V8 upload is complete and being downloaded all over the planet. :)

Yes, flash Stock ROM, SPL 3.34DaveShaw and Radio 1.7.X.X for best results.

When click on the people icon, it takes me to the call history instead of phone book. at the call history it's missing that icon that would take you directly to missed call, dailed and recieved.

This is my only reason I am going to shift back! Abu can go back to the old dailpad, or just add the old dailpad features, you know that would be great! I really like the background of this rom. I wished I could change that with the dot background and M2D! does anyone knows how to?

This is for everyone and i could use some input on it. I created a very simple program that can restore all of your Contact Ringtones that you set. The file is below. Basically all you need to do is have your ringtones set the first time and then click file save contacts. When you need to restore, make sure the ringtones are in the proper location then hit file restore contacts. This program works flawless for me and my buddies but i dont know how it will react to the masses here. Any input would be great guys also, where else should i release this on XDA.

hello everyone! i've been a long time user of SJ's HyperDragon series and more recently, a user of TPC's Elite series (v5.1, v6.1, and v7.0)...and X2.V8 is my first forray into abu's fine work!

i have always read a bit of abu's threads in the past 6 months but today i decided to give it a shot with the shiny new X2.V8! so far, it feels GREAT!!!

i am just setting it up now (i have flashed stock HTC ROM followed by Radio 1.70.18.02 followed by X2.V8)...still have quite a lot of settings to do before i am done!

so far, the new dialer seems to have nice big buttons but i miss the call history page of the opal and topaz dialers...i might install one of those dialers on top of this ROM if it starts to bother me too much.

secondly, i also miss the large title bar icons (when you tap the icons in the title bar, i like having the BIG ICONS show up so i can specifically choose which particular icon i want to tap). can anyone suggest a registry tweak and/or post a cab that is known to play well with abu's excellent ROM that will enable this feature?

i will post back with more feedback as i dive further into this ROM...so far, EXCELLENT WORK abu!!! keep it up!!! :D

thanks LordFuzzy024!!! i make it a point to RELIGIOUSLY read the thread of the ROM i am using (or intend to use). i've been trying to keep up with BOTH TPC's thread as well as this one...guess i missed the earlier post containing the large title bar cab. my bad! thanks once again!

with the above two cabs, i think X2.V8 will be a mainstay for me for the forseeable future and beyond!

on a side note, my installations and tweaks are done and my threaded smses are building as we speak! i'll be testing video playback performance (with coreplayer) over the next few minutes (after the threaded smses are built) and i'll be keeping a keen eye on battery performance over the next few days. the battery performance of the TPC ROMs i used was subpar and i sure hope X2.V8 fairs better!

i have set up everything i normally set up on any ROM i install...

and the experience has been THE BEST by FAR with X2.V8...not a single hang and no unexpected behavior! you rock abusalza!!!

the selection of pre-loaded applications is EXCELLENT. i only had to add on the following:
Freeware:
- Schap's rip of the HTC Network Plugin (highly recommend to include in ROM by default...TPC includes this)
- Remote Desktop for WM6.5 (highly recommend to include in ROM by default...TPC includes this)
- MBarvian's rip of the Opal Large Title Bar (i suppose it used to be included by abusalza but only he can tell us the reason behind removing it)
- gpslover's TaskFacade (highly recommend to include in ROM by default)
- Raiisak's WLAN Toggle (highly recommend to include in ROM by default)
- M2DC (highly recommend to include in ROM by default...TPC includes this)
- Remote Tracker

Paid Applications:
- WinMobile Torrent (for bragging purposes only)
- Coreplayer
- VM Network Browser
- Resco Explorer

this one is most certainly a keeper! only things to check over the next few days of use are the battery life and the new dialer.

after trying a lot of wm6.5 ROMs (all of which were very good ROMs by TPC), it is now time for me to finally update my signature... :D

The "Ok" issue was fixed in the last version by running the screen alignment app. I can't use that, so I'm kinda stuck with it, but 99% of users should be able to fix it easily. i guess i just need to come up with some more accurate screen alignment coordinates for my registry...

Sorry guys didn't mean to cause so many problems. I just got done fully configuring V8 or i'd go back and Flash V7 to take a screen shot. I feel like i've checked every options for it but i just dont see it. All it allows is for the Lock screen to be active when the phone wakes instead of me having to lock it by hand.

Does anyone know of these two (I found them on XDA somewhere) and will they work with the cooked in dialer? I like the dialer fine but do miss the quick redial. i've been using this rom for a little over a day now, and so far no problems at all, just one little annoyance. some times when i bring the phone back from stand by, i see that the messaging window is open, well not all the way, it just says messaging on the top left corner, and it has the messaging menu on the bottom right, and i can close it with the X on the top right, but don't see the messaging window, i only see the main desktop in the middle, anyway to stop this messaging window from opening on it's own?

