After working on JustStable and getting my hands into JustHome, I learned a lot of things. So many things, in fact, that I feel like I was a before this.
So, I decided to work on an updated version of JustStable. The differences between JustStable and JustStable v2 are:
Upgraded XIP and SYS to 21046
Removed ULDR partition (3MB+ free space)
Added new SIP with no problems: FingerKeyboard
Updated ClearStorage
Added ConcurrenceMgr
Updated the old DRMMiddleWare that I had (1.0.081112.2)
Updated the old DShow that I had (2.00.081226.0)
Updated GoogleMaps to the newest with Latitude and Streetview (3.1.0.6)
Updated startup animations - Now with a nice subtle start up sound
Added HTCApplications service
Updated HTCMessage 1.81.281.1
Updated and added an enhanced LockStreamDRM
Updated and added an enhanced mHubVO subsystem
Updated the Rhodium Notification Enhancement to a much better one
Still working on enabling all its functions (currently unavailable on QVGA)
Still working on enabling the Rhodium Menu Enhancement
Newest OperaMini
Updated DeviceInfo (from HTC Jade)
Updated Microphone AGC (from HTC Jade)
Updated Mute (from HTC Jade)
Added MyCPL (you'll noticed the cleaned up QuickMenu control panel)
Updated OutloookEnhancement (jade)
Updated PhoneSettings DLL (from Jade)
Updated PictureEnhancement (from jade)
Updated RandomAccess (from Jade)
Updated Redial (from Jade)
Updated SIM Manager (from Jade)
Updated STK Service Dll (from Jade)
Updated STK UIPPC exe (from Jade)
Added USBtoPC
Added USBtoPC popup (still working on enabling) (from Jade)
Updated USSD Service (from Jade)
Updated VersionInfo (from Jade)
Updated Power (the power in the control panel that lets you set the screen brightness and such) (2.19.0.0)
Updated WLANSettings (from Rhodium)
Updated VerInfou2.dll (from the HTC Calculator package I had included before)
Hacked nk.exe to make the build newer (it shows the build that tmobile set when they first created the wing build where I got the nk.exe from in the first place. In other words: Device info will show that the ROM is a newer version.)
Changed Pagepool to 5
All this with only a loss of about 2mb's!!!
Please do not ask me to describe what each of these do. You can find more info online.
As always you can get the ROMs from my site (http://justkitchen.info) by clicking on the JustROMs link on the right hand side.

*stares as the wing flies across the room*
lol
So far, it's turning out pretty nicely.
I think I may also set the pagepool to 5 (instead of 4 or 6.)
EDIT: I might also do some UPX'ing...

I noticed that little startup sound with the HTC-logo zoom... hah ha, I thought to myself: wow, that's prob been there the whole time on earlier versions but my phone volume must've been turned down. (that should confirm my reputation for "easily confused" brain-processing). The notifications display is indeed more elegant ... though to be honest, the font size is almost TOO-small now by comparsion, but it integrates into your "JustIvan" theme much better.
I look forward to exeriencing all these little fixes you've arrived at since hacking 6.5... As always, thank you.

I like it very much. Just flashed it and having no problems....Quick question though...In previous versions of JustStable when you are on the phone and you get a text message an annoying beep sounds off which the person on the phone can hear. Needless to say, this has caused a few problems...I was wondering if there was a way to edit this through a reg editor...thanx alot ivan for another top grade room

Hi Ivan,
Great release.
Everything is working like a charm.
All the icons (bluetooth, WIFI and ActiveSync) are working.
Also the new Rhodium Notification is super. Much better than the last version.
Wan't really noticed any other changes/improvements due to the integration of the Jade stuff.
Any way 2 thumbs waaaaay up!!!!
Cant wait to see how the 'new' WM6.5 will be like...

The original JustStable wouldn't load the sound at startup. I couldn't figure out why, either, then. :p
I suppose the fonts were automatically set that small due to the notification "drawer", if you would, holds more information now and needs the extra space. It can easily be edited by going to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\NOTIFICATIONMANAGER and changing the different font settings. The hard part is finding a balance between all the different fonts used to keep everything looking good together. If you find a good middle ground, post a pic and let me know your settings. ^_^

If I understand it right, they were talking about how when you're in a call with someone else and you recieve a text, it makes a noise which the person on the other end can hear. I think they were suggesting that it would only vibrate while in call since you're already holding the phone. I'm pretty sure that's what they're talking about, and No, I don't think it automatically sends out a SMS on a missed call. You would need a seperate program for that.

No, I mean the phone might be sending out SMS saying I'm Busy right now, I'll call you back etc when I don't pick up the call. I see a feature inside the phone menu option to customize it (I'm not using any programs, just this rom freshly installed), which gave me the red light since my prepaid minutes had decreased rapidly today.

Oh ok. I didn't know it had that feature built-in. Well, I would assume you can disable it. So was it set up by default to do that???

Yes I fear it was sending out by default. I've disabled it now. But thats a bad thing to have by default.. but I need to be sure if someone else can confirms it (maybe by the rom maker).
My friend said there is no SMS.. but it may just be him.

I've gotta say, after testing this out for a day, it is just not as good as your previous versions.
1. Opera Mini does not work.
2. WKTask now puts itself on top of the QuickMenu battery icon. I used to be able to poke that battery icon and it would give me details. Not the case anymore.
3. When the task bar is set to display the battery icon instead of a clock on the Today screen, the battery indicator is totally out of whack. On a full charge, it was red with the "19" in it, and that slowly dropped to 16 over the course of four hours, at which point I just changed the title bar to show the clock on the today screen.
4. Manilla 2D puts itself on top of QuickMenu as well. I understand that Manilla 2D is not something that you recommend installing, but I figured I'd still mention it here since this wasn't the case on your earlier releases.
5. It feels a lot slower. But then again, I'm coming from JustStableMicro (with Arcsoft MMS, Manilla 2D, Audio Manager, iContactBE, Opera Mini, Facebook, and a few others), which was speedy as heck.
I can help you troubleshoot whatever problems I'm having. That is, of course, assuming you're interested in troubleshooting them. If not, that's OK. I'll probably be reverting back to JSM regardless. It was just so damn fast. I love it. Thanks a bunch for it, and for this one (even if things didn't work out between this one and me). :)
edit-
Just to clarify, I tried reflashing to see if that would clear up some problems. I also tried hard resetting to see if that would work. Neither did. These problems were consistent.

Yea I doubt that Ivan would have it enabled by default. I'm using WM6.5 JustHome (http://thewingster.com/justhome.aspx) right now, so I can't test it. Maybe Ivan will have something to say soon....

I have the same problem. It won't open. When you click OperaMini link, javabed opens, and recognizes the opera application, but when you select Opera Mini to launcvh, it does not launch, it's kind of a circular loop where nothing ever opens.
I was going to try adding this special cab of OperaMini from XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3005654&postcount=1) (DATED 5/19/09) to see if that works, but this particular cab is a set with javabed, and signed Opera mini... so i don't know how javabed stuff supercedes another, if at all.

I'm pretty sure you already know this, but just in case: This is a preference setting in WkTask.... [Menu] > Preferences > Page 1 of prefs (General) > "Offset from the right edge".... INCREASE that number to re-position the cut-off of Wktask icon displays.
OperaMini not working: same here.

Oops... I thought I fixed that bug. I'll fix it and release an update Tuesday.

One of the updated files may have accidently added this feature (or 21046 added the feature) and since I don't use my Herald anymore, I didn't test it and see it. I should be able to easily disable.

1. See above for answer.
2. Strange... I didn't change either program....
3. Hmm... You mean when you enable the battery icon that I had disabled? That might be why I didn't notice it. It's probably part of the 21046 build and my taskbar icon replacements not playing nicely together...
4. What's going on with QuickMenu... I haven't touched it so it must be something else I added.
5. JustStableMicro is super fast in general. lol
This ROM was NEVER tested. :p

You are so busted, fake-Ivan. Everyone here knows that the REAL Ivan would give up his holiday in USA, tell his wife to go to a movie by herself, while the real Ivan works overnight tonight to have the new release ready on Monday -- not Tuesday. Tuesday is way too late, and certainly not indicative of the REAL selfless Ivan.

probably a noob question but how do i change the sound settings? when on normal i dont want th phone to vibrate each time i tap the screen. how do i disable that?
on a more serious note. i get an error when trying to start opera.
installed opera mobile 9.5 and it works perfectly. is there any way to deinstall the opera that comes with your rom?
thanks alot for your great efforts!

No, Opera Mini comes pre-installed and is un-removable, just like how you can't remove Internet Explorer.
And for your other question, I'm not exactly sure, but there's some option in the Settings menu that you can change the haptic feedback settings. Idk where it exactly is, so just explore for yourself.

The vibrate is in the settings, under system, TouchResponce Settings.
The OperaMini issue (it's not OperaMobile that I have in the ROM) has already been reported. It'll be fixed in the next release.

Well, I guess I was wrong. I think you actually can remove Opera Mini. Just go to the Java program (might be called Esmertec Jbed under an Apps folder) and then select Opera Mini, go to Menu -> Actions -> Uninstall. Tell me if that works! EDIT: Nvm, look below here.

It removes the "shortcut" that you see within the java app but the files are still there. Anything that's in the Windows folder is unremovable.
The next version of JustStableV2 will have it working fine.

To the original poster (not ace), isn't this all a rather moot point, since within 24 hours a new release of this ROM will correct the OperaMini problem? It was just an oversight for god's sake :)
For what it's worth, i installed an OperaMini cab, in the meantime, and it works totally fine.
And even if one's primary preference is Opera Mobile, then the choice is easy: use Ivan's JUST STABLE MICRO.
But this ROM is so lean, the smarter choice, in my opinion, is to have OperaMini installed, and add Opera Mobile as well. Then you can choose either... on a very very efficient ROM.
Now the only problem is that fake-Ivan is taking a holiday, whereas real-Ivan would be knocking this new release out today.

I'm pretty sure I know what this is. It happened to me several times with other pairs of ROMS... There is an "optional" secondary splash screen that some ROM builders create something for, and others do not. I'm prob wrong about this but i think it even gets stored on some firmware, separate from the device drive. So, even after you flash to a new rom, which is supposed to wipe the whole device, if the ROM you are flashing TO doesn't have that optional splash screen element, whatever is in the firmware from the prior ROM that *did* have such a splash screen gets displayed.
It flipped me out too when it happened several ROMS ago flashing to a PDAviet ROM from another one. I thought the flash had gotten all screwed up, and wondered "how is this possible"? Until someone explained this secondary splash screen. It has a specific file name but I cannot remember it.
And now, with that, I hope I am correct. If not, Fake-Ivan will likely be here tomorrow to correct the record.
But what all of us will want to know is this: "WTF ??" why would you be leaving Ivan's ROM for that older ROM ? :D

Is it meaned that the phone vibrate after ringing, when the other side answer the incoming call.

There's no version of Arcsoft included in this ROM (99.99% sure of that), which means that you can't send or recieve MMS. You would have to install your own version of Arcsoft for MMS to work. Ivan did this because it was impossible to get MMS working properly for every single person. Sorry!

5. It feels a lot slower. But then again, I'm coming from JustStableMicro (with Arcsoft MMS, Manilla 2D, Audio Manager, iContactBE, Opera Mini, Facebook, and a few others), which was speedy as heck.hehe, you were spoiled by JustStableMicro.

JustStable Build 4: [trimmed rest of this post to save on thread real estate]
Everything sounds good man. I actually just finished installing everything back with Micro again too. But that's fine. I'm going to give JustStableV2 a whirl right now. I can always revert back to Micro again if I want.
If anyone is interested, I made a CAB that installs Facebook and replaces the YouTube entry in Manilla2D with a Facebook entry. I figure this might be especially useful for Herald/Atlas users because YouTube sucks ass on our phones.

dumpy - i'm going to first see if i am satisfied with the way the new ifonz works on my phone, and if it doesn't, i will go with m2d... so it's be great if you were to post it. Speaking of which, can you specify (and link to) the version of m2d you are using? and specifically -- does the music tab invoke audio manager, and does audio manager work properly? Second, does the version you have run footprints? if so i'd really like to see that. it sounds like an interesting gizmo feature. thanks

I thought Footprints requires GPS.
Yeah, I can post my Facebook CAB. I'll do it in the morning (1am here; I'm about to hit the hay).
The version of Manilla 2D that I'm using comes from HTC Jade. It's the newest version and maybe it's just me, but it seems to be extremely efficient. It does have Footprints, but the tab is disabled by default (I'm guessing it can be re-enabled via the XML file).
I'm using Audio Manager 2.2 and it works fantastically. Manilla 2D works well with it.
Additionally, Manilla 2D looks for OperaL.exe in the \Windows\ directory by default as the web browser executable. While you can change this value in the registry, I like Ivan's solution more.

The first one is the one that I'm using. The second one contains more than just Manilla 2D. It also contains separate CABs for Audio Manager, Footprints, Streaming Media, YouTube, and Album. They're all from January so they're fairly current, but I haven't tried any of them because my own setup works perfect for me.

hi Ivan, i'm having some problems with Just Stable V2 -- but these could easily be due to changes I have made since my flashing. So I'd like your help in the "level 1" troubleshooting. I'll describe the troubles I am having, then describe things I've done that could, perhaps, have interfered with the proper functioning of the ROM:
(1) When I switch from Portrait to Landscape, it redraws fine. But once it is in landscape, it gets stuck. It does not go back to portrait, and everything freezes up. Even sliding out the keyboard doesn't move the display back to the portrait mode. All I can do is soft-reset.
But I have done this over and over again, and the problem is completely consistent.
(2) Now, I know that one of the primary gauges you use to illustrate how fast these ROMS are the speed at which they flip to horizontal, and back to portrait. And for sure, after I first flashed, it performed exactly as advertised - blazing fast.
(3) I want to see what effect the following could have.
a. I have made registry changes for system font, menu bar font and popup font. These all perform really well, and don't seem to impact anything else.
b. I did add some fonts to the Windows folder, and also to the Windows > Fonts folder ... Some of these had come from my PC's font folder... It's possible that it was after THIS step that I started to get "memory critically low" when I had maybe 3 apps open, such as Total Commander, Pictures and Video, and Skyfire browser. So I wondered if these maybe 15 additional fonts could have added considerably to the device memory. (For example, I added Arial, but each variation was its own font file: regular, italic, bold, bold italic, arial black; and, another example was Myriad, and Segoe, Segoe condensed.
**** Could you please list, or do screenshot of the Windows folder, font files to list exactly what is there with your ROM installation?
I tried to delete some of these files, but was unable to do so since they were in the Windows folder. But I did do that trick of renaming the extension to be .bak -- and for those that accepted this renaming, I was then able to delete these font.bak files, to try to reclaim memory space. And I have not had that error message anymore, where I am asked to close down an app in order for another to run.
c. I also loaded up quite a lot of cabs, whenever possible installed to SD card, which is 8gigs. Here is what is currently showing up as a folder in my device Programs Directory, despite my selection to install on SD card:
Connections
GoogleMaps (I don't remember why this is here, since I think you
cooked it into your ROM.... Is this the case -- that any app cooked
into the ROM will not show up in Programs directory on the device?)
Oxios > memory > CloseApps.exe, Hibernate.exe
PCMKeyboard
S2U2
S2V
SIPchange
Start Menu > Certificates > dummy.txt (***** Is this something that
comes with your ROM, or did some app I installed create that? I didn't)
Windows Media Player > Default(Landscape).skn , Default(portrait).skn (*** Is this
something the ROM installed? I did not add this)
d. I also, in order to use the HTC Home music tab with Audio Manager, installed an audiomanager today plugin.. but this has always been realllllly slow to bring up the music player when I am on Music tab within HTC Home. I know that initially Windows Media Player would still launch, until I used "Advanced Configuration Tool" and was able to select which media player should be default for the music today plugin. I selected AudioManger instead of the default selection Windows Media Player.
(***** eventually i unistalled the AudioManager plugin because it just doesn't seem to run well at all, takes several minutes, and clicking the audio manager app in WKtask icon on taskbar, and i cannot figure out what sequence of stuiff to eventually get it to play, but this became intolerable. SO now I have unchecked Music within the list of HTC Home plugins... and I just use my PocketPlayer app)
e. I had set up WKtask preference to perform the horizontal-vertical rotation of the screen when I do a vertical gesture on the OK button at right-top of screen. That had worked fine, until some point that I cannot figure out might have corrupted that smooth operation.
=====================
f. QUESTION: Can you please tell me how I can recognize if the javabed and OperaMini versions that come with your ROM are the ones running on my device now? On JustStable v2 first release, you recall that Opera Mini was broken... so in those few days i had installed a cab file that loaded a different instance of that app... Then you released this V2 build 4, and I have just presumed that when this ROM was installed, it is linking up your javabed and Opera Mini... QUESTION: Under Start menu > Programs .... in all prior versions, you had a folder named "Apps" -- and inside that was the esmeretic javabed that calls opera mini. .... in Build 4, what I see now is no "Apps" folder, but instead a folder named "JAVA" all in caps, and inside it are two things: esmeretic java, and OperaMini .... In all prior versions OperaMini was not located here. This is why I am asking these questions. I am trying to see if there is any unintentional linking of your new build's javabed with that other version of OperaMini I had installed onot my storage card?
===========
This is everything I can think of at moment... I have screen shots I will post later that show the font size chnages I made (I did not attempt to alter the Notifications screen or registry at all, since I have adjusted to it being as is, which looks great.)
any help in troubleshooting WHAT KINDS OF THINGS could create interferences in ROMS basic performance? all would be appreciated, thanks!

