Great to see ROMs starting to be developed for the device, even if there is no HardSPL yet. I'm sure the stock ROMs has a lot of tweaking potential.

Hi!

Great! Will it be possible to flash a device without hardSPL, as long as the correct language is used? So if the original device is Norwegian, will I be able to flash your Norwegian ROM without hardSPL?

These ROMs are great, but if there is no way of flashing them yet are they any use? I want to be able to try other radios on my TD2 because the stock one really sucks. Are any other HTC radios likely to be compatible?

Would be sweet if you could mix manila with the Topaz and the Rhodium. Rhodium has that sweet start menu :) Rhodium has a better dialer imo and the programs tab is useless if you use the Rhodium start button.

What do you think?

I would love to do something like that, but since I'm quite unlikely to get a Topaz (I can't really justify it at the moment) I'll need to get people here to test things for me! Who's up for some beta testing?

In other news, I have 1.6GB of ROMs uploading now in 8 languages (040C,0407,0409,0410,0413,0414,0419,0816) and two builds (21041/21042 and 21046/21046).

Hi,

first of the well known Tom Tom Bug (clipping sound). There is a fix, which fixes the problem, one could implement it in a future ROm release. It was pointed out in that topic, that the radio is causing the problem.

Second bug: When you are using the TT fix I have to open the media player twice to get it work. First time I open it it works, but has no sound (TT is running in background), close it reopen it, voila it works with sound. Very stupid bug, but ok, if you know how to handle it.

TT has the old GPS lag, which also occured with the Diamond 1. I remember 2 cooks, which played around with some sound drivers to get better GPS. It was like this: the better the GPS, the worse and more skippy sound you had. So you had to choose between one of the two. I really hope this "playing around" with the driver works at the D2 too. ;)

Other then that I would like to get a ROM which is stripped of all the stupid stuff (Office, Windows Update, etc).

Those are my "dreams".

Off course there are some really useful tweaks flying around to get GPS fotos to work with the internal cam. I was thinking, why not include it in the first place into a new ROM? I found this site (its German) where they keep tracking every new trick. A cab which does them all or most of all (the ones which dont hurt) would be really nice. ;) Here is the site:

A new version has lots of little tweaks under the hood, and Rhodium manila.

The graphics are really inconsistent, I haven't yet changed them, but it'd be good to see if it works...

Turns out it doesn't work...

Since I don't actually have a Topaz, it's going to be difficult to test these ROMs, but I'll upload beta versions for testing...

First up (and uploading now) is a basic 21051 SYS/XIP port in WWE, with nothing new from the Rhodium. It uses the 1.40 ROM as a base. It does have some things like sample music and videos removed, but nothing new added apart from Net CF 3.5...

I'm uploading a few test ROMs now...

When they're up, they'll be in my 4shared account here (http://www.4shared.com/dir/15585446/c381dd05/BETA.html).

The ROM names have been updated so they now represent a build version... 09060901 is the first one. The build number represents DDMMYY followed by the version of that day. Hopefully this will be more logical and easier to track.

What's in the ROMs:
09060901 contains:
Original Topaz OEMs, 21051 XIP/SYS

09060902 contains:
Rhodium OEMs, 21051 XIP/SYS with Topaz Drivers etc

09060903 contains
Rhodium OEMs, 21051 XIP/SYS, Topaz Drivers, some new applications, re-ordered start menu, lots of tweaks.

The soft reset doesn't fix it.
It stops at the 75-80 percent of customization.

Don't panic!! :eek:

You just put it in Bootloader mode by pressing and holding volume down and soft reset the device. Once in Bootloader mode, plug it to your PC, and then flash one of the other ROM's, an official one or a cooked one. I used udK's Topaz R1 WWE ROM. This is working on my Topaz now.

Press and hold volume down button. Then do soft reset by pressing stylus into red reset button. You find the red reset button if you remove the back cover and the stylus. The reset button is in the slot where the stylus is in usually.

No need to press power button!

Yes I have not needed my anti-panic tablets.

For those uninitiated I pressed the red reset button then immediately pressed the volume down get into bootloader. I am installing UDK's ROM now.. we'll see.....

Okay...

Changed my mind... I've decided to start cooking for Topaz again. Still don't have a device, so have to rely on beta testers for now...

Shadowline and NoMercyWWE have tested this for me, and all seems good so far, so here's a release!

It's 21051 from the Rhodium, with a few minor tweaks (OEMDrivers has been SpinLock patched, gxdma has been updated).

You'll need an RUU etc, but hopefully this should work for everyone... Enjoy!

Just downloaded the 6.1 wwe 1.3 version. It seems to hand on running the customizations at around 85%. Screen appears for over 25 minutes already. Anyone else has this problem?

for the 6.1 there is a bug in the alarm, clicking on the ringtone (sound) it relaunches tf3d.

alo tried 6.5, found it a bit laggy and some app were not compatible compared to 6.1

Can you tell me what didn't work on 6.5?

Was the issue on 6.1 when you went into manila->settings tab->sound?

