I cannot flash it, it stops at about 3 percent and says 'image file is corrupted'. I tried to download it again, but nothing changes:(
My current version is Rose 0.4 and have never had problems with flashing roms.
somebody has already installed it?

@fhm:
1st impression = great rom!
nice speed, it feels snappy.

just a bit disappointing that the handy callingscreen with up-button = speakerphone etc is not present and there is nothing really new except ie6.

oh well it's ofcourse easy to add all kind-of oem packages and other stuff.
feels really like a good base rom! thanx for you hard work!!!! :D:cool:

Yes i did.

To me it Seems...that the keyboard hook issue for vitocopypaste and aebutton isn't present anymore.

THey also have added the config manager for MVO...so even Virtual Operators are supported...but not all of them, only those who existed since 1 Year ago...in my opinion. Don't know if it good or not, I've just lost a lot of money in a GPRS connection, which I was used TO NOT have LOL!!

Screen rotation is A LOT faster...than a standard WM ROM.

@frau: have you applied the hacked dll, for the speedy scrolling?

Could you post your SYS, OEM folders with the XIP you used, so that others could use this as a base ROM.

Also is there not a 96 dpi version of the emulator (to get SYS, OEM from) as there was last time ?

TheBo

Or brutaly pull off the battery...which sometimes...seems to be the most effective cure... rather than soft resetting... :P

BTW I've noticed:

Windows folder listing...it's unusually quick :P
I can't manage to let the system (WinXP) recognize the phone....consequentially Active SYnc is not working...the same system I used few hours ago with succes but with WIn 6.1

ANyother??

radu_brd00

ThnX for the info.

BTW I've tested on 2 different computers, both with XP...and they DO the same thing.
USB peripheral not recognized. Very strange.

ANd Also...I do not have thumbnails on contact list...like FH had in his video on youtube...

radu_brd00
9th June 2009, 09:06 PM
it works for me ... copy the sim contacts to phone memory and edit them and add a picture to them and it works :) it shows the thumbnails :)

I can't test it with XP, sorry, I don't have a PC with it, nor do I know anybody near my home who has. It works in Windows Mobile Device Center (Vista and Server 2008). I just synced my contacts from Outlook (you obviously can't do that) and the pics were there!

TheBo
9th June 2009, 09:29 PM
Just to report I've tried several things fot acrive sync...like playing with the connections either on the Phone and on the pc.

Regarding the contacts...I've restored them (ONLY PIM data with Spb restore) = no pics on the contacts list.
SO I've tried to delete them all and restore them with PIMBackup (the one you included in the rom)= same result...nothing...

so unless someone correct me...(and this means I've have issues in both my pcs...or easily on my ROM config in someways)...seems it has some issues with XP...I can't believe it.

P.S:@frau I didn't thought you were a Vista-guy...:p Just a joke...

It connects to XP SP3 for me.
But I have an issue with restoring data and settings with Sprite Backup, as it ismuch diffenent from wm6.1 and doubles some data. Nevermind, fornow I go back to snap 1.4 and when have more time will restore all the data manually.
I like this rom, congratulations FHM.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOL! This is like a stock ROM, to be concrete is not even that. Because stock rom are released specifically from the manufacturer for that device (at least we hope so). So it not even a stock rom, it's an emulator image that frahottelman as hardly composed for our obsolete VOx...so you can't really compare it to a ROM higly customized with months of tests and nice stuff taken from thousand of devices with their own path of optimizing. C'mon!!!

Also Frahottelman, as released it as beta... BETA! Testing purposes.... It is not as he usually mean a ROM should be.

To me it's a very good starting point. Obviously it's not perfect but WM 6.5 it's out since what 2 weeks??!?!

oh...and just a point ......I hope that when WM 7 will come out I will not be a VOx main user anymore... :p

Is anyone using it here as their main rom? And how does it work in daily circumstances.

I've just flashed it but i think i'm going to another rom. I like the speed, but it feels to me as a real beta.

