I have tried out quite a few roms on my device, and the new 6.5 beta roms are great... I especially like the start menu.
The only thing is, that I really love M2D! The new titanium plugin is ok, but nothing beats manilla!

So I decided to skin my 6.1 rom with M2D, to give it a 6.5 feel, and this is the result....
start menu:

hone screen:

scrolling action:

The apps I used to achieve this effect are as follows...
-Start menu button hook, which allows you to remap the start menu text/or winlogo
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427392

-Mort buttons, the most configurable app launcher out there!
http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?mo...st&category=14

-The program I used for the transparent look on the taskbar and menubar is wisbar advance (BTW this is not true transparency, this can't be achieved, believe me I've tried!) You can download a trial here:
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/
or do a google search for v.1.xx, which is still available for free on some sites.

If you want to have a transparent slider background in m2d, you have to change the HTCHomeSettings.xml and reinstall with the m2d customizer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486712
(again no true transparency!)

In the next posts I will explain how I used and skinned these programs to achieve this effect. I'm good at modifying, but I know sh*t about programming!

The start menu

First install mortbuttons, and the start button hook...

You will need a registry editor to map mortbuttons to the start menu.. I use phm registry editor, you can find it here:http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/

Go to HKCU/Software/allelimo/StartButton

-if you want to map mortbuttons to the startmenu text set the HookText value to 1
-the Run value is automatically set to your program files folder, so if you installed mortbuttons on your device instead of your storage card, just change the value to:
MortButtons/MortButtons.exe (it will not run a seperate button from mortbuttons, only the .exe!). If you have it installed elsewhere specify the full path..
-soft reset your device and now the start menu is mapped!

If you like the honeycomb I made you can download it at the bottom..
Just unzip and put the honeycomb.mbz in the skins folder, which is in the MortButtons folder on your device, the 3 .gif files I included change the 'back-button' and the 'exit-button'. If want to do this, just overwrite the 3 .gif files in the Mortbuttons folder with them.
Go to the Mortbuttons Setup Menu, press display and under 'Skin:' select honeycomb, to use your own background, under 'Display style:' select User background and select the picture you want.

You will now have a honeycomb like setup when you press start!

To configure the icons, go back to the Mortbuttons Setup Menu and press 'Edit Menus'. Each button icon can be changed by pressing 'Menu Settings' and using the 'Icon' button (I use a dll file for the icons, it's also at the bottom of this post)
Make sure the button, that you want shown on your menu has the 'Show in Today plugin' box checked!
The button name can be changed in 'Window title' on the same page.