P.S. Horray for being some of the first outside of HTC, china, and the private club of UDK to have 6.5 on a topaz!!! :D

Not sure about the SIM thing... Does it run ConnectionSetup twice then (I'm guessing once after configuration, once after a soft reset)? If it does, then I have no ideas, other than fudging it to not run during setup.

If so, I'll remove PhoneCanvas (you'll have to suffer with WMs dialler).

Does VoiceRecorder start up? Removing PhoneCanvas will need to more space and RAM so that should solve things.

update: i'm getting the .netcf error on nearly every application that needs netcf ... seems 3.7. is not really supported by a lot of apps yet .

tried installing 3.5 netcf and still getting the errors after using netcfg ... seems something is missing? if you need/want me to test tonight, please let me know.

It seems there is a little bug in this rom. If you go to start --> settings --> sounds touchflo restarts and nothing further happens.

Could by this is also a cause due to tf3d2 tweak by atom is installed.

Confirmed. I get the same problem.

Also, I am unable to choose different directories in certain instances. For example, if I am viewing outlook mail and try to change directore from the drop down list to my regular mail I get no response from the screen (also in different programs where I am asked to choose a directory and a file).

Otherwise, good job! It is working.

Edit: found a bug,cant dialing with the keypad. Dialig from Contacts is OK.
Only with keypad dont work, alows you typing only 2 numbers, than the touchscrenn freeze,phone works normal. After pressing "X" on the dialerscreen and reopening it, same, only 2 numbers !!!!

Will try to install another dialer.

Maybe little bugs in the 6.5 ver:

- No Bluetooth status on the taskbar (the BT is working well)
- In treeview (some file explorers, registry editors) the tree elements sometimes not selectable by stylus
- the ROM is a little bit slow (I'm trying to find the reasons)
- Some softwares cannot work with the .Net 3.7

Yes, it seems a litle bit slow, but not the ROM itself, its the touchscreen who is so "lazy".At the first start after flashing,you have to align the screen,that option is missing in this ROM. On my phone,under SETTINGS, executed the align screen utility,and after calibration the response is much faster after pressing on the screen.

For me its now,after align the screen, absolutely "normal", to say fast. Video,music,pictures... all is OK.

Me too, my loved "changescreen" didnt start :mad:

For sure, its early for CF 3.7, perhaps later in another build of the ROM.

Btw, found another Bug:

in Messenger, after taping in upper left corner, on the "inbox" button, the pull-down menu pops up and the screen freeze !!!
Its possible only to close the Window by taping on "X" and after the phone is normal.

Fix all the reportet bugs?

I installed .Netcf 3.5 and later the .Netcf 2.0 and configured to the earlier version, but the problem is permanent.
Not the .Netcf the reason of these malfunctions.

Hmm, I think i figured what the screen delay is, I am finding even after the alignment, I need to press a little harder to make a selection.

I just installed Advanced Config (and reinstaleld NET3.7), but the select any option I must hold for a second, I cannot just tap it ... :confused:

I can confirm the issue with advanced config ... took me ages to get through. some titanium plugins are still behaving weird (facebook for instance but i guess this is related more to the plugin than the os. can anyone try that plugin please ? found in dev&hack all wm6.5 plugins.

Thanks for all the feedback!

Seems to me the issues are:
NetCF 3.7 is a corrupt OEM, but installed as a cab it works fine?
The Topaz Dialer can be replaced by the rhodium dialler and things start to work
I need to re-enable the screen alignment (disabled by HTC, not me!) during first boot

The lack of bluetooth status is due to the dialler, so changing that should fix it.

Note, I haven't included a radio ROM at all, and (probably) won't as I can't test it out to see what works...

I should have a new build with Rhodium OEMs, and 21812 SYS/XIP up later today for your delectation :)

I should have a new build with Rhodium OEMs, and 21812 SYS/XIP up later today for your delectation :)

Nice promise, thanks in advance!!!!

Radio: with the originaly shipped ROM, 1.39.407, have 1-2 bars signalstrenght ( live a litle bit out of the town ), with the new one have just now, 4 bars signalstrenght ( mostly 3-4 )

Another positive feature: with the Originalrom Homescreen++, reports in standby,nothing is running, ~260mA powerleak. With the new 6.5 ROM have ~160mA !!!!!!!!! I think thats because, in the original ROM, the repllog.exe is running in the background. It was impossible to kill her, after killing the process, repllog.exe pops alone up. repllog.exe is "ActiveSync".
Absolutely great with the new ROM is 31mA powerleak in standby,without the screen. With the original ROM measured ~80mA !!!
Now we have the, from HTC promised standby of 350 hours.

Hope that feedback help our Chefcook to kill the remainig bugs.

(I think TOPAIMG.nbh would be what you have to call it, not sure though)

I think if people don't mind loosing a bit of space that's gained from LZX compressing the ROM, the battery life could go up even more!

Okay, thank you very much. It works like a charm, but there are some idea's / issues:

First, when I called me, it took the phone 5 seconds to play the ringtone, normal? Second, maybe an idea to create it for landscape as well? :)

I didn't notice any radio difference?

