deviated myself to a itje's 6.1+manila rom just to find ICS not working and the overall slowness (partially fixed via updated drivers).
flashed back to R3AA010 Generic_UK just to find how bad are stock roms and just how much time is needed to get them as I want.
now, back to your rom. the goodness of the lite Xperia Stock, the lovely WM6.5 (less buggy and more useful than 6.1) and the overall speed of your customizations.
thanks for your work! :D
btw, what's the mistery experimental package? tell us!! xD
so I'm back!
BB is justifying its name, that's for sure! Speed is awsome! I must admit, one thing is annoying me and I just wasted an hour to no avail. I can not set up a 3G connection. Yes, I admit it, I do not know how. What happened with automatic setting? part of SE Comm manager? Can you help?
Also power management shortcut is not functioning, same like in PURE version. Otherwise, excellent ROM so far:) Keep up the good work!
I used this:
http://rapidshare.com/files/247111399/ConnectionSetup_v1.0.31247.2.cab
my power icon is working, remember to do the mandatory hardreset after flashing.

Well the ROM is great. Have only one very small problem. My iGo is not full screen anymore. I never had any problems with it on any other ROM. Is there something I can do to solve this problem. :confused:

well, iGO is a mess, did you touch any config files? I always go back to tomtom/garmin as they aren't a pain to configure.
loving this new rom, it actually fly's!

No, I didn't touch any config. And in iGo you can't do much of configuration. Well otherwise I'm goin back to good old TomTom 'cause I really like the ROM.

Well, that was quick! And bullseye! Thanks!
I am wondering about the package too, must be something with the graphics. It moves sooo smooth:)
P.S> I was talking about the battery icon on today screen, it does not activate power management options.
I did the hard reset, thanks.

what you mention it's a known bug of windows mobile 6.5 :)

well then... I am speechless, this is work of art! I wouldn't exaggerate when I would say that SE and M$ have something to learn from you, gtrab.
Just to fill you in, I have exchanged my beloved, two week old C905 for a new X1, with cash addon of course. I was using X1 for two days and been wondering if I have made a mistake. No hw acceleration for any player except for WMPM, overall slugishness and admittedly, non-finger friendly WM6.1. (Like a miniature PC:))
So it was a doubtful time for me and I was a bit sad to not have my camera phone (excellent photos, btw)... `
But you man, you drove any doubt over a cliff driving in 6th gear with this ROM.. I have the best phone ever! It will be hard for you to raise the benchmark, I believe...
ah! I though you where mentioning th power icon in the settings menu.

oh.. ok, my bad... so no bugs then... hehe

got a small problem I didn't had with previous roms.
as soon as I enabled japanese suport (done by adding key to replace unknown chars from tahoma with the ones of meiro and setting font path to \windows\fonts) all fonts switched to a Sony Ericsson style one.
easy fix anyways, just copying all ttf files from \windows to \windows\fonts solved it.
just comenting because this wasn't happening with previous builds :D

Hi,
I can't copy the compime.dll from the windows folder to anywhere else to use in the 6.5 ROM. I also can't beam it, it won't show up. So I don't know how I can get a copy of it for later.

did you try with total commander?

21st June 2009, 11:33 PM
Yep. It's the only program I have which shows the file. Everytime I try to copy it to another folder it asks me if I want to overwrite the same file in that folder (even though it shows the folder as empty in TC), but when I do so the folder remains empty. This is the case no matter what folder I try. When I try send via bluetooth nothing happens on the laptop, but it works just fine with other files. Strange.

strange, instead of PURE why don't you try BAREBONE as it has the kb fixed?
as a previous user of the PURE versions I actually like a bit more the BB one :)
still keeps de Xperia stock feeling ^^
edit.
finished configuration. tested a bit more.
I'm reallt impressed with video performance. tried playing a pair of videos I converted for test that on every rom I tested dropped lots of frames and sound skyped but with this rom they are both fluid and sound perfect. I'm playing using the Media Panel :D

New BAREBONE 21815 COMING TONITE
Solving the 21815 gray-background issue was a real pain in the @$$ until I realyzed that was not a bug: Microoft changed their themes tempalte layout from this build on !!!
THIS IS A NEW, UNIQUE BUILD, NO HYBRID WVGA FILES BUT THE REAL NEW MS 218xx THEMES AND PROVXMLS WORKING WITHOUT THE "GRAY BACKGROUND" compatibility issue with previous WM6.5 builds
Will start uploading right away...

