Hi guys!

First of all it's great to be here as a new TP2 owner after a long time of using HTC Kaiser.

I got my TP2 a couple of days ago. After installing my cabs I've realized that SPB GPRS Monitor doesn't allow to manage connections. My question is: did somebody else face with this problem (bug) and is there a cure for this?

I've downloaded and installed Resco File Explorer. I've successfully located the file in the Windows folder on my TP2. But when I try to overwrite it, it tells me I don't have permission. If I look at the file permissions in Resco, it says it says it's set to read-only. If I untick the read-only box, this looks like it's going to work, but the change doesn't stick - if I click Done, then go back into the Properties, it's still set to read-only. If I try to delete the file from inside Resco, it says that I can't delete the file because it's in ROM.

What am I supposed to be doing?

Just have a look at creation stamp of the file. It probably overwrites the file just fine.

If you want to be sure just try the following:
Rename the current xxxx.csv file to xxxx.csv.bak
After this copy the new csv file to your Windows folder and soft reset your device.

The rename apparently succeeds, but what it's actually done is to create a new file called AudioPara3.csv.bak and the old AudioPara3.csv file is still intact, and still cannot be deleted or overwritten.

The warning messages suggest that it is something to do with the file being "in ROM memory". I've seen references on this forum to something called "ROM extractor" (although I've no idea where to find such a thing) - would that help?

Just copied the audiopara3.csv file into my windows directory, did the soft reset and lost my face-down loudspeaker right away. Normal loudspeaker in not even slightly louder. Do you people actually try things before you post them?

I've tried going into the registry ( HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\W hiteList ) and adding a new string key with name and value set to "Skyfire", but this doesn't seem to make any difference - what am I missing?

2) The rotate on the home screen doesn't look very nice, as it rotates the wallpaper image as well as the foreground overlay. It would be better if the clock and notifications rotated but the background stayed the same. Is there any way to tweak this?

Use the app, G-Config... because you can't just put "Skyfire" in the registry key, it has to be the classname of the executable... I had to use G-Config to enable auto-rotate for Opera 9.7b...

I stumbled upon G-Config (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487991) which makes adding rotation to appz by the registry a breeze. It's really easy to use.
You can add/remove apps.

The TMO US TP2 is set to PIE and also comes with Opera. I can't stand PIE on the TP2 and am looking for a way to make Opera the default browser.

I don't think executable filename and classname are always the same thing... I could be wrong though.

I have a big issue with the TP2 and even with my TP2 that I am sure someone has ran into. I like to be able to stay in the application I left when I turn the phone off / suspend. If I am typing an email for instance and I get interrupted with a call or something I would like to go back to the same application and not back to Touchflo. With my current ROM on my wife's TP when she's in a call and then puts the handset to her head she has to hit the talk button then the keypad soft key to get back to the dial pad. Is there a registry area to suspend the state of the session so it doesn't default to Touchflo? This is a huge gripe of mind. Anyone with a fix would be thanked greatly :).

This is also my biggest gripe, along with not being able to consistently click hyperlinks in Opera, with the TP2. If anyone has any suggestions for this, it would be really appreciated!

That didn't do it.
There is a tweak I found using opera:config from the browser. Found it somewhere here on XDA.
go down to the Install entry and select the little box next to default, save just below and the close and restart opera, I think.

I have been out of town and have had VERY limited internet access and NO cell phone use. Killer considering I have had the TP2 less than a week.

I hastily removed my stock default program tabs. It's fine, but I really wanted to relocate the settings tab to the top left. Now that it's removed, it is not one of the programs listed.

when you say "loudspeaker".. are you referring to the one on the back of the unit - or the earpiece speaker? I am needing to increase the earpiece volume during phone calls.

Us lowly CDMA users here in NA still don't have that HSPL!! ARGH! hopefully we can take on the work that the GSM community already made.

Back on that HTC Homescreen issue... man is that irritating... I've begun digging through the registry looking for something about it... not a thing about it.

Just to outline my biggest gripe with this phone to date...

Turning the phone on after the suspend state sends right to the HTC Home Screen no matter what application was closed prior. If there is any way to hold the state after the suspend to continue on whatever app was being sued prior that'd be very helpful.

It is possible as there are apps that actually force the app to stay on top - Conduits Player is one of those apps. On suspend it reopens right back to the app - I don't think this is a function of the software - it's evidently blocking something from Touchflo.

