: Flashing your device is dangerous. I take no responsibility and am not going to bother labelling this "beta" since i think pretty much everything you get from xda-devs is beta :d

Instructions for flashing:

1. Get a microsd card sized 2 gb or lower (sdhc won't work) and format it with regular fat filesystem. Copy my flash.dio to the root of the card. Insert card into your device.
2. Make sure your battery has a decent charge (over 50%) and isn't connected to any usb charge or sync cable (or else your device will just go into ruu mode).
3. Put your device into sdloader mode (holding volup+ok(button on right side) and pressing reset.)
4. Sdloader will check the file integrity, flash to your device rom, do a clean reboot (can take a minute longer than usual) and then go into the "welcome to windows mobile, tap here to continue" stuff.

Flash it, test it out, report bugs, much appreciated.

Now firmware 1.01.01 is current, many things have been improved (e.g. backlight timeout).
Can you please include that in your ROM?
You either get it when you download the latest WWE update from HP and then dump the content with keyx kitchen, or I am also just uploading the OEM folder.

hi,

gprs seems to keep on connecting. how do i disable this?

no internet accessing application or no application is running under task manager, but still gprs connects automatically.

also, from a different windows mobile phone, double pressing on the hangup key disconnects gprs. however for this model (912c), it cannot automatically disconnect. have to go to wireless manager and manually disconnect grps.

I do not find the Voice Command icon to delete it. The file explorer is bad and very simple, however the Total Commander has many more options, plus search for files, and takes up less resources.

The idea is that my rom is as light and clean as possible so that everyone can make the program you want, for example Cyberon Voice Command instead of Microsoft's

I'm from Canada, and I got my phone from Rogers. HP just released a ROM update last month for our Canadian Rogers phones, so our ROM says Revision: MP-1.20.09. This fixed some issues for me, like the keyboard lockup. Is this more recent than the 1.01.01, or is that something else you are talking about. Does this mean that we shouldn't use your v1.7 update? or that we should put that update into your 1.7? I don't know how to cook, but I will try if I have to lol

p.s. I like that you put the "MyPhone" application in there. :D

[EDIT] I'm having major problems downloading this file at work...my connection is extreeeeemely slow, and for some reasons my browsers (firefox, seamonkey) both won't let me retry this file. Could someone please post a mirror for me? Thanks!

i've tested the latest 1.8, the 'band selection' menu on phone setting i.e. Auto, GSM and 3G/HSPDA is missing. Also how to remove the lag after input (space) in keyboard when entering text? I've difficult input text faster coz it will add the (space) after the next character, e.g. The(space)qu(space)ick,
and sometimes the cursor is back forward to the character after the (space), e.g. The(space)ickqu.

just to report a vital bug: after installing 'echinaNO5' (add-in for east asian language support), the keyboard become unusable and after a long beep, my 912c is dead, so i soft reset the phone and uninstall the add-in, then back to normal~

btw, any chances i can assign the record/voiceCMD button for other apps? (at the moment, the button is just useless)

i've a 914c. The system works perfectly fine, and i found it quite fast and in a good shape! Great work!

i've a couple of things that i noticed:

1. battery life seems a bit shorten, but could be just me playing too much with it...

2. the led seems not playing "always" anymore, after receive a sms will blink orange only a few times instead of "always"

3. sometimes when i type a "." and 1 character (no spacing), then my pointer goes before the character and back to just after the ".", so i tend to type wrong email addresses, not sure if it's a new "feature" or just a bug...

4. i will also like the voicecommand button to be programmable

for the rest, it's amazing! :)

Thanks to Montecristo for fast ROM.
But I didn't like it at all. It is too customized. As for me I don't like this interface at all. Standart WM has the best usability, imho
All installed software can't be removed. And there's no way to change it to original WM. And Of course custom logos at boot isn't a good thing, imho.
It would be great to find ROM which looks like the same as original HP's, with all same stock software, but with latest updates and fixes. So everyone can make their IPAQs look like as they want easily.

wow, installed the 1.9 and all is fine...
it is really fast compared to the 1.71 and 1.8

not sure if it's ok but i will just ask if possible to get:
1. The voiceCMD button can't be set (i know ppl already reported this)
2. Can get back the default 2 games?
3. Settings: i disabled the GPRS connection but seems ignored and the phone keeps connecting to the GPRS to retrieve information
4. i saw you install Google Map under GPS (in your log you said removed)
5. can you put back the widgets? will be fun to play with if they work

Question about charging: I don't have the official Ipaq charger, but it's a similar wall charger 5 volt, 1amp output. When I look under settings/power/ it shows up as USB fast charging. Is that would it should read? It's charging SLOW! 25% in one hour charge...

That's weird because I looked up that exact information today, and the charger that it comes with is specified as 5V 1A. I forgot my charger at home and wanted to charge it at work, and manged to find a 5V, 550mA so I figured that'd be safe. It showed up as AC charging, and I got about a 20% charge in like, half an hour...so....sounds like something's up on your end?!

This rom is pretty quick, but it does have it's share of problems too. It's not playing well with WM 6.5 plug-ins and CHome right now. But I can see when it's working fully that it'll be sooooooo niiiiiiice!

Also, there's a WM 7.0 theme for 6.5 as well, but I don't really recommend it because of the size of our screen. The "highlight" that lets you know which tab you're on on the Today screen is just the right size, and allows you to still see some of the other tabs. On the WM 7.0 theme, that "highlight" is huge, and occupies a lot of real estate. Thus, I like standard 6.5 . The JohNRb Win7D blue QVGA is a very slick theme :)

Hi there! Thank you very very much, after all it was indeed simple so I looked over it. Every time when I was installing my stuff the issue was returning at a certain point. I think it happened when I installed Dutch autocorrection. I changed that registry setting to 0413 for the dutch language and it seems to work okay. I'll test it during the day and report back.

About the weather issue Deezy7:

Do you have the red cross icons trouble thingy? I fixed that with a file I downloaded here, it seemed that the links from accuweather were changed, so the plugin couldn't update right. If that's you're problem, then I can post the right file for you.

strange... when I was fiddling in the registry this afternoon, before the "right" solution posted here, I had also a few times that my keyboard didn't react. when I changed the 0413's back to 0409 (WWE) it just worked again. Not one hotkey worked, nor the keyboard.

About the dutch language cab, it works, and have always worked for me.

The mscr works for me.

Try to undo the registry key's you've changed, and I think you'll find your keyboard working again.

this cab will enable the threader sms back 2 normal :)

if u have threaded by difault and want 2 disable i will make one more cab

the reg hack is HKCU/software/MS/inbox/settings/oem
but working with cabs is fast way to do/undo a tweak =install/uninstall

Yes, it works, at least in the MC 1.5 version. If you write an "a" and then press the FN+Sym key several times, it is changed into â,ä and so on. The file sym.0409.txt is responsible for that, it should exist in \windows.

91x have two modes for charging: USB and 'normal'. USB has very limited current to not to destroy PC's USB ports. It can take 10 hours to charge. 'Normal' mode is much quicker, but it is sensed from the pins of the charger. So to use other charger's 1Amp you have to change the pinout to have the same as in original charger or the one Deezy has.

Unfortunately, so far the keyboard layout of the 914 cannot be changed in the registry using the CurLang entry, because it does not exist like for other PPCs.

If you need a different keyboard layout (e.g. different from QWERTY, e.g. QWERTZ), you can use AEKMap.

Sending and receiving emails works fine, check your email settings or flash it again.

I think I know what screwed it up last time. After flashing, when going through the phone set up, I did the e-mail setup right when the phone first started. However, the HP Update started as well while I was doing the e-mail setup. And then when it finished, it restarted my phone while in the middle of setting up the email.

My advice would be to set this up on your own after, not right away when first booting up the phone.

3. most problematic: msn and live are not logging in (i'm in WIFI in office) and these 2 are not able to connect (while the rest is working fine)

4. record button is still not working

5. google map is the old version

6. Today "Blue" theme seems still the HTC one as all is still red

NOTE: reinstalling windows live from CABs fixed the problem


up to now these are the main problems i found... hope it is not too depressing, because overall it's an amazing job :)

What I meant is, it's cleaner just to have one registry entry / one folder with same content i.e. programs rather two folders with same content. ...just makes it confusing.
As I said, not biggie and I can be easily fixed.

Version 2.3 looks promising. I just finished flashing my phone.