Thanks all for your help ZeusII :)
I've now installed the BB version and it's great. Really awesome job porting WM6.5 Gtrab. Nice one! I just wanted to report the following issues (may or may not be bugs or whatever):
- When switching from landscape to portrait, the softkeys sometimes stay at landscape height rather than going back to the bottom of the screen (portrait height)
- Generally ok, but the ROM can be rather slow in some apps (e.g. in messaging, particularly when recieving messages, or when loading thumbnails in the picture viewer)
- Windows Media Player no longer seems to support hardware acceleration :'(
Many thanks for your work.

Well I'm able to get to the tricolour screen, so I should be able to use the microSD method, if I can somehow get past the 'No Image Found!' notification problem (I've tried following instructions meticulously). Will see what happens. I hadn't installed anything strange to the ROM though, I don't know why it wouldn't start up.

my x1 working fine right now, did you install something? I'd avise to flash 6.5 again and try without aditional apps.

Hi ppl,
I just installed BB 3.57 but now my phone can't connect to the 3G vodafone live server.
I manually re-entered all the settings (adress, port and user) but it wouldn't help:(
Then upgraded the radio from 1.11.25.76 to 1.14.25.55 But this wouldn't help either.
After flashing back to PURE 3.55 and using automatic conn. settings my internet was working perfect again.
Does anyone recognise the problem or knows how to get 3G working with BB 3.57 on my phone?
Thnx in advance!

@ZeusII:
Well I was reinstalling all the apps I use regularly. Many require soft resets after installs, so I had frequently booted the phone. The problem of not starting up came after installing HTC apps (volume control, calculator, keyboard and the Topaz comm manager). All seemed to work fine. Then I switched the phone off and after that it wouldn't load up. Wierd. Haha I agree with you, after that preview I can't wait to get back on WM6.5 :D

I think it would be nice if you could try installing those apps, one by one and rebooting to see if we can find which one is causing the problem or if it's unable to reproduce again.
calculator isn't as I got that myself.
as for keyboard, I use FingerKeyboard2 as it doesn't mes the àü key.

Hello guys, I need your help, I just upgraded my Sony Ericsson X1:
to Release Date: 14 JUN 09
Custom Version: SEX1-R3.55_PURE
Description: Pure Windows Mobile 6.5 OS/firmware ROM UPGRADE for the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1
Target: for general users who want a ZERO-CUSTOMIZATIONS WM6.5 upgrade for the XPERIA X1
It works great and runs beautifully, the only problem I am experiencing with it, is my ringtone. when I switch the phone off then on, my ringtone works, when I call my phone it rings, then after sometime, it stops working, when I call my phone, its just silent, it does not vibrate or ring any sound out. it is just silent.
when I go to the phone settings, where you can select your ringtone and choose whether you want vibrate and ring etc. its says the ringtone does not exist or the file has been corrupted, no matter what sound I choose, it gives me the same message. but when I switch off and on, it works again.
I'll really appreciate any advice, help, suggestion or opinion.
Thank You Very Much.

I've been using some other 21812 ROMs but yours got some new Comm Manager, is the original or you made it?
That's the "stock" WinMo Comm Manager, not new for WM6.5 (was present in some WM6.1 phones too) but improved on WM6.5
Since this is a taste of WM6.5 I decided to include it
Look how it changes the colours when you change the theme (you can add the 6 themes pack located & post 2)
.
hello everyone.i got this strange problem,cant do a hardreset by press the two silver button and the powerbutton. can anyone help?
1- turn phone OFF
2- HOLD both softkeys
3- while holding those 2 keys, PRESS the power button (press and release, but KEEP holding the 2 silver buttons)
There you are

I added the stock WinMo 6.5 auto connection setup to this version, ommitting the original XPERIA one
you can launch WM6.5's auto connectin setup in \windows\ADC.exe

I guess yes...

great work, there's really some nice apps from htc, youtube is one of the bests out there although it's still a bit choppy on high quality (no probs with fast download setting).

