yes, for all google apps to work you need to have already setup your google account in DZO's 1.1 build.

no, I didn't bring that over yet. I honestly never use the camera on my phone.

Why does my HaRET lock up at 100%? 1.1 booted just fine for me. When I try to load this build it locks up and has to be soft reset after that.

I am running NFSFAN's 6.5v10 WinMo ROM.

EDIT: Fixed, I had to re-extract and recopy the files over. Something must have corrupted randomly some where for me.

I am also using NFSFAN's 6.5 v10 ROM, and after running this Android build once, my WM ROM got royally corrupted... I'm going to hard reset and pray for the best... :\

I'm not trying to be a troll, here. But if anyone could help identify what went wrong, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I extracted all the files (except for data.img) and fired up Android. Waited a few minutes (like the thread said I would have to) and then I waited a minute or two before turning off the phone (through Android). Restarted the phone, and my Titanium home screem doesn't work, and neither does the Start Menu. And right when it starts I get "Cannot Start Voice Command. Reinstall and try again."

my wife had the same problems on her white vogue, I don't really know what it is... Pretty much means android is out of the question for you until we figure it out.

Thanks for this. I am finding it really hard to read the screen though. I did allign it. Is there a cleartype thing for android? non cupcake build looks real nice, but cupcake seems to have issues with readability.

Again, thanks for this, can't wait to see the final results.

After a Hard Reset, everything worked fine. I didn't really lose anything, since I installed V10 this morning.

I like the performance on the ROM. Feels lighter and faster. The only thing I don't like much is the GUI customization, more specifically the inability to switch back to the default theme. The loading intro screen is DEAD SEXY, though. :D

The lack of camera kind of sucks, but we all know how hit-and-miss camera has been on Vogue Android development, so it's understandable.

use the different initrd that vilord posted in the other thread. There's one that has bigger type/icons etc

Thanks mssmison, is working great for me with DZO's 128mb data.img.

Would love to see a standard themed version though.

Will let you know how battery life goes. Had wake up issues with original power options so changed them to match yours.

This is awesome.
Just wanted to send out a thank you.

And I guess it's the overclocking, but it's incredibly snappy.

Thanks for all the hard work, guys. I'm always excited for new updates.

How did you get DZO's to work? I'm trying to get it to run with no luck. TheDude's version here works fine except for not being able to login to google services. I used to be able to get DZO's 1.1 to work but it's not with the replacement Touch I got.

I'm sure you've seen this, but thought I'd post it here as well where the 1.5 activity is being discussed.

From dzo:
**********************************
I'm having trouble getting 2.6.27 to work reliably, there's a nasty bug that makes the phone hang when doing mdp blits sometimes. Until I track it down I've built a 2.6.25 kernel with a fix for the backlight problem in 1.5, this means you should be able to use pm_sleep_mode=0 or 1. You can find it in the usual place, only zImage is different.

For people making 1.5 system images, you need to make sure copybit.msm7k.so and lights.msm7k.so are in /system/lib/hw or the blit engine and backlight won't work.
**********************************

Aside from the "dark" theme (I cant see my weatherbug temperature in the notifications bar!) I think the sleep mode issue is the only major downfall of the 1.5 build.

for now they all still have the call waiting bug, as DZO's radio interface (that we are all using) doesn't currently implement that function.

a question and a suggestion:

Suggestion: can you post in the title when the package has been updated?

Question: is the screen align process the same as with dzo's builds - blue keyboard up + hold power and tap all four corners?

Thanks for working on the cupcake line!

Thanks!

mssmison

No GPS is a driver issue. There are currently no Android devices that use the GPSOne receiver, until a phone comes out with it included or until someone writes a driver the gps will not work.

is there anyway to build off the very first gpu enabled kernal?

my phone went from peppy and fast to sluggish and slow with a keyboard. i even put running apps at 2 and it's soooooooo slow. i dont know what's wrong with the latest kernals. i know others have this problem as well. right now winmo is faster that what i have right now. i'm not trying to complain because i'm grateful for all the progress but with all the new updates after the first gpu kernal come sluggish performance.

if the phone rings it will be 2 rings before it actually shows who is calling......if i try to pull up one app it takes all the processing power and doesn't pull up for 3-4 seconds....

seriously try the first gpu kernal compared to the latest one, it's a HUGE difference.

is there anything i can do about this sluggish performance?

Does the contacts list synch with 1.5? I can't get my new contacts to gmail contacts and my new gmail contacts to my phone. When I go into settings it shows the calender and the email syncing but not the contacts.

I downgraded to v1.1 and the contacts synced in but not out and I kept getting error messages

2 things. The second I changed to DZO's latest kernel from The Dude's the phone slowed down by at least half. Even if I click something it takes seconds for it to highlight and even longer to actually open.