You might be dead on about this. Fonts are HUGE memory hogs, even on a real windows computer. All Fonts are loaded into memory automatically at startup.
I include:
HelveticaNeue LT 35 Thin.ttf
tahomabd.ttf
wingding.ttf
tahoma.ttf
cour.ttf
All that takes about 612kb.
c. I also loaded up quite a lot of cabs, whenever possible installed to SD card, which is 8gigs. Here is what is currently showing up as a folder in my device Programs Directory, despite my selection to install on SD card:

Some things DO show in the programs folder, due to the programs themselves being hard headed and not liking being linked from the windows folder (and this wastes space as there will always be a copy in the windows folder. I gotta work on that part, too. I forgot about the new googlemaps's hardcoding.)
The only programs you listed that would cause problems are PCMKeyboard and S2U2 since they are the only ones that load in memory. Try the font removal first, though.
The certificates is also mine, but that's going away in build 6. It's not really useful nor does it affect the system negatively.
The Windows media player is normal.
d. I also, in order to use the HTC Home music tab with Audio Manager, installed an audiomanager today plugin.. but this has always been realllllly slow to bring up the music player when I am on Music tab within HTC Home. This might be the RAM issue. So check those fonts again.

I switched to a new Java system and OperaMini. No worries, it will always call from the cooked stuff, not from the SD.

tahomabd.ttf

ah HAH... so this could be the culprit. There are some that I still have not been able to remove. I searched high and low for methods to delete windows files, and there were only 2 methods: (a) renaming the extension to .BAK -- then trying to delete. THIS worked on 90% of the added fonts that i later removed... and again, the problem went away after they were deleted. and (b) creating a text file outside that folder -- saved as the exact name of the file you want to delete, then copying it into the windows folder to overwrite the larger file with that name.
Despite these 2 methods, there are still some .TTF files I see which are not on your list, and ones that I want to delete, but can't seem to do it:
• HelveticaNeueOTS.TTS ... 119.7k (separate from your version of LT 35, which is 86.3k )
• wingding.ttf ... (don't ask why... i just dragged a bunch of ttf fonts onto my device when i was experimenting with Menu bar and Popup display sizes) ...@ 79.1k
• some mystery font called HATTEN.ttf @ 99.2k -- can't get rid of this.
• Calibri.ttf (I think this is the PC version, vs the PPC version, because Calibri is one of the very highly recommended replacement system fonts for windows mobile -- so i might have, in my bad experiement of moving PC files to PPC, overwritten the small font file with the large one -- it is 344.4k
---- okay, i just used the textfile trick and overwrote HATTEN.ttf with a 1k text file of same name, and it took. SO I have now succeeded at getting rid of all the unwanted fonts... but still not sure about HelveticaNeueOTS.TTS --- that for sure is not yours, correct?
---- and tell me the practical impact of, let's say 3MB of saved space ... I know your objective is always shaving down. In the realm of these devices, 3MB makes a sizable difference in memory for multiple apps running? I think maybe I just have never comprehended what 3MB really adds or subtracts... it *seems* like a trivial amount to me, but in the relam of PPC device, are you saying that it actually delivers practical value in eliminating even these amounts?