Well, I just have to wait for someone to upload it on some other place. :(
@ZeusII, aren't these ati drivers already installed on Xperia? Previously I was looking for them but all I have found is for some older HTC devices. Going thru registry and windows revealed that there are drivers installed. Those are from some other device and/or modified?
I have installed OpenVG drivers from Neo on PURE and it gained some improvement.
EDIT: I see driver is from Diamond. Is it better?

Can you upload those CABs from post 2 (HTC cabs that you've add today) somewhere not megaupload cause they are filtered in my fxxxing country. THANKS
and also something else, I'm using Radio 1.14.25.55, I've checked the rilphone.dll in your ROM and the the one been uploaded in that RADIO thread and I see they are different, do you use the rilphone.dll from R3A which is older? and what RADIO do you use by yourself, and do yourself update the rilphone.dll?

Just installed the PURE Rom and it's working good, but I'm a bit disappointed; Having watched some Youtube-videos of Windows Mobile 6.5 I thought the Contact-list would be updated with smooth fingerfriendly scrolling and updated looks but this was just the same as the stock ROM. Is that because the contact list i part of Sony Ericssons software and was installed in the Auto Config the phone ran when I first booted it or is the new contactlist just a concept not available yet? :)
Also, I'm wondering if it's possible to remap the X Panel-key as a kind of Start Button launching the Start menu? Did some googling and found the registrypath for binding the right and left key, and it it would be possible to add a new folder in there with X Panel-button's hexadecimal value I think it would be quite easy to make it open the menu. The other option is to enter the Panel Manager's registrypath and changing the path to Panel Manager.exe to something else.. If it was just possible to change that to some command launching the start menu I bet that's work fine too :)
Otherwise a great job, just have to get a nicer contact list and a better Caller ID (possible by installing the HTC-dialer if that works in this release) and everything is splendid :D

well, please look again, the contact list itself is updated from wm6.1. rows are bigger (just like popup menus), kinetic scrolling is there... I see no problems at all to use it without stylus.

What I do is remap the two silver keys (normally asigned as softkeys) as by default I find them useless as what I do pressing those two is the same as presing the lower softkey area of the screen.

caller id? actually the new caller ID is nice (photo, name and to sliders, one to answer and one to ignore) but it only works when screen is locked, when not, it shows a default notification with the photo of the contact (here is where some improvement is needed :D)

Well yeah now when you mentioned it it is larger and a bit better looking, but still not that smooth scrolling with bounce-back ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YP9PQ5iWFzM , look at 4:20 and you'll se what I mean), but I guess we'll se improvements in that lateron since it obviously will be a standard WM6.5 feature :)
And yes that's what I just did, left key = Start Menu. Works nice, but would be nicer using the X-panel key since I never use that one :)
And yes, just tried that one out and looked fantastic :D The only thing missing now is Auto Key-lock. Will try the application Auto Lock which can turk the keylock on automatically, not as S2U2 but the real allready built-in keylock. Hope it works, otherwise I'll only use the power-button as keylock and that way miss out on the absolutely awesome keylock-screen :)

Touch HD's screen is a bit bigger too. Compared to Xperia. It is smoother though, I agree.

about the lock, you can activate it by keeping pressed the call end a few seconds. fast and easy.

Yeah, completely different contactlist. As you can see there's bounceback when moving to the top or bottom (you can scroll "above" or "below" those contacts and it bounces back) which the one in this ROM hasn't got. Not complaining, just mentioning that it's missing, bet we'll see it later :)
Tried the Auto Lock ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=386451 ) and it worked fine, although since it locks after device wakeup you won't get that nice caller ID-screen unless you've woken it up once (checked the clock or something) or locked it before putting it in standby. Well I bet we'll se some kind of awesome autolock built-in lateron, I mean how can one possibly ignore such a feature? (Not speaking to gtrab now but to Microsoft ;) ).

