I have no idea which Eng SPL listed on the first page are for 32A or 32B boards. And reading the dozens of pages of this topic didn't help me much... Is there any safe way to tell if that SPL is going to brick my phone? I have an 32A board, what SPL will NOT brick it?

why its is weird to me is that i had to use a uk hack of the google maps to get it to work, and i am on cyanogen 4.2.6...
but i cant mount in adb its says cant find device, would that be because of my spl, i changed it when i got the phone so i could change the splash screen..any insight would be helpful....

Try with relentless rooter... If it doesn't work, try goldcard...
In Chile we have that SPL and I know for sure it can be rooted using the goldcard method (and the first sappimg that is shown in the guide) but It's safer trying first the relentless rooter...
Confirm if you can root it using Relentless because I haven't been able to try it out...

I'm trying to switch my spl from 1.33.2010 to 1.33.2005 and whenever I reboot the phone after applying the .zip, the update wont apply itself, it gets to the "formatting cache" dialogue, then it stops and returns to the recovery options. Anyone have a solution?
Extract the hboot from the zip and flash it with fastboot.

Same thing here switching from 0008 to 2009 but after another reboot I checked fastboot and SPL was successfully flashed.

Which would be the recommended SPL, and what would be the advantages? (other than fastboot?)

Hi I am a total noob and have been reading through loads and loads of pages on here and am getting a bit confused - please can someone help?
here are the details of my phone:
HBOOT-1.33.0007 (SAPP10000) : PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G : CPLD-10
I have read that this may be a perfect SPL but am I right in thinking that the 'one click' method from unlockr can get round this? do I just need to root follwing that method with the amon recovery or do I still need to change SPL? if so do I do this by following the goldcard method on here?
is that all necessary if all I want to do is flash a new ROM or do I just root and upload the ROM? (preferably cyanongen's latest offering or one of the many Hero ROM's that are floating about) I am still trying to get my head around this all, what I really want is to load the new ROM and use Loccy's betterbrowser.
If someone could explain in more detail, that would be great - not each process as I have the tutorials but just what stages I need to go through (for example - root using one click method...)
These are some of the things I have been looking at:

any pointers to other tutorials I may need to look at would be also appreciated

so I just follow the one click method then flash the ROM normally - no need to upgrade SPL? if I do that can I revert back to the stock and have full recovery or is that why I would have to change SPL?
sorry if that seems like a dumb question, I am just confused as to why people have recommended changing SPL via goldcard method if it is not required to get a new ROM - what kind of things do you need to change SPL for?

That depends on what kernel your rom is using. The one click method uses some vulnerabilities of the kernel that allows to have root access, allowing to flash a new recovery image. Newer roms use newer kernels that have solved that vulnerability. On this last case the one click method it wont work... You have to try it to see if it works...
If that doesn't work, I guess you have to change the SPL. If you do get it to work, you also have to chanve the spl if you want to change your boot splash image...

I *have* bricked my phone, I flashed the 2010 spl, phone restarted and now is stuck on the "htc magic" splash screen and I cannot boot into any recovery.
I have removed battery/home-back-power-vol down/ etc but the only thing I see is the initial htc splash.
Is there any other options I can try? I have a nandroid backup but cannot get to the fastboot screen for it to be any use :-(

What steps did you make when flashing over the spl? did you have the latest radio?

I updated the radio from HTC develooper site - "ota-radio-2_22_19_26I.zip" and then the SPL "update.Engineering-SPL-HBOOT-1.33.2010-signed.zip"
I followed with the "signed-google_ion-ota-14721.zip" (also from the developers site)
When it first rebooted it showed the screen that looks like "a phone being taked out a box" for about 20 seconds, then it restarted itself.
Since then it will not get past the "htc magic" splash screen. All usual attempts made with keys strokes and batteries out, I cant even get a response when connecting the USB.
Thanks for taking the time to reply, its appreciated