Just realized I missed that section:
hmm... Does it work fine before installing anything? This one eludes me... I'll need to mess around with it. What did you have the gesture set up to do?
It's really no different than the actions you can set up in Wktask to "tap & hold" vs tap, and the various assignments you can make for those conditionals. The other thing allowed, which enables that "OK" button to have so many multi-functions (which I think is brilliant on the part of the WKtask app developer), is:
drag horizontally from the okay button to the left, just a bit -- to which I have assigned "Launcher" (WKtask launcher)
and
drag vertically from okay button - to which I have assigned "Horizontal-Vertical rotate" (or whatever the similar choice is to that phrase).
It has always worked flawlessly.
====
I'll tell you one more variable I forgot to say, which preceeded all these problems from last night:
I was using a screen capture app called CapSure -- which I like very much. It can be set to countdown 5 seconds, then snap a screenshot, then continue shooting screenshots every X seconds, for a mamximum of XX shots.
Depending on which application I am trying to document via screenshot, these either work very smoothly, or, with troublesome apps like that damn HTC audio manager plug in, there would be these huge delays of a minute or two, where you can't tell which event is delaying the screen shot from firing -- the opening of the audio manager app, or some conflict with a next-in-queue timed screen shot with the opening of the app.
Anyway, it is after several hours of trying this over and over again to try to document certain screens which simply look good and I have wanted to show, that these two problems occurred: (a) the intermittent problems with the Screen rotatation redraw (it's working fine right now, and I can't tell you why), and (b) the failure of certain WKtask events... most notably, in launching that App (even though it is already running), in order to access WKtask prefs, I have to launch that app -- and when you launch it, it gives you ther soft screen option bottom right [MENU] ... and in this intermittent problem now, I invoke that app, and the [MENU] thing doesn't display -- which means that something is interfering with the whole prefs thing.
I hope these details are useful to you. I am guessing that with years of cooking, you have figured out little sequential things that can actually screw up or disable a function. Those are the things I am trying to figure out.
**** But you say you are releasing a justSTable v2, build 6 ?
Is it just for some more minor little things here and there, or did you discover something that warrants a new build. I was crossing my fingers that V2 build 4 would be the last ROM installation I do for 6 mopnths to ayear, seriously. (as I have said ad nauseum ... :)

Just as a quick answer to the build question (with a customer right now so I can't give you a full answer on the other things atm)
I keep releasing new builds mostly because there are new MS builds to build upon and to fix minor issues. Sometimes I will do it for major issues. In this case, it's based off a newer MS build and it has a few minor fixes.
I gotta get with you and figure out an easier way for you to reconfigure your device. That's why I offered making you a ROM at one time. I don't think I could handle having to reconfigure everything from scratch every time I flashed. I like being able to hard reset and have everything automatically set up.

This is why to me SASHIMI might be the kind of thing I *can* invest in that pays me dividends of beimng able to reconfigure my phone hopefully really easily. Please email me or PM me or reply here what I should do about taking you up on some form of offer to help me with customization. thanks and have good weekend. didn't know you worked weekend.
PM sent.

I just switched from Ttran's OTP 7.x to JustStable and so far I like it. However, I am having a problem loading a program for my work. After the software installs on the phone it syncronizes itself with the same software I have on my pc. During the syncing I get the following error:
'System.Data.SqlServerce, Version = 3.3.3600.0, Culture = neutyral, PublicKeyToken = 3BE235DF1C8D2AD3', or one of its dependencies was not found,
I googled that same error and everything I am finding is so over my head, I have no idea what they are talking about. Everything I found talks to developers in developer lanague that I can't understand. Any help would be appreciated. I would contact my work support but the Wing stock specs don't meet their min requirements so they don't support the phone.

Are you the same guy from JustHome? Either way, it sounds like my ROM is missing the SQLserverCE that is needed. I don't install it by default. You can download and install it by searching for it. Although, I MIGHT include it in the next build, as I am doing with JustHome...

I found this site http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=38ED2670-A70A-43B3-87F3-7AB67B56CBF2&displaylang=en which once installed on the pc, there is a folder with the cabs for the phone they are found in c/program files/micosoft sql server compact edition/v3.5/devices/wce500/armv4i. There are 9 cab fiels and 7 dll files. But I am not sure which cab/dll file I need to install. All of them or just a few. Any ideas...programing is not my forte.

I got impaitent and went ahead an installed all the cabs. All but 2 gave me a message that they were already installed and that the old would be removed before the new was installed. I chose Ok to this message to have the old removed and new installed. After doing all 9 cabs and a restart I still have the error. Not sure what is going on. attached is a .txt file i found on the phone and it looks like it is an error log. Does this make any sense to anyone.

Looks like you tried to install NETCF not SQLceMobile. Install SQLCeMobile. That's what your program is asking you for.

If anyone wants to get MMS set up, go HERE (http://thewingster.com/arcsoftmms.aspx)

Just wondering why the directions tell you to install the Arcsoft cab and then the MMS cab. I remember reading on page 6 that Arcsoft cab is all you need to install. Someone please explain thank you

Because when you install Arcsoft, the connection settings aren't automatically set up. If you want the settings to be configured for you, then you install the T-Mobile GPRS and MMS cab thing. Then MMS should be working out of the box.
When I tried setting up MMS, I had to install the MMS cab for it to work, so I made the instructions based off of what I had to do. Wait, did you install just the Arcsoft cab and MMS worked??

nope. followed your directions except I skipped the GPRS cab because I assumed that it would be unsuccessful anyway. I was just curious as to why there were so many cabs. MMS is now apart of my ROM when I go to the messaging section, THANKS! :D

Ok, please forgive me for this seemingly simple question. But I have been searching ALL day long, and I have been trying everything I have found in hopes that it might work. But how do I get the MMS to work on this ROM?
I have tried every version of ArcSoft that I can possible find, along with other MMS configurations that have been available for download on this site. The latest ArcSoft version I have is 5.0.31.19 and I have tried .7, .13 and numerous other ones as well. Neither one will work. I have tried "missing .dll" files and I am simply at a loss now.
Can someone please help me?

I was able to sync using earlier versions of JustStable (albeit sporadically). Any help wold be appreciated. Activesync troubleshooting is totally useless.
Thanks,

The reason Ivan uses 7zip compression is because it's one of the best around, fast, and free.
Get it here for Windows machines (http://www.7zip.com/) (no Mac version, but Stuffit Expander works to unstuff a 7zip file):

Under whose authority was permission granted to Ivan to "take some time off"? I have reason to believe you are Fake-Ivan posting to deceive us. Ivan NEVER takes time off. That is why his wife has kicked him out of the house. But Ivan's priorities are him ROMS, and thus anything or anyone coming between him and his cooked ROMS is going to have to deal with me - and I am in contact with Real-Ivan, aka JustIvan.

