This may have nothing to do with the rom but my tilt has stopped syncing to my computers after i flashed ver 6. worked for a day then quit. any ideas? The Phone knows its trying to sync but it wont connect on the computer.

I would first try rebooting the PC then try to connect, and if that doesn't work then reinstall ActiveSync on the PC.

Just in case you are not sure of reinstalling process it would be uninstall / reboot PC and then reinstall

Have done the uninstall process and reinstall but for some reason it still doesn't see it. I have even tried multiple computers.

I guess the only other option left would be to reflash, hope you have not develope a hardware problem as no ammout of reflashing can solve that,

Somehow the notifications/reminders are not working on V7.
In the past I used to get notifications for the items on my calendar. I use google calendar and google sync to port everything to my phone. The sync part works fine and I am able to see new changes, but I dont get any audio or popup notification on the screen.

Minor point: I use the phone as an alarm to wake me.
The current alarm settings are very low (no sound repeat, no vibrate and a puny alarm sound).
Before I had a Dutty Rom whose alarm could raise the dead.

Might be nice if the default settings were for an alarm with a little more punch.


ALSO: Is there any way to totally disable the on-screen keyboards? They come up by default in some programs and they are annoying as ...

You can flash with SD card or if your Phone is conneceted to the PC (even if its not synching) than there should be no problem flashing with USB, and if I had to reflash I would follow the whole process that I explained earlier as these cooked ROMs are very picky about flashing process, one wrong move small or big boom problem, but once you get the whole thing right they are so sweet man and stable :D

Thanks, I have only flashed about 7 or 8 times still new at it. Wasn't sure if i could flash from sd card, that will help, i'll try that

For the bluetooth notifications....try this cab.

It adds bluetooth to the sounds and notifications configuration and disables it.

It's working perfectly fine on my phone, thanks a lot :)

I turned bluetooth off, soft reset, then turned bluetooth back on. This cleared the the non-dismissible notification. I then loaded the CAB and soft rest again. After going to lunch, I got the non-dismissible bluetooth message again.

when hitting the icons on the bar(connection, battery, reception, missed calls, etc...) was it removed in v7 that it would bring you to a screen with bigger icons so you can easily pick which icon you chose to touch?

when choosing to open calendar in another view, does it still open in day?

does the life in the battery go from left(remaining power) to right(lost power) instead of right to left?

when missing a text msg while phone is on hold, does the little icon to open the keyboard on the bottom mid screen block you from unholding your phone?

these are just some minors issue ive come across v7.

First off, I'd really like to have the action screen or whatever back for interaction with the title bar. I liked that a lot in previous versions.

Second, yes, i set my calendar to open in month view, but when i open calendar the first thing I see is month view, but it immediately switches to agenda view.

Not sure about the battery or text notification right now.

I think most of it is flashing from SD. Seems to be much better at clearing the mem. But a few others have also said the stripped version didnt work for them. So far its been great for me but i only flash from SD. So i guess let us know how it goes lol. Like you said if it doesnt work grab a full one...

For the alarm I use gAlarm, which has repeat, vibration, mp3 playback, multiple alarm profiles etc. options. I think the newest version is paid but the older ones are free.

For keyboard, which also annoys me, go to Start-Settings-System-Advanced Config-Input-Auto Deploy SIP, and disable it. Soft reset. Now soft-keyboard won't pop-up unless you click on it.

Yea try 1.70.19.09 like mentioned above. I had the same problems using 1.71.09.01 on this rom, battery would drain fast. 30min call and battery went from 100 down to 49 percent.
I'm also using this rom a Tilt

same here... i put the stylus in the hole o just push the soft button and pum: hard resets like crazy!. Enough, im going back to V6 and wait V8.

Alright - well a record 3 hours before complete lockup. Had to pin-hole it to get it to respond and voila.. back to clean rom? Nope.. now its just a grey screen with no signal showing on the icons... hmmm...

SD card was a little easier to flash... now where's that 6.1 full att rom at? off to the wiki.

BUT - Abu, great looking rom, great layout and usability.. that's why i'm trying so hard to make this work for me.. keep up the good work.