I finally got myself an Eng. SPL... sheesh that was scary! :-)
I had
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.009 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17
then updated to 1.33.2010 and had problems with WI-FI (very slow data rate - not sure how this can be SPL-related though) so I flashed 1.33.2005 and now everything works as it should.
I now have
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2005 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17
I noticed that the boot sequence is slower than with my original SPL but no big deal

This also happened to my Magic Vodafone PT.
This is how I solve it: take the battery out, insert the cable, insert the battery, power on with "back+power"
It I'll stuck on logo but fastboot is active! Also, try varius combinations to get to the fastboot with the logo

Dear Ramon Ra, i just tried to flash engineering .2005 SPL onto my HTC Magic (Singapore MobileOne) with HBOOT-1.33.0009 (SAPP10000) : Sapphire PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H : CPLD-12. Following all your procedures step by step, after pressing the green button, it reboots and goes to recovery rom v1.5.1H. At the bottom it says Formatting CACHE:... and it stays like that for a long time. Is the flashing complete? Can i proceed to reboot the phone using HOME + BACK? What should i do? Would appreciate if anyone who has done it can advise. Thank you.

Hi, I'm kind of new to here, I got a HTC Magic from Canada Rogers and it reads
SAPPIRE PVT 32A ENG S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0010 (SAPP50000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17
From what I read, it's what's called a perfect SPL
So I followed some guides and successfully flashed the 1.33.2005 engineering SPL. all was good, but just one small question,
the PVT in the first line becomes UNKNOWN ....
so now it's
SAPPIRE UNKNOWN 32A ENG S-OFF H
is this suppose to happen?
I haven't run into any trouble with it after using the phone so long though.
just curious..

I have a 1.33.0004 SPL from Vodafone in New Zealand. It seems this is identical to the UK and Dutch SPLs.
I can flash any 32B-compatible ROM I like onto my phone. I've tried almost all of them and they all boot and run.....Anything from Dwang or Cyanogen or Enomther's Donut ROMs or Eugene373's Eclair ROMs runs perfectly (except for lack of camera driver on Eclair) . Wes Garner said one of his (9.2?) needed Danger SPL.....and I hadn't noticed and flashed it on....and it ran fine on my phone.
I suspect there is less than perfect knowledge out there about SPLs and the HTC Magic 32B.
I've been looking for a situation where there would be a compelling benefit to changing my phones' SPLs and I haven't found one yet. If anything, it looks like going to some other SPL, like 1.33.2005, might limit what I can do rather than extend it.
Underlying all this is my own desire to - at some point - flash the vendor ROM back onto the phone and either receive some future OTA update or do a factory reset and sell it....which ever happens to come first.
But for me, the HTC Magic 32B with an H1.33.0004 SPL looks to be an android sweet spot. At the full 528MHz the HTC Magic 32B phone is very responsive and as fast or faster as any I've seen....including the iPhone 3Gs. With Cyanogen Mod 4.2.11.1 or Wes Garner's Build 10.2 I'm pretty much right where I want to be.
I could see changing the SPL if it prevented me from loading other ROMs, but as I can load almost anything as it is, I can't see how any SPL other than the one I already have can offer me anything at all.
I'm beginning to wonder if there might not be a market elsewhere for the unlocked-when-new HTC Magic 32B phones from New Zealand.

I have rooted 2 g1's and a myt3g perfect spl. I was working on my second mt3g when things went wrong. The relentless router method with flashrec wasnt working, maybe due to the fact i never wiped before downgrading..? anways i went to work on the gold card but when i came across the step of downloading the sappimg.zip i only had the sappimg.nbh file, so i scoured the internet and than scoured it some more unable to find it but one named something like ch...blah blah sappimg.zip was good enough for me i thought, utnil i realized it after the splash screen repeated magic vodafone or something..haha. it used to say 32b s-on G 1.33.0006 but now is 1.33.0014 with an H... i tried fastbooting am ra's recovery and even tried flashing the nbh file but would not let me downgrade. I dont know what else to do. and also could someone please send me the real sappimg.zip file. Thanks

My questions:
1. Do I need to upgrade this to SPL 1.33.2009 or some other (like SPL 1.33.2005 as some say they did)? Do I need to use a "matching" ENG SPL (meaning from 1.33.00XX to 1.33.20XX)?
2. CursorSense instructions/warnings say I need to make sure I have radio updated before updating SPL (I assume it goes for those specific roms), do I need to worry about radio with this first update here aswell?