I use UL and LOADS of today plugins and this is ridiculous, 23+ RAM after all my plugs are installed AND running at the same time!! geez
So, plz, i would like toget this running on MY Tmobile Wing IF possible, thx alot Ivan

Do you mean to say "MMS"? You keep on saying "sms" which are text messages, and which should probably work instantly. So, I think you're talking about "MMS", picture messages, right???

Well did you even follow the instructions on this page: http://thewingster.com/arcsoftmms.aspx
Sounds like you only downloaded the T-Mobile MMS cab from step 3, and you completely skipped step 1, downloading the Arcsoft MMS cab. Arcsoft MMS is the actual MMS program, the T-Mobile MMS cab is just for automatically configuring your MMS settings. If you followed the steps on the page I linked and it's still not working, then tell me and I'll see what I can do.

Any version can be themed. There is not a version that's unthemeable. The problem may arise from the fact that it's cooked into the windows folder, not the default folder. Just drop your themed png's and stuff into the windows folder. It should pick it up automatically.

You can't with the default file manager. It doesn't have the required permissions. Use a third party manager or copy the files through activesync.
As far as plugins go: No, there aren't. Sorry. (It's closed sourced by HTC.)

there was a website during the dotcom boom, digiscents (http://edition.cnn.com/2008/BUSINESS/08/23/digital.scents/index.html) , that had this as their business proposition... So it's not like this has to be re-invented.

Wouldn't this disable the TouchFLO interface enhancements? (You'll have to use the scroll bar on most things.)

My experience is that the scrolling is smoother en better responding. The scroll bar is working normal.
Why was .NET 3.5 disabled in REG?. After enable it, the performance is much better. Opening programs, scrolling on todayscreen, all work much faster.

It shouldn't be disabled. Besides, the newest build (which I haven't released) has .NET3.7 in it.

Last night I was playing some music over bluetooth stereo when my battery died. When I plugged my phone back into power, I couldn't get bluetooth to work and the phone was really slow. I reset and now the bluetooth light 'strobes' with no connectivity until I turn it off.
Any suggestions - should I re-flash or does this look like a hardware issue?

Are you HardSPLed? If you don't know what HardSPL is, then you haven't HardSPLed your phone yet, and therefore, you cannot use the Micro version. You can, however, use the normal version of JustStable and flash it through the Flash Center, you can find the normal version, screenshots, and instructions here: http://thewingster.com/juststable.aspx
If you are HardSPLed, then tell me, and I'll see if I can find anything on fixing the problem.

Ok so you are sure you HardSPLed? Because phones don't come HardSPLed, you have to flash a special ROM to make it that way. If you are sure, then continue:
All you have to do to flash the Micro version that you want is to drag the downloaded ROM file into the root of your storage card (the file is called HERAIMG.nbh)
Then you hold down your camera button and press the soft reset button. Continue holding the camera button until a new screen appears.
Once on the next screen, it should ask you to press any key, well press down on the volume slider there, just do it.
It should start flashing and it'll work! If it fails, then your storage card is probably too large. If so, ask me once again.
Those instructions should do it for you! (hopefully its all spelled right, I wrote it from my phone!)
Ask for more help always.

DUDE, it's gonna be way easier just to flash the normal JustStable version, especially since you're a newb. Please just start with the normal version. Then once you gain more experience with flashing, you could then HardSPL.
JustStable Normal Verison (http://thewingster.com/juststable.aspx) You've got nice instructions there too. Just do that please. HardSPLing is a little tricky, and unless you need the Micro JustStable version, it's wayy better to just go with the normal version.

But if it is failing, then that means that your storage card is too large or your phone's SPL version is under 4. How large is your storage card? Oh and storage card MUST be formatted in FAT32 for it to work.

See, you should have asked us. We can get your MMS working with some simple steps. It's something called Arcsoft MMS (http://thewingster.com/arcsoftmms.aspx). Most custom ROM's don't ever include MMS because it's tough to make it work for everyone. Therefore, you have to install it yourself. You can get it and install it on that link: http://thewingster.com/arcsoftmms.aspx And I have instructions on the page there too. Follow the instructions. If that doesn't work, then there's another thing you can try. You should have told us about needing MMS first, we could have helped.

V18 is mostly just an update to the 23001 build.
Build8 had a lot of internal changes, but I can't remember any of them since I did them a long time ago...
This is the last build of either. I'm moving on to a new project. (The new project will have both wm6.5 and 6.1.)
As far as the MMS not working, it works for everyone, so it must be something small you're overlooking, unfortunately. You installed Arcsoft then installed the tmobile data cab or ran the network wizard?
EDIT: They're both LZX but flashable through the Flash Center due to their large size. (JUST big enough to fit the flash center.)

Oops... that wasn't supposed to be included... It worked last time I used it, but I didn't mean for it to be included in the ROM. (That would explain the extra girth of the ROM. lol)
What's the problem that it's giving you? Not starting up or giving you an error?

Idk. That's what happened that time. Maybe it's just being a little weird for me. Or maybe it's like how some ppl liked the v13 of JustHome while others loved the v18 version.
Oh and one time the text box for SMS was cut off too. Build 8 of JustStable has been glitchy like that for me. I don't think it's cuz of Opera Mobile, but possibly removing that would help things. Going to sleep, I'll respond in the morning...

