i saw a "snap" at best buy the other day for sprint, and i must say i was not very impressed at first use.
the leyboard seemed pretty nice and i liked the hardware upgrades, but i dont know if its for me. (hell ill probably get one if the price is not to high and they dont require a data upgrade, i got the tzones setup right now and i fought hard to get it back)
then again when i first saw the dash on the internet i was like, man thats an ugly phone, then i got one lol. man i love the dash

So far so good. I have not had a chance to really get under the hood but as far as usage its fast, the GPS is smooth (usually have 7 to 20 sats at any given time) the battery lasts a full day with the GPS running nearly all the time (I use it as my Nav device) the track ball takes a bit getting used to but after a day or two you will wonder how you got along without it. Calls are clear and crisp. 3G is awesome.. the limited areas I have that is. The only real issue I have with it is speaker volume (watching movies, listening to MP3's etc) It seems a bit low in my opinion.
Mine is T-Mo branded device, I got it through.. lets say.. the back door

So did Tmo do a sloppy job on the ROM like they did with the Dash or is it usable? Does it have useless crap like handigo and will there be an HTC unbranded ROM availible for it?

Yes, its sloppy, and T-Mobile added their junk of course. But the ROM aint too bad considering. As for as the HTC ROM, There will be a WM 6.5 HTC ROM (at least that is the buzz) and T-Mo will probably offer an update to 6.5 as well. Of course it wont take long for the folks here to offer up some variety ROMs

I seriously think I might use my upgrade credit to get one.
My company has been blackberry-only for 2 years, and i'm finally getting a dash for my personal line, but I may decide to try one out.
I'll have to get blackberry connect on it though.
Now, if they would just hurry up and get 3G in Albuquerque and EL Paso

3g is offered here where I live, but Im moving to Missouri where Ill be roaming on ATnT. Oh well, I wonder if I can weasel out of my contract due to living in an area where no service is offered and unlock my T-Mo phones.

You can get out of contract if you can prove you moved to an area without service. As far as unlocking, do it before you cancel contract, a stipulation is you have to be an active customer to get the unlock codes

Cool and yea im aware of that. I been a long time customer of T-mo thought and with flex pay I get free roaming. So Im not sure what Im gonna do, if I do switch to a similar plan Ill be paying around 15 dollars more a month and not get fav 5.
Have you tried the pocket emulators (snes,NES) on the snap yet? How do they run? I was thinkin of just remapping the D-pad to QWES so I wouldnt have to play using the track ball. Also what kind of java is it running?

It has JBED, but since I dont use Java its not that big of a deal. I installed Smartgear and a few hundred ROMs, no problems so far on any of the games, the track ball actually works perfectly with the games.. since it is not a spin and cycle track ball it works pretty much the same as the D-Pad. I installed most of what I had on my Dash and the only program to give me any 'issues' was Duke 3d.. but after tweeking the user files it runs perfectly.

I would get it if there was a GBA emulator for smartphones.
But until then, I'll be putting my eye on a new PPC xD
