Been offered a diamond ( which I have updated to latest rom and works pretty fast) or a touch 3g 2 weeks old. Can you advise the pros and cons of each and what would be the best buy?
Cheers

I guess this all depends on where you live if you want 3G or not. Example: 3G is on the Touch 3G is only available in Europe and not North America. Thus no 3G if that matters to you. On the Diamond, 3G is pretty much world wide.
It's best to get more detail....here (http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone2=2526&idPhone1=2368)

Diamond all the way. The specs and usability are twice as good as a Touch3G. The only advantage of the Touch3G would be Footprints (yup the VGA version of Footprints is bug central :().

Can you explian what footprints are? Excuse my ignorance. Also will use the phone in UK. Just that the Touch 3g seems marginarly faster when using the touchflow interface. But the screen on the diamond is nice. R

footprints i think is just an extra tab on touchflo, where you can take snaps, add texts and upload them somwhere to the world wide web.

It adds GPS-data to your photos so you and others can see where in the world the photo was snapped.

I have tried both Diamond and Touch 3g over the last few days and the diamond is much nicer with more features, however the battery life is terrible. I tried to show someone the features of it and within minutes I could see the battery life fading away. The touch 3g on the other hand (although fewer features) seems a little faster and to be honest, unless you use camera or GPS regularly, I can probably get by with less features. FM radio for instance. I cant remember when I used the headset on my last phone, finding it an optional extra that's not needed.
I must admit, I have difficulty resisting all the latest bangs and whistles gadjets but secuming to the high price tags and poor battery life etc when in reality I hardly use all of the features advertised.

Actually a Diamond will get insane battery life. It just depends on the ROM being used. In about 6 hours of moderate use, I have 82% of my battery left from a full charge. Just throwing that out there.

What ROM is that? I have updated to the latest from HTC namaely 2.03.405.3 WWE . It does run faster but I had to charge it twice at work today after showing someone google maps on HSDPA . I think it looks great but ŁG seems faster and more reliable. Thanks Ryan
