Gen.Y D2 series: "Bringing the Diamond2 experience to the Diamond"

This ROM is as close to D2 stock as possible (minimal customization). It's based mostly on a mix of Diamond 2.11 ROM with Rhodium stock OEM, but also with new stuff from Topaz and Tachi.
The main goal is to provide a ROM that's stable, has the full D2 experience, and good battery life + memory usage.

This is for the those who are not happy with the 5 min autosnooze. Basicly, this will replace the new manila notification bubbles with old wm6.1 style bubbles, and give u the option to choose how much minutes you want to snooze a reminder.

Gen.Y Disable Manila Start Menu R2
This cab will disable Manila Start Menu and revert to the old WM6.1 menu. In addition to that, the programs tab in TF3Dv2 will be activated.

Gen.Y Enable Push Internet R2
Push Internet is disabled by default to save RAM, you can enable it by installing the attached cab, but be aware that this will keep Opera runnings in the background.

Gen.Y VolumeControl 1.6.18182826.1
For those that are experiencing incall volume control problems, please install this cab. This will revert to the (older) original diamond volume control, but be advised that you will lose single/dual option support.

Why don't pictures rotate in album when i turn my screen?
The new album v3 doesn't rotate the picture based on orientation, instead it just chooses the optimal orientation and fills the screen. However the menu (and gestures) will rotate based on orientation.

How can I disable keyboard vibration?
Touch Input Settings > UnCheck Vibrate

How can I disable Manila Tabs vibration?
Go to Settings > System > TouchFLO
Uncheck Vibration box

You need to have a registry editor for this one. Find the following key and change it's value:

What is User Customization (UC) ?
UC allows you to install all your apps automatically at first boot during customisation. For more information see this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366337).
To do this, you need to place an sdconfig.txt in Internal Storage that tells UC what to do, here's my example (please not that i'm using an NLD rom, which is why it says Intern Geheugen instead of Internal Storage):

How can enable the Manila Messaging interface when tapping on an incoming SMS?
The Gen.Y Sense 2.1 Classic SMS mod is included, so all you need to do is flip the registry switch:

- Use G-Alarm (http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=galarm/about) instead of the standard alarm, its much much better

- Even with all optimizations, the memory leak in Windows Mobile can never be completely fixed, that's why having CleanRAM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=514333) on your device a very good idea

- You can use Touch Incall Screen Tweak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=488991) to make your screen automatically turn on / turn the speaker on etc. based on g-sensor orientation during a call

- For the Lock, u should try the latest version of Slide2Unlock2 (S2U2) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=527523) or ThrottleLock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419525), i attached a cab that installs my Android-Topaz skin (based on the Pre-Android theme (http://www.throttlelauncher.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1098) by akirasport).

are you talking about the Enable Push Internet cab? It doesn't install any files, only changes something in the registry, so it should work on all roms

Okay I've tested it and I have to say that this rom comes very close to the new manila. My brother has a topaz so it's great to see there are hardly any differences. It's pretty stable but not very fast. Boot time seems to be shorter. Great rom, and as said before; the phonecanvas isn't fully working, but i'm very glad with what the devs' here on XDA already have done. Great rom!

And if you run XBMods "show.program tab.cab" you will get the previous start menu tab back as a Manila Tab where it usually resides. Just dont get confused by the names. Start menu in this context is the program tab that comes up when you press "Start". So by hiding start menu you actually enable regular windows start menu.

Only issue I have is that in speaker phone mode the volume is really low. I have Tachi new dialer installed to perhaps it may be related to this rather than your ROM.

I had that problem too with this ROM only, although for me it was with Windows V7. Tried everything to get it to sync outlook with no joy. I surmised it was because post flash I did not set correct timezone and time manually & activesync could not resolve the disparity. (Lately I have been lazy letting the sync process fix this.) Re flashed ROM, set correct time manually and active sync worked properly.

Your cab partially works fine in doing what it claims -however- after you have installed it and rebooted - vist the newly created programs tab then use the slider to go to any of the other tabs. You will find that the "All Programs" and "Remove" softkeys from the programs tab stick and display on all tabs :eek:
Running the Showaco All programs cab as I mentioned a few posts back (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3891869#post3891869) fixes this and unlocks the soft keys. If so: when you go to the programs tab and press an application to start, does the start menu drop down? Because that's what happening to me. Very strange.

The programs bar sticking has also been pointed out here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3526829). I will incorporate this fix in the next build no worries.