Only problem I see is the right softkey on the homescreen, when it's on the clock says Set. I'm not sure if you wanted it that way, but in my opinion the Comm Manager was a better choice.

A couple of bugs - keyboard still does not show whether CAPS or FN is activated onscreen.
The GPS Viewer app included seems to be built for a portrait screen, there might be some missing buttons which are hidden from view at the bottom.

Also, have you come across a way to change the screen orientation from landscape to portrait (and back) without having to SR every time?

The camera works fine for me - all features including video recording and flash, etc. I'm using Montecristo's WM6.5 version 2.3 on a 914c.

I tried 2.3 and 2.4 of your build at my 914 and it working great! I have one bugereport and maybe feature request regarding only cosmetics issues.

Bugreport:
Theme colors from today screen are ok but any other applications/menu items show default compaq blue toolbars so the default theme look inconsistent !

Feature request:
Because of inconsistency issues i installed theme from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=506584. With this theme all colors are consistent exclude ONLY dial pad background whish is as in your default theme (in 2.4 red). Is this problem of the pure black theme or something is hardwired in to dial pad ? Can you include this Pure Black theme in to your next build and/or fix this incostintency ?

Use the attached titanium notifications provided by Montecristo himself. But first uninstall the previous version and don't forget to disable the "windows default" option on today setting. I've tried the plugin and its worked perfectly.

Can you get the battery meter back on top? It seems to have vanished completely, and the only way I can check the battery level is through Start>Settings>Power, which is a big hassle. Previous builds of yours put a tiny number (percentage) in the top right, that was great.

Also, is there any way to unlock the phone through hardware buttons (i.e. without using 'slide to unlock') ?

the battery meter is back working on 2.4

for the lock, under settings you can set to use the old "classic" way instead of the new "default"

I must say that the very stable version was v2.1. The latest 2.4 has problems with my 912c such as the today screen has 1 pixel white dot, first i was shocked coz i think my lcd has a dead pixel, but after testing several pictures I can guarantee that my lcd is ok. Maybe its a broken image files or something else.

Also after I unlock the screen, I couldn't press the 2 softkeys. It'll worked after I touch the screen. I use classic lock.

Now I'm back to v2.1 which is the best from all builds now and no errors at all :D thanks for the good ROMs, Monte.

I am not aware of any reg key will change that. This is test build(well..as with all the builds after 21234 technically) so I won't expect the developer to set a switch in registry.

you should able to highlight the message first then use the menu so you don't need to open it up before you can reply to all

The file you have to change to get the background the phone is dlrback_land.png.

Any chance you can add the iPAQ DataConnect stuff back in? At least as an optional component? (The problem is, here in the US, the Microsoft 6.5 AutoConnect functionality does NOT properly configure the MMS settings while [at least with 6.1] the iPAQ DataConnect did.)

How often do you use your power settings? It seems to be a bigger X button is all. Which I like personally. It's easier to get to with your finger.

the only real issue for me is Right softkey on the homescreen when it's on the clock changed to activate "Time Settings" instead of "commMgr".
As CommMgr would be more useful for on/off wireless with a couple of clicks...

No menu, no list of actions, only empty white window.

after running sdloader, ipaq resets and shows hp logo with "download image..." text. Then it hangs. Last night i left ipaq like that, hoping it runs, but in the morning i found it off..battery dead :/
now i try to flash it again, but it has been hanged since about hour.
any ideas?

First, again, Montecristo--WONDERFUL WORK!

Running 2.9.1. Just installed it an hour or so ago.

First--on the positive... I LOVE the "windows button-->left button" combo to LOCK the device! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

So far, seems stable and pretty well put together.

Very strange thing though....

Whenever I unlock the screen or push the power button to turn the screen back on, I get where "START" should be on the top of the screen "ms_sqlce_se_notify_wndproc"... Doesn't seem to do anything wrong, but VERY strange, no?

now i've format the sd card with my qtek 9000 and if i start tomtom6 i get from time to time again the error :(

Unable to start. Not enough memory is available, in other version i hav'nt this problem, i think it is since vers. 2.4

no idea, how to format the sd-card in wm 6.5? must i install an extra program? eg resco file explorer to format the card?

Best option is to format it using a Digital Camera, if available. Another option is to use a SD-USB adapter and format if with FAT32. Or you can try this software:
