Hi guys!
Here is my last contribution to the Alpine, before buying a Touch Pro 2. ;-)
This ROM is based on the most recent O2 ROM. I removed all O2 stuff and replaced the Bluetooth 1.0 drivers with version 1.6 drivers.
This ROM also contains the most recent TomTom version for WM2003 which supports the latest version 8 maps!
Enjoy!
Piet

I replaced the link with a permanent one.
Good luck!

Hi!
It looks like your device isn't a world wide English (WWE) device.
There is a thread about changing the country code on a Himalaya (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=228852) which should be usable for the Alpine, but it involves some hacking into the firmware definition file. Decide on your own risk.

Hi, How long is the update supposed to take?

It has been running for about 45minutes now and all that is on the handset display is...
USB

V1.01

My laptop says it is still "Checking the information on [my] device... Please Wait..." Even though it has already shown me my previous firmware versions and asked me to confirm upgrade.

Thanks
Dom

After 4 hours and a call to O2 it would appear this update has crashed after erasing my phone...
I have now attempting to run the O2 official ROM install and the handset is no longer does anything...
Any ideas people or is my phone now a paper weight?
Thanks
Dom

Hi Herman!
Follow the instructions in another topic (Alpine Stuck at Bootloader: How to solve this.) in this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341564
The hang is not caused by the ROM itself, it's 100% so just try to reload it using the instructions in the link above.
Kind regards,
Piet

Instructions How to Enter into BootLoader mode:
Press and hold the “Power” & “D” (navigation) buttons,
and then press the Reset Button until “Serial” shows on screen.
Plug device in the cradle. “Serial” will change to “USB”
Execute the file MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe from the ROM upgrade I supplied.

Probably silly questions but I'm new to all this.

I have Orange SPV M1500 (locked at the minute) but phone does not work.
Full device Info
Op ver = 3.11.1.167
ROM ver = 1.11.00 WWE
ROM date = 01/27/05
Radio ver = 20000
Protocol ver = NONE
ExtROM ver = 1.11.167 WWE

If I unlock the unit will this new rom program work (I noticed it said for O2)? I don't know how to get my phone working.

Help muchly appreciated.

Ta,
Scott

You should indeed unlock the device first (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=240784). Afterwards you should be able to apply this ROM.

Many thanks for the answer (and link).

I will indeed try unlocking it and running your ROM.

I have nothing to lose.

It being an O2 ROM will not affect me using an Orange sim, afterwards?

Thx again,
Scott

Soory Pietsukkel,

Got my thick head on: I have downloaded and ran the unlock tools - don't know if they've worked properly (no other sim to try). All said failed on screen but got a lot of text in the log file that maybe suggests different. Any way of knowing? One thing that has changed: the antenna used to have a '!' next to it, stating No service. Now it has a 'x' and states flight mode (wireless off), although every reset returns it too original state of no service.

Also, have I missed the instructions anywhere on how to use your rom tool? I haven't a clue.

Maybe it's my dodgy radio (20000) and protocol (NONE) numbers that are screwing the unlock up.

Thx,
Scott
