I might not be the only person to post thraed like this but what r the odds that the community could sway all the rom devs to work together to create the best rom ever seeing as there is from what i believe nowhere else to go condidering hero and cupcake being around. and idea's as how could could do this. i would love to see the flash player and maybe a rosie that doesnt run slower thn dial up

define 'best ROM ever'.
every ROM is different, it's completely down to personal choice.
e.g. whether you want looks over performance or vice versa.

each time a new ROM is made it's an attempt to make the 'best rom ever', you can't just expect perfection instantly, it takes time ;)
plus, quite a few of the devs already work together, using bits from each others ROMs etc.

Variety is the spice of life.

Many of the devs are already sharing portions of their work with each other to incorporate in their own builds. I don't see a need for further "standardization"....numerous others have already popped up incorporating what they believe to be the most popular features of all the builds anyway.

Not really sure where you think this would go.

and by best i mean combineing the best features from all the roms i have tryed hero and like i said its way to slow so i stick with jf 1.5 adp b/c its fast and reliable.

most of the builds avaliable now are using all the best tweaks from other builds. So, in essence, it's already been done and i'm guessing will continue as better tweaks are discovered.

Gawd not another one of these...

1. There is a Thread Specifically covering all features of EVERY rom out there.
2. This Type of Thread should have never been posted in the DEVELOPMENT section of the forums this Thread should have been in the General DREAM section of the forum.

3. REPORTED.

quick rant

since i noticed OP posted about rosie running slow.

I don't think we're going to get a solid running rosie til the hero phone actually comes out and someone does a full system dump to port to the g1. All we have now is an incomplete alpha rom that some talented devs are trying to make run smooth but there is only so much they can do with an incomplete rom.

And even with a complete rom of hero w/ rosie we still don't know if the g1 can handle rosie anywhere as smoothly as hero phone will. We are eventually going to hit a dead end with what kind of future android builds we can run on the g1 as they become more hardware intensive.

the next best thing to the "best rom ever" would be similar to OpenWRT's build system: menu-based config that lets the user select what features to include, with support for external feeds.

With the amount of rom options out there now, this would be a good thing imo.

heres proof it wont ever happen... I don't like/want the rosie UI where others do.
