A question here from USA
As everybody is only talking from the X1 I guess it would be nice when we, who owns the X1a, have also the compatibility to install those nice Roms.
I ask this question because of the Radio difference between countries and I, or we don't want to loose the reception or the network connection.
It would be nice to get an answer because the whole Forum is only about the X1 and nothing about the X1a in USA.

I live in America, I develop and test with my X1a, and I use a 850 MHz carrier (see my signature), so you can rest asured THIS ROM IS MEANT FOR THE X1a

PS: The whole forum is devoted to X1i or X1a, no differences when skinning/tweaking/flashing

same phone mate regardless of model number. these make no difference to roms flashed! once you HARDSPL you can flash away by method of your choice. most people us mem card option but i like using RUU thru desktop. In gen most people use the 1.11.25.76 radio as WC does in the USA but there seems to be a mass following for the new radio 1.14.25.55 which i am using and works very well.

PS. each time i sync my x1 after a flash it sometimes come s up as x1i or x1a. really dont matter at all

This is because the contacts button is remmaped in WM6.5 (similar thing happened with touchflo, where the right button was always mapping to "touchflo home". This is not a bug but a conflict between SE's panel system and WM6.5´n new default button assignment

2- look at post 2, I've added a link to a great "CAB batch installer" app, no need to learn UC coding
TIP: you can automate all of your CABs to install into device, avoiding all the pop up questions

3- yes you can add more personal ringtones to the sscroll down lists:
- For the phone: drop them into my docs/my ringtones
- For alarm/sms: drop them into /windows/ or leave them in th root directory as I did

It will play mp3, wav, wma and amr

Look at the screen cap in first post: you'll see the scroll-down ringtone menu for "new e-mail message" with a ring I added to my phone, it says "las concorde -" (las concordes - love is a bitch.mp3)
I just droped that file into the root dir

to you folks with the youtube issuue. i did, try, to install the newer youtube by google. it didn't work or wouldn't load what have you on this rom, but...

if you don't mind the slightly unprofessional look of it. youtubeplay works just fine and i can download videos and extract .mp3 and watch the .flv videos yea it's way better imo... and it works on gtrab's rom! check it out!

try wild child's new rom as youtube works perfect on it. gtrab is still working on porting pure youtube app to experia but in meantime it works perfectly on wild childs rom :D

I suggest you to download from the very first post, many mirrors went up inside this thread with the corrupted ROM W4X.19 version

Go to settings->device info and check if yours is W4X.23



If you are using the SEX1 / W4X cutomiztion pack, be aware the screen auto-adjust (dim) is disabled by default, and the turn-off timers are also disabled.
The screen is set to FULL BRIGHT all the time, and that sucks a lot of battery, but I like the bright :D
You can change that in settings-> power

If panelmanager.exe IS listed in processes, then it has been launched already

Panel manager will behave SLOW for the first time

Press the panel manager button "X PANEL" repeatedly, the panels interface will launch after some seconds, then choose a panel and let it load (slow the first time)

After that, panel manager will work a charm, almost instantly

Have been away for the weekend so downloaded the new W4X.23 yesterday. Played with it during the day, and reall liked it!
Feels very smooth, installed GfxBoost and feeled even smoother (Xtrakt almost blew me away:p).

my suggestion would be:

download them all, install them, decide for yourself, and uninstall whatever you don't like

No, this ROM is meant to be as pure as possible (Sony XPERIA software over Windows Mobile 6.5)

Use the forum's search function and I am sure that CAB will appear more than twice

just wanted to post a quick thank you. been too scared to hard-spl my x1 until recently, but finally did it last week. tried a few different ROMs and settled on this one. it's great stuff. significantly faster than the stock ROMs and no vodafone branding, huzzah! :)

two questions:
1) do you have a beer buying mechanism or do you only take thanks in text form? :)

2) anyone else notice that occasionally, after the phone's been idle for a while, the top bar says Messaging and you have the context menus for the messaging screen, but the main pane is still the today screen? i noticed it on Itje's ROM too, so presumably a 6.5 issue. I'm assuming it's when one of my email accounts are auto-updating or have updated. very odd.

make sure u have FAT32 and not FAT on ur sd card ...

