I'm new to WinMo phones and have a few questions about ROM's.

1st: What are ROM's? I mean I know what they are, but what are all the ROM's posted in the development section?

2nd: How would I install these ROM's?

3rd: Is it recommended for some who is not that technically minded? ( I am only 15)

Thats all I can think of.

Thanks! Ben.

I have a feeling that my Diamond is branded to Orange (UK). Will that affect anything I do?

No, that shouldn't matter. Mine is Vodafone (NL), and you can just put any rom on it.

The things you have to do first (install HardSPL and so on) are things you only need to do once.
Installing a new ROM or (most) radio's after that takes more time to download them than to install them.

BE AWARE though that all your contacts and messages will be removed, as well as all your settings. There are various backup methods. I usually just copy the pi.vol file from the root of the phone to a safe place, then put it back after installing a new ROM. That has all your contacts (but not much more).

I store my contacts on my SIM as a back-up anyway. Would the 4gb internal storage be wiped?

Would anyone like to recommend me STABLE, finger friendly ROM that wont effect battery life too much? I basically use it for texting + Camera + Music. (I know its a waste of a brilliant mobile)

Thanks everyone. I'm just glad everyone is helpful here!
