TRINITY kitchen WM 6.5 Build 21221 WWE + Trinity OEM packages

An easy and step by step tutorial of how to cook your own ROM for your Trinity using attached kitchen at the bottom of the post.

This kitchen uses Ervius and bebe work so I would like to thank them and all credits should go to them
for this great cooking tools (let me know if by mistake I forgot other guys).

This is a brief description of what you will find in the kitchen and how to use it.

OEM

I used last WM6 official Trinity ROM to extract Trinity OEM packages (a lot of work to create those packages as
you find them on new devices). You may find all this packages in OEM_Trinity folder.

OEM folder contains Trinity original drivers, Trinity camera and a few Trinity packages that must be there
because new versions of those packages found on new devices are incompatible with Trinity drivers.
My advice is to always include the following Trinity packages in OEM folder:

IMPORTANT
----------------------------
1. When using packages from new devices (eg: Jade in my case) take care to NOT OVERWRITE
listed DRIVERS packages.
2. Also YOU SHOULD REMOVE Camera, HTCUtil, Power and WLANSettings from new
device OEM packages (eg: PACKAGE_Jade_HTCUtil, ...).
2.a Exceptions are mHubVO and VersionInfo: you have to include both of them (Trinity and new
device versions) in order to have Camera and other applications (eg: YouTube) functional.
3. DO NOT USE new device PhoneCanvans package as is not compatible with Trinity.

My current configuration uses packages from Jade device (look in OEM folder).

SYS
================================================== ================================================== ==========
For new builds of WM please use the same structure of folders as you find it already in the
kitchen (eg. SYS\21215).

ROM
================================================== ================================================== ==========
Use tool in Ervius kitchen to port new XIP to Trinity.

HOW TO PORT new XIP
----------------------------
1. Clean (erase all files and folders) Tools\XIP_new_ported folder
2. Clean Tools\xip.bin_old folder except *.bin files
3. Clean Tools\xip.bin_new folder except *.bin files
4. Copy new xip.bin file to Tools\xip.bin_new folder (overwrite if needed)
5. Run Ervius kitchen and press Xipporterex & ROM button
6. In Xipporter window uncheck option "Change PP to MB [16]".
7. Press PortIT!!!
8. Check that new xip is found in ROM\SHARED and ROM\Trinity folders (eg: ROM\SHARED\21215, ROM\TRINITY\21215).

Sometime the Xipporter crashes (something related to Cert or PP patcher): just close the error window
and let the tool to continue. In the end will ask if you want to copy new ported Xip to ROM folder and
press YES.

RELEASE_TRINITY
================================================== ================================================== ==========
Prepare ROM update utility depending on operating system you have installed on your machine:

1. Windows XP - copy content of RELEASE_TRINITY\Windows XP to RELEASE_TRINITY (overwrite any files there).
2. Windows Vista or Windows 7 - copy content of RELEASE_TRINITY\Windows Vista to RELEASE_TRINITY (overwrite any files there).

BUILDOS
================================================== ================================================== ==========
1. Copy new OS folder to SYS (must have the same folder structure as SYS\21215,
if not you will have to creat it using 21215 as a template)
2. Add/remove packages you want from OEM (see OEM section for more details)
3. Port XIP (see ROM section for more details) (optional - only for new build)
4. Run Ervius kitchen (in Windows Vista or 7 you might have to run as administrator -> right click on
Erviuskitchen.exe file and choose "Run as Administrator")
5. In Ervius kitchen choose the device, language, Xip build, ROM dpi, ROM res and SYS build you want.
Eg:
DEVICE -> TRINITY
Language -> 0409
XIP Build -> 21215
ROM DPI -> 96
ROM RES -> dpi_96_resh_240_resv_320
SYS Build -> 21215
6. Modify Version ROM (by default: 2.0.00.00)
7. UNCHECK Real WM 6.5 AKU (with this option enabled new ROM won't boot).
8. Check LZX Compression to reduce the size of ROM (might have an inpact on performance 1-4% reported by
author) (optional)
8. Press Save ROM (optional)
9. Press Create ROM and wait for the process to finish (until ROMUpdateUtility appears on screen)
10. Follow the instructions and flash the device (DON'T FORGET to backup all data you need from
main memory otherwise you will loose that data for good).
11. Wait until device is flashed.

