Another Hybrid build of the rom (a mix of WM6.1 and WM6.5).

There were some problem in the Core of last few builds, most of them have been fixed in this build. Also I have noticed significant improvement in the Core.

Flashed as it should, problem with HS++ disappearing and reappearing resolved, but the band page gone again - same issue as 8.7 I believe. Everything else works - still testing.

I think, you should install Arcssoft MMS Composer (I hope that's the program's name) as usual.

Search for the CAB in the forum.

Great to get that "blue" WMP theme back again. BeyondPod would not run with the "silver" theme that has been in your last couple of roms and I couldn't get it replaced. so please, please, dont touch it!!:)

very minor issue with the G/3G icon not refreshing when you switch with the comm manager. works better when you use settings but not all the time. SR sorts it till you switch again. it just seems to be the icon. the phone is switching between GSM and 3G ok.

bluetooth is recognising other devices (gps receiver) but not sending or receiving.

Regarding the Network Wizard problem, after making the connection setup and choose my operator (Saudi Arabia SCT)
After restarting the device, I go to the message and form the menu I choose new MMS, as you know it's take me to Choose from templates, and there I cannot see anything like Picture or Video. Before the connection setup everything there.

Another issue, some time when I try to open the message box I face this problem (edit load Error) this issue time to time and make the JasJar sleepy for long time. The restart only can make the device wakeup.

Occasional freezes while opening folders with File Explorer. As stated by Enigma1nz earlier somewhere that it's a card problem I dont think it really is for two reasons: first, I have original branded card and secondly, no hangs while using Lite versions of Roms. I think some program embedded into the Regular Rom cause problem. All the applications which Tomal embeds when installed to storage card never cause hanging problem while using Lite version Rom.

I believe you can just add S2A and use it, no need to integrate it in a ROM.

Fast. Very fast. No problems with HS++ - initialised and appeared as it should, no disappearances or lock-ups of any sort. Had to tick Digital clocks in Today options separately, the ones with HS++ were awkward somewhat.

Band page appears in dialer phone settings, not through the Comm Manager phone settings, and although 3G ticked, couldn't get 3G. Will downgrade the Radio from 1.18 to 1.14 or 1.17 today to see if that will make a difference.

Other than that - everything installed, left me with 20-odd Mb program memory. Some programs failed to close properly, continued running on the background and reduced the memory somewhat, so had to be closed through Task Manager.

Had to go back to one of the previous ROM versions - had problems getting data connection. Downgraded radio to different versions twice - no joy for me, at some point thought it was either a device or network problem, but no, other devices connected to 3G just fine, with this one I couldn't get any data connection. Re-flashed once and cleared data once - nothing. Many attempts to connect were made, but all failed. Not sure what it is, happy with ROM otherwise.

WKtask continue with problems, doesn't refresh when changing screen form portrait to landscape, so the close button and the bar stays in the wrong position
-> maybe it's the problem people are reporting when saying the programs don't close, because they are clicking the default close button and not the wktask button (the one who closes the apps)

I'm using 1.08 and I'm again getting network where I hadn't

I installed the Finger Keyboard 2.1 but i dose not work.

A. Performance:

- Stable even more than 8.81, smooth, not freeze, more beauty graphique
- Fingermenu: better but I found does not work with Lexigo dictionary.

B. Connection:

- All connections: phone, message, BT works very fine
- Internet browser by Opera, NetFront, Spb online Diamond TV (watching TV while listening through BT),... : Excellent, not disapeared even one time

C. Conflicts: not happen to all my softs and games, only:

- can not work with Srs Wow HD (like previous version)

Conclution: Excellent and I guess my Boss Uni Tomal will release final version soon because it's perfect.

Question: How can we stop Fingermenu for sometimes to use Lexigo Dictionary?

many thanks Tomal ! Another fine ROM. Your ROMs are one of the major reasons i still treasure my Uni (Imate-Jasjar)

Observation - The note editor in the ROM 8.9 is MADE EDITOR, not NOTEPAD MOBILE as mentioned in the features list in post # 1 and as appearing below the icon in Programs. Notepad Mobile was better.

Suggestion - The grey-white calculator skin in your ROM 8.71, with the much larger buttons was more elegant & more usable.

Is it possible you can take care of the above in your final release ?

I'm having some issues with the SD card drivers.... I have a 16GB card that worked perfectly with 8.8, but now I have to repeatedly soft-reset the PDA/change driver settings back and forth to get the card recognised.

have been using 8.9 for three days now... one thing strange to my notice... my pda was on vibrator mode yesterday. suddenly i heard the Ring Tone and it was a phone call. the icon on the bar was still of Vibra Mode. then i had to revert to sound mode and to vibrator mode to serve the purpose.

Bug it sure is...

also the G/3G icon updation problem still persists... at times; finger menu acts slow...

when is final coming out?

Wktask intended to start in delay for faster device start!

Did you Enable the WkTask to be started on startup from here -
WkTask menu > preferences > Startup ... Enable ...?

If so, Disable it right now and your problem should disappear. Also, check on \windows\startup if the shortcut still exist. Delete it if required.

For your information, my rom has a boot-process manager, who is actually taking care for all of the boot time processes. DO NOT activate them manually unless you remove them from the boot-process manager's list!

Hope my explanation is enough and understandable.... ;)

I don't know if its relevant but I'm using the Tomal 8.5 and I have a problem with the time sync I checked the daylight savings and when I manually press the "Query Time Server" button it works great, but when I reconnect to the active sync, the time goes back like the daylight saving is not checked.
If someone now how to fix it - please help.