I just said the screen on HD is much bigger than on X1, also bigger than iPhone's so it might give you a feel that contacts are bigger but it is actually the same, and on different screen size,. On X1 is just not that smooth. (notice how far apart are the icons on HD's screen)

Yeah, I would like it too, like countdown; actually, like on any other SE phone:) But it is as easy just to press longer the end call button. Thanks Zeus, didn't know that one. (I have just now noticed that there is a small icon hehe)

Well, the Touch HD has the same resolution as the Xperia which means the graphics should look exactly the same. The difference is that the contactlist in this ROM scrolls in bigger "steps" while the one in the Youtube-video scrolls pixel-by-pixel, and has bounceback which the Xperia completely lacks (has nothing to do with the display). We'll just have to wait and see for newer builds :)
And yes, but the Auto-lock program can do that. It can also ignore autolock when running certain programs (such as Coreplayer). The problem for me is just that I'm used to the power-button as keylock, so now I want to use that too but then the auto-lock won't count the time and therefore not work. Lock on wakeup is possible but won't give me the nice Caller ID. The proper solution would be having the lock-screen caller ID all the time, hope Microsoft will fix that :)

Same resolution, bigger screen. Probably why it looks bigger. ANywhoo.. Doesn't matter, it's off-topic.
BAck to the rom, I have installed TitaniumWeather optimized by gtrab himself, and on PURE it was working flawlessly, but on BB it doesn't show icons only crosses, with fix applied and updating working with no problem at all.

23 jun 09: Here is the MISTERY SURPRISE included inside my newer ROMs (R3.57 and up) UNVEILED:
I prepared a COMPATIBILITY PACK for HTC APPS, and it's cooked inside the inner guts of my new ROMs, so they can keep being PURE XPERIA, but in the mean time 100% compatible with (almost) any Blackstone, Rhodium or Topaz apps/CABs !!! :cool:
Wow great... I thought of exactly this Idea for 2 Days now and BAAAMMMM
There it is :)
Sounds great? Can you tell us what Files are inside your Pack?
I'm not familiar with Manila and other HTC Applications but i would like to use some finger friendly ones in my rom without replacing all the kovsky files :)
Would be great if you can share the file names you included

Thanks for all the time you are spending on all these projects and sharing them with us, your ROM is great.
I rally don't care and don't know which radio version I am down on now because my operator is sooo damn good that I always get full signal bars, even with a prototype radio :D
One day I hex-edited a word document to x300 and then renamed it to kovsimg.nbh, then I flashed it and it picked my provider's powerful signal :p (kidding...)
I guess I am using 1.11.xx in one phone and 1.12.xx in the other one, will check later

yes you can ;)
(just check if your in-XIP compression dll is capable of handling both, or it will get stuck at first boot because it will not be able to decompress the nbh contents)
GUYS PLEASE TEST: IT IS JUST MY SUBJECTIVE IMPRESSION THAT LZX-COOKED ROMS ARE SLOWER THAN XPR-COOKED ROMS, BUT I CAN NOT SAY FOR SURE
This is a size - memory comparative of my new R3.60 Bare ROMs:
SIZE
XPR ROM size: 97,350 MB nbh - 76,641 MB inside a RAR
LZX ROM size: 83,443 MB nbh - 75,386 MB inside a RAR
R3.60 FIGURES
Storage - Program
XPR
361.14 - 206.50
22.96 - 53.15
338.18 - 153.35 (26%)
LZX
374.22 - 206.50

Hi gtrab,
I installed your SEX1 Comm Manager .cab on my Xperia, running r3.55 PURE and there is now an issue with SPB Panel.
On SPB, Settings, System (and, I think, Personal) the Icons are now mixed up from the titles, some have no Icon at all. Quite a mess really, but only on SPB Panel (Icons are wrong, titles are correct).
As SPB Panel is cooked in PURE ROM, I can't do a re-install. Any ideas please?
I really liked your Comm Manager with your 1001.W4X.23 - is that not available as a stand-alone .cab?
Finally, has no-one beaten SPB to doing a X1 Panel for the new SPB???
Thanks,