It's the only WM 6.5 Build with Manila2D in Trinity Thread, no? Chanvi stopped cooking in Manila2D when he moved onto WM 6.5.

I have just discovered that the download is a "ruu_signed.nbh" file. I have never flashed from just a "ruu_signed.nbh" file.

I have used this method posted by Supersport:

"Use this Flash Utility attached. Unzip, then copy your RUU_Signed.nbh file to this folder and flash. I apologize, I don't know whose this is, but it works for me every time. I hope it works for you...

Also, if you have Olipro 1.20 Hard SPL installed, you could alternatively rename the ruu_signed.nbh to TRINIMG.nbh and copy to your SD Card. Then do a hard reset and it will flash from your SD Card.

For this to work, your SD Card must NOT be SDHC and must be formatted as Fat32.

I wasn't planning on it till I heard good news about it. Any idea if Titanium is still installed? I think it is due to WM 6.5 not working without it, but just curious.

Re-flashed "FInix_3_7_1_Light" and the buttons work as normal now.

I think I'll stick with that for now and wait until more people have tried flashing this new ROM, just to check if anyone has similar problems.

The only thing i don´t like is the keyboard, cause it seams like a WM5 one:D.

To all of you that had problems with start menu and the bip after trying to access start or something else on start bar. It seems that after flash and autorun runs, somehow the app fails to restart the device and thats why it doesn't work for you (start is disabled by autorun app). In order to pass this you have only to soft reset the device and after that everything should run normally.

I have no idea why AutoRun app doesn't reset the device, probably is somehow incompatible with WM6.5 current build.

Yes, I provide only the nbh file, so you need the flash utility. You could find that utility in the kitchen attached to first post of this thread too.

Update:

I've addes the ROM flash utility in second post (after the ROM download links).

For second problem, just reset the device after AutoRun finish the customization. See my previous post for more details.

HTC keyboard is incompatible for now with WM6.5 or at least I couldn't make it work on WM6.5.

1) Same think that happens on WM6. After pressing Lock will appear on left bottom screen the unlock button. Just press Unlock button and an unlock screen (blue screen) will appear with an unlock button in the middle right of the screen. As I said the same as for WM6.0 or WM6.1.
2) No, you have always to keep the drivers that are located in this folders:

If you don't keep TRINITY drivers the device won't boot at all. Not using the TRINITY OEM application listed here you won't be able to use the Camera, to set the brightness of the screen or to set WIFI settings.

All other packages not listed here that you have in OEM_TRINITY folder you can replace them with packages from other device such as Opal or Jade (just look in OEM folder how I used OEM drivers from Trinity and OEM applications listed here with all other packages from Jade dump).

Do not use PhoneCanvas from other devices because is not compatible with TRINITY drivers (each time you will turn on the device display the phone will attempt to automatically dial last phone number in history).

Dupplicate only this OEM packages with packages from other devices:

PACKAGE_Trinity_DRMMiddleware
PACKAGE_Trinity_VersionInfo

TRINITY VersionInfo folder contains VerInfo.dll file and the same package from a newer device contains VerInfo2.dll so the packages do not interfere each other and further more you need both of them because the TRINITY one is used by Camera and Power TRINITY packages and the new version is needed for other packages from new device.

The same applies for DRMMiddleware (only 2 files have the same name rest of them are different versions with different file names).

So it's fine to have only this packages together in the OEM folder:

PACKAGE_Trinity_DRMMiddleware
PACKAGE_Trinity_VersionInfo
PACKAGE_Jade_DRMMiddleware
PACKAGE_Jade_VersionInfo

I have removed CHome and LockScreen. You can find those packages in SYS_Removed folder. Just copy them to SYS folder (SYS\21210\..) and build ROM.

You can use both Manila2d and CHome, just go to Settings\Today and activate the today plugin (Manila or CHome) you want.