Awesome, upgraded from V7 to V8 and notably most problems I had with V7 have been ironed out.:eek:
Only problem I've got is that I can't login to any Microsoft services like Windows Live, Messenger etc. While it worked with V7.. Is that depending on the rom or is it just me?

I'm glad to see it wasn't just me that ran into that. I normally flash the stock ROM, then the custom ROM then the radio I want to use. But for some reason I got out of sync with my routine last night (something to do with laughing too much) and tried to put the radio in before V8. Didn't work so good, reflashed the stock ROM and it worked. Might be a good idea to put a not about this in the WIKI or other reference page!

Although PIM backup says it restored my SMS messages my in box is empty. Call logs and contacts restored OK. I dont backup/restore mail, cause its always on my exchange server.
Also v8 seems to be a bit slow on responce. I did the factory Rom restore procedure.

I use hard SPL 3.29 and 1.70.xxx radio

Initial comments:
1. Autoinstall: I had about 10 .cabs in the folder, it installed the first and last, skipped everything in the middle.
2. The screen alignment issue still exists although it seems to be a little more accurate out of the box than previous versions.
3. Interestingly enough, I can call the dialer with the green button. It does nothing? Start>phone calls the dialer normally. Not sure if this is a local issue or global.
4. BT is working normally, haven't tested stereo yet.
5. Don't install a radio on top of a stock ROM, blows up the phone. :( Flash Stock ROM, Custom ROM, then Radio, works good.

I would love to test Titanium/M2D but until we have a panel that can check all the outlook folders for un-read mail, I am stuck in the old 'homeplug' days.

I will report more as I continue to test.

I'm still having a problem with the alignment of the fave people plugin. Its not completely to the left. Is there a fix for this? I attached a screenshot. Great ROM! Only other problems are that new Skyfire is not working again and RSS Hub images are not working, but everything else work great! Love the dialer!

So true. The one that drove me nuts was the Title Bar. I love the Opal Large Title bar i can't stand going back to the normal tap the icon on the bar. Crap clicked the wrong one stuff. You never know though. I'm sure the geniuses here can come up with something.

Quick general question. I'm using the radio 1.65.20.29 and havn't had any problems what so ever. Last night when i went to bed my phone at 100% battery (just undocked it from flashing and what not) when i woke up (9 hours later) i had 89%. Now that being said i left Bluetooth ON and had my email checking every 5 minutes. To me thats better than its ever been. What are some of your guys experiences with the 1.71.xx radios. I'd upgrade if my battery life would increase.

Morning Abusalza. The Ghost window he is talking about is that for some reason every now and then when you bring the phone back from sleep that there will be the top and bottom bars from the messaging widow on the today screen. It also Happens when you have email set to auto update and there is no email to download. The two bars will show up and only go away if you push the X button. I have seen this in every 6.5 rom I have tried. It even made me go get Flexmail.

i believe mine didn't work because of one program called screen capture, before it installs it brings up a disclaimer asking you to agree or disagree, i think that causes the whole process to stop!

Still very happy with V7 (since I don't use bluetooth there is no real deal breaker bug in it). Just curious whether the bugs from V7 got addressed in V8 or whether I should just skip it and wait for V9?


(V7?) bugs:
1. scroll bar (on the right) in messages sometimes hides/is over words/letters on the far right (this happens in every other email for me) (posted screenshots twice a while back but no reply)
2. bottom status bar sometimes hides/is over the lowest item in file explorer (as if you weren't scrolled down all the way but you are)
3. The zoom in IE is set to levels that are not meant for the Tilt (totally zoomed out is actually 100% ... zooming in goes to 800% or something like it)
4. The microphone seems to be set to a really low level (people complain that I sound very, very far away/volume is really low) - this also applies to voice command where I basically need to scream to get it to work
5. phone volume level - the volume on the Dutty rom I had before was much louder: 100% volume on this ROM equates to maybe 60% volume on the previous ROM. I am often in noise environments, so need a louder volume.

Improvements?
- change the default sounds for alarm, add vibrate and make the sound repeat
- I also prefer the sound notifications from Dutty's WM6.1 for new emails and calendar reminders.
- add MS voice command

From what i can see its better to load a stock Rom before every 6.5 ROM and i do 2 Hard Resets with the Stock ROM then 2 Hard Resets with the 6.5 ROM i am using and i have Never had any problems with the Phone since i have been flashing my last 20 6.5 Roms thats just me :)

all you need to do mate is if you have ATAT use ATAT if you have TYTN II then use TYTN II see what i mean get the ROM from

Maybe this is an answer to one of my earlier questions..

After installing the X2 V8 I do not get the option to setup my screen etc (first setup).. so I do not know when to hard reset.. (o I feel like a noob)
Anyway, I just did a hard reset and my tytnII turned off but not on again.
So just manually turned it on and it started to install again.