I dunno. Its a strange issue. I have been using it since monday morning. Have tons of apps installed. I dont ever use clean ram because i softreset all the time..Old habbit.

Go to the start of this thread and will see Abu's posting with the text below. There are some links many of you should follow to solve your problems.

a) You MUST flask a STOCK ROM first.
b) You MUST have SPL 3.34
c) You MUST have RADIO 1.70.19.09

I had similar problems to a lot of you and doing a,b, and c cured all my problems with V7

Try it. It works !

i also have been having poor battery life problems. using R 1.71.09.01. will try 1.70.19.09 and see how that does

ADD: i have put videos on my phone and the sound plays fine but the video lags really bad on WMP. does anyone else have this problem?

Ok....using V7 and the last couple of days everytime i hard reset my phone it reinstalls V7...so I loose all my setting....this i can handle.......now today my phone froze and i took out the battery and switched on my phone .....now im stuck on the loading boot rom screen and it wont do anything after that.

running X7 and still find it a bit rough on the edge compared to a great X6.
As I am departure on Friday night to 3 weeks vacation with no PC access and full reliablity on PDA ... I need to make a choice:

- stay with X7 and hope for the best
- go back to X6 and reinstall everything
- wait for X8 as the bugs look to be fixed

Therefore (and no pressure to Abu, just for my information) any expected arrival time for X8? Will it be this week or should I better not wait / count on it and consider my first 2 options ?

ABU, I installed ROM X2.V7 with SPL3.34. In each SOFT RESET, return to place "The first run" and erase all memory of the base. My problem is that now is STOP in the orange screen of Windows and does not allow to change for new ROM. What steps can I continue to force loading a new ROM and out of this situation?. How do the loading from SD card, because the forums are not clearly. :(

I was chatting thru IM using the hard keyboard, HTC TILT'S KEYBOARD's "Q" and "W", has their own upper symbol (is that how you say it?) Its "!" and "@".

But when I try to press "!", it comes out as "@", same thing as "@", it comes out as "!"

Theres more..

When I press " : ", it comes out as " % ".
When I press " = ", it comes out as " : ".
When I press " * ", it comes out as " # ".
When I press " ; ", it come out as " " ".
When I press" # ", it comes out as " * ".
When I press" " ", it comes out as " & ".
When I press " $ ", it doesn't come out.

ok....using v7 and the last couple of days everytime i hard reset my phone it reinstalls v7...so i loose all my setting....this i can handle.......now today my phone froze and i took out the battery and switched on my phone .....now im stuck on the loading boot rom screen and it wont do anything after that.

How can i fix this.....

Great ROM - I've been using V7 since yesterday, and don't see any major bugs that hamper my use of my Tilt. The normal quirks or development bugs that seem to be expected, but are not a large annoyance, such as the bluetooth notification after turning off BT. Other than that, nothing that has caused me to soft reset or any lock-ups of any kind.

Can't STRESS enough what others have preached about the flash process. Hard reset existing rom, flash OEM rom (I use ATT 6.1 rom), hard reset, flash cooked rom, hard reset, flash radio, and away I go. I flash all from SD card as well - which seems to be the cleanest, as well as the fastest. If I don't follow those steps, I will likely see issues. These should be religious steps for any flasher. Even the slightest deviation from above (such as missing a hard reset in the process) has proven to cause issues for me.

I've found that the 1.70.18.02 (w/ spl 3.34) radio has been the best radio for my Tilt in the past month with the newer cooked roms. I had used the 19.09 and 09.01 for the longest time, but have seen nothing but positive results using 18.02.

I don't use MD2 right now, so not sure if people are seeing more issues in compared to when using the CHome. Looking forward to V8 though! Thx!

I see people having issues and others posting their process and what should be done. It looks like some do and some don't have these issues. So, if my specs/stats help someone solve their issues, cool, otherwise ignore.

I'm using SPL 3.29 (OLD) and radio 1.65.24.36 on HTC TYTN 2 (South Africa)

I copy the KAISIMG.NBH to the SD card. Hit Camera and RESET. Hit power to start. Soft reset once complete. OS boots. Runs the autoconfig + Connection Setup. Automatically reboots. I then run SASHIMI to install all my apps, copy files for my Garmin XT, reg settings to configure Wireless and my Exchange setup, etc. Auto reboots again...