I did have FAT32. It turned out, like I read in another post that 1GB micro SD cards may have an issue. I popped in my 8GB card in and it worked great!

i installed this rom a few days ago and its great but i have a problem with the media xperience panel, i can't control the volume for the music, the volume meter in the panel works but it doesn't do anything to change the volume, it stays on the same volume level even if i change the system volume level. all help would be greatly appreciated

hi evoglobe, are you sure you aren't seeing the contacts from the device AND the sim card? this can be disabled using xperiatweak in the normal contact list, but i don't know if it works with the mediapanel (i didn't think anyone used the contacts on the media panel! :) ).

personally i just deleted all the contacts from my sim card and backed up the ones on my phone to my SDCard using PPCPimBackup (just in case).

If TomTom was already installed on the MemoryCard you just need to create a shortcut to the TomTom Navigator.exe file and it will run fine.

if phone is set to turn wifi off in standby then when you hit power button it will auto connect back to wifi. you can however edit setting to keep wifi on while in standby but consumes batt power. :D

2- USB to PC is not an XPERIA native app, but it will be proted soon don't worry

icic... i juz try out the CFacebook Titanium Plugin but everytime i click on it, it say The File 'Facebook' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. if the problem presists, try reinstalling or restore this file.
i have facebook v0.16 and facebook IM installed, what else am i missing??

Open up Settings -> Today, and I see all the themes listed. I select any theme and press OK on the screen (top right corner). The theme seems to be loading, but the CHome screen just shows up blue, no background wallpaper. The same thing happens no matter what theme I choose.

It seems to me the format of the *.tsk files in your kitchen is not right. Check out this set of tsks and let me know if works

BTW, if you look at the the BuildNB.bat file, you will see this line:
attrib +h +s +a +r temp\dump\*.tsk

change it to:
attrib -h +s +a +r temp\dump\*.tsk, you should be able to see all .tsk files in the selection box

It works fine for me

I can control VOL thru the incorporated finger slide bar andup/down icons, and even thru the standard vol keys :confused::confused:

Which ROM you using ??
I have re-tested it for you:

in W4X.23 = OK
in W4X.23 BB = OK
with SEX1 enhancement package = both OK

i tried the: TITANIUM CFacebook plug-in, installed the latest Facebook found here and it is not working. Error message " something like either not signed or Facebook not found.
Any Ideas here?

So i copied wma's into /windows (for the Alarm) but it is not showing up. Btw i have done the same in the Original Rom so i figured it should work, but it is not. Do you have a tip for me??

The only thing what looks like the old 6.1 is the Volume Control, do you have something to make this a little nicer like on the Touch Pro only in style of the WM 6.5??

All other so far works and it is fast. Great Rom.

Stable and fast. The way i love to have a phone.
Cheers mate. Indeed a very nice job.
Single bug: when i entered the today setup and no theme was there, pushed ok and blocked entire system. Restarted and put in some themes from SE site (i've copied them into windows folder) and problem solved: new themes there and working fine.
I have now one happy sister (it's her phone and she's going to test everything (it's a tech freak, but without the knowledge)) and she's going to give constant feedback and i'll post it here.

Thank you so much for the ROM.

Just to report following findings.

When Regional Settings is set to Chinese (Hong Kong S.A.R), the Quick GPS cannot be open.

However, Quick GPS can open when Regional Settings is set to English (United States).

I tested it in the following steps.

(1) Set to Chinese Region, Quick GPS cannot open.
(2) Set to English Region, Quick GPS can open.
(3) Change back to Chinese Region, Quick GPS cannot open.
Soft-reset is done between each step.

I wanted to Flash the radio to 1.11.25.71 but somehow my RUU via usb aint working anymore, it fetches information from the mobile phone, but once it restarts into OliNex it says no image file found. Really frustrating.... Also X1 HardSPL gives the same result so reinstalling OliNex wont work via USB either.

Try flashing Straight from the memory card rather than doing it via the PC, it is also alot easier and safer!

you have to rename file to Kovsimg.nbh to use card method. pc method file is named ruu_signed. same for HARDSPL as well. i prefer pc method myself.

i tried the: TITANIUM CFacebook plug-in, installed the latest Facebook found here and it is not working. Error message " something like either not signed or Facebook not found.
Any Ideas here?

Additional i found in a converstation this following text:
3- yes you can add more personal ringtones to the sscroll down lists:
- For the phone: drop them into my docs/my ringtones
- For alarm/sms: drop them into /windows/ or leave them in th root directory as I did
It will play mp3, wav, wma and amr
So i copied wma's into /windows (for the Alarm) but it is not showing up. Btw i have done the same in the Original Rom so i figured it should work, but it is not. Do you have a tip for me??

The only thing what looks like the old 6.1 is the Volume Control, do you have something to make this a little nicer like on the Touch Pro only in style of the WM 6.5??

From there you can customize SMS, email, MMS, etc etc
Sorry WinMo can only play WAV files for the alarm itself... and that's the way it has been since 1999 :p
TIP: I use to convert small portions of mp3s to WAVs to get a nice wake-up alarm in my mornings, or try G-ALARM, nice little app that will let you use mp3

3- I am working on a SEX1 VolumeControl app for WM6.5
I will also add the HTC COMM MANAGER since the original XPERIA software included it too
And yes again, you bet I will skin them to better match WM65/XPERIA :D

Just to report following findings.
When Regional Settings is set to Chinese (Hong Kong S.A.R), the Quick GPS cannot be open.
However, Quick GPS can open when Regional Settings is set to English (United States).
I tested it in the following steps.
(1) Set to Chinese Region, Quick GPS cannot open.
(2) Set to English Region, Quick GPS can open.
(3) Change back to Chinese Region, Quick GPS cannot open.
Soft-reset is done between each step.

RAM usage is around 40% which means 127MB free RAM
Those are better figures than with the stock ROM, and even more important (IMHO) than numbers, the feeling is faster too

RAM usage is not affecting the battery
Battery is affected when disabling auto-dim screen or exhaustive WiFi use

You are going the hard way...

1- There are different RUU apps for different ROM FLASHES (SPL ROM, RADIO ROM or OS ROM)
2- some microSD cards JUST DON'T WORK no matter what you do to them, and some others do

5 days and this WM6.5 ROM simply rocks! It is fast and very stable. Great Job!

Not sure whether is it just me, but I cannot install any of the 6.5 themes. Using the designer 6.5 themes, I copy the .TSK files to the Windows folder. Open up Settings -> Today, and I see all the themes listed. I select any theme and press OK on the screen (top right corner). The theme seems to be loading, but the CHome screen just shows up blue, no background wallpaper. The same thing happens no matter what theme I choose.

Finally after trying several things, it jumped into the loading screen and updated my RADIO. As said, i flashed before, several times and it always worked out. I tried a lot of different things, but it just didnt work.

But i'm very happy now that it all worked out and iam very curious for the new release that you will bring us soon i hope :)

I think it;s a great build with flash player built-in and some new interfaces. Many webs require flash player can be opened with this build, but it has some bugs with HW keyboard. Any idea to fix it?

Having applied one of the tweaks with the battery icon I think I know why MS have done it to these builds.
Try tapping X with your finger when you have the default WM6.5. It's really easy.
Now try with the old skool method (eg WM6.1). Bloody hard.

you need to update the "ACTIONURL" and maybe the "SK2URL" Parameters with CHome Editor to point to right location where Facebook is installed.

totally agree @ comment re builds. dont see da point of releasing new roms wid only real change being build number. not much difference at all between 21501, 21215 and 21222. minor speed improvements and stability enhancements. stuff being removed leading to more bugs etc. nothing wrong wid 4x and .23 rom. no point releasing roms just for build number wid look, feel and usage virtually the same. official release due soon of 6.5 and new opera 9.7 imminent so exciting things ahead. :D enough out there for flashing junkies!:D

@new theme pack - like your customisations due. new beta 6.5 icons rock and all the extras you create helps keep x1 fresh and new.

the ram just goes away after a while and i can only recover part of it with clear ram programs ... and also after a while the whole system gets sloppy n choppy (today screen taking several seconds to load) im only using coreplayer+opera+msn and after i close all , the effect remains

other than that , good feature pack , stablitiy is fair , tho it clearly misses a Mole Youtube app , id be happy if som1 could point a link for that for me (pls no TF3d pack ...)

I had the same problem with Greek Region but I solve the problem :

go to registry hklm\software\htc\quickgrs
and then change the Dword to :
auto fm 0 to 1
put yr phone to sleep mode for few sec, then open the "lights" ;) and then restart

open quickgps and update

mate try WC W5x rom as based on similar concept so should not lose performance. youtube is fully functional and no manila there either. click on the link at bottom of my sig. can't hurt to try as that what XDA is all about! CHOICE!