For some that are having ActiveSync problems, i'm using activesync as well, but be sure to sync AFTER customization and AFTER you have set your time right, or else conflicts may occur.
The phone sets its time automatically for the first time after you enter your pin code, or if u don't have a pin code, at the first start.

About the reception, i have not encountered such problems, which radio version are you using? Perhaps u should try updating the radio, i'm using v1.09.25.23

I found that on the bluetooth setting using comm manager, the back and advanced soft keys have no effect when pressed. Also, after my bluetooth headset is paired, i got a notification IN SIMPLIFIED CHINESE saying that the stereo bluetooth headset is connected...

When you flashed the ROM, did you made a hard reset right after install?? did you also flashed a stock ROM before you flashed this ROM?? That should also help avoiding things like this f.e freezing/unexpected behaviour

I dont have any issues at the moment...running the NLD version:D

give it a shot...try to flash a stock ROM first, than install Gen.Y and as soon as you see the welcome screen to start your device, make a hardreset...after that you should be fine;)

2) Yes, it is fixed in this ROM.

Guys this rom is almost perfect, just 2 bugs found:
1) Manila Start menu has to be disabled by the provided cab, it causes a lot of problems: during normal use it freezes the phone, and after a reset the phone hangs up at the bootscreen. Had to hard reset many times before discovering what the real problem was. Installed the cab and everything is working fine now.
2) In the usb popup, when choosing internet sharing, it says the link is incorrect.

My list of bugs:

World Clock - Menu button doesn't do nothing.
Sound Volume - If you put the system volume to higher levels the sound is completely distorted and over loud. Speaker and Headphones.
Comm Manager, Bluetooth - Back and Advanced buttons don't react.
Programs Tab - The cabs to make it appear and to put the Start button back to windows default don't work properly. It does goes to normal but when we press a program icon the Start Menu appears... Very annoying.

My list of desired tweaks:

Make the next version with NO Start Manila.. It's so unnatural to use, as we are all used to have a Programs tab and to use just the slider to access all phone options.
Make the Home tab have the right softkey to "Programs".

I attached a new fixed cab (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521941) to disable start menu that is based on Showaco's All_Programsv4.1 3ICON (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3387966) cab.

Here's the deal about the Start Menu:
Manila Start Menu Enabled = Working perfectly
Disable Manila Start Menu = NOT working (programs tab soft keys stick)

Manila Start Menu Enabled + Showaco All Programs cab = NOT working (no start menu soft keys)
Disable Manila Start Menu + Showaco All Programs cab = Working perfectly

So basicly, the ROM will be without Showaco's cab and Manila Start Menu enabled (as it's intended to be as close to Diamond2 as possible), but if u want to disable the manila start menu, the cab will also install showaco's all programs 3 icon cab.

Also here's what i've done so far:
Changelog R1.1

Sorry but it still shows Start Menu when we press on a program icon. Not on all of them.

Example so you can test:

Install the fixed cab.
Reboot device
Go to Programs tab

If you open Calculator or any other added program: All OK
If you open People, Home, Settings: It goes to that Tab but the Start Menu opens!
This is really not important as the 3 icons mentioned are not used by most...

I really wish someone teach me to make the right softkey in Home tab to have "Programs"...

Also just found that Solitaire doesn't work.

Awesome ROM.. Was always looking forward to TF3D2, as I kinda like the new start menu.
Anyways, can anyone point me to a latest official phone canvas (with slide to answer and video calling) ? Video telephony is something I need right now. I got one Swtos cab, but it's kinda old, without slide to answer.

Also, Is there a prog to switch the taskbar notification list to the original diamond one with big icons? The only reason why I dont like the new notification list is because it's simply slow is loading.

Testing this rom since yesterday. All my programs works fine, the rom is stable and fast. Its a bit memory hungry but what Manilla2 rom isnt it?

I still have one problem which appears on the roms with topaz phone canvas. connection setup starts but does not find my country operator, romania orange. it takes me to manual setup, I set up connections corectly but after every restart connection setup starts again and has the same error. I thinh I should install connection setup.cab but I can't find it. please yozgatg can you share the cab you used in your rom? thanks

Sorry but it still shows Start Menu when we press on a program icon. Not on all of them.

Example so you can test:

Install the fixed cab.
Reboot device
Go to Programs tab

If you open Calculator or any other added program: All OK
If you open People, Home, Settings: It goes to that Tab but the Start Menu opens!
This is really not important as the 3 icons mentioned are not used by most...

I really wish someone teach me to make the right softkey in Home tab to have "Programs"...