I ended up keeping JustStable because it has a contact page where I can store all my most frequently used numbers and call them up by touch. This is especially handy when I am driving.
I tried to install the micro version as well, but I just couldn't make it work.

That's because the Micro version is LZX Compressed. That means that you must be HardSPLed and then flash through your storage card.
Becomingi HardSPLed is a process, similar to flashing a ROM, but only do it if you are somewhat experienced and have some time on your hands (up to an hour).
I could help you do that if you'd like.

Yea Ivan, JustStable slowed down on me greatly once again, I had to do a hard-reset once again. I can't really identify what caused the slow down, but it's done it twice. I like the Micro more right now, but just focus on ur SuperKitchen and release a great release from that.

Yep, I completely stopped development on JustStable and JustHome.
I might release a SJKStable and a SJKHome, or I might only release the kitchen itself (which I'll be doing either way.)
I figured that the new ROM will be more stable from the start, since it's not based on stuff that I have been patching up for years, but instead from scratch with much more knowledge than I started out with. No more patching up. No more worries about having to clean up. It's new from scratch.

My phone is HardSPLed already. Thanks.
I kind of highly doubt that your phone is already HardSPL. The phone doesn't come HardSPLed, you have to spend like 30 minutes making your phone HardSPLed.
So did you actually make your phone HardSPLed?? I was helping someone else who said that they were HardSPLed, and they insisted that they were, when after all, they weren't.
But, if you are HardSPLed, then you MUST flash the Micro version (or any LZX compressed version) through your storage card.
Format your SD card to FAT32. If you have a larger storage card (over 4GB) then you might have to partition it so it's smaller. Do that if you have any errors flashing.
Once formatted (remember, formatting erases everything on the card), place the downloaded ROM file (.nbh) somewhere in the storage card. Re-name it HERAIMG.nbh if it already isn't. (don't actually write in the ".nbh", that's just an extention)
Put the SD card into your phone
On your phone (with it booted up), hold down the Camera button. While holding the camera button, press and release the Soft Reset button with your stylus. Keep holding that camera button until you see a new screen appear.
A white screen with blue letters should appear, asking you something like, "Do you want to flash this ROM" or whatever. To say yes, you slide down the volume slider once. You have to slide the volume slider down within 10 seconds though.
Let it sit for like 10 minutes. It'll seem like it's stuck and it's not getting anywhere, but don't do anything, just let it finish!
Once finished, it will say "Success, Press Any Key". Go ahead and press down on that volume slider. Then a color screen shows up. Just hold down your power button to turn off your phone, and then turn your phone back on, and you'll be using the new ROM!
Some other things:
Formatting is done on your computer. To format, put your SD card into your computer, then go to Start -> Computer. Find your SD card there, right click it, and then click Format... Once on the formatting screen, pick a size for your SD card (if you have a card larger than 4GB, you might want to pick a size under 4GB, if possible). Now under the File System drop down menu, select FAT32. Leave everything else as is, and click Start. Now it should be formatted for you to flash with!
Formatting into FAT32 will still let your phone use the SD card like normal
Partitioning is a little more tricky, you need extra software to do it, I believe. If the flashing proccess fails and you have a large SD card, then you'll have to partition it.
Make sure you only have one file named HERAIMG.nbh in your SD card. You can have other ROM files on your card, but they have to be named differently. Only name the one ROM that you want to flash as HERAIMG.
Hope that helps! Questions, just ask.

I think it may be something with QuickMenu. (Try adding quickmenu to any ROM and see if the bug appears.)

It happened to me also - two or three times. I was suspecting Exchange Server connection, but it didn't help simply to remove it. I had to Hard-Reset to get it back to normal. Sashimi makes it a little less painful but it's still half-manual.

I am using the Juststable Micro edition. Wonderful ROM.
Bluetooth pairs well with my Jabra SP700, Moto 820 and my laptops.
However, I am having significant trouble trying to get voice dialing to work over bluetooth. Note - voice command itself works fine when launched from the phone itself
Have tried searching the forums and installed numerous revisions of the following
- Cyberon Voice Dialer(s). Dopod edition, others
- MS Voice Command
- Jetaware Bluetooth extension module hack as suggested in the forum.
- Hacked registry settings for the OEM\VoiceCommand
Nothing has worked. Has anyone been successful making this run on the Juststable Micro?
Thanks in advance

Ivan, remember the days when you used to cook in a little app that let you choose which web browser to open a link with? It'd open a right-click menu on a link, you know?
Do you remember the name of that app? I'd like it.

I used that one on one of my unreleased ROMs. It was great, especially if you used MortButtons with it as it gave you a visual UI. But it had too many options for a base ROM so I decided to go with something simpler.

You have a huge button on your phone. Right next to the "End" button.
I doubt you could increase the size of the on-screen button. That would require the entire taskbar's size to be increased.
Just use your physical button, it's wayy easier.

Nope, it only minimizes. You can configure it to close the app, however.
And sometimes, it'll actually close the program, depending on how much RAM your phone has left, I think.

i find this far more usefull, if all programs only minimized memory would be full pretty damn quickly wouldnt it.

Well then Ivan set up JustStable to close automatically, since you can minimize using the top bar, like on a real Windows desktop.
You can change settings in Start -> Settings -> System -> Task Manager, and then on the Button tab. See if it's already set to end programs.
But yea, it seems like the physical button only minimizes. I bet someone wrote an app to make it close, maybe.
And it's not a problem having programs minimized. Not at all. If the phone is running low on RAM, then it just closes inactive programs. Not a problem at all.