Then i'm ready to play....

I DO NOT hard reset at the beginning... I DO NOT flash Standard Rom and i DO NOT hard reset after the flash. And i never have any issues that people are having... I've gone through like the last 5 PDA Corner X2 releases. In fact, i don't even LOOK at the other ROMS anymore... Abu's ROMS are the best!

Just my experiences.... So if my combination of SPL, Radio, hardware, process etc, helps someone else solve their issues... ;)

My issues are probably simple but I haven't found the solutions yet,

1) "You got new Email" notifications are still crazy, how can I turn this off? Because it's saying it every time push email come in, even if I haven't dismissed the previous notification? (this is an Exchange Account)

2) Also Suggested words seams to be on but it's not working? (I'm a horrible speller.. )

If it was me i would have V6 and V7 on an SD Card and whilst i was away i would find a free wifi point download V8 and one day when i was sunning it on the beach flash V8 and have a play if you don't like it make sure you have backed with SPB Backup and it takes no time to restore thats just me :)

I think once you find whats good for your device then that is it, Its good for your device and may not work on another device i swear by flashing a stock doing 2 hard resets flash X2-V? do 2 hard resets and i have never had any probs but reading other posts some say they use a stripped ROM some say stripped ROM is no good like you don't flash stock don't do a hard reset and its ok for you, i do not think that its ABS Roms that cause the problem more of what you do before you flash his ROM i would recommend to try everything u can until you find whats good for your device.I may be wrong what do i know:)

just my & individual 2 cents on the theme .. I always go for max contrast and readability in sunlight .. pure black with no fancy graphics rocks as basic setting .. as art is always a personal taste people with more creative desires can add a more graphic design .. but keep it simple and clean when producitivity and usability is your goal ...

and this is why we spend some much money on our PDAs or .. they are not just toys :-)

So its been 12 hours so far on v7 without a lockup/hard reset issue. Not letting down my guard yet, but i think flashing a FULL HTC/ATT OEM 6.1 Rom might have done the trick.

Stripped ATT rom did nothing for me - so if this thing lasts for another few days.. then i'll call my experiment and let you guys know.

I agree completely freecall. I start playing with all the cool themes and neat colorfull designs, and find out that they just don't play well with the productivity side. No one but myself see's my phone, so theme's aren't on top of list. I'm more into features, cooked in apps, and functionality. V7 has that for me! Seems many with issues running V7, I certainly haven't seen anything major at all (other than the ones Windows Mobile has always brought on it's own by nature :D ). Hard reset, Loaded stock ATT 6.1, Hard reset, Loaded V7, Hard reset (everything via SD Card flashing), installed 1.70.18.02, and been flying straight on hard use for nearly 24 hrs. The 18.02 seems to be the best around with 3.34 - battery life is outstandingly better than the 1.70.19.09 or 09.01.

Excited for V8, nonetheless! :)

Yep - at least with SD, there's never a regard for battery level - at least from what I know, and have experienced. I'm usually pretty charged regardless, but has been a few times I was below 50%.

With the newer 6.5 roms, the 3.34 has made a difference, and the 18.02 radio as well.

Hmm...hadn't tried (or heard) of Autoinstall. Being doing old-school using SASHIMI for the longest time.

Lately, such as in V7, the roms have been coming packed with most everything i need (and have time :D) to use. So don't use full auto SASHIMI install many cabs much anymore, but is great still for some XML provisions for several email accounts i have to set up, and some reg imports.

Just a note regarding batteries. I tried to change roms when my batteries were below 50% and the process 'automatically' stopped.

From that experience I always try to have batteries above 50%.:p

Just some feedback with V7 and T-Mobile US. System is constantly losing the proxy settings and hence failing. Seems to be primarily with Internet email.

To say I am neophyte to flashing ROMs is an understatement.
I was able to navigate through the XDA Wikis and forums to get my AT&T Tilt unlocked and patched with a new ROM on Monday. I chose the X2.V7 as my first try.
I am using the HardSPL 3.56 as those were the general recommendations on the Wiki to unlock the phone since I was running AT&T's 6.1 ROM release before which had the SPL of 3.56 (I am 99% sure it did anyway).