Also, is it possible that I may have downloaded a program that isn't compatible with this build? I ask because whether I use my data.img and the data.gz or just the date gz I cannot use market or the gmail app. Can't figure it out.

You wouldn't use data.gz and data.img, the gz will overwrite you data.img.
So you started with DZO's 1.1 and setup google login, checked market and it worked? Than installed my files but not adding the data.gz file?

delete your data.img, and start over with the android 1.1 buld. I've found that changing roms, can sometimes cause corruption of the data.img file. A good idea is to back up a fresh 1.1data.img after google setup. Then back it up every now and then, especially when changing roms it's a good idea.

The ion build is quite a bit different from thedude build. Thedude build is using cupcake, the same build that you can compile yourself. The ion build is the new build from google that was given out at the android developer conference. There are alot of differences between the two, hence the speed, and working screen brightness etc..
Vilords ION build is a vanilla release, it's based on files I shared with him from haykuro's ion release. The skinned build is different and includes some files from the hero build that's out for the g1's.
So yeah, lots of differences.

I get that too. I haven't nailed it down yet. I think it's because we have to bring some of the files up from the cupcake build to make it work properly.

I would suggest starting with a clean 1.1 data file, make sure when you boot 1.1 you use the initrd that DZO includes with the download. After you have you 1.1 img file, replace the initrd with either vilords new one, and you system.img of course.

aven_soulgazer

I think the other Ion is the blue one and this is a red one.

How can you clear out the entries on marketplace? I downloaded various things just to look at them and now every time i go for a clean data file it starts downloading all these stupid apps I don't want. I just can't get them out of the downloaded folder of my market.

Thi ion worked for me, but then I saw the post about grabbing the newest zimage and init file. With the newest zimage it does not boot up for me, the gpu zimage and it booted back up again.

First off, MAD thanks to all of you guys for the work you've done in getting this ION build to work. As mentioned it is so fast that I, too, don't have to set a 'Max Apps' being that it's so snappy. Question: srwalter has successfully gotten caller id on call waiting working and voicemail alert. How hard would it be to get that working on these 1.5 builds? (being that his is 1.1) He mentioned something about a source RIL i think in one of his posts..dont know what it means but it would be great to have in the ION build as well. Here are the links to his posts:

It would just be a matter of intigrating his RIL into the build. I've PM'd him for permission, I'm just waiting for his okay.

If I wanna switch between releases can I just swap out the system.img or do I need to go through the whole install 1.1 then upgrade?

The dudes ion build (red) with the zimage from thedude work awesome together. I have had to set my max processes after a few hours bc I did experience a slow down, but after that it still kept it's performance. Good stuff.

I noticed today that after getting a text, smspopup stated that it could be used with a text-to-speech service and offered a link to download. I downloaded it but when I got anthother text, it didnt give an option to translate to speech. Anyone tried this yet? If so, what are the results, any other requirements?

I figured I'd answer my own question. If you have text to speech and SMSpopup installed, when you receive a text, long-press the popup and you will be prompted withe text to speech option. It's like having Stephen Hawking sitting in your phone reading to you! Ha!

Pretty cool and great for vision impaired user, but I don't get a lot of value out of it besides maybe if I get a text while driving.

Awesome build guys. I set it up last night and used it all day today. The only reason I switched to Windows was to get an MMS message and to drive home from work while using bluetooth. Looks great and its stupid fast. I handed my phone to a friend at work that has the G1 and he was impressed. Thanks:)

So...is there any way to change my background from red to blue on these ion themes?

Yes. Just press the Menu key (Volume Down) from the home screen and select Wallpaper. From there you can click on Wallpaper gallery. The first one is the blue flames

i've been using the hero ion build 100% and no problems what-so-ever (besides the normal limitations at the moment) and i just wanted to say thank you again! very fast and stable!

i saw that in dzo's thread they are implementing call waiting caller id, would that work for our build?

Right now it's not working, I'm working with him to figure out why but I have alot on my personal plate right now... kids.. planning summer vacation etc.. We'll keep at it don't worry. Next for me to fix is the camera :)

Hey jaredakelly, I'm pretty sure you were the one who was also experiencing the slow down from the later kernels. I'm curious, what version are you using now that gives you the fast and stable performance. The best combination I found so far was the ion (red) system and zimage from the dudes .zip. I switchd over to vilord's latest kernel based on martin's gpu zimage but that seems to hang at times too. Just wondering what combo to try next.

have you tried using the latest initrd from my thread? On my phone everything went from almost unuseably slow to blisteringly fast, now things are quicker than WM :D

well i had the same problem but after you use dzo's files to get ur data file replace all the files with everything u just downloaded from the ion files except the data.img and the default script. that should do the trick. the init files and zimage is different for both the ion and the 1.1

yeah i was the one that was having major problems with the other kernels.

right now i'm having awesome performance from downloading everything in the dudes zip and just switching out the system.img file of the hero ion build. very fast!
