Hi I've searched the forum about this but cant really find any definitive answers.

Is it possible to run a 32GB SDHC card on the Uni or not?

Has anybody done this and currently using it and if so is there any drawbacks or restrictions etc?

What driver/Software is needed for it to be recognised is it the normal SDHC prog that comes with some cooked 6.1 roms or is it another?

This (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/High-Quality-32GB-SDHC-Secure-Memory-SD-Card-32-GB-HC_W0QQitemZ280351636928QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Audi oTVElectronics_PDAsAccessories_MemoryCards?hash=it em4146427dc0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A3%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1690%7C 240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A100) is the same card as the one i have ordered is it compatible?

Thnx for any help/Advice you can give :)

I have heard of 32GB cards running on a Uni. (I've only got 8GB, though)... but now you've ordered it, you'll be able to enlighten us whether it works :D I'm sure many people would be interested, and this is what xda-devs is all about, all chipping in a bit of info :)

Will be happy to post results, was just hoping somebody had already tested and had some info already, Searched forums but seems nobody has actually tried it out yet.

Will try it first oob then try the sdhc driver and see what happens.

I can confirm that you can use 32GB SD Card with Uni. I am using one from Silicon Power and you need to select appropriate Card type using 'SD Settings' program after inserting it. The program will ask you to reboot the device and once done, its business as usual.

Almost all 6.1 Roms recognised and I have not experienced any issues in using 16GB Card.

Hope this helps.

Are you talking about a 16GB card or a 32Gb card, ??

I received my16Gb card today and spent some time getting stuff on it - movies, music, setup .CABs etc, seems to be performing fine, the only difficulty I experienced is the card not being recognised by my computer in USB mode, not sure why, had no problems accessing it through AS. Therefore it is taking me longer to transfer large files or folders over. Othere than that there seems to be no problems performance-wise. Would be interesting to know how the 32Gb performs.

The card has now arrived and it was recognised straight away on setting 2 with the SD-Settings app. Im gunna transfer everything across and install some apps and test everything out etc and post back soon :)

Can anybody recommend any tests i can do to make sure everything is working normally etc, Im gunna do the benchmark test with pocket mechanic but is there any other progs that can test it?

Try SD Setting type-1.
It is faster than type-2.

Sorry for confusion, I do have it on type-1.

What i meant is that i have it on the second setting which is type-1, type-2 been third setting.

Havent got round to trying any software out on card yet as I'm trying to get my PC to recognise the card it just seems to not accept SDHC cards or 32gb ones anyway.

Ive copied all my data installers/docs etc from old card to PC and im trying to transfer using the "Disk Drive" setting in "USB to PC" but sometimes the uni reboots :( , will get there eventually.

Do you know of a fix for Vista/Win7 to be able to read 32GB SDHC cards?

Be careful if you get one from Hong Kong via ebay as mine had a autorun.inf on the card infected with a worm, My AV (ESET NOD32) got rid though.

Im also having alot of problems transferring data to the card, I get so much on then something will go wrong like the phone will reboot or lose connection and then the card inst accessible it just says it needs formatting.

I cant get XP or Win7 to see the card when its in my inbuilt reader, Ive order a cheap card reader that accepts various cards including 32Gb sdhc so hopefully i can get all my data on and properly test it out.

I have a 16G card, have no problems on the Uni it works great but I did have problems on XP on the inbuilt SD reader on my laptop. The following microsoft patch fixed the XP issues.

Had major probs with the card, data just kept getting corrupted/lost etc and its basically fucked. Also the seller has dissapeared his account has been suspended also. Ive put a paypal claim in and they have agreed to do refund.

Ordered another from another seller, this guy has a decent rating the cars seems alot higher quality aswell.

will post back when i have news and test results.

I was having exactly the same problem last year with a 4gb card. Whatever I copied he was simply digesting without any notice. :p

Well i can actually get data on but at some point the transfer crashes and then things either go missing or card wont be accepted and needs formatting, done error checks for bad sectors etc and nothing comes up, was gunna do a the write test with pocketc mechanic but it looks like it was gunnna take literary a couple of days to complete :(

Was the problem you was having during USB transfer (Uni as card reader) or via real card reader.
Currently using rom 8.5.

Also when formatting the card what is are the best settings to use like cluster size etc (am using Pocket Mechanic)

i also bought a usb drive few months back ( 32gb cheap one :-) ) but it keeps loosing data.. when i transfer file it shows files have been transfered and if i check in usb i can find them, but when i plug in usb in another computer all i get is empty folders... did formatting several times no luck... so its just sitting down...

So what is the solution Master Tomal ????/:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

May sound a bit funny, but...
Last time my card went funny both my PC and Uni didn't want to touch it.
I resolved it by putting it in my camera (which also complained) and then did a 'low level format' (I had to tick this option in format... I have Canon Ixus 65, but I'm sure most digital camera's have low-level format option).
Hope it helps.

Verbatim 32GB Class 6 works on my Universal / T-Mobile MDA pro with german Maxstegi 6.0 ROM.
Maxstegi uses SD-Settings coded by OllieD Version 3.0.
So all 32GB cards should work on all Universals using OllieD SD-settings.

A lot of thanks to Maxstegi and OllieD (and all other geniuses at xda-developers) for moving our Universals into the next decade.

thanks xmdljoh, that's invaluable information (well, about £60 worth!)
I think you're the first one to report 32GB working on our Uni.

With thanks

Hello Jonny,

if I really am the first to report a 32GB SD card working in the Universal, maybe some more information is helpful. (I mean, I am a Junior Member here and still sweat when doing a ROM update...)

I filled the card with with six Wikipedia Tomeraider TR3 databases, each nearly 4GB large. All were accessible. (I did that test after my old digital camera accepted a 2GB card but accepted no photos any more after it was half full.)

The german magazine ComputerBild tested 16GB SDHC cards in their 15/09 issue in July. The Verbatim 16GB Class 6 card was the fastest reader, that is why I chose Verbatim when I bought my 32GB card. (Second place in the test in reading went to Patriot Class 6. Quickest writer, but rather slow reader was the TakeMS Class 6.)

Before I used the TakeMS HyperSpeed 133x 4GB SD card (not SDHC) and Wikipedia articles now open with about triple speed.

I paid €73 for the Verbatim card at amazon.de, so GBP 60 was also my investment... but great to have english and german Wikipedia ready, all my photos, every important document... the necessity of a netbook went to zero.

Thanks for this great forum with everybody contributing.
