Isnt thisthe same version that I have tested? I got the correct Pin input screen, the grey xperia one.
This version was very fastin responseand everything. The only thing I was missing was commanager on the right soft-key on the titanium clockpanel. ;-)

yea - noticed this too - only happens in like internet explorer and opera - really strange - i noticed this in another rom earlier which i used - so maybe it is a 6.5 thing?

A bug in new builds WM6.5, it was first reported in build 21806. Haven't seen a fix yet.

This is a known bug from the wm6.5 and Xperia phone pad combo. Also no fix yet:(

You only need to Hard SPL once per phone. Just need to put the file on to you memory card like before.

The available version (from Da_G) was VGA, so I refilled them mostly with the "official" Microsoft SDK emu ones 21234

Because Da_G is DA MAN :D (and conflipper @ ppcgeek), and both have VGA devices... :(

I had it perfectly working on an older build of this, IIRC the last build before the new R3.55 version, and suddenly it quits working. When I apply an update, it shows a blank now for all of the "slides" and shows things like "X" in place of the weather icon and blank spaces for the future forecast dates. I installed the SDKCerts and have tried a reinstall and still get the same issue. Any reason why this may have suddenly failed?

Aligned screen...pressed skip on next two requests....set time and date.
Then the word "complete" showed up. At the bottom of this screen it usually says tap screen to begin using your device. But only the top of the screen with the word "complete" showed up. The bottom of the screen was black.
I could shut the device off using the normal hold power button in and hit yes when prompted.
Flashed HardSPL prior to flash and hard reset after flash, still no success.
Any suggestions?

had the same issue. reset your device, plug in power, do the setup and wait.
tap the screen once in a while so the backlight doesn't go off.

gtrab - i downloaded it yesterday and flashed for the first time. It works pretty neat up to now - thanks for your endless work (I'm wondering when you sleep;) ). Only thing I found out is when writing SMS for example, if I press space and continue writing I get an underscore and about two or three characters later only a space. Same happens with comma, semicolon, etc.

Keyboard obviously isn't in Swiss German too, but this I can handle :cool:

Hi. I think that this build 21812 have no fluent scrolling like in previous build 21500 [1.01.W4X.23 ROM]. For example in 21500, in TotalCommander, when you scroll the list of files, its fluently scrolling and slowly stops. In 21812, list of files is scrolling to its end without stopping and this isn't fluent at all, like in WM6.1. You have to tap on it if you want to stop it. I have attached two examples (videos). I also very sory for my bad english;)

Only thing I found out is when writing SMS for example, if I press space and continue writing I get an underscore and about two or three characters later only a space. Same happens with comma, semicolon, etc.

Keyboard obviously isn't in Swiss German too, but this I can handle :cool:

You can use his german rom guess the keyboard will be in german there;)

sorry for asking a dumb question. but how do you flash?. I used hardspl and it wouldn't install, keeps telling me to recover. i can't do the sd method either because i can't format my 4gig card. someone plz help me. i still have wm6.1, is this rom for upgrade to 6.5?

Just hard spl your phone(take a look in the stickies for a how to) after that you can flash your rom with the sd method or just from your computer via usb

Looks very good and is fast. But the same typing problem with random spaces as specified above. Opera shuts down in the web, wap works fine. Dont know the battery charge level. very weak radio (t-mobile USA) Will be back for an improved version. thank you!

I flashed the barebone version. Worked excellent. However, one small bug which was not there previously. I installed the Cvolume plugin and since then I cannot change my ringone. I mean I can change it but when the phone rings it reverts back to Windows ringtone.

Tried uninstalling the plugin, Stil the phone will revert to the original windows ringone even though i change it to my own ringtone.

Any ideas what may be wrong?

Ahh, So its happening with others too. However, I think the reason it goes back to the same ringone no matter which you change, has got to do with a registry value. Do you think renaming the wanted ringtone to this default ringtone's name and replacing it will do the trick? if not I would try a hard reset. Too bad cuz everyhting else for me works like a charm. Youtube, panels, videos, camera, mms. Its annoying if i have to hard reset only for a ringtone.

