View Full Version : WM 6.5 Native Kernel/nk.exe/xip.bin/oemxipkernel for Topaz
Da_G

Hi friends!
I think the topic pretty much says it all;
This is a native WM 6.5 Topaz OEMXIPKernel/xip.bin/nk.exe - aware of the new Slot 60/Slot 61 virtual memory layout - what does this mean for you as a chef?
Now you don't have to recmod any modules in \SYS anymore, to port over WM 6.5! And you have 64mb free to convert more files to modules!
But you will need to use a relocation tool that is aware of the new memory layout;
Ervius Visual Kitchen + Bepe's New Kitchen do this with the "Real WM 6.5 AKU" checkbox
There's also a build of "WMReloc" 2.0 floating around that may support this, that would be compatible with the "old style" kitchen (buildos + g'reloc, it would replace g'reloc)
even newer (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532679) update!
Check THIS POST (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3987971&postcount=14) for an updated OEMDrivers you will need to make this kernel fully function :)

Hello Da_G,
A big thank you ;)
I searched the OEMXipKernel of Topaz 6.5 :) ... you would not have the ROM 2.01.xxx.x also by chance?
Un grand Merci :)

I'm new to the Visual Kitchen. Quick question re file structures:
Current kitchen has the 21806 folder and xip.bin + romhdr.bin in the ROM/Topaz folder.
1) If I replace the xip.bin with the newer one Tom posted, I assume I cannot cook the 21806 ROM again. Correct?
2) If that is the case, is there a need to keep the 21806 folder at all?
3) I need to create a new os.nb.payload as well?

There's no difference between the 2 OEMXIPKernels,
But the OEMDrivers is required for it to work, so Tom posted both.
Port ONLY nk.exe - that should do the job (if you don't want to use oemdrivers)

Hi Tom,
I'm from Uni forum. I'm working on Da_G's new nk.exe for Uni.
Could you please give me some hints about the OEM drivers and that will help me to adapt the oem drivers for my device.
@Da_G:
Thanks mate for your wonderful innovation.
Your new nk.exe do not support 128MB ram at Universal, it utilizes only 64MB. I tried to patch it. But unable to match the memory layout.
Any hints...?

This (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=492769) may help you in dumping a ROM.

Is it possible to use this in the old generation kitchen?
If so, what to do? Because I get some errors. I've tried M'Reloc but I don't know what to fill in.
The new generation visual kitchen is IMHO to heavy. When in use, I can't use other programs properly...

Thankyou! I've read the tutorial, but the Kitchen is IMHO still too heavy for my system. Is there a way too cook WM6.5 with the older generation Kitchen? If so, how because I get a error when BuildOS is busy with the registry.
I've tried M'Reloc but don't know what to fill in.
Can I fill in the values I've found in your tutorial?
HONOR_SLOT0_MODULES=
set SLOT_0_END=0x00060000
set SLOT_1_END=0x02020000
Thank you in forward!

jerpelea made one available in the Nike forum that I cooked with. The link for my ROM (April) is here (http://www.4shared.com/file/99029753/3dd4731d/Kitchen21500320.html). However, all the OEM/SYS/and ROM will need to be replaced, as it was for the Nike.

Hi everybody,
does the new "native 6.5 Kernel" solve the problem with the high battery drain of the 6.5 Rom's? The 6.1 Rom's keeps much longer than the 6.5.
Thanks
Tom :)

These worked fine for me. I've been able to cook both the set Tom put up and the newer ones UDK put up. I didn't have to set old kernel, just real aku, etc; using Ervius visual 1.6. As far as light/heavy, it takes my system about 20-30 seconds to cook a light ROM with this.
(E8400@3GHz, 4GB, Win7RC 64-bit).
My biggest problem is that I need a better base ROM to work from. I was working on the 1.40 found in the Wiki, but I don't have the skills to merge a 6.5 system onto a originally 6.1 ROM. Thus, I've been building on the 2.01 beta ROM that !Aman! put up.
What advise can ye masters give for a lowly apprentise in need of a suitable base ROM to learn on?

I downloaded the Kitchen. Replaces the ROM and OEM folder, but what do you use as SYS folder? Can't find 6.5 SYS