A question though: has anyone else experience their phone not staying 'suspended'? If I press the power button to suspend my phone the screen will turn on every now and then and then turn itself off. Is this a bug in WM6.5? Or are there some conflicting settings somewhere?

That's just a skin/theme for WM6.5. Turns out Titanium is just a couple of XML files (named titanium_w_h.cpr), some PNGs (or DLLs) and some registry values. Once you work out what to do it's pretty easy to skin. Bit like TouchFlo or SPB.

Because hardSPL is something else...

You can't flash this ROM because you haven't hardSPL you device, after hardSPL (see sticky) your bootloader should say:

MicroP2-707

So flash hardSPL first (follow instructions in sticky) and then try flashing this ROM.

Same here. It only does it when i minimise the numeric keypad and only when i scroll down but not when i scroll up. When i scroll up it sorts itself back out.

after rom being flash yesterday, and battery charge for 1 night.
today just received few short call, sms, about 15 min wifi, until 7 pm, my battery left 20% drop from 100 % ,feeling x1 is warm at the back also at front top continiously.

if i use stock room, even i talk for 1 hour phone, battery still can last for 2 days.

also ram keep at 42% at boot, no program load .

another question
if the phone under the weak signal environment, its that "eat" my battery?

i flashed rom yesterday but the new bigger softkey menus were only there briefly, they have gone back to the old style now. All I did was try out some themes and install some games and the radio panel. Is there a setting I need to change or do I need to reset? Ive removed the themes i installed. Only had the phone since friday so its all new to me :rolleyes:

I used Opera inside the Xperia, but it was a couple of months ago, now SPEEDTEST.net has upgraded to flash player 8 :(

Battery usage has more to do with other stuff, not the ROM itself:
- disabling backlight auto-dim sucks battery
- disabling auto-shut off sucks battery
- hard, intensive usage (as "exploring" a new ROM :D) sucks battery juice fast
- low signal environment sucks battery too

Try adjusting your power settings to get more battery life

Nobody will be able to find a solution for you because that's happening in your phone only (unless you send me your Xperia, which I guess you won't do :p)

You must try to isolate your problem:

Test the camera after a hard reset, it should work FINE as or everyone else, then start installing your CABs and tweaks one by one

POSSIBILITIES I am figuring out:

1- Your ROM is W4X.19 or W4X.23 ??? (.19 had damaged ActiveX drivers due to corrupted CAB compression inside the RAR)

2- Have you changed regional settings ???
The camera DLL is very sensitive (0409 country selection)

3- Third party backup app ??? (Imagine backing up your Windows XP to install them over Windows Vista, what would happen ???)

this new panel manager (R3A) is pretty faster than the previous (R2A) one !!
check if you have the correct ROM flashed (.23) because the new panel manager depends on ActiveX/Flash Lite
It is slow for the first time you open it ONLY, then on it flies !!

It's just that you are new to xda-devs and you stll have to learn RULE No. 1: read (and that means: read a lot !!) ;)

I know: this thread is more than 40 pages long, and we don't seem to have active moderators here in our beloved XPERIA subforums to chop-out the non-necessary posts, but I can assure you THIS IS A KNOWLEDGE PARADISE for those willing to read and read and read even more

Your answers:

1- Yes, add the customization pack, but the famous "honeycomb" is just a honeycomb-style item selector in start menu (see and compare the pics). If you don't like'em, most of the registry tricks inside the customization pack can be undone in the control panel

2- The ROM comes "as is", with no themes included, that's why I added a "WM6.5 THEMES SIX PACK" to post 2
Let me tell ya they are WORTH installing

3- X1i, X1a, SEX1, CR7... who cares ?? You can change your device name to whatever you want by editing modelname.txt in /windows/ (thanks for that one jack :D ah !! when I was a noob...) and your hardware will remain the same

I am using this rom for a couple of days. It's one of the best win-6.5 roms i have used.

But i do notice that my unit is becoming hotter the longer i use it. I didn't have that with the other roms.

Is that a known bug?