Got it to work. Disabled windows default from Settings -- Today.

Change the ringtone. Restart phone and enable windows default.

Now works.

-shutter button activates camera.
-shutter button isn't able to focus or capture.
-picture can still be taken by clicking the joystick.

Check what are your focus settings....is it touch or auto or macro.

Thanks for the tips - enabling (instead of disabling) worked out. And also I found out that german and swiss german keyboard must be the same :) - also works fine.

I have got to say that ive never been as exceited about a 6.5 rom as i am now about the xpert edition of this vertion. When will it be avalable for download?

Ive read through a good few pages of posts both at the end and the beginning of this thread and havnt seen anything yet, is there any ruff idea when we can sample this piece of work?

Also, ide like to take the chance to thank the owner of this thread for his tutorial on cooking, its hard but you have explainned it in such a way that i can understand it. I hope to cook my own 6.1 rom soon and hope it ends up looking as good as some (why do so many twerps feel its ok to "flame" the chefs, its very hard work and i apreceate the efforts that all devs make).
Right, im off, i look forward to hering when and where i can get my claws on the xpert edition of this rom.

Hmm. Works well for me. Did you instal the auto flash plugin of the unreleased xperia stock rom?

Have you used a key remapper software lately? Try undoing the above two things. I am using x1i and PURE wm 6.5 rom. everything works.

well i had the same problem and enable auto correct DOES solve it only till a soft reset. Then auto correct is still checked only the same problem occurs. I resolve this by unchecking autocorrect then checking it again. I hope there's a permanent fix for this, otherwise i'll have to revert back to the previous rom.

A question, which task manager did Gtrab use in his previous rom? That one rocked, but is not included in this one, any chance i can download it separately?

It's a bug in windows mobile 6.5 you can't do anything about it, correct me if i'm wrong

FOUND THE FIX FOR THE SLOW-MESSED UP KEYBOARD TYPING ISSUE:

SYS\Shell -> replace compime.dll folder with a previous build one

I have tested compime.dll from build 21500 and TYPING IS ABSOLUTELY OK NOW

Well been running this rom for 2 days.

here's my comparison with the previous build:

Previous : 1.01.W4X.23

+ No keyboard issues
+ Better touch response with scrolling
+ Beta r3 panel (i know this will be included in the xpert version)
+ Overall speed
+ task manager (what is it's name?)


- Battery life was too poor for me (1 day without doing anything)
- Panel's hang for first 5 seconds after pressing the panel button


New: OS 21812 - Pure version

+ Battery life is much better
+ Overall SE themes and lock screen
+ Overall speed is better
+ Standard windows alarm works. (after installing g-alarm windows alarm bug etc.)
+ Overall stability is better, still hasn't crashed on me.

Ide like to throw in my 50p worth of views over the IPhone / Ipod if i may.

So, to start with, Its first and formost a fasion accessorie, it was designed with looks in mind, not audio quality and this does show.
I'm sick of listening to compleate idots who dont know there ass hole from there ear hole, telling me, Oh my i pod is great, they have the best sound quality!!!!!!STOP THERE PLEASE!!!!!! Its crap, i have used many mp3 players and have for a long time been aware of the lack of power and clarity from the Ipod/iphone. There are no gold plated connectors because its headphones as stock have week diaphames that are not able to produce a solid, deep sound that has punch.

Example, Take your IPod with its gay, white & embassingly distinctive headphones and put the device to its max volume and listen to a track that has lots of sharpe treble and deep, punching bass lines (preferably at 320kbps). You will notice that while there is no distortion there is a noticable drop in detail of the sound produced. Ok I hear you all say, its crap head phones, not really, take a paire of shure or bose headphones and listen to the track again, with the sure headphones there is a sizable drop in volume and no punch to the music. Bose headphones are a slight improvement but this is due to the way the headphone helps remove background noise.

Now, take the same mp3 and headphones and use it on a sony walkman, lets say the A826, listen to the track again and you will notice there is more depth to the bass, the treble is still sharpe but also doesnt fade and loose its volume when bass lines come in.