No, you can choose any.

No, you don't need to update your radio for these SPLs.
The CursorSense instructions refer to flashing the Hero (or the newer Asian Magic) SPL and radio to the Magic to get more system space (if I remember correctly). The SPLs in this thread are specifically for the Magic so you don't need to flash the radio.

Sorry for the bump. I'm looking for help.
I made a thread regarding my problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5594269
I have trouble accessing my SD card, as it is outputting qxdm debugging files onto my SD card and blocking system and recovery from accessing it. My SPL also changed to S-ON.
I was able to work around the problem of being unable to mount my sdcard by flashing files from my cache directory. As a result I currently have SPL 1.33.2009. I also tried to revert to an unrooted state of 1.33.0009.
My question is, do any of the SPLs usable by the HTC Dream have S-OFF forced in addition to QXDM memory debugging disabled? SPL 1.76.x has an option called 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' that changes S-ON to S-OFF and allows for SD access again, but only for Sapphire and Hero devices.
I still have warranty on the device and can return it.

For warranty purposes, simply follow these steps (http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/22/how-to-unroot-your-mytouch-3g/) from TheUnlockr. It will revert your device back to stock Cupcake and any changes (i.e engineering SPLs) you've made.

If I've got 1.33.0007 Spl
but already a customrecovery flashed
may i just put the new spl on my sdcard
an flash it in the recoverymode or will that brick
my phone ?
I am on the same situation as you, what would be the best SPL to flash on it?

So i just have to download the spl
put it to my sdcard, boot into
recoverymode (cyanogenrecovery-1.4)
choose the .zip file, flash it, press the green
button 1 time and reboot ?
and it doesnt matter that i've got the perfected 1.33.007spl ?

I updated my phone with the 1.33.2010 spl. I'm trying to install the recovery image 1.6.2 to be exact, but when i go into recovery mode after installing it the start up screen hangs up and just get the HTC Magic screen. Is my phone rooted? How do I install the recovery properly? Why wont it load up properly? Thanks in advance.

Yeah I've been looking for an eng spl for my Mt3g 1.2/Fender as well.
I guess we'll just have to wait for all the other original Mt3g to become obsolete.

I'm using a first gen MT3G w/the latest CM...
I'd like to try out other roms, but most of them say they need the danger spl. (This is the right one, right?... http://code.google.com/p/sapphire-port-dream/)
When I rooted my MT3G I used the slick one-click method, which didn't have me go through all the hoops of the goldcard and changing SPLs... can I just download the danger spl, boot to my AR recovery and update it from there... like I did for the radio recently?
Here are the specs for the fastboot...

If you have a MT3G (no matter the version), the danger spl is not for you. Its only for G1 users. If you own an MT3G changing radio or spl to flash a rom IS NOT neccessary unless the rom specficially states the MT3G users have to. Other than that if the rom says its MT3G compatible, have a go at it.

Ahhh, ok... thanks epeets! I'd much prefer to NOT brick my phone.
So... specifically, I'm wanting to try out KiNgxKxKlair (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=644275) and 2.1 build for 32B (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624411). KingKlair says you need the Death SPL (which I found is the same as Danger and Haykuro SPL, right?)... and the 2.1 says you need an Engineering SPL.
There wouldn't happen to be "one SPL to rule them all", would there? Or at least one to rule most of them?

So if I upgrade to the "Engineering SPL 1.33.2010" at the beginning of this thread I can use anything calling for the D/D/H SPL as well?... as long as it works on a 32B that is.