" I dont normally drink beer, but when i do its Dos Equis.... Stay Thirsty my Friends"- The Most Interesting Man In The World.
XPR has lesser compression ratio, thus, ROM images are bigger and take more SPACE in storage memory (around 10% )
BUT, since LZX uses a more complicated compression algorythm to achieve better compression (smaller fingerprint - occupied storage mem), it also takes more time and processing power to "decompress" files in real time (duing normal life usage)
No mistery: /WINDOWS/ FILES ARE COMPRESSED, are "not" really "there" @ widnows folder, but in the Read Only Memory (ROM)
That's why you can hard-reset the phone in 2 seconds, because the "original image" is untouched in the ROM
Even when a file is replaced in \windows\, it is not really replaced in the ROM, only in the RAM
.
Impressive as usual. its quite fast as promised. Panel Manager and all panels are missing. not a problem since available on other threads. But then i installed the Xperia Panels and they dont show up in the panel manager.
One little bug though, in the 'Sounds & Notifications' option. the ringtone cannot be changed. whatever you choose when you press 'OK' it refreshes and then select the sound 'Ring01-WindowsP...'.
am using [SEX1 R3.60 "Godspeed BareBone" version / Build 21815 / Real WM6.5 AKU / XPR compression] by the way.

Panels are supposed to be there

I've loaded up the Barebones 3.60 XPR but I can't get the Facebook panel to work. Given the probs mentioned below I though I'd uninstall the SEX1 Comm Manager and reinatll the Facebook Panel but it still doesn't work. I also loaded the Media Xperience Panel and it works fine.
Other than the Facebook panel everything else seems to work great. Thanks Gtrab.
Hi gtrab,
I installed your SEX1 Comm Manager .cab on my Xperia, running r3.55 PURE and there is now an issue with SPB Panel.
Thanks,
Aerovision

I love the barebone packs, coz I like it a lot to have a very fast device, and don't mind having only the essentials.
But there's one essential program that I miss a lot and that's OUTLOOK !
On all the barebone packs when I try to sync with a PC, it says "Outlook not installed on phone". I tried to download it, but it gives me the whole MS office pack and says "You already have a newer version installed". :( :confused:
Outlook and sync are veery important to me, so can someone pleeese poste a outlook cab, that, I'll be able to install.

Just creat a sys.txt like this :
[interface]
resolution_dir="480_800"
vga=0
wide=1
[rawdisplay]
driver="GDI"
class="portrait"
highres=0
screen_x=480
screen_y=800
And igo work perfectly in portrait mode.
For landscape :
[interface]
resolution_dir="800_480"
vga=0
wide=1
[rawdisplay]
driver="GDI"
class="landscape"
highres=0
screen_x=800
screen_y=480
Thanks mate.. that worked. Just wondering... is there a way to get both modes working? With the previous rom I had (itje's TF3D) it used to work with out the sys.txt file and I could switch between the two.
Also for some reason I get a big red cross when I used Showaco TitaniumWeather_v4.2. Anyone know why this could be?

Hey gtrab, getting REALLY excited about flashing your 3.60 BB 6.5 ROM. I can't wait for the few small issues to be fixed so I can finally run a lite, stable, 6.5 ROM for good on my X1.
How can I install outlook?
Is it true that Outlook is NOT installed on the BB version of your ROM? I find this hard to believe as poutlook.exe and the messaging app are core components of WM. Also, I think slayvan was the only user to report this issue.
ONE FINAL Q: Is this 6.5 ROM based on the "final" 6.5 core that MS has released? I understand that it's always updated, but it would be nice to know that 3.60 BB is based on a FINAL 6.5 ROM.
As much insight about my 3 questions above would be greatly appreciated. You have given sooo much to the SEX1 community, and I have no doubt that this BB ROM will be killer! It has everything I want in a ROM...no TF3D/media garbage/etc.
I just hope the battery life is good, then I'll definitely be buying you a beer or two once I've flashed.
OH, sorry 1 more Q...I have not HardSPL'ed my X1 yet, and I can't get it to connect to WMDC/ActiveSync via USB cable. Bluetooth DOES work however, and I'm wondering if it's safe to perform the HardSPL flash via Bluetooth. I guess if that's not viable, then I'll have to find another PC that I can ActiveSync to (just with "connect to device" and not "Synchronize data").
Thanks in advance for your help (and/or anyone else who can comment on the above)!!

