HTC Hermes upgrade help pls

hi everybody...i'm new on this forum and i don't have any experience with flashing roms...i have a Hermes with windows mobile 6 that doesn't want to go along with the upgrades(SPL for start).I read a lot of tutorials but no luck..booted the phone in bootloader mode:
HERM300
IPL-1.01

HERM300
SPL-1.40.Olipro
i'm not the first owner of the phone...it runs well but i'd like to put wm 6.1 on it.
i have tried to hard spl, my phone resets in bootloader mode...the pc recognizes it but after 2-3 minutes it gives me an error( error 260)...
I am currently using windows vista ultimate 32-bit...please give me a hand guys...thanks in advance

best way to flash is from the SD Card:

thanks alot for the response but i am aware of the procedure...i was thinking of trying to flash the rom directly without hard spl...i know it's not recommended...if someone could help me with the error i get i'l apreciate it...
just wondering...could i flash a windows mobile 6.1 rom using the sd card method without doing hard spl (using the spl i have now: 1.40 Olipro) ?

for the SD card method you need HardSPL v7... you will have to flash it... not much else anyone could do with it.

thanks for the posts guys..from my last post i've flashed a f ew roms on my hermes without any problems..istil have spl 1.40..i guess the risk of bricking my device is bigger..i'm now lookIng for a clean 6.1 rom..without any preinstalled aps and crap i dont use...a recommandation would be nice:D
