Backlight settings do not last through a soft reset

On my AT&T Tilt, running WM6.1, no matter what shutoff times I choose for the phone's backlight, as soon as I perform a soft reset, these settings revert to their defaults of turning off the backlight after ten seconds and two minutes when not charging and when charging, respectively. Is there any way to fix this?
