I am new to smartphones and WM but recently acquired a StarTrek (i-mate version). After a few days playing with WM5 I took the plunge and installed WM6.1.
Although I don't have a data plan I thought it might be handy to be able to occasionally use a free dial-up service (yes there are some left). It looks simple to set up, but I'm obviously missing something.
I could not get this to connect on WM5 (not much diagnostics there) and hoped WM6.x would help. No luck. The connection fails with "no modem at the above number" even though dialing the number normally gives the expected modem bleeps (and I have tried a few different numbers). I assume this IS supposed to work, right? (all my searches for "dial up" return info about connecting a PC via the phone).
Can anybody guide me as to how to set this up?