No, when cooking unmodified R3A with unmodified wm6.5 build, the bug is there too.
And it's a very annoying bug, when changing Volume from On to Vibrate and than change it back it's not changed. So your phone will only vibrate on incoming call. Trying to change it from settings and your phone will not vibrate anymore and not ring.
@gtrab
21820 has ring tones change bug too, it isn't caused by real AKU. Because ported kernel gives the same bug.
ps ervius posted a new version of his visual kitchen with support for date on new kernel, so you can change date/buildno from XIPPorterEx like with old kernel. (I asked him nicely and he worked his magic:D:D:D)

Hi gtrab and all,
I love the ROM and can only imagine the work you put into it.
Yesterday I started from scratch and with almost no hassle I got SEX1 installed. Since Im more of a user than a hacker or developer it means not only the ROM itself works very well but the intructions are well written.
I do have a few issues tho so I started to read this thread but I decided to give up on it. There are simply too many unsorted posts. Wouldnt it be a good idea with a list of known issues at the sticky top?
So far my main issues are
1. No swedish keyboard. I changed to swedish in "Touch It/Advanced Config" and restarted a few times with no luck. I started Total Commander CE to try to edit the registry as posts here described but couldnt figure out how to do it.
2. The text is ultra small at some places. And some controls seem to "think" the containing text is small but it isnt so its almost not visible at at all. It is for example impossible to change the signal of incomming calls for me. The text on the page is very small and the checkboxes and drop downs are overlapping each other. At the bottom there are two check boxes without labels. The overall feelign is there are some gui sizes that are too small or two big.
3. The SEX1_Comm_Mgr.cab cant be installed "because it does not have sufficent system permissions".
4. Camera isnt working. The display is black and nothign happens when i try to use it.
5. The phone is not ringing. :) It works, but there is just no signal. Incomming text messages do have a signal tho.
Sorry for asking questions allready asked, but Im keen on getting this one workign really well so i can impress my friends. :) And recommend it ofc! Im using the barebone flavour but will try the other one too just for fun. Again: well done and thanks a lot!
:)

I think I've found another bug :(
When you play music in WMP, and then (quickly) press the power button to off the display, playback stops and then the display goes blank. I think this is a problem to do with the MS build and not of any porting or cooking, but still worth a mention.
Also, why is it that WMP no longer uses hardware acceleration to play videos? This is basically my only gripe with using WM6.5 now. Besides that, its way more usable than WM6.1.

I'm quite sure it is a problem witht he new R3AA, because when I was on R2AA Official rom I didn't had the problem. After updating to R3AA it was there, It didn't matter what language I used. After updating to your custom rom(the one with the R3AA beta stuff) the problem was solved. So must be something in the final R3AA OEM files. Since it doesn't matter what sys/rom files are used

Problem with SEX1 Comm Manager and SPB Panel sorted. Uninstalled and re-installed SPB Panel.
Had a strange one last night. Battery went dead half way through a call to girlfriend. She had called me, and key lock was on. When connected to mains, keylock would not go off no matter what I tried. Thought it would need hard reset, but finally cleared when I took simcard out!
Otherwise, love PURE, and more stable than its predecessor.

hey gtrab, this is the only wm 6.5 rom I've tried where the media panel doesn't suffer from a bug where windows mobile will go to sleep when the screen is off while listening to music.
EDIT: I just installed the compatibility pack for htc apps from the other thread and I found that the problem returns right after the pack is installed.
when listening to a song with headphones on, after 1 minute is played the music will stop and won't continue until pressing the power button. this can be fixed by disabling windows mobile sleep in power settings, but then the battery is drained a lot faster.
some kind of setting that is changed by the rhodium packages is effecting playback

Although an autostarting data connection puses music which annoys me to no end.

I found a solution to my problem. I admit, I was wrong to think it has something to do with gtrab's ROM. It was WMDC.
If some one also has the problem when sync it says "Outlook not installed on phone", do the following.
-Uninstall WMDC completely.
-Restart the PC.
-Install it again.
Btw, Gtrab, any news on when is the bug fixed 3.60 coming out?