Does anyone know how to disable screen rotation when using the call function with G sensor? I found a bug where if you rotate the screen twice from landscape to portrait then back or vice versa it picks up an incoming call. Kind of scary bug since I didn't know people could be listening to my conversation.

for the SMSSent notificaton, if you want the easy way to do it, download Auto Configuration on the first page (you have to download the Net CF 3.5 also) & then edit it with that.

At the end of the day it's all down to personal preference, it all depends what you want.

Read through this thread and see what the comments are on each one.
Once I get a bit of time I'll restructure the first few threads to make things easier to understand what each one is and the benefits of appyling it.

I wouldn't advise using an unlocking tool from another device.
Browse through the reg and do a manual edit is a much safer option.

you know when u are reading an email from someone you will find the "green" call button!! is there anyway to replace call button with sms button or even add that button too :), it will be nice to have both features there, i fiond myself wanting to sms people who send me emails directly more than calling them :)

Some reg enhancements require a soft reset to take effect too.

I'd say to do this you have to change keyboard map... Anyway. My question:

Default TouchFlo 3D, when you press Windows logo in upper left corner, shows Manila Program pane, not ugly and messy Windows Mobile pane. After flashing new rom this behaviour is changed. How can I revert it to defaul behaviour?

Actually I had, the email sync, but I changed it to manual... But the problem is that I use wireless to go to the web, but sometimes I forget to close the opera and when I put the phone in standby the connexion with my operator's plan gets on...

Just as a warning, I'm not sure what I did but after messing around with some settings, everytime I made or received a call and it connected, I could not hear the other party and vice versa. Fixed this by setting all the phone volume settings in HDtweak back to default and uninstalling HD tweak - I later reinstalled it but didn't touch the volume settings and it works fine now.

Don't know what I messed with but becareful as something caused my call functions to stop working properly.

Had exactly the same experience. Took me a lot of sweat to find out where I went wrong. My conclusion / findings are the same as above.

Well, tried it not really work very well... you will get problem with your softkey when removed it. No big deal, i have got my backup and restored it.

On my X1 i had a keylock setting that let me choose to either have only the power button or any button to wake up the phone. Can this be done on the Tp2? I find it a bit of a pain to have only the power button and this would make alot of differance. Thanks in advance.

no curtains: there's a cab for the bottom, 1 for the top, & i made one that gets rid of both of them.

I think you can try your sound settings in the settings tab. There is an option for you to off or on the single volume control there.

Does anyone know what's wrong with my TF3D because my home tab clock constantly freezes and doesn't update the time. The system clock is however running just as it's supposed to but tf3d clock doesn't. I can get it running normally when i disable tf3d and enable it again, but it's irritating since i have to do that like 5 times a day...

Does anyone know the registry key to assign a program to the "Back" button? I've got a program called TaskSwitch that I'd love to map to it. It works like holding down the "Alt" key and pressing "Tab" to switch open programs on a PC. It would be a great program to add to the list but I can't get an open button to map it to.

Is it possible to make a software that controls the speakers so i can deside if the sound will be through the phone speaker; external;SUB output.
The same for the microphone it can be through the internal microphone or the external SUB microphone input.
For example his can be used with SkyPe software so you can speak by using the phone speaker and not only the external speakers.

Disable home wallpaper
This will disable the wallpaper on the home tab and use the white-light-on-black-circle background instead (ie, what the other tabs use). This is useful if you like that background. It also seems slightly more responsive.

In "HKEY_Current_User\Software\HTC\Manila" change "DefaultHomeBackground" and "HomeBackgroundPath" to contain just an empty string (but don't delete them altogether). You may need to restart TF3D.

Cool! Is there a way to create a key to get the other hardware buttons assignable? You know when you go to settings/buttons, there's only an option for long press on the send key. Just wondering if this could be fixed by adding a registry key.

There are many large 3rd party on screen keyboards, for example SPB.

Do a google and I'm sure you will find one that suits your needs.

a quick search does the body good.

no curtains: there's a cab for the bottom, 1 for the top, & i made one that gets rid of both of them.

I posted a question about transparent curtains on the above thread, but I also wanted to post it here as it involves some other questions/issues.

"I installed this cab and now top and bottom curtains are removed on home screen :) ... BUT,
if I slide to another tab, [Stocks] for example, and release it, then the curtain re-appears. If i then re-grab the slider, the bottom curtain is still visable until I release it on the home screen. This is also true for sub-menu tabs. For example if I select a contact and slide over [Details] [Messages] etc.