This is because the IPod simply doesnt produce enough power nor does the lack of gold plated connectors help when we listen for the depth in the music. At Hi bitrates, gold plated connectors to allow for the frequency to be passed to the earphones without loss of definition.

In short, people buy the ipod because they are told its the dogs bolloxs but its not, its the equivelent to D&G sun glasses, its an expensive fassion accessorie thats quality is poor (and probably made by a 5 year old girl in china), where as the sony for example is a paire of Oaklys, That have a solid glass lense that withstand a Ball baring being fired at it at speeds exceeding 130mph without cracking for a cost of £150 (try do that with your over sized designer D&G sunnys and see "or not see" what happens to your eyes) that were only made popular by victoria becham who wanted something that would hide her nasty bags that are under her eyes after a night out on the town.

My Point is this, take the iphone apart by its abilitys and remove the phone part.
Its a mp3 player
its a platform for applications that you have to pay for
its not had the ability to use bluetooth headphones until the 3Gs (somthing most phones have been able to do for over 3 years)
copy and paste wasnt an option till now
it couldnt be used as a modem for broadband access speeds until the 3Gs editon (my vario II from T-mobile back 2 years ago could do that and this was before the Iphone was even concived!)
I will give it its due by saying its smooth in its menu system (but then again, its not hard to do that when u only have to render a 480x320 screen!) Remember that X1i is 800x480 res screen and ill bet my left nut that if you were to reduce the size of the screens res or give it proper support for the ati imagin chip thats doing nothing for the most part it would be just as smooth if not smoother.
Also, please explain to me why they have opted for the OLED screen that has great scope for higher screen res and still stayed at 480x320 (read the above and you might work that out).

All in all,

Its not all its cracked up to be unless ur a fassion obsessed idot who believes Iphones and pods are the best thing since sliced bread.

People, if you want music, go look at sonys new x series player, thats a good quality device, pricey at the moment but that will change in not too long. :) Its also compatible with apples I tunes (i cant complain about that as the removed the DRM and its easy to use and will encode a video for the device so as they say, fare is fare).

Sorry for the rant but its not an overly impressive feat of technologie, its first encarnation was based on GPRS for goodness sake, at the time it was still 2 generations behind the technologies avalable at the time K800 had bluetooth mp3 and HSDPA (3G).

Seiously.......The X1 is head and sholders above the Iphone....even now with the 3Gs release.

Hiya been tryin out this rom (pure) for a week or so, not as stable as previous version, more bettles than before

symptoms
- hang/crush more often than da previous one eg phone sometimes stop breathing when sliding keyboard
- after customizing ringtone, it works in da beginning, then goes bak winmo default tone
- messaging screen still appear at home screen w/o any reason
- half of the boot screens gone when landscape
- sometimes there are color burn on da se panel (da one wif a big analog clock)

Hopefully these will be fix in da nxt release

Take ur time, SE wouldnt release official 6.5 till sep, so waiting for urs piece of cake =)

wow, what a personal review :) I liked it... actually I thought the same way, as somebody said for nokia as well, now I say Apple produce devices for massive ppl, they really don't give a sh*t about power customers. i dun normally talk this much in forum but since i got da time to kill, hmm.... y not

seriously is it just me thats sick of phrase "iphone killer"?

iphone is good allrite, no one can deny that the software is much much stable than the xperia coz of the screwy winmo. there are no visible lags in an iphone if u compare it wif the xperia (the lagginess of switching the panels from portrait to landscape or vice versa really pisses me off). From here u can see no matter how powerful da phones hardware is, once the software is a total loser, da phones a loser.

But tt doesnt mean iphone is a choice for everyone, really depends on ur needs. I dun choose an iphone bcoz i dun like their marketting scheme(no mms and customizing ringtone before OS 3.0) . Also xperia looks way better than iphone if u ask me. But ultimately ive got an ipod touch already :D

So ppl make ur own decision, if u make da wrong one, deal wif it, learn ur lesson and research more in da future, look for help (xperia is a screwy, bt at least we got some genious provinding underground supports), if u got da cash get another fone.

SYS\shell refers to the kitchen, not the xperia itself.