Does 3.57 suffer from the same ringtone bug? Wondering if it's worth the wait for 3.60b, but no word from gtrab on how that's going...

This has always been present for me, in even the official ROMs from R1A etc, luckily i dont use WMP because i prefer the easy to use interface of MxP.
Although an autostarting data connection puses music which annoys me to no end.
Thats odd. Were they official Vodafone ROMs or Generic UK? I've been using the Generic UK ROMs for a long time and never had any such problems. I always used MXP for music, but I didn't use it for video since it was very choppy. The video playback from WMP, however, was perfect (I think this can only be attributed to hardware acceleration). This could be because Gtrab cooks X1a ROMs (check in settings), so maybe that has something to do with it. I also notice the difference with things like $ and Ģ in symbols, but not a big deal there.

Thanks for the note kenobyR, but can you check one more thing out for me? Do you have the backlight brightness set to "Auto Adjust"? If so, does it actively adjust like in 6.1, or do you have to press a button first to get it to trigger (i.e. does the light sensor near the earpiece work automatically)?
I'm really debating installing 3.57 or waiting for 3.60...can anyone shed some light on any bugs with their 3.57 install, and/or what might be fixed in 3.60?

You just need to set your region in the regional settings applet in settings as it's as gtrab's zone.
this affects also the am/pm or 24h clock.

worked fine for me, actually I'm going back to that as the Energy Rom I'm using right now it's really buggy xD
right I'll stay with 21812 and wait for a new build that actually have some nice new features/improvements.

I really don't want to come across as a spammer asking all of these questions, but are you guys saying that 3.57 (21812) is the most stable and bug-free among all of gtrab's ROMs so far?
I know it might not have all of the latest, bleeding-edge features, but I'm just looking for a slim 6.5 ROM that I can run for a few months solid at least. Good to hear the ringtone bug isn't around in 3.57, but I'm wondering what else I might run into if I flash.
I still haven't setup a good UC profile, so I wanted to keep my flashing to a minimum :D
Also, this 3.57 BB has the HTC Compatibility Pack installed correct? I'd like to use some of the newer HTC apps like (their version of) FingerSuite...and one FINAL Q...Zeus II, the mirror of 3.57 that you just posted a page ago, is it the XPR compression? (what I'm looking for)
Thanks for all of your insight fellas!

I didn't experience any bugs except stronger use of battery. Backlight is working in automatic mode and , as far as I know, well.
3.60 is very buggy at the moment (atleast the available one)
I hope gtrab will make available the updated version soon:) I just flashed back to 3.57 ( I was contemplating which one, PURE or BB so it might shed some light which one is better ATM)
Just don't forget, you will need automatic connection setup for your GPRS/3G and that one you can find in ZEUSII's signature. :)

Right, I will grab that Auto Connection Setup file from ZeusII's siggy, or i suppose I could just manually configure a new GPRS connection...either way, I should be fine.
kenobyR, would you say that 3.57 is quite stable for you, with minimal (to hopefully no) issues? I have been out of the ROM flashing scene since I retired my HTC Universal, and I didn't want to start messing with my Xperia so soon...well it seems the time has come as my OS is a bit messed up (and I'm a perfectionist!). That's why I'm also wondering if 3.57 has a "REAL XPERIA AKU5" core or what not...
Sorry again for hogging this thread, but you guys have been a great help...OH, and did anyone ever HardSPL their Xperia with the microSD card method? I can't get my PCs to recognize my X1 via USB cable, so I was hoping i could microSD flash it. I read in the HardSPL thread that some did do it and it worked out fine...I think it's my only way now really...

ok, thanks man. i think am just gonna wait till a more stable version is out.
i've been using PURE 3.49 since it was first posted and so far found it to be the most stable one. had no problems with activesync even on two computers and all the panels are working great (minor glitches on facebook panel but tolerable for me). so this is the version i chose for "eveyday use" as they say :)
i just love the BAREBONE concept and am eyeing this version to be for my next "everyday use" ROM.
gtrab, just a quick question: why have you opted to remove Adobe Reader on BAREBONE? Is there a Memory or Performance issue? Or a cooking issue? (it's just that i use it heavily so i miss that :D - it's not an issue since I can reinstall this via CAB - am really just curious)