First of all you will have to include PACKAGE_Trinity_PhoneCanvas in order to use 1% battery driver. I can't be sure if this will work but you should replace following files/folders with their counterparts from 1% battery package: OEMDrivers\Battery.dll and PACKAGE_Trinity_PhoneCanvas\phcanOverbmp.dll.

I'm trying your SuperLight, and I'm impressed. So far, after only a couple hours, it's running very quick and clean. It does have more free storage space, but a little less free memory than what I've been running. Not sure why yet, but will try to monitor usage.

It's great to have you cooking for us. Job well done! And with more cooks, there will be more ideas presented, which makes for better ROMs for everyone.

Hi Damirzvo,

This is Windows Mobile 6.5 and Microsoft choosed to change a little bit the StartMenu as we know it in previous versions of Windows.
Currently for WM6.5 all programs are displayed in StartMenu and there is only one way to organize them. You can move the most used programs to top of StartMenu. To do this, just select the item you want to move and keep pressing that item until a menu appears on the screen with the option to move it to the top of the screen.

Another approach is to organize the StartMenu in folders (there are a few topics on XDA how to do this).

I believe I know why you don't have more free memory: i've choosed even in light version to keep a few packages that are loaded in memory when the app starts (e.g.: PACKAGE_Jade_LargeTitleBar).

I tried your new "full" rom, but Trinity doesn't see storage card... I tried diffrent card, also nothing. SR nad HR also doesn't help, I flash with build 21501.5.0.70 and everything is ok. Also you first rom was ok, only with "full ver" I've got this problem.

removed some packages (Manila-Adobe pdf-Large title bar-RSS hub- Muvo-

And sdautorun after first boot does not restart and after i restart i found file explorer does not show storage card

Another question:
how can i convert packages extracted by package creator 2.7 to packages that can be added to the rom. And where should i put them (OEM folder??)

I've tried myself the full version and indeed SD is not available. Not sure why but I will investigate the problem.

Indeed there is a problem with AutoRun on this build, the device is not restarted after customization is done.
Also I will have to investigate why SD card on some builds is not available.

I'm not familiar with package creator 2.7, maybe somebody else could help you with this.

Understood , if wan't Titanium , the phone Lockscreen system must be sacrified .

I see a lot of you with SDCard problems. Please use for now TRINITY_WM6.5 ROM (in FULL, LIGHT and SUPERLIGHT I see that are problems with SD card - not sure why but I will investigate as soon as I will have some free time).

I didn't test it FULL, LIGHT and SUPERLIGHT versions, but I'm surprised to see those problems (normally everything should run fine, i've just removed/add a few packages that should not interfiere with SD drivers)..

I'm afraid that is not enough.

You should also replace all packages in Dev_build\OEM\TRINITY\COMMON that ends with _409 with italian versions. Also please note that all modules that starts with PACKAGES_TRINITY are in WWE. Normally you should search for all files inside those packages that contains string "_0409" in the file name and replace all of them with Italian ones (you should get the italian versions of those files dumping the Italian HTC original ROM).

If you want also the Windows in Italian you should replace all packages found in Dev_build\SYS\21210\SHARED\COMMON\ folder (eg: Base_Lang_0409) with Italian versions.

1.) Bluetooth is working
2.) SD card is working
3.) Ringtone setting is working

3. After soft reset, the text "Messages" sometimes appears in top left instead of "Start".

1. Ok, I've just checked the Spb Mobile Shell 3.0 and everything works fine in my default ROM (TRINITY_WM6.5_21210_WWE).

For now LIGHT, SUPERLIGHT and FULL versions are removed due to SD card and other problems (until I found the bug).

SOLUTION:
If you flash a Rom and discover that the Spb theme does not change when select a new colour (it happened to me on Chanvi's 6.5 Rom too), you need to go into settings / personal/ today and change the theme to black. Once you have done this, you will be able to change the colour of the spb background theme using the spb theme change selection, e.g. green , blue, gold, etc.

I will take a look at Chanvi's ROM maybe that will help me to solve the problem, thanks for the input.

