My wife and I both currently have HTC Vogues from Alltel running NFSFAN's v6.5 rom and I was curious if we should now, or if not now then when, flash to the Verizon version of a rom due to the Alltel-Verizon merger.

Thanks in advance for your responses...

Maybe wait till its the "new" Verizon?

But really, you should wait till someone more experienced comes by. After all, I am a Canadian user. :P

Stick with Alltel ROM's for now. They have not completely merged their PRL's and won't completely be integrated for another 6-12 months. Verizon had to sell off some of Alltel and they recently swapped some former Alltel territories with Att due to antitrust regulations so Alltel phones and Verizon phones continue to be slightly different. The only full integration they've done is their billing systems. Hope this helps

if you flash to verizon, you will get billed as if you have a pay as you go plan.
If you go in or call in and fully switch to verizon,
then you can go ahead and flash to verizon no problem.
But if you haven't switched to verizon,
which you personally have to call in and switch over,
which is basically resign a 2 year contract with them.
Not even sure if you can go into the store or not.

You should only switch to Verizon ROM until after your Market transitions into Verizon, Currently there are only a couple of Markets that have transitioned. Keep your Plan if you are happy with it. Remember that if you change to Verizon willingly they Can charge you for overages on DATA. Since you have a custom Rom already you don't have to worry about it anyway since that has already been " FIXED" but As a Alltel user myself I would recommend that you only change to a Verizon rom until the User name and password change to mdn@vzw3g.com as opposed to MDN@alltel.net. You have an open based rom and unlocked phone so its the same thing. You should look out for NEW prls out there, currently 40049 is the most current, there will be more coming out real soon that will allow better usage of the Verizon Network, full data coverage as opposed to voice and some data only. Hope this helps
