Just wondering, I am not returning it just yet... Still having a go trying to solve the problem i'm going through. But just in case i have to replace my Pocket PC HP Ipaq 612c because i have dead pixel on my screen plus the centre of the screen is relatively raised higher compared to the rest of the screen (making me have to press harder to register presses), should i have to restore the roms i've upgraded here back to it's original version? Also the Firmware back to v.0.81 from this new one of v.0.89?

My current updated version is:
Rom Date: Jun212008
Rom Version: MP-1.01.04
Bootloader: MP-1.00.03

Where can i find old rom version MP. 1.01.01??

PLEASE HELP. I am really worried i cant return this defective machine :(

You need to flash this (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=215348&prodSeriesId=3544358&prodNameId=3544382&swEnvOID=4014&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=hh-64237-1) official rom update and go to service.
Of course, no custom roms

thanks so much, i'm a bit relieved...

So just to confirm. It's ok to flash rom as long as it's the ones officially released by hp like link you gave me?