SYS\Shell\compime.dll is a map in the kitchen. So this fix is ment for those who are cooking a ROM with the keyboard bug.

Thanks for earlier help. Got the Pure version working on my X1 now. Oh, and I am a user, not a "cook".

A couple of problems with Pure:

The Growing Panel is just a blank white screen. Anyone else found this? Is the Growing Panel available as a .CAB download?

Also, new version is missing new Comm Manager, which I like. Is that on a .CAB? (I know it is to be in the XTREM, but I syill want Suduki, etc, so will stay with Pure).

Finally, Xperia Tweak does not work with Pure. This is a shame, as I like to boot up in SPB Mobile Shell. Any thoughts here?

Windows Mobile 6.5 looks very nice, but obviously there are still some bugs to work out. I had intermitant problems like, freezing, calls not making noise, wierd graphic issues, etc.

just tried both roms. (I beleive a user named mardief or so cooked the german one??) Thanks to the cookers for doing this!

I first tried the german version but had two main issues:

- overall performance
- can't get 3G connection with my provider (A1 mobilkom austria)

Now I just installed the german version and realized:

- much better performance
- Instantly got a 3G connection via autoconfig with my provider

Hope this feedback helps you?! I'll follow this thread to see if there are any updates on the german version.

It's the knowledge the Xpert ROM is upon us, but still some insecurity about the e.t.a. (in which i mean: Exact Time of Arival) that makes us as desirous as we all are about the SEX1 SEXpert SEXtreme.

I find myself searching uot this thread over and over again, in the hope it's finally doen. Did not expact that from myself. And it got me thinking.

The desirious feeling could be taken away by gtrab if he posts anything about an eta. It could be an prognoses, but then I think gtrab himself does not know when it will be finished. I've been finishing my collegethesis myself these few nights and in het end the most problems arise. As we say in Dutch: "the last pieces of lead way the heaviest". It is litarly translated and means: in fifishing something the ending always takes more time and effort the was anticipated. So gtrab is wise not to tell us when he thinks he will be finished.
The other option is that he wil notify us about his progress, which he does, but also on the problems he is working on. So we know not to expact the ROM any time soon. Or he could just say it won't come for now. But since he allready did, that would be dificult, because that the desiriuos feeling will change in to disapiontment. So gtrab is in a tough spot, not to speak of the toughness of cooking the ROM itself.

What I mean to say is that becaus I am so anxious for the arival of the Xpert ROM, I am confronted with disapointing feelings becaus the ROM has not been finished jet. BUT than again the exitement of the idea of its arival makes me jump up and down like is kid whom is getting a piece of candy.

So in the and all the time gtrab is using to finishing the great product, the party will get bigger for the time it will be there.

There is only one bug when using your fonts on this ROM, it looks great on Today screen except the clock, it is correct when minutes are containing one number 1 but showing three dots on any other combination. Also, it looks awful on all the other places:) I know it is completely unrelated to the rom (which is great!) but I just wanted to share. Hope you could do something about it.

You are the best. I never thought flashing would be this good. Searched the entire forum before first flshing. And i put trust in your ROM and man does it rock. Downloaded the upgrade one. Aboslutely bug free. Only a glitch of ringtone silent which is probably WM 6.5 bug. ROM is stable and working flawlessly. Can you advise how to change the theme font on titanium? Does it change with system font changing.
Now downloading Barebone. Cant wait to flash.

You BB rom is very fast, my first look is the the rom is fast no problem as far, it is stable no resets or lacks

Gtrab, you're a star! I am on bb rom for a day now. I have never had a better rom. It works perfectly. Like the bb idea very much because you can customize the phone exactly the way you want it yourself!

Never tried 3.55, but I can tell you the latest is fast and stable so far. I am using it for 1 day and zero errors so far!

so I'm back!

BB is justifying its name, that's for sure! Speed is awsome! I must admit, one thing is annoying me and I just wasted an hour to no avail. I can not set up a 3G connection. Yes, I admit it, I do not know how. What happened with automatic setting? part of SE Comm manager? Can you help?

Also power management shortcut is not functioning, same like in PURE version. Otherwise, excellent ROM so far:) Keep up the good work!