Also just found that Solitaire doesn't work.

i can't fix those 3 buttons, if u're using the programs tab you'll just have to delete them
and solitaire is also fixed in 1.1

Everything seems to be working perfect for me except for one really big problem.. :\ I can't seem to get the File Explorer to open. Actually, I remember I managed to open it once after a few unsuccessful attempts at opening the start menu and running the shortcut, but it's never happened again since then.

I don't understand why it seems like I'm the only one with this problem too, since I haven't seen anyone else bring this up. I've just finished flashing the ROM and hard reset it three times. Then, after I found the issue, I did another soft reset and hard reset for safe measure, but without any luck on either try. Is it really just me?


edit: Actually, scratch that.. sort of. I found out the solution. Apparently File Explorer doesn't run if it's set to one of the first three shortcut spaces in the Start Menu on the first row lol. Little odd, but whatever.

can anyone confirm whether push internet works in the german version?i've set the schedule of some pages to 30 minutes but they do not get updated automatically. if i access them in opera the bookmark in tf3d gets a grey icon with an arrow afterwards, opera shows the "last updated..." - message but the pages don't get updated :'(

This is a really great ROM. The one problem I have is that when using Opera Mobile, the phone really heats. up. It's not the battery getting hot, but the actual phone itself. Beside the reported bugs, I have three issues:
1) I cannot sync (Active Sync) (but Internet Sharing is working)
2) The battery drain is tremendous - I can even watch the battery bar falling =(
3) Receiving files via bluetooth: you see the transmission in the taskbar and the notification center, but pressing the entry in the notification center does nothing.

Am I the only one with this problems? Any Fixes.

yozgatg I do have noticed one major issue in your roms, both in 1.0 and 1.1. This problem is pretty strange.
It happened to me, many times with 1.0 and once with 1.1, that soft resetting the device while an application is hung up, after the restart the diamond hard reset itself.
The last time with 1.1, I was downloading a file with opera, tried to go back from the download page to the web page and Opera hung up. Went back to Home with the Home button. Everything was working except opera that was still running in the background. I did a reset with the stylus and the device hard resetted itself.
With 1.0 it happened to me everytime I went to the Start menu (the Manila 2 one), and when going back to other manila tabs, the softkeys remained the ones of the start menu (Left: All programs - Right: Remove). At that point everytime I softresetted, the device did an hard reset. No programs installed.
I managed to install your cab going back to the original start menu, and removed the Programs tab in Manila with TF3D2 tweaks, and looks like everything is running fine, but I do have never experienced anything like this in any previous rom.
Now, whenever I need to soft reset, I power off the phone instead, and it doesn't hard reset in this way.
Other than this, your rom is the best I have ever had on my phone (came from your WM6.5 rom).

One question I am unable to download WEATHER or STOCKS via using the mobile network data connection, only when connected via WIFI. Has anyone else experienced this issue or have I missed something?

u can use advanced config to disable phone sleep during call,
or you could use Touch Incall Screen Tweak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=488991) to automaticly wake up your phone if u move it from your ear

ps i got some bad news, basicly the manila package i rebuilt had the time zone bug again, so i'm sorry to say i'm going to have to revert to the current version
events & updates tab will be added though, also the single stock view will be updated as well
another thing for R1.2 will hopefully be full support for video calling & conference calling (herg is working on porting the rhodium phonecanvas (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=499076&page=126), hopefully he'll get that done by next week)

@yozgatg: As I said, once I had enabled InternetSharing, the Option to choose whether i would like to use USB/ActiveSync/Internet Sharing is gone when I connect an USB-Cable is gone. Is there a way I can get that Option back (by deleting some registr entrys or so)? The option in Start-System-Connections-USBtoPC doesnt work

No it´s here too and on all other ROM wit new HTC Album!
I think it´s not a bug! In this new version of HTC Album the picture will not be rotated any more!
It rotates only the control buttons....... :cool:
For me personal doesn´t matter..........

I found 3 things:
- No Album Shortcut in the Programm list
- when customizing the Tabs im not able to scroll down after changing the order of the tabs
- e.g. in explorer the notifications have graphical issues

I was using Shaks 4.30 and although I'd tried lots of TF3D 2 roms, they always seemed to be crashing or the buglist was longer than my arm. Since I need the phone to be stable and usable, I always ended up back to Shaks.

Until now! This rom cleared up almost every complaint I have had with other roms and after 2 days it's been perfectly stable. Best of all, memory use is lower than I've ever seen. Great job all around.