What I'm gathering as I do more research is that the D/D/H SPL sets up a larger system partition on the phone then the Engineering / Stock SPL... right?
So what are the differences in size of the partitions in the different SPLs?

Incorrect, the Danger spl or Haykuro spl or whatever you call it is in fact the Engineering SPL 1.33.2005 of the Sapphire (check the MD5SUM if you don't believe me).
Haykuro got lucky flashing it on a Dream, that's all.
There is absolutely nothing special about the Danger SPL, it's just a sapphire SPL that works on a Dream.

If I'm using Danger (1.33.2005) now on a MT3G 32B, can I "downgrade" to one of the general engineering builds? Should I just flash the most recent? (1.33.2010)? Is there another, newer SPL that I should flash that isn't in this thread?
Finally, do they "match". In that I mean can I use recovery to flash from Danger to your 1.33.2010, or should I use fastboot? I'm using a rom with Firerat's non-danger patch - should I wipe and re-flash that rom?
Sorry for all of the questions. I haven't done any of this crap since I first rooted my phone, so I'd like to make absolutely sure that I'm not going to mess up.
Edit: Figured it out, flashed it. Thanks.

The following SPLs "should" work on PVT 32A and PVT 32B boards :
I own a "vodafone.de magic 32b" and i flashed the latest eng-spl. All things was fine but the SPL say it is a H version but an G version. I was unable ru run amun_ra's recovery images for G fones (I did not test the H versions of the recovery)
Finally i flashed the orginal vodafone RUU and went the flashrec way.
At all this took me 3 days to find out that i was unable to use en ENG SPL on my 32B fone.
Anyone knows a trick? If not: please add a note in your tutorial to avoid ENG-SPL's on 32B fones.

Hi, I have a bricked magic 32b (turns on, but stuck at vodafone logo, cant enter recovery or bootloader mode).
I've been told, that maybe jtag method can revive it.
I've found cyanogen magic jtag description (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/JTAG_DREAM_AND_MAGIC), but as far as I can see, it is about the magic 32a.
The engineering spl (Magic 1.33.2009) and the recovery is booth from 32a, I think.
And I think, that the radio posted there (Radio 3.22.26.17) is also for the magic 32a.

I have also just bricked a UK Vodafone Magic doing the SPL.
I had rooted it, going back to cupcake, and then flashed cyangen's latest stable.
I was all a bit confused as the flashboot screen stated 32B, but flashrek report 32A and only the H version of the recovery would run, not the G version
I could also not flash the recovery, but i could boot it via fastboot, and this is where I tried to change the SPL to update.Engineering-SPL-HBOOT-1.33.2004-signed. Upon rebooting mine now also hangs at the VodaFone screen, no matter what I do.
I'm sending it back to the repair centre. It's worth a shot, as I am not buying the hardware for JTAG.

I want ot install CyanogenMod-V5.0.8 (06/19/2010) [update-cm-5.0.8-DS-signed.zip] .
My questions are:
1. Do I need to flash recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0H.img or recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0H-cyan.img? I think I need to do this, via fastboot or adb.
2. Do I need to flash Engineering SPL and what version should I choose? for example, Engineering SPL 1.33.2010 or any other versions? Cyan says that " It's important to know that the "DangerSPL" (or DeathSPL or Haykuro's SPL or whatever you prefer) is a prerequisite for Dream/G1 users. Magic (MT3G etc) users do *not* need to do this." So I think I do not need to flash the Engineering SPL, because only Dream/G1 need to do it.
3. How can I install Google Addons throgh gapps-ds-ERE36B-signed.zip? Does it can be installed through updating from sdcard?
4. Do I need a Kernel Update from the kernel image, Magic 32A/EBI1 Kernel Update[bc-5.0.8-ebi1-signed.zip] ?