My computer has daylight savings, also it happened when I'm connecting thru the WiFi. I think that the problem is that the when I click on the daylight savings it is marked and than when i close the time sync and re-open it again the daylight savings in unmarked.

2 more bugs observed. Both happens on random occasions after soft reset :-

- the volume slider, on the today screen volume icon, comes down to 50%.

I'm using the same version as you from Microsoft's site. I don't think Radio has any interference in it. Anyway if you want to upgrade use RUU and instead of nk.nbf place radio file in the folder.
Try installing Voice command prior to any other application after hard reset. I think it may help.

I had Voice Command 1.60.4622.0 USA installed through most ROMs and never had a problem, regardless of the radio. Tested it with Beta-3, can confirm it works as it should, try it. The only thing I had to do was disable notifications for Messages, MMS and E-Mails in Sounds, otherwise announcements clashed.

Yep, can confirm - no problems with charging whatsoever. Enabled 'USB charging' as well, works either way.
Connected a BT headset today without any problems. Data connection works (which was important to me), no dropping or random disconnections, using R1.18, but I think that is relevant only as far as signal strength is concerned.

Battery life is the same as for all 8-series ROMs. Nothing to report so far ;)

I have been a long time follower of Tomal's Rom and , I would say, this very build has absolutely lighting speed and stunning stability. I would recommend this for every Uni user who are pondering on whether getting a newer phone or stick with Uni.

With this rom, you can save that money you are preparing to fork out for a new phone. I have bought a new U1000 (Athena) with a view to replacing my aging UNI. However, it turns out to be a headache to me. After flashing this ROM, I decided to let go of my Athena and keep my Uni.

The only little problem is I can't call up the File Explorer inside PQzII which is an essential program for me, that makes me can't select the Icon but it is just a really minor issue. I can live without PQzII's icon but I can't live without Uni with Tomal's Roms!

Just a bunch of third party applications extra in Regular one, other than that really no differences. Performance is superb in both versions. Flashdisc is 16 and 20 MB in Reg and Lite respectively.

hi dude if you have 128 mb ram then the regular version is more than the lite for you.. the lite version is for those who needs more free memory to play with (especially with 64mb Ram). So as you would have heaps of free ram even when using regular version, that's why there is no lite or vanilla build for 128mb Uni..

If you have ActiveSync and your device is powered on that's how it goes. So it's just fine don't worry.

Tomal, I am sorry you interpreted my query as a complaint. It was certainly not intended as such and I send my thanks to you and Enigma1nz for your replies. Those are the responses I was interested in when I posed my question. It was the simultaneous cycling of the screen and the LED together with an absence of the word "charging" on the Power screen in Settings which triggered my concern. I confess I did not take a meter to the hardware. I have since found that by connecting my Uni to a charger while the Uni is "off" the LED comes on steady and since there is no screen to cycle I am not alarmed. My worry was possibly having to re-flash the rom before losing all power. Your work is most impressive and certainly NOT a cause for COMPLAINT. Again: Thanks to you and Enigma1NZ.

No not by clicking setting, this way gprs icon doesn't show. You have to be quick to enter pin while the device is booting and pin screen is shown by default.

id like opera much better too... cuz it fits the resolution and u can actually read what it says without zooming... but it doesnt support flash. I realize there are ways to make it support flash but they never seem to work for me. Plus, opera mobile crashes alot for me. Dunno why. Even if i have no other apps running, and 20+ free ram before it seems to crash/hang alot. :(

seems to crash less with this new hybrid rom. do u know how to get flash to work on opera mobile? Could use some help. :)

id like opera much better too... cuz it fits the resolution and u can actually read what it says without zooming... but it doesnt support flash. I realize there are ways to make it support flash but they never seem to work for me. Plus, opera mobile crashes alot for me. Dunno why. Even if i have no other apps running, and 20+ free ram before it seems to crash/hang alot. :(

Not really...It´s the same here:( I´m using for seeing videos ie6 and for all the rest opera...
Here works good, of course it´s heavy but once is opened no problem

and another thing... it seems that even though i choose to install opera mobile to my mmc, it takes the same space on the universals internal memory as if i were to install it onto the device.
Any way to possibly change that?

I think this is because dome of the files have to install on main memory...

Take a clean device I mean do a hard reset, remove any folders namely Windows, Application data and Program files from Storage Card. Install Flash Lite 3.1 then Flash 7 in the end install Opera 8.65 all on the Storage Card. You'll have a working flash device on your palm! Cheers.

There is... after doing doc format flash 8.9. Then see if all embedded drop-downs work, if all goes fine continue installing applications one by one and checking after every app installed. Once you catch the culprit don't install that. Simple... isn't it?
Format your storage card too somewhere other than your PPC.

P.S and please don't count on me. Tomal is professional and boss around here, I am nothing. Just an old amateur maybe.

Either get a blank theme or a blank wallpaper.

Works with 9.5 too I prefer 8.65 because it has the option of displaying page in 'fit to screen format'.

Great ROM. Using lite version,

I had the same error using the regular ROM despite 19Mb free memory. I tried with the Lite ROM and it works fine.

Some says 1.18 some others 1.17 and 1.15
Try them all till you get the best!
It also depends on your cell provider and signal quality
On my personal case 1.08 was the best and tested a lot

I had a problem with the iGO software I install other revision and it worked fine, but I still have a problem with the Skype.
By the way I upgrade to 128MHz by my self and it worth it.

i've been running 8.9 for a week now (regular build) and its doing great except for a minor bug (?) when i open text mesaging and type the recipient's name there were two dialogue boxes appearing prompting for possible phonebook entries. why is this so?:confused: i havent encountered this with the previous builds

I had this failiure when I tried to add additional codecs. But after I uninstalled them everything was fine.
