Very shit it would seem. I only used tomtom for about 15 or 20 minutes today and played a couple of vids for a minute or two. Nothing else I can think of and no phone calls made. The fully charged battery this morning was giving me low battery status by the afternoon. Wtf? This is the 900 mAh one that came with it.

I last a full day with frequent internet/video/game use. maybe 2.5 hours of that stuff, 1 hour of text messaging, 1 hour of phone calls, 30 minutes of just dicking around, and the rest of the time with it in on in my pocket.
there's a bigger battery available - the model is "BP E270"

if you would convert video for hardware accelration - it would not use 90% of battery, only 40% )

if you use a different ROM, some are more efficient with battery life.
also, there are third party batteries as big as 1800 mAh. be warned that this is just the manufacturer's claim and they're usually made in China. I think a site called dealextreme has it for the cheapest but there's a ton of different versions on the net. most bigger batteries come with a bigger back plate to accommodate the extra size. most do not have the "diamond" detailing.

I've got the 1800mAh Cameron Sino and it works brilliantly. I can leave the Wifi on all day, make calls, browse the internet without too much worry of the battery giving out half way through the day. With the origonal battery (900mAh) I practically gave up on the phone and used a Nokia E51 instead. The only downside to the new back cover is as tacky as hell and you need to put some tin foil over the GPS Antenna for it to work.
However, I can actually use the phone now on a day to day basis. Oh and the phone stands on its side now due to the extra thickness so I can watch TV progs etc without holding it.

I might try for a more powerful battery but not one of those oversized ones with bigger backplate. And I'm not sure I'm ready to risk a different rom, I'd frankly be bricking 'bricking' it.
What amazes me is, why did htc supply such a weak 900mAh battery in a phone which undoubtedly requires MUCH more power than say, my artemis, and that came with a 1200mAh battery. Doesn't make sense.

i am converting films for hw acceleration,i use mp4 for hd to convert them and than i use htc album to wact movie....and battery is disaster :(
also i am using nuedynamicclock but it only helps at night(it should help also when ppc is on cause i reduced voltage for 528MHz(from 1.35v to 1.1v),and i am using rom that is tweaked for minimal battery usage...it helps a little bit but not enough :(
900mAh is way to low for this device...
also if i want to buy new battery i need also new backplate so my diamond will be fatter???