In the end everything looks okay, but I just want to know: If there are no errors everything should work okay right? Or did I plant a time bomb? ;)

you must have att tilt, this has been mentioned before, search for tilt keyboard fix cab file.

Still very happy with V7 (since I don't use bluetooth there is no real deal breaker bug in it). Just curious whether the bugs from V7 got addressed in V8 or whether I should just skip it and wait for V9?


(V7?) bugs:
1. scroll bar (on the right) in messages sometimes hides/is over words/letters on the far right (this happens in every other email for me) (posted screenshots twice a while back but no reply)
2. bottom status bar sometimes hides/is over the lowest item in file explorer (as if you weren't scrolled down all the way but you are)
3. The zoom in IE is set to levels that are not meant for the Tilt (totally zoomed out is actually 100% ... zooming in goes to 800% or something like it)
4. The microphone seems to be set to a really low level (people complain that I sound very, very far away/volume is really low) - this also applies to voice command where I basically need to scream to get it to work
5. phone volume level - the volume on the Dutty rom I had before was much louder: 100% volume on this ROM equates to maybe 60% volume on the previous ROM. I am often in noise environments, so need a louder volume.

Improvements?
- change the default sounds for alarm, add vibrate and make the sound repeat
- I also prefer the sound notifications from Dutty's WM6.1 for new emails and calendar reminders.
- add MS voice command
- CHOME should display the actual appointment/meeting in you calendar instead of displaying the word "Calendar".

Question:
- is there a way to change the quick launch programs? how/where?

BTW, The zip files you posted for the start menu worked! You only need to unzip one of them (I chose the large icon one). I modified one of the files so that I have 4 icons in landscape mode. Screen shots are attached.

BTW, I used the big icons files. If you are using the small icons edit the StartMenu_GridScene_320x240.cpr file in your Windows directory on your phone (use Total Commander). Find the value that starts with "Columns=" and change it from 3 to 4.

General question:
Several of the custom .cabs I load have an associated sdkcerts.cab. I understand why and what sdkcerts.cab is but the my question is. Are all the skdcerts.cab files the same? For example, if I load sdkcerts.cab with Square Service Icons.cab to I need to load sdkcerts.cab for Round_Color_Bluetooth_Icons.cab?

I suspect that one skdcerts.cab is the same as any other from the same sdk set, but wanted to make sure.

I love the attached one. However, I have not been able to turn off the suggestion to save to contact list for all and every calls even though the numbers are in the contact list already. This seem a thing to be changed with the ROM (for coming v9).

Possible bug, anyone else had this?

I have just installed the V8 of this ROM and everything seems to be working well and I am very impressed.
However I have had reports that when I am sending text messages I am sending multiple copies. I did some testing between my phone and my works phone and sent three text messages without duplicates so I thought it must be a network issue, then I went back into my messages about 5 minutes later and opened a threaded message conversation I was having with someone and instantly I received the last message I had sent to my works phone again.

I have done a search on the thread for text messages and two or multiple but found nothing so apologies if it has been discussed before.

Any ideas?

The alarm works fine for me. Just a minor issue is that when I select a sound, it does not play so that I can preview how the sound works. And when I select repeat sound, the interval between repeats seems longer than before.

When i did this on a fresh v8 install it didn't work. It said it restored my messages but the inbox was empty. The backup came from v7.

I had no problem with this. My sms and emails were both restored successfully. I always use the PIM backup program built-in with all Ultimate ROMs.

Same here. But i have been very impressed with google sync. Works like a charm and very fast :)

I dont know if I posted this earlier, but on v7 and v8 of your rom I was having an issue with saving images from the camera. So i ended up clearing out the old photos that did show up(previously existing on the SD card). Then i soft reset and took pics and now everything shows up in the folder!!

As for the rom, it is sooo fast and you always know what tweaks and programs to put in. I have long forgotten the days of touch Flo.

Here are my suggestions for the next build: integrate ThumbCal or a finger friendly calendar into the mix :)

The numbers dont match up using the fn key. ie-- fn y does not equal 1 but fn q does. Its as if the keyboard layout is that of an actual full size keyboard for a computer. Does anyone else have this issue? and if so how do you fix it?

Just saw that V8 was posted. Have it downloaded, but have to wait, as i used v7 with SPL 3.29 and Radio 1.70.18.02 most of Friday afternoon, and my battery tanked.

Has anyone else encountered battery issues with this SPL & Radio? If you have, have they been corrected with the flash of V8?

6. Opera is horrible and keeps CRASHING! Surf for 5 minutes => device soft resets.
7. On the home screen (with CHome) there sometimes is a weird overlay going on as if multiple tiles are on top of each other - scrolling through the whole list resolves it but it is very annoying (will post screenshots tonight)

Improvements?
