gesture...but they are still making tests...till 11 of may at least...

i now just want more speed ;)

to disable that diagonal effect just change:

HexagonGrid="TRUE" to HexagonGrid="FALSE"

in file StartMenu_GridScreen_240x320.cpr

its readable, just have to make it better looking...

would show some layouts possible but am currently putting into mine more than 8500 sms just 2 see how it handles :D

i dont use 3G videocalling so i dont know, maybe someone that installed can tell you one that works, or find 3G dialers 4 polaris, install them and see if they work...if dont, uninstall and test another...and so on...

i think i found the solution. the proble is with the dialer inxluded in the rom. if you xhange it, you will be able to gain control over the in call volume. i tested it with the 3g one you linked earlier.

When first flashed i tried the new IE and it worked great i could watch youtube from browser and with that opera build i couldnt i tried to install flash 3 for opera it didnt help and i needed hebrew language it didnt worked with that build so i installed opera 15529 and flash 3 and installed hebrew lang now opera works good i can see youtube from browser but IE not working - like it doesnt render the site - probably cause of hebrew fonts... but as long opera works i dont care...

one more thing. after in call volume control came back to my phone, i noticed that a well known wm6.1 bug came with it either: when i make or receive a phone call, the volume drops down to the minimum. so i recommend everyone to install poldo's volume patch which you can find somewhere around here at xda.

first of all, if you want to install pcarvalho's 6.5 rom, you'll need hard spl anyway. with hard spl loaded onto your phone, you'll be able to flash any roms, cooked and officials too, so if you just want to be sure that you will be able to go back to the o2 rom if you don't like wm6.5, this can't be a problem.

if you worry about the warrany, then i can assure you that you can always load the original spl back to your phone (just look for it here at xda), so this shouldn't stop you to try out something new. :)

to be honest, it's my first wm6.5 rom as i wasn't sure that previous builds were good enough for everyday use, and i'm very happy with it. it's more then what i expected: i'm using it for four days now, and didn't find any bug that would be unrepairable, and in terms of speed and stability it's just as good if not better as any cooked and refined 6.1 rom. by installing favepeople and weather panel the default windows home screen is just as usable as manila2d, and right now i like it much better than manila, because it's something new, feels like i got a new phone in my hands, and that feeling stops me from wanting something new like blackstone or diamond2, and at least in terms of my wallet it's a good thing. :D

And it works mostly good accept to bags
The fist is well known scrolling :)
And the second is the standard income ring window from standard dialer opens for a second before Phone Canvas dialer begins

When the LCD is completely off, have someone call you. The LCD lights up, the caller number is displayed, but not the name or the photo (assuming they are already in your contacts).

Do the same with the LCD already on (or locked and dimmed). The caller ID will work, and the name and photo come up on the screen....

I solved the quickgps problem by unchecking the 3 options in quickgps itself. Quickgps won't load automatically anymore after a reboot.
Not really a solution but more kind a workaround.

The problem i'm still having is that I'm unable to control the in call volume of the speaker. This is quiet annoying cause I'm often I a noisy environment and not able to turn the volume up :(

I guess you need to replace the suggested radio by the Murata Radio. It has a way better connection for me.. And camera works.. The only thing that didn't work was QuickGPS which i downloaded again and re-installed which made it work..

Yes you are right about the uninstall....but mine indicator is working fine with this dialer, and this dialer is the only(i think so) that works good with this rom if you want a video call.
Anyway you can install another dialer over the previous.Search the forum,you may find many dialers, or if you have time try a hard reset.

ok...with the advance config ,go to phone and set phone skin: disabled.....then reset the phone. Now you have your dialer back.

ill look into this...as i say on first page, this is a very clean rom and has almost nothing of the newest things...almost all is standard...

just installed this in the rom im cooking and no such error cause i have newer OEMs in it...its just a case of installing the right OEMs...

dont understand it, working okay here, and do not install S2U2 since WM6.5 has a built in S2U, S2A, therefore standard dialer is preferable.

whats known is:

21215 is built a week later the 21502;

21215 did not have SMS Sync and Touch Vibrations, 21502 has both of these;

21502 is a MS internal build, and 21215 is an HTC Build...

The DSM have had test Cert removed.

The Time Bomb Code is removed 100%, not just patched, but actually removed.

The signing of some of the .exe and .dll are different. stuff we have never seen before. being signed by "Windows CE Mobile prebuilt package contents"

PIE is improved to where when you double tab it does not go to the lower right hand corner like it use to.

Flashlite is newer in here, then in all previous builds.

Scrolling is sped up and everything else

touch.dll tweaks have been used, by myself, since they where discovered here ;)

it has standard tabs, people that want, can customize it to their liking...

i thinking on using iolite's version, haven't had any major problems (still no 3g dialers yet that i like, and modded one isn't working yet, sorry)...

plus added: m2d (will maybe remove it 2 get more space), advanced config, pimbackup, time sync, my phone, marketplace, visual gps, outlook live, taskmgr...

yes, i've tried them both...but how can i see if there are any real diferences? im gonna have to check with that team, i've been contacted by one asking me to build a rom for them but have yet not recieved a reply...

second my problem, inside the bt settings ther is only Devices,Mode,Com,Carkit,timeout, profiles and the last three are duplicated so now i have 6 of them.and ther is no file sharing settings ther so i cant enable OBEX.
if Its sth wrong i did plz tell me if not can i know the solution. if i need reflashing or sth

i can confirm the duplication of bt tab settings, OBEX settings can be fixed using Schap's Advanced Config.

gfxboost works but does nothing, opevg improves file explorer scrolling and picture viewer too.

i have this problem too,
i installed and change many things dont even remember all...
i installed hebrew support (RTL), replaced wince.nls, many registry changes...

bluetooth sending and receiving is going well - make sure that you have check 'receive all incoming beams' ticked on > settings >connections >beams

Many times this problem presents, if we don't make a hard reset after any rom upgrade.

missing icons look like resco registry icon or IM+ (last screen)...blured and pretty ugly :)
