howdy, using a diamond with stock 1.93.479.3 WWE rom and am trying to install Olinex SPL and then a new rom, the problem is that I get [Error 202] when I try to install (using ROMUpdate Utility)... I read that to solve this issue I have to tick 'enable advanced network functionality', but as soon as I do, the activesync connection drops.

Anyways to work around this.. do I have to have 'enable advanced network functionality' ticked for the installation to work?

Cheers.

EDIT: forgot to mention I have windows mobile 6.1, and am using XP with service pack 3.

hi from what I can recall the activesnyc should drop, and the device into a multi couloured screen (bootloader) and then reconnect and the process begins

so what steps should I take exactly? enable advanced network functionality, then put it in bootloader and then sync it once more?

Hello, Zdave!
Maybe I can help you to get into the boot screen multicolor ...
First, connect your phone to USB cable (be sure that the battery is over 50% energy), then using your stylus, reset the device, press and hold volume down key until the screen appears multicolored, should to show your type of connection, in seconds, "USB". Now go to where you installed the program and resume the installation ... I hope I was helpful ... :)

from my knoledge, the advanced network .... works on some computers (hardware) and doesn't on others.
You should try to enable this option, and use another pc.
hope this helps.

Activated bootloader, and hit the installation... but same thing, it wouldn't install. The screen, however, changed to a greyscale tint with a percentage... which is good, but It was still stuck at 0%..no movement on the PC as well (stuck at 0%).. then it goes to some recovery mode, which I skip because the phone starts normally (doesn't revert to the tricolour screen).

maybe there's a timed way to activate bootloader during the installation process? I've read most guides but maybe i'm missing something.. or my diamond/PC is messed?

I do not know how I could help you :(, but bootloader immediately cancel the installation, where what you want to install is not intended for your device type, eg if for CDMA, or if for other model in addition to Diamond, I just happened when I wanted to put in mine, an operating system for Touch Pro...,check again, if what you want to install is for your device.
God speed!

Please Follow the Steps in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211

or Use the search function.

used the search function thanks, but the whole point is that I'm trying to install the HardSPL (as stated in the original post). The installer mentions my current SPL and the one that is about to be installed (Olinex).

aww sorry, was late and seems taht i didnt read exactly..

tried to turn off Firewall? AV?

I never had probs with the option ticked on. But i think also without.

Have a look on the flashing method of HSPL, if i remind correctly u dont
have to put ur phone in Bootloader mode.

Instead it will load a sspl and reboot ur phone for flash HSPL. Then activesync
will loose connection and the RUU takes over.