*I just noticed that if i slide to Photos and Videos tab and re-grab, the curtain stays transparent.

Also, the pop up icon screen that you see when sliding across tabs has a shaded background. When I slide (from the home screen) it looks weird cuz the only unshaded part is the the bottom curtain. Any way to make the pop up icon screen background transparent?

I'm also interested in having the same wallpaper/background for all tabs. It is currently a grey gradient background. I checked out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521162 but I ran into the same problems most of the other posters. (I have Sprint TP2)

Be gentle with me, NEW at this tinkering bit. I am a user not a tinkerer. I am having a silly but annoying problem with my tp2. When I alter the power/turn off backlight setting to 30sec it keeps reverting back to 10sec. I took the plunge and looked at the registry setting with the view of alter "HKEY CURRENT USER > Control Panel > Power" but there is no power section or anything like it in HKEY CURRENT USER > Control Panel. HELP!!! now what???

Really simple this...when on a call the backlight goes out right away.
when you need to see the keypad to press a number (Ie phoning a call centre and the voice asks you to press a key etc) is the screen meant to come on right away when yu move it away from your ear ???

Whats the tweak so that the screen is always on when calling ?

Have you installed any 3rd party apps that could be causing issues, for example Advanced Config?

Are you using the stock Rom or a modified / cooked Rom?

I removed Advanced Config and problem went, Now set & stored at 30 seconds

Advanced config and other tweak tools do seem to have issues with the Rhodium.

I would advise that any reg changes should be done manually untill an update for AC is released.

That sounds more like a specific Manila error/issue.
If you do a SR do the messages then show once you go back into threaded view via Manila?
Sounds as though Manila is not refreshing and reloading the database correctly or timely.

I have noticed that some of the 'bigger' tweaks needs the .net frame work 3.5 to be installed first.

I wonder if you guys could help me out here a bit ?

1. How do I know what .net framework is already on my phone ?
2. By installing the 3.5 framework will i lose anything ? Previous tweaks, data, bookmarks, messages etc ?

The audio para update makes the loudspeaker louder, so yes it would increase the ring tone volume too.

Okay does anyone know why a2dp bluetooth sounds so bad on this device? The output volume that is being sent to the bluetooth headset I have (motorola s9) is MAXED OUT and distorting like crazy. If I turn the headset volume down using the buttons on the s9 itself of course it's not loud and doesnt hurt my ears anymore but it's still DISTORTING BADLY because the source volume is still PEGGED. It sounds FANTASTIC! That's called sarcasm. My old Instinct could change it's output volume... Anyone know a way to turn DOWN the bluetooth output? I'm using the Sprint music player (Sprint Touch Professional 2!) I know I should get a better one blah blah but I'd like to use it. If it's easier to just get a different player I guess I could settle for that. It needs to have an eq though if possible but I'd much rather adjust the bluetooth output volume as well. Specifically in the Sprint music player.

On a completely unrelated side note, my camera says my SD card has no space left when it has 4 gigs free. I can only take like 9 pictures.... what gives? I don't think I did anything to affect this.

Here's how this works, with a few corrections:

- Find an empty box in the Start button program launcher and count down to that icon from the top, left to right, starting on the 2nd (My Favorites, by default) icon. This will be the xx registry key you'll need to modify. For example, if you want to add this to the second row all in the right column, you'll modify the 5 registry key. If you want to add this to the 4th row, left column, you'll modify the 9 registry key. You can look at the various registry keys and see that the correlate with the programs.

hey I fouled up and unlocked the first 4 icons in the start menu, and went to change them, it seemed to work except the icons for the buttons didnt change but the functions of the buttons did. I tried to put it back and everything is back except the settings button. The settings button works for settings like it did but the icon is a blank white square. I assume it as something to do with the registry value of:

\\\registry\HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\Manila\ProgramLaunch er\3\IconPath

what I have is:

Just to make sure, you've set the camera to save to the microSD card (and not to main memory) right?

OR sometimes, my phone does not detect my mSD card. I take it out, re-insert it and it works. Happened twice so far. Maybe that's what happening on yours...

Last resort, back-up your mSD card to your PC/notebook, format it using your TP2 and recopy the files back. Read this tip from my Casio/Panasonic digicam manuals...

For 3 the easiest way is to use Outlook on the PC and choose the "File As" option in each of the contacts.

In Windows Mobile you can use the MS built in contacts list. Go to Start > Contacts, Click a contact and then choose the Menu > Edit function. There you will find a "File As" option.