Hi there,
I am having some very annoying problems with my phond and getting it to connect to the internet. I have the Orange branded SPV E650 and have flashed it with the new Windows Mobile 6.5 beta rom. Strangely (as with other roms aswell so Im not saying its a problem with them rom!) I cannot access the internet on it. I have tried going to the Orange website and getting the GPRS connection settings sent and they saved fine and I can see them but IE still wont connect with the following error: "Failed to connect to the internet. Data coverage may be unavailable". So after those settings didn't work I deleted them and tried using the Connection Setup application which retrieved settings based on my Orange network provider and being based in UK. That also inputs settings on to my phone but also IE still fails to connect. By doing it that way it sets up a proxy in connections but unsure if that helps, as whether i keep it and try to connect or delete it I still can't connect! I have signal so thats not the problem and also Orange say everythings ok at their end. Also in comms manager with the Data connections I cannot turn it on, a "G" icon on the signal icon in task bar flashes on and off, toggles between them like its trying to connect but does nothing eventually.

Im really stuck and tried different roms but experience the same!

Any ideas guys? Would love to receive some of the great knowledge found here!

Many thanks!
Craig

Flashing a radio is exactly how you flash a rom...it does not remove your data or programs...it just rewrites the firmware part of your hardware dedicated to relate your phone with all of its connections.

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=vox_flashing

also in that page you'll find the link to access the ftp and take the radio version you need

ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Smartphone/Vox/Radios/

. I'm using this one

I am facing a problem, I don't know why PIE 6 doesn't show the mouse pointer! Without it, it's useless! In my personal build, which I am using now, I went back to the old PIE, but then the Widgets don't work... The flash support is useless anyway...
I don't have time to actually make and upload a newer version of the ROM for another week, so you have to be patient!
I attached a CAB to the second post for the new soft menu style!

mmm Yeah I noticed it too. ALso using a fake cursor is not a solution...since if enabled you can choose any of the things displayed but you can't scroll up and down. At least if you move the cursor using the D-pad.

I do not have a broadband connection here...so I did not test the emulator...but when emulating Wm in your personal computer, Was there a cursor?

This release has timebomb?

Thanks,

No timebomb, just a Beta, anything may happen

frauhottelmann

No timebomb.
There should be a cursor and I am not sure what causes this behavior!
Also, not all settings items from before are working. Like GPRS Authentication or CSD Line Type!

I'd love to try my hand at cooking a version if you could upload your SYS, ROM folders and the XIP you used.

Both of you have written that this ROM has very optimised battery consumption and battery life after a charge has increased remarkably. Good thing for the phone. What about others' opinion on this.
Thanks

edit:

Hi there,
I am having some very annoying problems with my phond and getting it to connect to the internet.

GRRRRR!!!!!!!! i had reflashed a new radio and it worked for the short time and then stopped working!!!! I flashed it with the new radio file and have all the correct settings but yet my internet still comes up with that same error!!! Bluetooth and wifi work but not internet,

can anyone please help???

well here's the thing .. i have a double battery that's 2250 mha and before with the 6.1 wm it would only last max 3 days ... with this rom ... today is the third day since it was charged and only 25% went down from the battery i`m loving this rom i don't think i'm gonna upgrade to any other rom just because of the battery :D

Hi all,

Beta 13 looks great! I hear nice comments about the battery life and all.

I think i'm going over to WM6.5 when Beta 13 comes out. Hopefully allot of bugs are fixed by then.

A question to FHM:
Do you already found some bugs of the 6.5 rom wich are purely of the beta sys files? (not minor mistakes made in cooking the rom, but actual bugs of 6.5)

May I say, that the OS itself is not to be considered a beta...beta is the early stage of adapting this WM 6.5 emulator image to our VOx ROM.

At least this is my opinion of course.:p

I'm using Dr.Gonzo's 1900 test ROM due to its speed...i usually see 24 MB:) free RAM in Celetask after a normal start of my Vox....

they are final the only thing that is called beta is this actual ROM here because it's not yet fully tested on the vox ... it's been built from the FINAL AND COMPLETE image files :)

Hey, what about the new version?
I am using the beta now and it works very well for me, but I like the battery and signal strenght icons from Snap (as I see from the pictures they will be used in the coming version) and the black panel when a call is in progress.
Battery life is pretty good and the phone is quite quick. I would say it's the best ROM I have ever used on my Vox (and I tried nearly all of them here on xda).
Thanks Frauhottelmann!

Not really, most cooked roms have betweem 20-24MB free

I only want a weather home screen app and clear storage, because 99%

Hi guys, What does the "activate volume" tweak do?