2- Try other SD card or use the proper RUU tool to flash from PC

2- Try other SD card or use the proper RUU tool to flash from PC

(I assume you have read the sticky threads tutorials and learned the flashing process, it is very easy and well explained)




Big problems often have simple solutions:

Stock SPL (secondary program loader) will not let you flash custom ROMs
You NEED to flash Hard-SPL first
My suggestion would be to ask for help in the Hard-SPL sticky thread
It is very easy (and harmless) once we understand how it is done

Anybody knows, how to stop the phone turning off during phone calls via registry? It was possible in TweakXperia 2.0, but that was only for R2A ..or is TweakXperia also working with R3A?

Yes it is. You have to edit file sym.0409.txt in windows folder. 0409 means english language.

Yes, that would be perfect, and maybe there are some new things in the R3AA (e.g. QuickGPS or such things if they are newer) and than with the original Xperia com-manager and everything would be perfect :D

Soft restart fixed it so thought nothing more of it, for now.

Hi, I haven't yet used a custom rom for my X1 but this one sounds so good that I'd like to try it. Just a couple questions

1. Will this work with german cell networks ?
2. Does this only flash the OS or is a radio included too ?
3. Will the autosetup only work with UK or US (whatever the source of the WM6.5 is) cell networks ? I installed an unbranded R3A a couple days ago (german version) and it actually asked me which german network I have and after selecting it it configured absolutely everything for me, better than I managed to do manually before ;)

Unfortunately not, it seems that it is handled by the system just like messaging display, so unless someone customised the notification I don't see it being improved.

That is to say, I havn't yet seen one, but that doesn't mean it isnt possible or available, I just don't know.

I have GPS working, but I have done a hardreset once already and updated the GPS coordinates using the QuickGPS.

Nice, I never noticed that cause I havn't used keylock before. Is there a way for it to auto keylock after a timeout insted of holding the End key?

I don't want to enable a passcode because it messes up and locks you out cause of a bug in 6.5

Think of it as upgrading from XP to Vista, some XP apps are not yet Vista-compatible
Don't forget you are using the LATEST WM6.5 ;)

1- Great to see you decided to flash, don't be affraid, just follow the steps and nothing will harm your phone

2- This ROM is meant to be as SONY stock as possible, thus, no third-party incoming call apps included. As alias_neo said, you will see things the same way you saw them when you first turned on your phone, but over WM6.5

3- There are some CAB installers out there to get a nice fullscreen incoming call notification

Hehe, guess keeping a backup of my favourite installs caused me to bypass the thought that it wasnt made for this OS.

I could possibly give some help in a few days, I got exams for the next few days then a couple of social things but I'm sure I'll have some free time at some point, I could possibly do the ALUM volume control porting myself. But I can't begin to think about it or it will take my attention from my important stuff.

I always say: big problems often have simple solutions
1- double-check your SD card (is there??, can you write/read ?? shows in Explorer ??)
2- Click the tool button, then the dented wheel, then upper left cam+video, then choose "save to"... and choose "Memory card"

You can have photo, music and Kovsimg.nbh on your SD ;)

I've encountered a bug. It's nothing serious but something annoying ^^

When i'm reading a message with the hw keyboard out, then clicking "ok" to get back to the inbox, the inbox is displayed in wrong size. It's displayed with the with of the screen in standing mode. Not in the wide mode with hw keyboard out. Rest of the screen is black. It works though, I can click the text and so on. But it annoys me. :P If you don't understand what I mean I can post a screenshot tonight as I'm at work atm.

Otherwise, I love this rom :)

Oh and add the Quick Gps solution for other regions that Unique posted on the first page :) It works for me (Swedish region)

In the register: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\QUICKGPS
Change the Dword 'Auto' from 0 to 1.
Reset the phone and it works!

The WM6.5 Final was from a Tech News site who copied it from the WM6.5 Teams Blog. Looked legit and fits the timeframe I guess. Hopefully it gets to us soon so you can get cooking :D

PS: other cookers rush to release a new ROM everytime a new BETA leak appears, so you finish with a bunch of ROMs from 21001 to 21232... and bugs are not necessarily solved in the new leaks, but they have their own issues too, so you finish bugged and bugged and flashing and flashing

Despite the couple of "I-can-live-with-it" beatles described in previous posts, I found myself this release to be pretty stable so far (near-2 months using it), so I am waiting for a FINAL WM6.5 to cook SEX1 version 2

Also, I don't consider myself as a "master chef" as other users, no: If you all remember how this all started, I just shared my personal ROM to the forum