Putra, Hey thanks! I actually did something that fixed it. It now shows full capacity (over 7 thousand shots). Not sure what was up. I know you can change the recording location for the camera and I did try multiple times to switch between card and system memory. I guess it was just messed up. i was going to format it like you said but it worked out.

Do you mean the softkey in touch flo or in the std today screen?
They are both different locations in the reg.

There are tweak tools available to change both unless sprint are using there own overlay for today (I haven't seen a sprint version so have no idea)

I'm sure if you do a reg search for what it is currently set to, you'll find the location.

Does anyone know a tweak to set the LED to blink for new E-mail when the TP2 is plugged in?

Mine stays either solid green or red depending on charging status. If I get mail while it's plugged in, the LED will blink immediately after I unplug it. Pretty annoying behavior for the weekends when it's plugged in all the time.

I didn't no is was possible to do that in WM 6.1 !
I just bought a TP2 and not totally familiar with WM 6.1.
My previous phone was WM 5 and it was not possible to change this setting. I figure it was same...

Did you use a cab to change it? Uninstall the cab if you did. Settings->Remove Programs.

There are options for level of transparency.

Does anyone know how to turn the bluetooth output volume down on the sprint htc touch pro 2? I can't turn the source down. It's pretty loud and if i turn it down on the bluetooth headphones the distortion is still there because it's distorting at the source. Also, my songs constantly skip and jitter even when the phone is right near me with nothing blocking the sight-path. Anyone know how to tweak the bt settings better?

Also, I can't recieve MMS picture messages (or video probably) they keep saying MESSAGE RECEIPT FAILED when I use wifi. What the hell gives? Great list of tweaks!

Here's one I used on my Raphael to give me more typing area. I used to use the "50" value for 3 lines of typing, but since the Rhodium's screen is so much larger, "70" for 4 lines gives plenty of space without sacrifice much. (FYI - I don't use TF3D, so not sure how it would look on that)

Expand SMS Typing Area

Use the freeware Total Commander and edit the file 'thread_sms.htm' in the windows directory.

Look for this part: <inbox:content id="COMPOSESUBJECT" width="98%" height=35 spell...

By changing the 'height' (in this case 35) to 50 or 70 you will get 3 or 4 lines for text replies, respectively.

Soft reset after editing the file.

Hi all.
I can't find any other similar question/solution so I'll ask here.

When my phone is connected to a headset (wired or bluetooth in my car) I don't get any sound on notifications except in the connected device. i find that very annoying as I can't keep the plugs in my ears or check the phone every minute.

Is there a tweak to route notification audio through the internal speaker when a headset is connected? This is especially important when using the phone in my car (connected to car stereo with bluetooth).

Any help to solve this would be greatly appreciated :)

So i just got mine tilt 2 on friday and i have been tweeking it all weekend and i think i finaly got what i want out of it. I wanted to keep original rom since is very fast and its got bunch of good stuff.
So this is what i did:

1.To do some of these changes you will need good file explorer like total commander (cab attached) so install it first.
2. install Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3.cab (cab attached) to make additional tweeks
3. In order for Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3 to run you will need newest version of Compact Framework 3.5 from microsoft get it here (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en)
4. You will also need reg editor (cab attached) this one works good
5. Install Smaberg TP2 Powerbutton 12 icons actionscreen v 1.1.cab this will bring out action screen if you hold down power botton for 3 sec. Great for turnig BT on/OFF, WiFi, softreset, etc
6. This rom comes with YOUTUBE app that works great so there is no need to look for anything else. Here's the trick, youtube will not show up in your program list. What you have to do is to copy youtube.exe from windows folder and past link into windows\startmenu\programs (use total commander) and rename to youtube and you got it.
7. Now you can softreset your device.
8. To add youtube to internet tab and to change starting page when you open browser from the internet tab you will have to copy this file InternetPortal-en-US.xml to application data\manila . Use total commander, you might have to change properties of the original file since is set as read only, to overide existing. This will make it open up with www.google.com (open in notepad on your pc and change it to what ever you like)
9. Att disabled internet sharing so if you try to use is you will get apv error.
The problem is that is not set to MEdia Net and they removed option to change that.
In order to get this to work just modify these registries (use regedit)

HKCU\Software\MICROSOFT\InternetSharing\LastCellCa ll CHANGE TO "MEdia Net"

HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\ForceCellConnection change to "MEdia Net"

10. soft reset and you are done.

if you wanna move things around in start menu you can use this app reSTART.cab

11. If your YOUTUBE takes a long time to load videos and keeps displaying connecting... then disable proxy (located in start menu/tools).
Youtube should open videos alot faster and start playing while still downloading just like your PC.