I noticed some issues I noticed with the phone since the ROM upgrade that I thought I would note here:
#1. The phone in landscape mode shows a black screen on an incoming call (this was reported already in this thread).
#2. I have noticed incoming calls never seem to register, and then I notice a VM later (this also has been reported in this thread).
#3. When I press my camera button, the camera app launches but the background screen image of what the camera normally sees remains black. This was working fine under the stock 6.1 image a few days ago, so I know it's not my camera hardware.
#4. I can place or receive a single call on my phone, then all subsequent calls show connected but I never hear anything. When I manually notice an incoming call at this point (because as I noticed in #2 I don't hear a ringer), I can answer the call but again when it says connected I hear nothing. The only way I found to solve this issue is to power cycle the phone (I guess this is a soft reboot).

The details on my phone are as follows:
Radio 1.70.OliNex
Protocol: 25.65.30.04H
ROM: 3.Abusalaza
KAIS1*0
SPL-3.56.Hard
CPLD-8
I don't know if all of that is relevant or not, but I tried to give as much information as I could. I also only installed the Tilt keyboard CAB fix and the NeoS2007 OpenVG Drivers.cab file, but I remember having the calling issues before the OpenVG Drivers installed.

I believe I am using a recommended Radio. I know I am not using the 3.34SPL that someone recommended but I was unsure as to the effects of "downgrading" versions or why and older one would work better. I think I read somewhere that this might be a fix to the camera and phone issues I am seeing, but am looking for confirmation before I mess with the SPL again (I am nervous about changing core system things like that as again I am neophyte).

So I am off to try another ROM as I need my phone to work past one call, but I will be checking back to see if these issues are resolved as I really liked the ROM.

Yeah thats the ver i have. Tcp 250555 sems to be the best. Any higher it slowed down on the speed test. Might be able to go a little higher but after about 15 reset searching for the magic number i gave up lol.

I must say I've not had hard resets on V7 and it's been the best 6.5 so far for me, my main reason - the lock screen :-) slider is moved to the bottom!

I'd love some way to customise the lock screen, but I guess that's ms not including something built in.

video playback is a little choppy and if I'm in email writing landscape and open contacts it reverts to portrait , a quick close and open of the keyboard again solves that :-)

Still missing a decent day view in CHome, M2D is quite nice - not used it before but can anyone tell me if spb mobile shell works on 6.5 as I think that's going to be what I end up with.

Great ROM Abu! I do have two problems that I definitely need help with. The major problem I have is with the dialer. It doesn't work in landscape mode at all (I also get a blank screen on incoming calls). This is a major problem because I use landscape mode a lot. Is there another dialer that will work with landscape mode? My second problem is minor. The "Fave People" plugin is either missing an icon on the left hand side (when it is not selected) or there is empty space to the left of the text. Either way the text looks off compared to the other plugins.

Will someone please help with the dialer issue? I noticed that another person is having the same issue but no one has posted a reply/fix.

I read somewhere else that the phone not working right after one call is most likely the radio, so I am going to try that next. I am waiting for the battery to recharge (after 2+ hours of being plugged into my USB) since its slow going for some reason and the battery drained like 800% faster than normal (I normally got ~2 days out of a battery with the AT&T shipped 6.1 ROM, and this one drained in like 4-6 hours).:eek:

So I will give the radio you mentioned a try to see if that helps.

Thought I would re-post the bugs (and solutions) I have experienced:

Fixed:
1. close/ok does not work in landscape - simply run screen alignment.

Remaining bugs:
1. scroll bar (on the right) in messages sometimes hides/is over words/letters on the far right (this happens in every other email for me)
2. bottom status bar sometimes hides/is over the lowest item in file explorer (as if you weren't scrolled down all the way but you are)
3. The zoom in IE is set to levels that are not meant for the Tilt (totally zoomed out is actually 100% ... zooming in goes to 800% or something like it)

Improvements?
- change the default sounds for alarm, add vibrate and make the sound repeat
- I also prefer the sound notifications from Dutty's WM6.1 for new emails and calendar reminders.

You can change spl without it messing up the rom...however. It does seem to work better if you reflash the rom after changing the SPL. And the higher number doesnt mean newer as 3.34 is the newest one :D

I also tested all the SPLs and 3.34 seemed to work the best. 3.29 also worked ok but didnt seem as fast or smooth. Not sure what all is really different with the other models though since i have a tilt. So feel free to change things up. It was just to try and get everyone on the same page. But it seems we all have different books :D

I've seen a lot of argument here about newbies asking for fixes that have already been addressed. My take on this: Quit arguing with them and just post a link to the fix! Its not like XDA-Developers forum is the easiest thing to navigate through, even with the built in search engine. There are people out there with actual problems that don't get addressed because of the bickering. I'm still waiting for an answer as to why the dialer doesn't work in landscape mode. No one has posted a fix to that yet. Too many people seem to be wasting their time complaining about others who did not see the info about the hard resets (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=507281) (post #2, question and answer #1) or the Tilt keyboard fix (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334911). Just take it with a grain of salt and point them to the fix so we can concentrate on real problems to help Reza make a better ROM.

I noticed the same thing in the last version.

I've noticed a few things about this version so far:

1. As someone just mentioned, the "Ok" button in the upper right corner does not work in landscape, at least in messaging.

2. All the start menu icons in the root are in alphabetical order, as are the "Settings" menus. The other menus in the start menu, however, are not in a logical order. I've noticed this in the Games, Connections, Accessories, Tools, Multimedia, and Navigation menus. If you rearrange these in alphabetical order in the next version, the menus will be much easier to navigate.

3. The soft key 'labels" on the CHome menu don't seem to change as I scroll through the menus. However, I just doule checked this to confirm, and upon using the right soft key with the "Settings" window selected (taking me into contacts), once i closed "Contacts," the labels seemed to be fixed.

Other than, that, Reza, the ROM is performing wonderfully. I like this version a lot, and I'm enjoying your new hexagonal icons and four column start menu. i'll report any other bugs I find. Keep up the GREAT work!

4. Bluetooth notification.

I think that's pretty much it. Anyone else got something to add?

Hi everyone. This morning I've got a hard reset for the first time after doing a soft reset. My Phone is a HTC TyTn II, not a Tilt so I guess this is the first for a unbranded version to hard reset.

What exactly happened is, I've left the phone on charging overnight, unplugged it when I woke up, and just did a soft reset with the reset hole on the bottom of the phone just like I do every morning, and it hard reset. This is the first time for me to see a hard-soft reset.

there is a button to hide this message but it still appear in the task bar just near the bluetooth symbol as if someone call me or as if i've got a message.

I've had it happen but not to a bluetooth notification but just a general email/new message one. Not all the time but the past 3 days. This also happened with V6 (before The Hard Reset Issue) and now on V7 as well.

bluetooth notification on carkit mode wont disabled. i don't have bt headset so i would asked tpc for help me. i guess it was regarding dialer issue, try disabling phone canvas if it help. my thankfull for him as always (on studying)

Hi abu. Thank you so much for hear us. Dont forgot the icons apps issues: when i had the v7 (now v6), after a soft reset i couldnt see the apps icons in star menu (even you rom's folders): is it a memory or ram issue?. when i touched the invisible space the app start (mean the app was still there, just the icon missing). I did 2 o 3 hard reset (dunno remember now) to see the icons fine.

I guess I'm only cluttering the forum's by responding to this. By posts, i'm a newbie, by flashing experience I'd say I'm above average to expert - I've flashed so many roms in the last year...I...I...think I'm nutz!

Bob_Beard, I totally agree with you. I think that would be a good one for the FAQ on first page - the Keyboard issue. It's probably to most common asked one there is on any forum, which if people just took 5 seconds and searched just Google, the answer is there instantly. MSKIP has allways kept a good newbie guide as well. I'm all for helping, but things like that are issues that exist regardless of what rom you flash the Kaiser with. It's the first CAB fix I run after every flash! :D

For fixes that occur during a build or other odd things, I'm all for not bellowing at a newbie for a question that might have been answered 1 or more times. But for things that have existed since the first cooked rom for the Kaiser, I say teach them to search - it's how I learned! I never wanted to get scolded, but as a Sr. Techie, it's second nature to search first, search again, search some more, then give up and ask! :D

well smoke, normally I would take that challenge by my former toy Tilt is now my work phone so I can only flash now and then. There is no fix for the landscaping bug:( Oh well. I turned off the dialer skin (as directed). Now I'm using the default AT&T dialer (yuck!). However, I can't view the recent calls on the main dialer. Text seems to be white against a white background. Might as well be invisible. Is there a way to change the text color in the dialer? I'm willing to edit files or the registry. I've also seen this problem on some of the other dialers I've tried. Maybe a WinMo 6.5 bug?

