Mail weirdness

I have the 232 WinMo 6.5 ROM from Bbsandkm over at PPCGeeks. I have the mail set up for my Gmail account, checking every 2 hours. For some reason, it is not checking the email. Instead, about every 2 hours, it simply brings up the mail screen on the Titan! I'll turn on my Titan to do something, and there is the mail screen. And even more weird, the Titanium email panel never shows that I have new messages.

I've seen this before on plain 6.1 ROMs, where mail simply doesn't automatically check mail anymore; but this is even more strange since it is bringing up the email window. Anyone got any ideas on this? Otherwise I am going to have to reflash this baby.