If R1.2 clears up the last couple of minor bugs, a donation is definitely in order. Thanks again.

I was on it as well. I always ended up on Shaks, but this ROM gives me much more. Speed, stability, useful memory, etc. .....

ROM a few hours testing and found no significant errors. I can not wait for version 1.2, is to me almost perfect drive.

I am trying this ROM for second day, not very hard, no time at moment, there is one big problem: when I try to make in call volume to max, when it is going max, it decreases to min, and I cant to make it louder....
Only soft reset.

I just wanted to thank you. I think you are one of the few cooks using nataly as a basis. The nataly rom is really awesome. And your alterations are perfect. Im using RC 1 at the moment (havent had any problems) but will be upgrading to 1.1 this evening. I love your roms they look great and work perfectly. I think this is the best topaz rom out there. Thanks for this great rom (using NLD version), it's fast and stable, running for 2 days now, medium use, hardly any bugs. SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 running great, battery drain is acceptable.

BTW...had no problem syncing on Vista, but XP didn't connect untill i unticked the advanced network 'thingy' in USB connections.

u can use advanced config to disable phone sleep during call,
or you could use Touch Incall Screen Tweak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=488991) to automaticly wake up your phone if u move it from your ear



I did try the AdvConfig tweaks with 1.1 but the screen still went off :confused: I will give the other option a go, thanks for the info.

I've found a couple of problems that hopefully can be resolved for 1.2:
1. After removing and adding programs to the programs tab on Manila, the softkeys were stuck on "All Programs" and "Remove". I had to soft-reset for them to behave normally again.
2. On the notifications screen, after a text message or missed call, there is always an "Info" notification with "?????" shown. If I click on it, it just shows "?????".
3. There are also some issues with the dialer skin, but I don't think those are related to your ROM. For example, "Close" and "Dismiss All" buttons are cut off by the softkeys and don't seem to respond to presses. In the call log when you bring up the menu and dismiss it the buttons at the bottom are not repainted.

Otherwise great ROM. Thanks!

Found two.. :)
1. opera at internet tab wont show keyboard in landscape mode
2. when press setting in start menu it always goes to setting in manila tab, not setting with three tab (personal, setting, connectin), dunno if this normal or not

I am waiting for your rom v1.2. After using your 1.1 version, I should say that you have one of the most fast and stable roms. Hence will wait for the 1.2version. can you please add certain apps to your new version like syhrotime, shutxp, and use the ati d3d drivers for better and smoother games. Also if you could add chess game it would be fun. (this is my wish list)

Also in the original rom - on connect the phone will vibrate once. This was a very good feature, think it could be incorporated in your 1.2version

As far as I am concerned this rom has the perfect balance. All the really important software is included and there is plenty of memory left to install whatever you want after the fact.

As far as memory leaks go, mine seems to be fine. Yes, after some use it goes up to the low 70's, but it was exactly the same and sometimes worse in my TF3D 1 roms. That memory use is so low in a Topaz based rom is quite amazing.

i agree with you.

So far this rom is fast & stable except for those minor bugs.
of cause it will be better if chef to provide cab to fix the bugs,
instead of re-flashing rom again.

i doubt anyone will like to re-flash & re-configure their stuff.:p

yozgatg you could try integrating the new Opera Mobile 9.7 beta 1 in your rom for the next release. I just tested and its notable faster than 9.5.

The currently beta doesn't support smartwhell for zooming in Diamond. If there a way to enable this and haptic feedback this will definily be the perfect browser to your rom.

Thanks for this nice ROM.

I have encountered 2 bugs so far:
1- When I open Notes through the all programs list, it gives me this error message:

"Cannot open note. It has been renamed, moved, or deleted."

after I tap on Ok, the phone gives me the list of notes.

2- When I open Internet Sharing from the all programs list, I get the following error message:

"The file 'IntShr' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."

After I tap Ok, I can still use internet sharing. Not really a critical error, but it can be annoying.

But overall I'm very content with this ROM. Thanks!

Thanks for a great rom, cannot wait for 1.2 with all the remaining missing features, Events & Updates etc.
One question I am unable to download WEATHER or STOCKS via using the mobile network data connection, only when connected via WIFI. Has anyone else experienced this issue or have I missed something?

Issue with data connection settings not being received from O2 has been resolved by flashing with stock rom and re-flashing with R1.1.

I could not get on the internet or download the weather, then I looked at my connection settings. In connections, manage existing connections etc there was no username or password in the fields. I found these values for Orange to be USER and PASS, added these myself and not all is fine with weather etc
