I present to you the Shadowline Series. The roms I make are made to be cutting edge, using the latest in Windows Mobile and HTC with a mix of my own taste in graphics, tweaks, and fixes.
Because the purpose of this rom is to be cutting edge, not everything will always work as intended at all times, and that is where you come in at. I need all of you to test, and report back on what needs fixing, tweaking, or even suggestions for newer versions.

This rom, can not, and will never brick your device, unless you do not read the instructions or do something that you aren't supposed to do.

The latest HardSPL is always recommended as that is what the rom will always be based on.

If I do not implement a feature or a request, It is because it will not work, will break the intended design, or it will be worked in at a future time. But I do encourage feedback on everything as you are the ones using it, you should be the ones that have a say in it.

@ redesignni, is it still doing it? if so reset, and if your old rom does not boot up, press "vol down + reset" to enter bootloader and then try flashing another rom again.

Just got my D2 last Thursday and have not installed any rom so far. Was using a Kaiser previously.

Downloading your rom now. I've been reading and it looks like I need to Hard-SPL first. After that, I'll need to run CustomRUU for Topaz.

Question, instead of running CustomRUU for Topaz, can I skip this and go for SD Card flashing instead?

THE WAY TO FLASH A ROM USING THE SC-CARD (also tnhx to jiwei1984):
1. Make sure you have HARDSPL installed (soon...).
2. Format the sd-card to FAT32 (if not already).
3. Copy the ROM (.nbh) to the root of the sd-card and rename it to topaimg.nbh.
4. Bring the device into bootloader: press and hold Volume-down button and then Power button.
5. Confirm the question to upgrade.
6. Wait for upgrade to finish and enjoy...

"Getting Started" on the home screen has an issue. When i press the any of the links of the screen.. it doesnt work. It just turns purple, but nothing is being executed.

Also can you add the cab for the 'Phone pad" style input. It seems to be missing under the input selection.

Wow i Installed this ROM couple of minutes ago on my topaz and its Awesome :). Never seen WM 6.5 with my own eyes. Its great very very fast and no need for a UI Shell like SPB or Touch Flo . WM 6.5 looks and feels great.

After the Net 3.7 fix i noticed one bug at Getting Started the links dont work i can click on it but nothing happend.

Your WM 7 Blue theme looks great!

After I confirm that it works (i'm flashing now) there is a new build going up that is supposed to have fixed everything in the bug list. We can only hope :D

Edit: its going to need some more time in the oven,. netcf was not fixed. I will try to get it working later tonight for you.

Will this work to get XT9 on a language we want? This thread has XT9 for lots of languages i see and inspecting the cab shows it has similar files as XT9 for 6.1.

Anyone want to test this out? I dont have 6.5 installed..

Ps. If you install this cab you will loose the other languages, in order to get them back you need to uninstall it Ds.

I've been using it during the day, must say too - after aligning the screen, taping is very smooth! Theme is very nice too.
I hope you can include Manila in your next builds (Ability to choose between Manila and WM Default under Settings - Today).
No other bugs found till now.

Its very nice although you loose a lot from the missing TouchFlo3D functionality but I agree with redesignni that the ROM makes TD2 look VERY slow and unresponsive. Lets hope the original HTC 6.5 comes soon, it looks real nice on beta version if you look at youtube and it seems HTC found a way to bring the touchflow functionality to WM6.5
Then again we have to thank the crreator of this ROM for his time on making this ROM available for us.
ps: I did recalibrate the screen twice actually but no improvement on responsivness

I'm back after a long day at the parks. :D Anyway, before I left today, I built a new version of the rom, which fixed a few problems, like opera and camera zoom, but now touch doesnt work in some apps. And still am working on the netcf errors. But I am happy to say the rest are gone and fixed as of this point. I am too tired now to do too much (and upload) but I am off all day tomorrow, so I will have time to work through the bugs bit by bit.

Also I want to thank L3v5y for helping me figure out some of these things in the IRC. He has been a great help when I bug him with questions. :D Expect a new rom up tomorrow, bug free hopefully.

Can I just ask how you fixed the NetCF error? Are you using 3.5, or the new 3.7?

With the TouchFlo bug, I'm guessing you just removed the TouchFlo EXT pack? If you did, a better fix is to edit the app.reg file, and set "scrolling" to dword:00000000

With the touchflo thing, making scrolling from 1 to 0 causes a lot of issues for me, it could be my package that i have though. With netcf, I am using 3.7, and found another package to work with, put it in oem, which seems to fix it. havent had an error yet!

