Does leaving EDGE connection ON drain a lot of battery?

I'm curious to know if leaving my EDGE data connection on all the time drains a lot power from my phone. I know that WIFI sucks battery like there's no tomorrow but I wonder if EDGE is nearly as bad.

I make a habit of turning the "data connection" off even when I am not using it but I wonder if that is necessary.

I dont think it would make a noticeable differance.

EDGE isnt 'always on' as in maintaining a constant connection so no it will not increase battery life if you turn it off.