Dont forgot the icons apps issues: when i had the v7 (now v6), after a soft reset i couldnt see the apps icons in star menu (even you rom's folders): is it a memory or ram issue?. when i touched the invisible space the app start (mean the app was still there, just the icon missing). I did 2 o 3 hard reset (dunno remember now) to see the icons fine.

I have not seen anyone else discuss this, but I am having issues with the PDA going to sleep withing 10 seconds. I have it set for backlight 30 and 2min to sleep. It is a real pain when trying to play music. BTW - I am back a verson V6...

Your camera files are getting stored on the storage card in the "DCIM" directory according to the current standard for how digital cameras store files.

That is awsome. I had two buddies that want to flash their phone and i told them the same thing. One jumped right in and is now Cooking his own ROMs, the other one is still using the stock ROM. Some people want it done for them others want to learn. There is plenty of info on this site to do anything you want to your phone. It just takes time. Thats my favorite part of this hobby. Reading all the crazy stuff people do. I love this site. Keep up the great work guys.

Only problem is when i install it i lose some of the links. (Sounds and notifications, Home Settings, and a few others.) I am able to fix some of them by editing the start menu folder in \windows\startmenu\programs but i dont have access to the settings folder. It is an empty folder. Can someone tell me where that folder or registry entry is so i can get back to using QuickMenu? Thanks.

Well - i guess i can call the experiment.

If you have trouble with the v7 rom on a tilt, flash a FULL UNADULTERATED VERSION of a ATT/HTC Stock Rom.

the stripped rom 'short-cut' didn't work for me. In fact it caused me 3 days of grief.

After flashing the full stock rom and going through all the necessary outlined steps, Abu's rom is working great for me.

Thanks for the input. I checked it out but im more interested in the quickness of it. With Quickment i can access so much more without having to open another program (bluetooth, wifi, ect.) And i really like the flyout menus.

About one hour ago I turned it off, and now that I try to turn it on nothing happen, it's stuck on this screen.... I can't even hard-reset...

Does anyone have a good solution for automatically locking the phone each time the phone is turned off, without setting a password?

I've tried all of the solutions in This Thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=499382), but they all feel more like hacks and each has its negatives (such as having to hit the power button twice, or unlock twice).

One suggestion was this:

HKCU\ControlPanel\BackLight\AutoDeviceLockEnable-----------> set to 1.

But that key doesn't exist in these roms, and adding the key and rebooting doesn't change anything.

My current solution is using S2U2 (slide to unlock 2) which is a great program, but it's pretty big and does far more than I need it to do. On the plus side fo S2U2, it shows battery, time, appointments, missed calls, voicemail, and weather all on the first screen which the internal lock doesn't do.

You should be able to hard reset. If not try and load into the boot loader and see if that helps clear it up...:eek:

The post times on XDA messages are all in GMT, look at your clock and do the math!

also is anyone else finding that if you browse this site in opera, portrait - mobile view and then reply to a post and flip the keyboard out the screen zoms out landscape and you cannot se what you're typing! hope this is legible as its just done it

only other thing i noticed today was that m2d contacts /people doesnt work landscape

one final thing ;-) where does opera save its bookmarks etc so i can transfer them ?

Here's what I did:
- Burn the correct version HARD SPL.
- Burn the correct version of Radio.
- Burn the ROM.

I did the 3 things using my MicroSD card (not the RUU from my PC).

I was able to get my Kaiser in order in less than an hour.

Java issue do you mean the bottom bar flips out or you can't see?

M2D was ported from a device with no hardware keyboard and has been hacked as much as peeps could.
