you should have a /media/audio/ringtones folder on your SD card filled up with the ringtones... is that what you have now?
How well does it work on 6800? Which build? I've got a 6800 on a shelf somewhere that I wouldn't mind dragging out :)

I'm able to see paid apps in the market after doing the screen size trick in my default.txt file but I'm not able to see all the apps that I have seen before using another Ion Build. I'm not finding weather channel app, NBA Gametime, etc. Is there a known reason? Does the market change depending on build? I've tried Market Enabler but I have not noticed a change.

the reason you can't find is because you are using or have used a donut build at a resolution other thatn 240x320. more info here. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5163091&postcount=9)

My market has been fine for about 5 days now. I'm finding both paid and free apps. I have not had to blank my data.img. I did the resolution trick from the start using Pleman's Donut ASOP w/ market enabler.

I am absolutely loving the fact that I can run Android on my HTC Touch. Before you read on, you should know that I am more of the "user" type than the type of guy who dives into the terminal and gets technical.
I flashed my phone with the image for Android back in December, but I notice that there are a few updates since then. I would really like to reflash, but I don't want to loose all of my information. My text messages are super important to me mainly.
Is there an easy way to update my HTC Touch to the latest image without loosing my personal data and apps?

When I change a rom I use adb to pull the sms/contacts database out to my harddrive then push it on to the new rom, same with apps, I keep a folder of apk's.

use My Backup Pro from the market. trial version is for thirty days, which is plenty of time fo you to use.
if you are going to be using the same build of android (ex donut to donut), you can keep your old data.img, and just clear the dalvik cache using the new install menu before booting it.

vilord, have you thought about 'norootfs-ing' this build, or would you be open to someone porting it thusly?

Edit: Wait, I think I already had that one. The unpacked files have root, system and data, and /root is the old rootfs setup. Am I crazy?

Hello,
I tried using the latest haretinstall (2010/02/14) on Kaiser. When being prompted to push the volume up button or DPAD center button and trying both buttons (plus the camera button which was used on Kaiser in earlier releases) nothing happens even though I have supplied androidinstall.tar (there is just a message that system.img is missing which is obvious since I have not yet run the installation process). I have also tried several other buttons (if not all) which did not work.
Sorry for being slightly off topic with my Kaiser question but I hope someone can help me. If there is a androidhtc Kaiser specific thread could someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Brezel

Bootloader is not related to rom (Android/WinMo) but only enables non "official" rom. Just flash a winmo rom and you'll get it back

If you try myns warm donut android rom using haret, you will see for yourself why it is miles better than wm. Caution- Bluetooth doesn't work, but it is not a big deal for me.
Sent from my cdma vogue running myns warm donut (nand) using XDA App.

Alright, so I've been running Android on my Bell HTC Touch for almost 3 weeks now and it's been great. Once in a while the service drops out and I fix this by rebooting back into windows mobile, then back into android. Today, when I rebooted back into windows I had service, but when I booted into android I got no service. I've tried about a dozen times but I can't get service anymore in android however I still get service in windows. Any ideas?

seince i run it off SD i know from experience that it usually takes my phone 10-15 minutes to successfully get signal again after booting into android, let it sit for a little while longer then the data symbol should pop up near the top showing you have data connection aswell

Sweet! I'm getting signal again. But now ever since this little issue.. the top button (power button) doesn't work, and this morning my ringtone played on it's own for no reason...unless I had a call and it's not showing I did. It's starting to get glitchy. :S
Actually...what is the best/most stable version of android to run on the HTC Touch? I think this version is Android 1.5 - 2009-08-08. Not sure if there's anything better out there.

If you could enlighten me with the best, most recent, and stable version of Android for my HTC touch, I'd be grateful! I've tried to look it up but can't seem to figure out where to go next from my current version.

currently we are experimenting with froyo, before that eclair, and before that doughnut- myn dzo and incubus are the main developers- i encourage you to try them all and make the best choice-
remember, most of these are experimenta and thus you may need to do some trial and error.
good luck

Hi, I downloaded the last froyo build released on 2011/01/15, and it doesn't have Gmail App.
Does anyone know why?
Does anyone notice that?
How can I install it from Market?
Thanks.