Had a quick look at this as we just received a Topaz at work.

I'm already familiar with Diamond flashing (just fyi)

I've ran the HardSPL -> Topaz-HardSPL_V1_01R1.zip which went well in my opinion.

After that tried to flash your ROM but it keeps staying at 0%.

Anything you would say I should retry?

I'll have a look at it tonight at home also, to verify.

With the touchflo thing, making scrolling from 1 to 0 causes a lot of issues for me, it could be my package that i have though. With netcf, I am using 3.7, and found another package to work with, put it in oem, which seems to fix it. havent had an error yet!

Odd. TouchFlo (specifically Bioutouch.dll) handles the zoom bar as well as the touch screen system.

Can you send me a link to that OEM pack? I'd love to have NetCF 3.7 working in my ROMs... :D

Biotouch handles both the touch screen and the zoom bar... It's what handles all the HTC scrolling stuff in WM6.1, but the MS implentation is better in 6.5. I wonder if your scroll registry setting is getting changed when the device starts up?

first go to the stickied HardSpl thread, follow the directions there to install that, then come back here, download the rom, and click on the exe inside the .7z file and follow those instructions.

UPDATE: if there are no bugs in this build other than the zoom bar, next version will have TF3d Cooked in. P.S. Next version is TF3D Skinned... hehe

Bah.. Flashed this and im realy dissapointed that there is no ezinput (the version that comes with D2). Useing winmo default keyboard is irritating at best.

anyway you can add ezinput with XT9 support for swedish, or atleast some XT9 support so i can modify it to run swedish XT9 myself.

Is this a problem in general? I have tried iGO8 and TomTom, and they do not work on my Topaz with WM 6.5. They install, but never achieve to run. Any suggestion?

Flashed "Version 6-17-09-rel1". Everything works, and I like especially exchange sync. It was very fast, as compared to many other 6.5 Kaiser and Topaz rom. Important apps for me, Opera, emails, sms and camera works for me. Titanium, start menu and Resco Explorer scrolling is fast and smooth. Well done!

Sadly, the only sad thing is the lesser amount of "storage" memory as compared to Tom's rom, about 50M less.

Wish a lite rom of this version could be made. If not, maybe a lite rom for your 21815 would be great.

Is this a problem in general? I have tried iGO8 and TomTom, and they do not work on my Topaz with WM 6.5. They install, but never achieve to run. Any suggestion?

The figures below is after I installed Resco Explorer, negligible though.
Tom's rom, 332M and 77M.
Iv35y's rom, 334M and 113M.

BTW, Wifi is working for me in the earlier build (not the 21815 - haven't flashed it).

Do you guys face battery drain problem? So far all the 6.5 roms have this problem. For this rom, it drained my Topaz by 30% during the night, when I was sleeping (about 6 to 7 hours).

Any tips on improving battery drain?

Disk drive works for me in this build. Connection setting on the popup does not, but I am working to fix that. Also having a problem with some of my EXT packages, I believe they are the cause of the igo problem (i am going to try to see what exactly it is.)

New build coming up soon. It uses a new kernel and imho works much nicer. Also the GPS navi software seems to be able to run once more, as well as the ezinput software.

No manilla as I am on my laptop and I forgot to copy the manilla files over... but at least this build will be hopefully stable and mostly bug free. (as bug free as beta can be!)

Uploading now, same link, though the name on the downloader has not changed yet. It should be up in less than 15 min from now.

Also, ringtone selection works afaik. :D

Bug report:

I was changing themes around and now the today screen is has a mix of themes all at once, and the slider bar leaves copies of itself where you move it. Phone still works as usual, just graphics are completely screwed up. Still the same after reboot.

And the battery in the top bar is the battery from 6.1, I personally preferred the 6.5 battery with the percentage.

Personally, im looking for as plain as possible a rom, with no bugs (obviously). I like roms plain because I tend to do my own customizing after I get used to using the rom. I also like stuff that looks good, and runs smooth.

Your theme is really nice, and the rom runs fairly smoothly. I prefer yours over the energy rom (too heavily customised already), but under Tom's rom.

TF3D2 coming in next version now that this one is more stable. Since I am on my laptop I just hope I copied the packages from home before I left.

Also I will look into fixing office and seeing if i can get a better touchflo package that doesnt mess with anything except the zoom bar.

UPDATE: Manilla version coming up, and zoombar is enabled again, let me know if there are any selection or scrolling problems in this rom. If it does I will disable it again until I can find another workaround.

