View Full Version : Titanium Layout for WM 6.5 Phones

Here is my rendition of the titanium sliding home screen.
I have included a cab file to install. After install, reboot, and then go to settings-->home screen-->and on the Layout, pick Titanium Media Topbar.
This was installed on NRG's 6.5 energy ROM so i don't have any testing on whether or not this works properly on ookbas 3Volution ROM. It also is intended with the topbar in mind. I'm not sure what it will not look like if you dont have the topbar already installed. Please use at your own risk. It should uninstall cleanly for anyone wanting to remove it, however if you have installed rickwyatts version it may leave behind some reminants, so you may want to try and uninstall his first before installing mine.

Thanks go out to NRGZ28, rickwyatt and frauhottelmann with their assistance in getting this layout to this point.

There is a settings panel right now, but it doesnt display any images. If anyone wants to talke this, let me know what a fix would be and i will include it in the .cab.

edit: I've included reflective gmail and yahoo mail icons as well for the mail panel

Here are some screenshots. :

why is the right soft key set time and not contacts

pudgedaddy
22nd June 2009, 07:56 PM
why is the right soft key set time and not contacts

A:) Because its the titanium panel layout
B:) Because you are on the time panel, not on a contacts panel.

its quite an easy change if you're familiar with editing the registry. go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Chome\CClock then edit the two values SK2TEXT and SK2URL..... change the SK2TEXT to read Contacts and the SK2URL to read :MSCONTACTS then exit your registry and if you have chome refresh use that. otherwise reboot your phone.

Hi I have a question...
Is it possible to customize the order of the panels...
I would love to have the time panel somewhere in the middle set as default...
and all the other panels arranged up and down the way i like them the most...
That would be killer option...
Thanx

so you want to show which panel is first and so on right? its in the .xml fil on your application data/home and i believe the file name it titanium_media_topbar.home.xml or close to it. anyway you can edit the file in notepad or word pad on your pc and at the bottom there is text referring to the plugins separated with a comma, just re-arrange the plugins and then copy over the home.xml file back into the original location and reboot your phone.

Alternatively, simply use CHome Configurator (CHome Config in the start menu) to modify the order of the panels or plugins).

Start->CHome Config->Menu->[Move Up/Move Down] as necessary.

It works well on my phone.

On my phone, I had to modify the registry to change the color of the "soft keys bar" to a flat black color. I have attached a *.reg file to help with that (disclaimer: modify the registry on your phone at your own risk).

copy the *.reg file to /My Documents/ folder on your phone
Start->Tweaks->Registry Editor->Menu->Import->[select *.reg file]

Thanks a lot to pudgedaddy, frauhottelmann and all others for the nice titanium panel (wm6.5 might be new on the inside, but this panel definitely makes it "look & feel" new).

A couple of things to consider making the wm6.5 more than just skin deep or at least finishing off the look might be:

(1) making the "soft keys bar" transparent or at least pseudo transparent like the iconbar (using the appropriate pixels of the wallpaper)

(2) using a transparent version of the home screen wallpaper as a background for the "start menu", "recent programs". And maybe other screens as well contacts, dialer, call history, settings e.t.c (though I would imagine that might increase latency in loading those screens, but a wish list nonetheless)

Sorry... this is not pudgedaddy, but I can answer based on my own experience (gained over the past week with tweaking the homescreen).

My recommendation would be that you try things out you may be surprised by what you will find.

To answer your question, though, the default behavior is that whenever you press the home button it will take you to the clock panel regardless of the ordering of the panels.

Thanx man... Appreciate that.
Also, the joke (about trying things) is on me! Cool.:)

But I had to ask before experimenting anyway, cause I own SE P1i (a zombie phone) and my GF owns the MDA Mail aka Excaliba (witch is amazingly still alive and kicking) and goes with couple of strict rules, with one of them being: Don't mess my period calendar! Or else...!
So now you understand the true nature of my problem, you know why i had to ask.

Anyway great help from you guys... I appreciate. 10Q

This is working great on my Excalibur with NRG's 6.5, I don't have the Topbar running because I absolutely hate the icons (especially the battery one!) but can report it seems fine with the standard Windows Mobile icons.

Now off to tweak and customise it :-) thanks for a great release...

I was wondering if you can explain this in a little bit more detail to me?

I have done some messing around with Titanium_320x240 in the /Windows folder and have managed to get some fonts and what not changed, but I'm curious about some of the references I've found in the file.

Take the "text" panel for instance, I can see there are different layers for "TextExpanded" and "TextCondensed" which presumably refer to the state of the panel, whether it is highlighted and thus expanded or condensed.

Then inside there are the individual references to positioning of pictures, text and what not.

But take for instance:

<!-- Line 2 -->
<Text ID="Text 2">

...
</Text>

I'm assuming this is a reference to something, asking the OS for the current state of the text messages and somewhere there are some pre-defined messages that, depending on the current state either report back say "No new messages" or something else, depending on the current state. These sort of references appear everywhere in the XML file.

But where do these references originate? Where stores the different states and how can one go about modifying the text associated with them? So, for instance, to use the above example - suppose I wanted to change "No new messages" to "No new text messages" - how would I go about doing that?

Changing colors, fonts and what not is easy - because these are directly defined in the XML and easily changeable, but these references are confusing and I want to modify them!

Finally - pictures. To take text messaging again

<Image ID="Image 1">...

to where is "Image 1" refering to?

Please can someone help! I want to learn more! :)

the gmail and yahoo are setup through your normal mail app. when your email is setup it will show up in the cmail panel. i included my custom gmail and yahoo images in the .cab so all you shouls have to do is setup your gmail & or yahoo email account refresh the home page or reboot and you should see them there. its the next to last panel btw.

Ahhh... I see, you are using the 3vo ROM.

Well, my thoughts are that they are different types of panels in that they use different components or plugins (bronze, iconbar & e.t.c).

However, they use the same mechanisms to work (registry, *.cpr, *.home.xml), so the CHome Configurator should work since it only modifies the registry entries defining the plugins list and order. Find it on this forum, install it and it should work.

I have been rocking the WM 6.5 EnergyROM by NRGZ28 and the CHome Configurator works just fine.

I have used both ROMS before, but I favor the EnergyROM because, in my opinion, it is cleaner and defers customization to the user which makes it more "customizable".

I think the 3vo ROM is excellent, but contains too much "look & feel" customization that makes it difficult to suit everybody's preference. I prefer the minimalistic look.

I think the perfect ROM is the one that contains a set of non-redundant apps and no customizations.

Thanx Pudgedaddy. This works really well, and I only have a very few questions/quirks. I had to get used to the top panel being approximately half way in the screen. Is it supposed to be that way, or am I missing something. Secondly, is there a way to make the panels more transparent/less dark? I would like to be able to "see through" them to show the full background.

Other than that this is great work. Rockin' your panels, and awilaman's weather, my phone is very eye pleasing to me. Thanx again. Keep up the great work.

actually the titanium look gives it a "cleaner feel"

as for why chome config works on the energy 6.5..its because it still uses the glasspanels from 6.1. and the 3vo rom uses titaniums. however theres is a way to switch b.w. the glass panel and titanium in the 3vo. takes about 30 seconds.

Yes it woul be great if we could get the titanium panel tilted up...
(Say, Only one text above the panel and three above chould do it)

And i really need option to get this on Sliding Panels without Energy Top Bar
(actually this cab works too but i had some stability issues)

I fixed the panels to appear lighter so that I can see more of the background. Using Roloracers File Changer app, I loaded the Bronzeres.dll and the panels look just like I like them now. Thanks to you Pudgedaddy, as well as Roloracer and awilaman. I think this looks mahvalous :D now, well at least according to my preferences.

Ya, I have seen that before. Sorry l0lcats, but I think it's fugly. :D I know it's about personal preferences. I am a minimalist. To me that layout is just too "busy". For me, less on my home screen is better, so the background shines through. Guess thats just the artist in me. :)

I installed this on my Jack and it's doing a strange thing with the wallpaper that the AT&T Sliding Panel home does on WM6.5 - it chops it up and doesn't display the whole image. Does anybody know why this happens or how to fix it? Example:

I have a quick question, will this only work with the excalibur? I know this is not an actual ROM which is why I ask. I have a Samsung Code and am looking for a better home screen interface and wanted to see what I can find here.

ok, it's not the .xml. it's in the .cpr. particularly this string. <Image ID="Background" Opacity="1.0" Top="-54" Width="320" Height="240" Source="ConfettiPlus::WallpaperBitmap"/>
you want to change the part that's in the red. change it to the same as your other .cpr's.

if your phone is running a 6.5 rom, then it should work. however i can't confirm that. if your feeling adventurous you can try.

Ok... here's my deal -

I have an HTC Ozone with the official "leaked" 6.5 rom on it.

I want to run PD's titanium panels on it because I do think they give it a much cleaner and more crisp user look. However when I install the panels and then go to Settings>Home Screen>Titanium Media Topbar I instantly lose my top bar. I've tried looking through the .cpr file to see whats going on as well as the .xml and have run into a wall.

If I install NRG's Top Bar Cab it will install the "3d" colored icons and those will show up. However, I prefer the traditional b&w ones.

How can I get the old icons to show up?

Any help as far as where to look would be great!!!!

Please go to SETTINGS>HOME SCREEN and select one that says 'TOPBAR' ... that will give you the topbar in the theme....if there aren't any (or the ones that have it are not what you want), post back and I will help further :)

When I select the one that says topbar I get no icons.

If I first install the NRG Tool Bar then I get the colored "3d" Top Bar.

What I'm trying to do is use this Titanium Panel and retain the stock top bar.

I tried the rickywatt panel layout and it didnt display properly... the panels were on top of each other.

Thanks... I am looking over this and trying to get up to speed all of it.

Question for you or anyone else even... which file is responsible for Top Bar and top bar icons... i.e., how does NRG and Roloracer get those icons to change and where is the default language set at?

I've been searching for a few days now and am coming up short... I dont want to be a pain and ask for a hand out so a gentle nudge in the right direction would be awesome.

Have you read much of my tutorial? I cover that very question! The .home.xml files located in Application Data/Home contain the basic initialization parameters for the Today Screen. There are usually 2 plugins : each with names iconbar and Bronze (or a variation of such). iconbar, by its name, is the plugin for the topbar which you are trying to get working. Bronze (or a variation) is the plugin for the actual panels on the today-screen and the icons, gfx, etc.

Be sure to really read the tutorial if you want to learn about the CPR...i feel i covered most everything in there :) (I will post an update to that tutorial as soon as I find free time).

Also, please upload the Titanium Media home.xml file (the one WITHOUT the word topbar). I forgot that the one that says topbar is formatted to contain an alternate topbar .dll :)

Try unzipping the attached file and placing it in the "/Application Data/Home" folder, then going to Settings > Home Screen. You should get a theme called TitaniumPanel_Media (notice, NO TOPBAR). That should give you the black and white, basic icons :)

I didnt see this post till I came into the office this morning.

On my train ride in I had my laptop out, looking at the home.xml files that I had and your tutorial... I made the changes myself and it worked. Now that I see that the xml you posted has the same changes I made I am really happy that I was able to take what you did and your instructions and "hack" my way through it. Ok... I'm in the home stretch now. Thanks to everyone's help this is where my stands -

I have PD Titanium Panels Layout installed.

I have an edited Titanium...home.xml file that allows me to see the default B&W HTC top bar icons.

I have Titanium Weather installed and working properly.

Everything is good... EXCEPT... My email icon on the top bar, the one that notifies you of a new message doesn't show up. Every other icon shows up when active... i.e., txt, wifi, BT, vibrate.

Any thoughts?

Titanium_320x240 conbine messages (http://rapidshare.com/files/249847661/Titanium_320x240.cpr)

When I use this .cpr the icons show up as red x's when its condensed.

When it's expanded the text overlaps and the VM icon is a red X.

Any ideas... I've been poking around the .cpr and comparing it to the original PD .cpr and cant quite get a grip on it.

The CPR file will sometimes reference Registry Values to find out locations of files or find out the DLL the resource is located in, or will sometimes directly access the DLL (if it is system i believe...).

Anyways, the RED X's are the System Default for "Invalid Image." This most likely means that they point to the wrong location or are trying to use a DLL that is NONEXISTANT on your phone. To fix this, identify which ones they are (by doing some commenting in the XML, or possibly by commense sense if possible) and change the paths according to my Tutorial on CPRs

Ok... I've almost got all my problems sorted out.

Here's my current issue...

I'm using PD's Titanium layout with the Titanium Weather plug in and a stock 6.5 Rom (cant use a cooked rom for a few reasons) and so far I've gotten most of it to work properly.

I used the .cpr file from this post - keeping with pudgedaddy original design here is one with the missed calls, voice mails, text, and email combined. with chome config support.
Titanium_320x240 conbine messages (http://rapidshare.com/files/249847661/Titanium_320x240.cpr)

to incorporate the "message panel" to PD's layout. Now, however each panel in it has different font layouts - the first one for Missed Calls is the correct one I believe but each of the subsequent ones is different, i.e., text on top of text, alignment issues and so forth. (See Pic's).

What I want to know is, where would the settings for these layouts be located so I could try and edit them. I've searched the .cpr, and home.xml files and have come up short. I went into the registry and just found the location for the icons. Any help would be awesome!

Re-reading my post right above yours I can see why it wasnt very clear as to what exactly I am trying to do. So... here goes (hopefully) more clear -

If you look at the screen shots in post #85 the following is what I want to accomplish -

Edit the title of the "calendar" panel when it is condensed to read "Calendar" - see screen shot #1

Edit the notification panels for voicemal/text/mms/email in screen shots # 3,4 and 5 to look have the same format as Missed Calls in screen shot #2.

What I'm doing is using the titanium_320_240.cpr and changing one value at a time in each line to try and map what lines effect what text - its slow going :-)

As far as editing the title for the calendar panel - i am searching through the reg but have come up real short.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

UPDATES: I've succesfully edited the .cpr to do what I want regarding the Notifications panels - YEAH!!!!

Still trying to figure out how to edit the "calendar" title though...

Also, any one have any idea what the highlighted portiosn of the following string in .cpr would refer to... i.e., where can they be found?

<Layer ID="TextPanel">
<!-- Line 1 -->
<Text ID="Text 1" Left="10" Top="40" Width="160" Height="50" FontFamily="Nina" FontSize="7" FontStyle="Regular" Wrap="True" VerticalAlignment="Top" Trimming="EllipsisCharacter">
<TextStage TextOffsetType="TextOffsetDropBottomRight" Color="#00000000" TextOffset="1" BlurFactor="3" Alpha="1.0"/>

I didnt mention this in my tutorial, thinking it wouldnt come up much, but it did so here it is:

The titles for some (if not all) of the panels is stored within a dll file on the phone (the name of which escapes me). I believe you can try to change it, but I don't know how successful that would be.

About those values you wanted to know about

TextPane refers to an area for text, and Text 1 refers to a preset variable for text. I don't know which panel that is from, but if you cant find that in the registry, then it is most likely ineracting with a dll or exe file, and thus cannot be easily changed...

Thanks alot for all the info... I'm really moving forward in my ability to customize and edit all this stuff.

I figured that the titles for the panels would be stored in .dll... problem is I cannot extract all the .dll's from the device to try and edit them.

As far as the "text panel" stuff, I've been able to track most of them down through the registry so thats progress!

Next question... how do you go about changing the softkey bar? I know some rom cookers have been able to point the device to a *.png file, i.e., black_softkey.png. I am trying to figure out how they were able to do so. The problem is my rom is a stock OEM 6.5 flash running modified PD Titanium Panels and I guess that *.png hack wasnt included.

Any more insight?

Hello,

I installed both NRG and Roloracer's topbar. Everything seems to be working well except for the battery icon. Battery icon shows the full charge icon (if fully charged), however any other battery level only shows the faulty battery icon (empty battery icon with the "x" mark)

I looked into the \Windows directory and found the following:

CHome_Iconbar_BatteryCharging
CHome_Iconbar_BatteryFault

Do I lack some files for the different levels of battery? Because it seems that is how it works for the phone signal (I think), since mine only has full charge/faulty

CHome_Iconbar_Signal0
CHome_Iconbar_Signal1
CHome_Iconbar_Signal2
CHome_Iconbar_Signal3
CHome_Iconbar_Signal4
CHome_Iconbar_Signal5

Any help is highly appreciated :)

Thanks!
