No gps signal with tomtom 7

Has anyone encountered the same problem? when im using tomtom 7, no matter how long i wait, it just says waiting for a valid gps signal! is this problem common does anybody know how to solve it?

To make sure you properly get a GPS signal. First run Quick GPS.
Start > Programs > System Tool > QuickGPS
Hit download and when it’s done it ok.
make sure your outside for next part(phone lying on dash?)
Now run HTC GPS Tool
Start > Programs > System Tools > HTC GPS Tool
Click Open and then click function, mode,cold start then open port.
Click on the Satellite tab and wait till the bars turn green once this happens you will have a GPS fix.
Hit home (leave it running in background)
Now you can use tomtom.:)

Dazza cheers for pointing me in the right direction mate that htc gps tool is gr8 :D i deleted the sat data and soft booted now tomtom is workin gr8 :D