That's the WM6.1 build yes?

I've got a new WM6.1 ROM with lots of new OEM packs coming up soon... Can you tell me if the NetCF 3.7 works in the 6.1 ROM?

I'm guessing that's the 6.5 with HTC PhoneCanvas?

There was a cab posted a few posts back with a link to my own cab of the Rhodium dialler. Does that work better?

It works until it runs out of suggestions for contacts.
It then kinda works half assed, you can push buttons 1/10 of the times.

The issue on portrait mode is that the application starts properly but when we press any number, it does not display on the screen..

For landscape mode, when the number is pressed, it displays on the screen, but there's no result shown when pressing "="..

Actually, vichet is wrong.
It does display the numbers, but they are tiny and off to the left.

New build is so much quicker, however

calculator is still broken despite hotfix. It has large text now but clipped so the numbers cant be made out.

As previously mentioned HD tweak does not load but a simple re-install fixes that.

Found out why. Will upload a hotfix now!

Turns out the TP2 and the TD2 have a different WiFi chip.... Or at least a different WiFi chip address..

Found another bug in the release from today, l3v5y_TOPAZ_6.5_16060901.nbh. :confused:

In messenger,trying to write an SMS, but the Touchscreen is not responding.
The keyboard is workin well and the slider of the right side is sensitive to touch but the part of the screen where write the text and the recepient dont respond, is not sensitive. Only that part of the screen!!

Have installed ZoomBoard 2.03, is that the reason????

With the Full QWERTY keyboard you can navigate with the cursorbuttons, but the screen is still insensitive.

Please, anyone to verify that????

Is there a way to add swedish T9 after you have flashed this rom?

I have the swedish word-list in a .ldb file and a D2 that i might export required files from. Not asking for a GUI translation just the T9 function.
Would really really want this too. I would seriously love you if you include it in a new rom or as a cab.

It might be under the keyboard settings (that's if it's a language that ships with the Topaz ROMs)

Do you have the file SVlsUN.ldb in \windows (if 6.5 use the same kind of language/xt9 as 6.1)? If not, then i guess it only has T9 for the main 5 languages and not the "other" languages that D2 ships with (in sweden atleast).

It's due to the updated CommManager exe. I can always revert to the older one (there should be no real differences, but higher builds makes it sound better! :D)

There should be a little arrow next to the SIP button in the bottom menu bar. Hit that, then hit the "Touch Input Settings" button.

To change the language it's the second option in the popup from the little arrow next to the SIP button.

Just installed the attached "ComManagerf3G.cab" and BT is working now!!!!
Have a look at the picture, at top left in the Taskbar, the blue BT sign.
Still not working blue LED light!
WiFi is working too, have a look at the second picture, at the upper left corner, the second icon from left, thats WiFi. No LED light too.

As a benefit, 3G is disponible too!!

Now give a try with the new Comm-Manager, need to kill him first.

What ROM was that?

What language keyboard was it? (I'm assuming it was the HTC xT9 keyboard)

It was: RUU_Topaz_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.40.707.1_Radio_Signed_Top az_61.20t.25.10_3.43.25.19_Ship

I like the A4 Chinese keyboard came preinstalled with the rom.

I'd be happy if "all keyboards" are moved to the new rom.

Is it enabled in phone settings?

It might be that HTC swapped it in the Rhodium ROM for some straightalk function. I'll check it out.

Other bug:

In same app I can't select. For example: PIM Backup-restore. I can select the folder, but I can't the file in the folder. Same in TC with copy. It TC I can move up and down with arror but PIM backup I don't have input panel.

I thought I'd fixed that with my touch flo tweak...

Can you go to settings->System->TouchFlo, and uncheck finger scrolling?

I am not using the Manila versin, so I can't used that solution. :(

TouchFlo and Manila are different.

TouchFlo is HTCs finger scrolling system. TouchFlo3D is manila. You should have the settings for TouchFlo in the System tab.

Since I am using Manila version, pressing start menu will lead me to Touchflo start menu... Normally, we can go to system setting by going to "Touchflo settings -> All settings... however, in this case, pressing "All settings" will lead me to "Connection setting".. that's so odd..

New bug:

1. SMS
Once selected "TO" field (e.g. typed a number), cannot tap on message field to type message
*solution - use arrows on keyboard

2. TF3D Settings
TF3D Settings tab > All settings - goes to Connection / Proxy tab .
DOES NOT go to Control Panel.
There's no way to switch it back to WM6.5 once selected TF3D.(maybe there's)

3. FLIP 2 MUTE in WM 6.5 does not work.(only works in TF3D)

1) Must be a SYS issue... I think... Not seen that before on my device...

2) TF3D settings is not my problem... That's HTCs fault. Can you not switch tabs at the bottom though? If not, I can write a config app for that...

Just flashed the new one and the orange startpicture is too short, the screen is 3/4 full :D:D

hmmm...something changed in this build.