The only (tiny) thing that annoys me is the battery symbol in the top corner, it's just like before. Is there any way to change it to the 6.5 battery without reflashing?

Correct, it is still a bug though involving a conflict from the HTC TouchFlo package (biotouch.dll) and WM 6.5. The only real fix that I've heard has been to either not include it (breaks zoom bar) or wait till HTC releases their 6.5 ready version.

Yes, Manila can be turned off in Start-Settings-Today.

Office mobile suite is not working.

Camera and Calculator are working.

Resco explorer's subfolder's opening response is not as smooth or fast as compared to UDK's rom.

I didn't test Exchange sync though, expect it to be working.

How is the alarm function for you guys?

I have a problem. I starts to play one tune and gets interuppted by another, short beep and vibration. After that its silent. Can someone test the alarm function on this release, i read somewhere it's a 6.5 issue.

Exchange should be working (i use it for my contacts+calendar Gmail ftw!) I was wondering about manilla because in my latest build i didnt know if i had it cooked the same way but because it replaced the wm6.5 start menu there was no way into settings due to the settings page in manilla linked wrong.

Dont worry though, it is fixed easily and will be before release. The only things holding it back is im doing a few server side upgrades that are being unruly. Trying to fix office, And im trying to find my skinned manilla which has totally ran off on me. :eek:

I have just applied your ROM and I must admit it is a very nice interface you have made.

Having just coverted from the stock HTC ROM the absence of TF3D is a bit of a pain but most of the functionality is included within the new WM6.5 home screen, however reading your previous posts are you still intending to implement TF3D2 as this would be brilliant.

A bug that i just discovered with your previous rom (the one with TF3D): The 3G switch in the comm manager doesnt work for me. It has no effect.

Thanks for the mirror. I will look into the 3g issue, but that is hard to test on my own as I do not have 3g here.
Also the screen sensitivity? I will look into that but i havent found a problem yet.
And I will also look at the alarm bug, but can you do me a favor? can you check to make sure the alarm vol is up, and the alarm ringtone is set (i had an issue with that on a build)

I like the speed and responsiveness.

memory management - 70% initial, but it scales to only 4% more to 74% when a bunch of other apps is running and active.. it looks like initially a lot of memory is used for caching but after opening a bunch of other apps the memory consumption scales dynamically.

Tested and found the following all working ok; outlook, quick gps, google maps, rss hub, youtube, navigon mobile navigator and office.

With manilla I don't see the program tab, I am not missing it actually.

Overal impression: fast, responsive, clean and so far stable rom with a nice overall theme.

Look at the cab in the attachment. It adds a new (7th) button to the comm manager with a working 3G switch.
It messes up things, if i install it on your rom; but thats obvious because there would be two 3G buttons.
But it works on the stock Diamond2 Comm manager.

I modified your WM7Blue theme. It seems to work; at least for me...

The beam isnt for IR. The beam (ON/OFF) is for bluetooth. What it does when activated is to automatically make your phone visible to other devices. Very useful if you always use bluetooth transfers.

And yes the "beam" is for file transfers (why did they keep it that name, i may never know.)

I honestly hate skinning media player now... It is soo outdated, badly done, and buggy with skins. I honestly hope Microsoft isnt happy with it and sees that there needs to be a change....

Hmm, I do now notice that bug.. I wonder where it is coming from.. It seems to ignore even the vibrate command in the tf3d alarm panel, but however your solution is a valid temp fix for it.

Well, acctualy the alarm sound plays but so does the reminder sound. And when both plays, they both "break". A temp. solution until a newer build of WM6.5 comes out is to remove the sound for reminders.

I almost missed work because of this last week, but now that i know this i can sleep soundly :)

What I would like is the HTC and WM6.5 sounds (alarm, ring, message) in a .zip so i can add them to this build, atm the list of sounds is realy short and most of them are just annoying.

I flashed the new energy rom and also faced the same problem. So I looked at my mp4 files again and tested older ones, and sound was not a problem, but timed off, like what you mentioned. So problem must be at my end, not your rom.

Build 21820 coming soon. It is booting and everything works, also media player seems fixed again (video/sound issue) I am working on the alarm bug if possible and then releasing. :P

Another new test rom is up. I think I'm getting better at this porting thing, booted on the first try. :P
This one is all the same as the previous in terms of features, but with a new ported build of 21820 from da_g, a fixed media player, ezinput now allows for phone keypad style input, and touchflo 3d is temporarily removed.
The only thing not fixed (yet!) is the strange issue with the alarms.
Anyway, Download and as always let me know what you find!

Topaz has far too less buttons, if it should be possible to devide the zoom bar in sections and use it like buttons.... the far left and far right sections could still be used for zooming in or out.

Hi Shadow, a few niggles with your latest ROM, although looking at it jejansso has mentioned one.

Opera finger gestures dont work for scrolling, landscape switching doesnt appear to work.

Performance of overall system seems somewhat strained.

Task manager has black background on tab bar.

Touchscreen sensitivity is twitchy on home screen and start menu

The gestures in outlook were provided by TouchFlo, but since in the latest WM6.5 OEMDrivers TouchFlo doesn't exist you don't get the gestures...

After more and more testing, the alarm/sounds bug is a build problem on the 21815 and 21820 side.

And with the keyboard bug, I am not sure what is causing that, but it does it to me too in any of the keyboards.

Introducing Shadowlines "A Shade Of Grey" rom.

This rom continues on the last test rom, and now includes a modifies manila skin, and a new Grey skin to help match with manila.
Don't fret though, the blue theme is still available through settings!

This rom contains TF3D2, and titanium. And will be released on the main post shortly as a new stable rom download.

your rom is faster now and more stable compared to the other roms you released. :D

found 3 'bugs' with the rom

1) when you tick in the time and date to display the clock, it replaces the batt icon and shows the clock in ANY screen. :D
2) when you are in the sms/mms folder, you cant access the mms options, when you tap it, it does not do anything. :D
3) typing using alphanumeric keypad is quite sluggish and inaccurate. it is not as stable as with the stock rom. do we have a fix or tweak or cab for this? i usually type and text a lot so sometimes its quite annoying. :p

all in all your rom is GREAT! the new theme and stability is outstanding.

Hello everyone, if you are wondering about my lack of updates, I am currently on vacation until the 11th, I have tried to port over the new 23001 system (though I see no real improvements as it does not fix any of the current bugs...) and ended up totally destroying my kitchen. Not to mention my internet is quite horrible. Try tethering your laptop to a phone that only gets edge signal here, not so fast. :P

But I assure you as soon as I get back, I will be working on a new update for all of you, even if this is one of the less popular roms. (It's hard to compete with moderators and admins. :P)

In the meantime, I will be taking suggestions for upcoming roms, so far I have:

With Manila
w/o Manila
Lite rom
Fixed landscape EZInput (don't know whats bugging out here since It isn't my keyboard files, tried different versions and didn't make a difference.)
Fixed alarms and notifications (Bug in wm6.5, probably conflicting with something from HTC)


Also, I am planning on splitting my rom into multiple versions:
Full /Manila /w Titanium
Full /no Manila /w Titanium
Base /Manila /w Titanium
Base /no Manila /w Titanium
Lite /no Manila /w Titanium

If you would like to see any applications in the rom, give me a link to it, and I will check it out. Try to keep it something that would be generally useful and not too specific, something that isn't just useful to you, but everyone can enjoy it.

Also, if you would like a specific theme color, let me know what colors you would like, if you can be specific (like a #ffffff type or a RGB value would be nice instead of me guessing wrong. :P)

Updated to build 23004, OEM Drivers 2.02, New keyboard, fixed connection sharing icon in Comm manager, added extra camera modes, and a few minor fixes.
I do not know what is wrong with the 3g switch, as I can not use 3G to test if it is on, or off. Wish I knew how to code, Id code up a htc hero like interface for it. :P

Also, does anyone know of large scaled htc hero application icons? I have 48x48 size ones but I must go big. :D

Hello everyone, Sorry about my server and its wackyness!

This new build is one that is working towards 6.5.1, which is a more touch friendly build that bridges the gap between WM 6.5 and WM 7. The graphics are not done yet (microsoft's side) and some things are not optimized yet.
Also, as of this build, I announce the death of the "Today" screen, as it is now the "Home" screen from here in.
Scrolling and speed should be improved in this build as well.
I do confirm that it is missing the "button settings" but do we even have any mappable buttons on the TD2? :P
Also this build uses a keyboard new to the rom, and as such needs testing too.

Also someone was asking what driver version and such i am using, this version is 2.06, I upgraded last minute with the new build to bring you all the latest. :P

Nice background but because the Manila text are white, a bit difficult to read. No big deal though.

Information: saw another treath information about the size of the control buttons, it is from cook avers.

The 925 Build's oversized control buttons aren't a new feature, just a corrupt gwes.

Sorry, I am not good enough with manila to fix this without a build specifically for 6.5. (which may or may not be coming soon. :D)