Hey ace, you would know this, since I know Ivan is off in Android land.
About 6-8 weeks ago I settled on a JustStable public release so that I could then go about customizing my phone, and shoot some videos of various configurations, usages of various apps. But now I am ready to install whatever the last version of JustStable you recommend, then go through the pain of reinstalling everything.
While I was off doing my thing, I stopped monitoring the details of this thread. But I recall one or two things from email notifications that were noted as "not as good as in version xx" ...
So, if I go to, eh-HEHM, www.JustIvan.com , which JustStable is the last that everyone was happy with?
Also, I am assuming it is still true that Ivan's "JustHome" versions, though great and stable, do not provide as much free space as JustStable, so as to handle my multi-tasking needs:
always open: iContact, OperaMini, Nitrogen Audio Player, notes... adding Google Maps, audio notes, Total COmmander etc.
I ask because, whenever I am at this stage, whatever new I flash to I am committing to for a while, until the day I learn to preserve and restore all settings easily (i.e. use Sashimi, which still is too complicated for me)
thx!

Follow the instructions there. Once installed, you can go to your Settings, and then I think it's System. Then there's a Task Manager icon or something like that. You can go over a few tabs in that settings page and decide if you wanna close programs by tapping and holding or just tapping. Got it?

adam, adding my 2 cents:
Ivan has a reputation similiar to Aserg's -- impeccable, best of breed.
Ivan started this project in February of this year, and he was insistent upon making it the best WING/HERALD ROM ever... He had made barebone minimal ROMS before, but his intent this time was to select carefully the absolute "must have" apps, and nothing more -- enabling people to add whatever they want later as cabs.
As he developed, he had tons of user feedback.
It spent months in BETA, before Ivan released it to alpha.
By the time he had a public release, it was June. This ROM is as good as it gets for multi-tasking on a WING with its older processor and limited RAM.
Here is my latest video showing some facets of this ROM in action, including running two audio players at same time, along with google maps, iContact, iFonz app launcher, and several other apps. It's quite an amazing achievement.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GSKCnWUoic
And rarely do I say something this ridiculous, but I will in this case: YOU WOULD BE A NUTJOB to not flash this rom immediately! And just so you know, it's been asked and answered numerous times. As of right now, the 6.5 ROMS, as great as they are, are not as efficient as THIS rom (windows 6.1). This one is faster and leaves you more ram. period.

Ace, your writeups are great, and very helpful. ... And yet I did not know until you say so above that you can flash & run Ivan's roms without having Hard-SPL'd your phone. Since I have already hard-spl'd a year ago, this is not an issue for me. But I would like to make a suggestion:
Given that most people don't (I SURELY DIDN'T) have any idea what Hard-SPL is, yet they then see it being mentioned all over the various forums as an important precaution or necessary step to run certain ROMs, I think it would be helpful in your write-ups re REQUIREMENTS FOR FLASHING, to explicitly state:
DOES NOT REQUIRE Hard SPL to use this ROM
It takes any quandary out of the equation and makes it bullet-proof clear that either YES, you must Hard SPL, or NO, you do not need to hard SPL. because most people have no idea, at the start, what Flash Center is, or what RUU is, or all these other esoteric things.
You're already overworked as is, and I really value the website you have created and are updating... At some point in the future it would be nice to have someone develop an icon system that quickly communicates requirements for flashing any given ROM, with one such icon representing: Hard-SPL YES, Hard-SPL Not Necessary.
my 2 cents and a half.

At some point in the future it would be nice to have someone develop an icon system that quickly communicates requirements for flashing any given ROM, with one such icon representing: Hard-SPL YES, Hard-SPL Not Necessary.
my 2 cents and a half.
I do somewhat explain that, in the "Features" list of every ROM. If you look on the LZX ROM's, you'll notice that there's no "How to Flash" link! That implies that you should research it yourself on how to flash that version, because it requires HardSPL, flashing through SD, etc.
But on any ROM's that have the "How to Flash" link, there's not really any pre-requisites, except for having a SPL and IPL greater than 4, which I think all T-Mobile phones have that. So when you click on that link, it is implied that you don't have to do any extra stuff like HardSPL.
I never wrote instructions on flashing the LZX versions, because that would require me to explain how to HardSPL the phone, and I didn't wanna bother with that!
But if I have time, I might write up a nice guide on HardSPL, flashing through SD, etc, so that the LZX ROM's get a How to Flash link.
So quicksite, you're using JustStable still, aren't you? Me and another user found that Build 8 was highly unstable. Are you using that build?

So is the final version of JustStable is completely stable, vs. the unstability of JustStable V2, which is still having the kinks worked out? I'm currently running the ASerg.12.W61E.WWE ROM, which although old, is extremely stable. For anyone familiar with ASerg ROM, is JustStable (the first version) as stable of a ROM as the ASerg ROM?
Also, if you Hard Spl your phone once, does it stay with the phone, or do you have to run the Hard Spl procedure each time you flash a ROM?
Thanks,

I stopped working on JustStable V2 a while ago. I think Build 4 was the last "stable" release. JustStable V1 is very stable. JustStable V2 is nicer and still pretty stable until I got to the newer builds...

Are you familiar with the ASerg.12.w61 ROM? That one is very stable. He stop making ROMs for Wings after this ROM, so it is pretty archaic. In your opinion, which one of these two ROMS, Juststable V1, or JustStable V2 build 4, will give me less problems?
Thanks alot,