I know, I know - I shoulda backed up the registry before adding this in, but I didn't and I need to know how to turn this feature back off. No, don't change that key. You need a registry editor that will let you add new keys. I prefer to use a desktop editor instead of on the phone itself. When I get home from work I'll find a link to my favorite one.

Anyone figured a way to remove AT&T pre-loaded, useless applications on Tilt 2? May be similar to the previously used method where after a hard reset , a soft reset is done before autoconfiguration installs the AT&T apps. In portate mode, the setting to turn XT9 on will stick. But EVERY single time i switch to landscape mode and use the hardware keyboard, i have to bring up the onscreen keyboard and turn XT9 on AGAIN. I tried to edit a setting in the reg i thought might control this but it didnt work.

My apologies if this has been mentioned already (it's not listed in the top 2 posts and I can't find it using an in-thread search). I stumbled across this today in the Touch HD forum:

The bulk of the first post in the thread talks about video playback, and is now redundant (as better approaches have since been discovered); however, there is attached utility, "tnyynt SD TuneUp.cab". This is effectively a driver for the SD card, and it seems to work on the TP2 as well as on the HD.

I downloaded the trial version of SKTools and ran the memory card benchmark. Assuming its results are accurate, installing the driver made no difference to the card's write performance, but the read performance went from 3.5MB/s to 8.5MB/s. Reading data off the memory card (according to the benchmark) is actually now faster than reading from ROM! :eek:

Just as a warning, I'm not sure what I did but after messing around with some settings, everytime I made or received a call and it connected, I could not hear the other party and vice versa. Fixed this by setting all the phone volume settings in HDtweak back to default and uninstalling HD tweak - I later reinstalled it but didn't touch the volume settings and it works fine now.

Don't know what I messed with but becareful as something caused my call functions to stop working properly.

I had the same problem. From my (informal) testing, it appears to be the "Acoustic settings" item under "Volume Control" -- if you tweak that too high, bye bye phone!! I now leave it at "normal," but setting the "Increase sound" item to High does not seem to have any deleterious effects (although the change in call volume is not so significant).

when you tapp this, it goes direct to the "all setting"

The Vario V has some registry settings that differ from the stock TouchPro2.

The tweak to make your device louder does not work.
The reason is the registry is pointing to: AudioPara3_TMOEU_V4.csv instead of AudioPara3.csv

Created a CAB that uses the CSV file from the second post and makes sure that the registry is pointing to the correct file ;)

HKLM\Services\CMGuardian
Flags = 4 (it's a DWORD if it doesn't exist.)


but the CMGuardian key doesnt exist there on my tp2 official rom 6.5

i had my htc wing and you could clock it so it wouldent lag alot my tp2 just for some reason is not that fast responsive as it was when igot it and thats cause all i put was the redirectory for loud speaker and web video downloader but it goes slow sometimes is this normal

I really dislike the sms app on the phone. I will often send out the same message to multiple people and it is awful to do on the tp2. On my old verizon phone I could checkmark (up to 10) people and send away. adding individually is taking forever. Are there any apps out there that give a traditional text interface?

Anybody found a new audiopara3.csv which is increasing the volume??

I am using Google maps, for lattitude. I'd rather have not my latitude be update when there is no GPS signal, so my question is, is there a way to tweak Google maps that, if there is no GPS signal, it will not update the location? So only use GPS (and do not turn it off once there is no signal?)

I used this for my Diamond and just setup my tp2 with it and it works well for me, so I thought I would share it for those who want to move their emails.

HKLM\System\Inbox\Settings

add “PropertyPath” value=”\Storage Card\Mail” datatype=”string”

add “AttachPath” with value “\Storage Card\Mail\Attachments” without quotas.

What are the tweeks I need to do to

1) Be able to select text with out having to go choose menu, and then the select text option?

2) Be able to copy/ paste without having to select it from a pop up menu.

The original Htc touch pro, was great, I think this phone has gone menu crazy!
Shifting through 2 or 3 menus is annoying, epically when on the original touch pro you had the pull down option. Really just want to go back to that as much as possible with the touch pro 2!

Proximity sensor will turn off the screen when it's near your face, otherwise this is likely a function of some other program.. S2U2 for example can automatically turn the screen off on a call, if you're using it check its options.