1. Actually I used as a template the JADE rom and a few cab files created by some other guys to replicate the packages using a syncapp. Some files and all registry I had to move them manually.

2. EXT folder is for other packages (maybe other applications that you need in the ROM - you will have to use CAB2OEM.exe app).

From what I know that build is older than 21215, don't let you impressed by the high number. Somebody just renamed the dlls versions (from 21210 I think).

I didn't fixed files I've just moved the OEM_DRIVERS to SYS folder from OEM.

Just download the kitchen, erase what you don't need from OEM and SYS folders, move the OEM_DRIVERS and compile.

Great work. There are some things to fix in this latest lite version.
Phone options is not working,
There is some issue with the device storage. After reset some files are missing:confused:
You can set the camera default folder on storage card to be DCIM\100MEDIA so the pictures can be shown on the chome pictures tab.

Just wanted to share my post flash experience of the Lite ROM:-

the device reset and stalled on boot loader for around 5 minutes

Hard Reset the device and got to the Windows Mobile Splash Screen
and needed another hard reset

Finally i decided to do a full system reset (two front buttons and the stylus) and it came back ok.

After initial alignment and general configuration - the build settled down and was reasonably quick.

At this point i'm a happy bunny!!
until.

I needed to pair my headset (plantronics explorer 220) but the phone would not startup the bluetooth in comm manager...

I gave up with the bluetooth and reinstalled my TomTom7 - which worked straight away and the GPS worked ok as well.

(un)luckily for me in needed to phone the wife.... and now i have to restore around 200 contacts from my PIM backup as they have vanished for some unknown reason - although not all of them!!

I was running FInix3.7.2Normal -OS5.2.20764 B20764.1.4.3 with only a few niggles.
sadly being a hardcore techie, i always need to have the latest in software etc.

Keep up the excellent work guys - i have a few HTC devices to play with, so i will flash as many roms at report back my findings.

You are not using the latest kitchen (build 21215). Download again from first post and try to erase what you don't need in OEM and move OEMDRIVERS to SYS.

For a list of what packages should be in OEM and SYS please look in second post for LIGHT version of ROM.

Trying the lite ROM and looking great so far, but have been unable to change the SIP. Have tried EzInput 1.5 and Finger Keyboard 2.1, but when they are selected, the default keyboard is selected instead.

Anyone else having this problem?

I don't have a problem changing the SIP to one of the others installed by default though.

2. Normally you can do everything you want with the ROM if you use the kitchen.

I'm able to change SIPs (at least the stock ones). EzInput just doesn't work no matter how I choose to change it (directly from WM or using one of the programs you posted here).

I believe the problem is the keyboard itself (EzInput).

Yes, indeed you have to kill the process (use FdcTaskManager or other advanced taskmgr to kill quickgps.exe) in order to be able to run it.
This one is not related to WM6.5 but rather to QuickGPS package that I donwloaded from a thread on TRINITY forum.

If you have a better QuickGPS that works better than what I have please let me know.

nope, I don't think it's a compatibility issue, somehow I managed to get QuickGPS to work on Chanvi's 21501 IE6_Lite version (WM6.5) all the times with no problem. Forgot which file was that, too lazy to upload..but the filenames is Titan QuickGPS, just search this site.

I got a Failure in "How to port new XIP"
after doing step 1 to 3 i copied the xip.bin from "d:/Dev_build_21221_Full/Dev_build/ROM/Trinity"
to "d:/Dev_build_21221_Full/Dev_build/Tools/xip.bin_new/"
I started the kitchen press the button, uncheck the box and PortIT!!!

Then this showes up:
Failure: "boot.rgu in xip.bin_old not found! Create new... but maybe rom will be NON BOOTABLE!!!"

In ../Dev_build/Sys/ I create a folder by copieng the folder 21221 and rename it to 21222.

after doing all steps with the failure i checked if there was created a new folder in .../dev_build/ROM and /ROM/Trinity but there is nothing!

Maybe you could help me!

BTW- I use Win7 Home Premium.

4. I also find eviuskitchen.exe file

Then what should do, after I find these folders???
