Ivan, wizard of ultraslim ROMS for Herald and Wing, has been perfecting his latest ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480369). He's eliminated everything non-essential, and it is very stable.
I asked him "can't you dump WMP? Most people use other music & media players" (because WMP is so poorly designed from user-experience perspective). He said as far as he knows, WMP is required simply to produce the ringtones.
But has anyone at XDA ever found an alternate, slimmer (and less resource hogging) method to play ringtones, allowing the hacking out of WMP?
I'm not afraid to be a Dummy. But I sure hope the answer is: "Yes, see dutty's rom xyz" or something like that :)