Anyone have any luck with rhodium notifications or volume control in R3.57?
asdfbrolga3
27th June 2009, 06:27 AM
Have been using BARE 3.57 find it excellent - fast, responsive and very stable, no ringtone problem, and Adobe Reader is there in my version, even though i was expecting it not to be from the description.
The only issues I have i think are general WM6.5 problems, like higher battery load, and I have trouble with customising the throttle interface, I try using CHone editor, but this is far from self explanatory for a general user as opposed to a programer I think. It has taken a while but i am now used to the start menu, and after going back to 6.1 realise i like it much better especially with the 4 column upgrade.
General troubles i have with the Titanium interface:
- None of the weather plug ins work - I have found the code for my city (OCN/AU/QLD/BRISBANE) and it always comes up with an error
- the volume plug in always shows an error, BUT i would much prefer if it interfaced with G-profile, I have tried this in CHone but it just gets too confusing
- the today time section has a picture of a clock but that is not a representation of the time, and just looks silly
- would really like the alarm to interface with g-alarm instead of the generic one, but again can't work out how to do this
- tried an opera plugin but it came up with an error too, so stuck with IE as the default browser from the home screen
- any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated
- also if there is a better (more user friendly) interface to modify titanium that would be great
Overall an excellent Rom

Maybe too many concurrent downloads :)
Thanks gtrab!! Just6 installed VolCtrl2 and it is working great! But how to get SE fonts on it?
First impressions: Faster, smoother than any... of your previous. Let alone others:)

Any feedback is always appreciated, positive or negative
If another cooker's ROM is faster than this one then I'd like to know, I'd ask him how he achieved it, and then I'd come bac and impove my ROMs even more ;)
I live to learn
I love to learn
And I learn FAST :D
And then I share :cool:

To be honest with you I haven't tried any of the others so my statement was over a bit but without intention of insulting anyone work.
I have spent some time here browsing through and still there is not much in others that would made me try them. Your attitude and style gave a first impression and that made the choice.
There is not as much eye-candy and stuff like in others and that's what I like. In lack of finding a proper word I would say your ROMs are sweet.
I also see how much you are involved in this community and I hope that it won't wear you out so we could continue to use your great ROM's:) There is also X2 coming so you will have full hands of work hehe...
btw splash screen is looking great, a bit off for the "tap screen to configure...", but great.

I have been running GenericUK from the forum here pretty much since day 1. The Voda crap drove me nuts. I never play videos rly, i have couple of music vids i use to show off the phone but thats it, so not worried about that. Just would be nice now to not have my music pause/stop every time the data connection opens.

Hi gtrab, only a little question. Are you working in the Xpert version, or you will only work in the Barebone version and us will "Xpertize" it (with all the plugins and applications) as we like?
I'm waiting to update from SEX1 R2, to your newer and more "Xpert" version! :D
Thanks and excelent work.

point me to where you got it and how you did it, and I can help you
(X series is currently 5% capable only, but in colaboration with other user there's a new phcanOverbmp floting arround that will display 1%s)
virtually everything i have in my phone at the current moment is from your threads, i got the Ethermind battery driver and i also got the sex 1 batter enchnment since it comes with you BB built in, and when i installed you icons for 6.5 its showing me 5% incriments, i thought ehtermind drivers show 1% thats why i ask.
i about to flash your new BB right now :cool:

wierd thing is when typing message and itīs longer than 1 sms it says (2 messaggi)
is it jast a joke or did you/MS missed it?
#2 when in keyboard out and entering menu icons is messed up
small, wide, long, tiiiiny and regular, and itīs differend icons on each restart =S
and not at all in regular mode(keyboard in) and itīs in all in the start meny.
and finaly when using smart lock software for auto lock...
when pressing suspend, it seems like the graphix accelerator isnīt in sync.
:in locked mode, screen on, when failing:
all black,but u can se windows logo, network and power in the start menu bar.
is it my phone thatīs messed up and time for "accidentaly" drop in water and claim on warranty os it it some drivers thatīs missing/not starting correctly sometimes?
(sry for my bad english, but people who complains dosnt have muck to do so let give them something to with their lives (= )
