View Full Version : Vista Ultimate Plus UI

I have created a Windows Vista UI (WAD)for Athena
But Im still in the process of designing/working it...
Just wanna ask you guys what do you think about my work...(needs some inspirations...)
I called the UI Windows Vista Plus because, obviously the design is Vista-like PLUS I made it 3 in 1.... 3 UI's in 1
1. The first UI is Windows Vista
2. The second one is not really a UI, which I call Picture Frame and
3. A UI I designed which I haven't decided a name yet (Im choosing the names Windows Orbit, Galaxy, Ring and others)
Take note that the theme is not yet finished, so there's still more to do (fonts, links, docks, etc.)
If at least 10 people find my work nice; I would be glad to share the theme here...
Need your comments and
please don't be harsh... thanks..

lol i have no idea why i put OS, i was thinking UI. i have absoloubtly no doubt that more than 9 people may be interested. i like that its something fresh and different, will it be able to run in other res settings via real vga
fire_z
4th June 2009, 08:37 PM
Yup it will run with different dpi's
but I made this using the default 192 dpi....
The graphics and objects will remain unchanged
but fonts size will surely be affected
So resizing and repositioning of of some texts will be needed if this will be run in 128 and 96 dpi

ill have a look at doing that if and when you release it, as my athena is a sort of spare i have it permanantly connected to the tv and use it as a basic pc when i cant be arsed coming into my office, i think this will really tidy it up nicely

Excelent work indeed:D It must have taken a lot of work, there have been many attempts at a vista type look and I recon yours is up there. How is it for speed? the only thing that put me off using them is it can slow things down quite a lot.

Yup I've been working it for days now...
The tedious part is making some original docks and some images and linking stuff with animations
I might finish the theme within 3 days...
Speed is good, it does not seem to slow down my system (I'm using Michy's Clean 6.1 ROM) and it can be
run in low memory mode which may have a good effect on battey life and multitasking
Another thing is I set this this to be installed on the Storage Card, not in the Microdrive, I've read that the Microdrive uses more power than the Minisd slot, so I Installed it there (storage card) to save more battery life (please correct me if this move will really save batt power). Another advantage is it can be installed through other VGA devices with external card memory named "Storage Card"....
Only 7 people to go....:D

You ae correct, the microdrive is far heavier on power than the SD so I think you've done right. i'm not sure on the exact figures but it will be somewhere here.

Yes! i think the Circular design looks simply great and special for the big screen of the Athena. I would love to have it on my U1000. i understand the Wisbar advance desktop must be installed to the main memory and the program is quite big. My daughter has installed Wisbar Advance 3 in her Ipaq and it looks quite good. Correct me if I am wrong, I understand that WA3 is a lighter skinning program and the extend of skinning is does not include the desktop part. When using Wisbar Advance desktop, is it still necessary to install Wisbar Advance 3 or will the Wisbar Advance Desktop do?

Well I have a good news and the a bad news...
The good news is weather is now updating....
the bad news is...the theme is messed up and I have to redo all...
I was using WAD version 2.1.1 and in the middle of my work, some parts of the theme suddenly became corrupted, with the animations and other stuff messed up too...
I had a back up of the theme and installed the latest version of WAD
and all seems to work but there were glitches... The wallpaper turns pink upon restart and switching to other pages is unstable...
So I decided to redo everything for it to be bug free in the latest WAD version
Which means it will take a couple of days

Hello.
Great work.
Count me in the lis.
I'm using Manila 2D now,but I like WAD too.
The only thing is that I'm at 96 DPI.
How much work need the fonts to work with it.
Regards.

2 People to go...
For 96 dpi fonts will be so small so resizing it to 2 or 3 font size more is needed for readability

You might notice those 4 little windows logo spheres (corners), they act as:
1. Upper left sphere - status toggle
2. Lower left sphere - standby toggle
3. Upper right sphere - weather toggle
4. Lower right sphere - power toggle
The big:cool: center sphere is the main button to access the menu...

In the process of making a "music player ring"
I'm using mortscript but can anyone help me find or make me a script for controls with Windows Media Player?
I experimented using mortscript with S2P, but there were bugs when using it on the Athena, so I'll be using Windows Media Player (or perhaps Pocket Player)
If anyone have ready-made scripts or know links for scripts for Windows Media Player or Pocket Player, please tell me, 'cause what taking me so long is because I wanna make a working music player for Windows Orbit (Which I decided to release as an independent theme):)
And I have a little distraction:rolleyes: with me....got my self a new Eten DX900 and quite researching 'bout it, tweaking and flashing it and stuff:D

I still need the mortscript scripts for any of the following
-Windows Media Player
-Mort Player
-Pocket Player
I can't release the theme without a music player page...
If anyone have these scripts, please let me have a copy
Thanks in advance...

I can't help with the music player stuff, as I have no use for music, but any chance I could try it out without that?

Some might be wondering what happened to this theme...
Sadly:( I temporarily abandoned customizing it....Why?
'cause there seems to be a bug on wisbar....
When I create a number of animation scripts to make a nice UI effect ( for example clicking an icon within a dock, to make the dock disappear and another one appear while canceling all open docks other than the current and etc. ) on the first few tries, the theme responds ok...
But upon ending Wisbar program for a while, and restarting it, the theme becomes corrupted badly:
- background turns plain pink, even if you set a new wallpaper, it returns to pink after a few seconds.
- designated scripts didn't work anymore
- Icons/pictures were corrupted too, just turns too a grey block
- wisbar hangs the Athena
And these things happens thrice, that's the reason why this theme was delayed over and over again, 'cause I have too redo all again one by one when the theme becomes corrupted( when the theme is corrupted, it seems impossible to customize it again)
On my third attempt, the theme was almost finished, and then suddenly it became corrupted again...
And that seems so frustrating
So until an improved version of Wisbar is released, I am not continuing the theme, 'cause again it's so frustrating:mad:
