Hi there ,
Is there any limit to do DOC format?

I use Cotulla Q3 ROM and to try any new ROM release I have to format the
DOC everytime.

Does it damage the hardware if we do the DOC format many times?

I've not heard of anyone damaging the h/w using DOC format. I think it's quite safe to use as much as one flashes.

Would love to know the reasons for DOC format before each flash. Thank You.

Thanks -Johny.

I thought it may have some limit.

As for the reason...I think it has something to do with the partition or memory allocation of Cotulla's ROM?

But Tomal also advises it with his new one.

Why would there be a limit? And how would deleting software actually damage hardware?

Is there something I'm missing here? What actually is DOC format?

Ive used it a few times when getting rom update errors but just assumed it was simply a way to erase faulty/corrupted data so can flash afresh.

So many times that you wont be able to wear it out in this lifetime :) (unless you switch yourself to psycho obsessive doc formatting mania)

I have formatted the DOC on my beloved Uni so many countless times whilst cooking, sometimes four or five times a day.

The question you're asking should be asked to the manufacturers of the DOC chip itself.

It's like saying how many times can I reformat my Hard Drive.................

Happy flashing Uni lovers.

ps, you need to format because of partition differences in the Roms.

Cheers,

Beasty

I read somewhere that DOC chip has a write limit, which is near about 1000k times. :D

Is this disk similar to data card..because then it would have some write limitation as Tomal says.

And which manufacurer should we ask,HTC?For I have O2 Exec, and people here may have other brands?

Hopefully this is a minor issue but again it's always better to know.

Thanks guys for your responses.