It activates the volume control screen from Snap (the black one).

frauhottelmann, could you remove bold font from the buttons? In some cases text doesn't fit in them.
And another problem with fonts, in Windows Live mobile application font is too big. (Left: on WM6, right: your ROM)

Verry good rom i love. But i have one problem. I restore my sms with pimbackup. Now i have a lot of messages and i use the thread view. If I open a sms with a lot of pages if I then want to close it again I must wait 3 - 5 min. After its closed and i do the same again then its normal. But if I close the sms program with taskmannager and he must start over again then it goes again slow. Do you have a sollution for this?

And an other question maybe someone have an answer too. I search a good agenda that when he remind you you can dismiss the message in x min you want and not fixed like windows mobile now.

Thanks

It 's normal.... the first time run the app has to be charged in RAM, later it is already running so, it's absolutely normal...also if you have a lot of messsages and even more if you use threading mode...for viewing them.

My battery is full but when i use wifi after 2 min my smartphone fall out without a reason and when i turned on the battery is at 0%. So from 100 to 0 in 2min. If i set my smartphone on again he say low battery and i just get to the windows to enter my pin and then he close. If I put the power cable in and set it on then it have already 60% battery???

Aye, but there's a big difference between 24 and 20MB on a device with only 64MB :)

For now, I've gone back to 6.1. The vol-key bug was annoying, and I think something is slowly leaking memory. I've noticed memory usage gradually creeping up, and freemem is not able to clear it out.

Still, I think once the bugs are ironed out, this will be a great ROM.

I was using Fireburned's Custom ROM since last six months or more. In fact I had been to Nokia 5800 pushing my VOX to secondary phone. This ROM has again brought back my VOX as the main phone. Hats off to FHM and all cookers for revitalising my VOX time and again. Everytime I flash a new ROM I feel like I am into a new phone. WinMO has no comparison with other phones. Best OS for geeks.
Regarding the ROM my primary impression is excellent. Everything I commonly use is working. Comm manager hanged the phone a bit but now everything is ok after a few restatrts. Only problem is titanium panel crashes if activated through tweaks menu. I will try homescreen cab loaded by FHM in his post. My only concern is battery life. But from a few hours of usage I find that battery life is not worse if not better. Will be able to tell after a few days of usage. Anyway absolute brilliant work by FHM. Keep it up. I think the ROMs will further improve and become more stable as time passes.
It is for the excellence of ROM cookers (FHM, FB, GONZO, HIKEY and all others) that we are still able to carry our VOX from WM 5.0 to WM 6.5 and hopefully to WM 7.0 also.
Three cheers for all cookers and Winmo OS.
Thanks

After using this rom for a few days, i can say it's excellent..

I have only 2 issues i have are:-

I'm not keen on the new 6.5 pro menu skinning. Not the look of it, just that there is a lot fewer items on screen (compared to the original) and more scrolling is required. Is there any way to turn it off?

After having enabled the titanium panel, i wasn't impressed with it and went back to the CHome version, please don't make the titanium the default one in later versions.

All things aside, it's a brilliant ROM.. many thanks for doing it FHM :D

Yes it's normal since FHM doesn't put a screen there himself.

I just sorted it you have to flash your Phone with USPL 1.16.

1. Follow the instructions on : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409721 to flash your phone with USPL 1.35 CID Bypass
2. While the phone is in the mode started from the above instructions, download Vox-USPL-RUU.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330909 and flash the USPL
3. Flash this rom as normal, thats how i got it to work.

hi great job on this rom it is the best available! Screen rotation on my SPV E650 is very good! Just wondering if the following are possible:

- to rearrange the listed items on the titanium home screen so that the clock is at the top of the screen and every other item is listed below it? I used Chome config and made clock top of list and everything else below it however it made the clock appear in the middle of the home screen with a space above it and the other items listed below!

- to have HTC Weather working on the sliding panel theme as opposed to needing the titanium theme?

- to incorporate the clock within HTC Weather? As I love having a nice big clock display and the full current weather conditions shown in the same panel at once as opposed to having to scroll down to the weather panel to see the weather info with picture whilst the time then being limited by only showing numerically whilst weather displayed in full and vice versa!

would be great if anyone could help, especially with the clock and weather being displayed together!

thanks in advance!

HI,

Here is the discription.
with any registry editor using vox go to below spot.
1-HKLM/System/GDI/GLYPHCACHE/limit

double the size of key 2 to 4 bytes(16384 to 32768).

2-install the 96dpi driver and that is it..

you move to a new look and feel.
