View Full Version : 6.1 Today Screen Timeout - Where in the registry?

My xv6800 was reliably returning the the Now Screen for SPB Mobile Shell v2 after sleeping. I started playing around with Mobile Shell v3 and the phone no longer returns to the Home screen after sleeping.

I have the Settings, Today, Items, Home Screen timeout disabled, which should allow for an almost immediate return to Home after sleeping. I uninstalled Mobile Shell, and found that the phone doesn't return to the Today screen any longer as well.

I'm guessing a registry entry got hosed. Does anyone know where the Today Screen Timeout setting is in the registry.

Thanks!

i know there is a "show the now screen when device wakes up" in v2
i also have the today timeout set to 1hr
but i dont really understand what that setting is supposed to do
i just disabled it and didn't notice a change in behaviour
i want to install v3 but i think i'm going to go for a custom rom first
hmm...

i just searched the entire registry for the word "today" and didn't find anything directly representing the timeout
i guess i could have missed it
but i'm wagering your problem is an spb setting

Here's the deal.

The today screen timeout in Windows mobile is supposed to be the amount of time before Windows takes you back to the today screen (when the phone is put to sleep). The minimum value is one hour. So if you have it set for one hour, and the phone sleeps for at least that long, you should wake up to the today screen regardless of where you left off.

Unlike the option to always open at the Now screen for MS v2, MS v3 relies on the Windows timeout, which in my experience doesn't work. Basically, this means with MS3, when you wake your phone up, you're gonna be where ever you left off, i.e a call screen, txt msg screen, some application, etc.

My thought was to manually change the registry setting for Windows to something real short, like a minute, to see if that would fix it. I searched for "today" and "timeout" and couldn't find anything that looked like it either.

A bunch of people have been screaming about this at the SPB forum, so maybe they'll fix it pretty quick.

Thanks.