FWIW, 1.33.2004 does not work on the MT3G original with the following SPL and radio:
sapphire pvt 32b ship s-on g
hboot-1.33.0006 (sapp3000)
cpld-10
radio-2.22.23.02
nor with the original 2.22.19.261 radio.
1.33.0006 is 'perfected' (fastboot remote not allowed) so I wanted to change it so I could fastboot. I decided to try 1.33.2004 because it was also G (Google branded) instead of H like 2005, 2009, and 2010 (HTC branded).
I am currently running Super E 1.0.3 and Amon_RA recovery 1.7.0G and flashed the SPL thorugh recovery and rebooted. First I noticed that the TMO MyTouch boot screen was in a lower resolution (very pixelated) and the phone stuck there. I could boot into fastboot (power/volume down) and get fastboot remote and when I booted into recovery (power/home) I got a blank, black screen but ADB said I was in recovery.
I tried to use fastboot to fix it to no avail so I finally used Unlockr's revert to cupcake unrooting method, which worked:D:cool: by putting the correct sappimg.nbh on an SD card and booting into hboot and reflashing.
http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/22/how-to-unroot-your-mytouch-3g/
I then used the Unlockr 1-click root procedure and tried downloading 1.33.2004 and flashing again (while still running cupcake) in case the file was bad. The downgrade also downgraded my radio to 2.22.19.261 and I didn't upgrade it in case the newer radio was the problem. Same results so I unrooted once again and flashed 1.33.2005 and it's working perfectly and I can now use fastboot remote!:D (Thank goodness for Bart backups!) I did not try 1.33.2009 or 2010 (and have heard that there are some compatibility issues with some Froyo roms and 2010).
So if you have a stock/rooted MT3g ver1 with a perfected 1.33.0006 do NOT try spl 1.33.2004! Stick with 1.33.2005 or 1.33.2009, which has also been reported to work.

Yeah, you're good with that radio and 1.33.2010. Also, as far as I remember, .0009 isn't perfected - which means you might not need to change your SPL. Also, you can download Recovery Flasher and use it to flash a custom recovery (Amon_Ra's should do fine), reboot to recovery and flash your ROM from there.

BTW, I am trying to get (wireless) wifi tether, if that makes a difference in what to use.

First of all, you need to tell us what the actual problem is. Is it still booting? Then, does it have a 3,5mm audio jack? If so, you've got the MyTouch LE/1.2, which might need a different radio/spl combination.
skoullias
28th July 2010, 01:27 PM
By booting, do you mean does the phone enter into normal operational mode? If so, it does not. When holing down the house key, it will not bypass the "HTC Magic" splash to enter into recovery to finish the process by flashing the update on the sd card. When not holding down the house key, it will not get past the same splash either.
And the sappimg.zip seems to extract/update sometimes, but last night it wasn't.
Also, yes, my phone is the version w the 3.5mm jack.
Any recs on what radio/SPL combo to use?
Is this thread the best place to be asking these questions?
I'd be happy to pay someone to walk me through this process. Please feel free to email me @ skoullias@gmail.com.

Following the tutorial at http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/11/how-to-root-the-mytouch-1-2-and-fender-mytouch/ should get your phone back to a working state. Have fun :)

Thanks keinengel.
This is where I, as I suspect many others have, started. Since I can no longer boot up my phone, I cannot follow the unlockers steps to format the microSD from the phone, which is the very first thing along with setting up ABD to get a working goldcard with a working sappimg file.
Any other suggestions to get this phone back in working order (short of having to get a gold card from someone else's phone, which I wouldn't know how to go about)?

Okay, boot your phone in fastboot by holding down "Back" and pushing "Power". Connect the phone to your computer and enter the following command: fastboot enableqxdm 0
That should switch your phone to S-OFF, allowing you to flash from fastboot. Now flash the stock Fender spl and radio from unlockr it *should* boot again.
Oh, and you're using the wrong recovery image, you need to use the G version, since your phone uses a combination of 32B radio and 32A SPL.
WARNING I own a 32A Magic without the audio jack, which means I have not tested this and can't guarantee it'll work!

I'm hoping someone is able to answer relatively quickly so I don't have to wade through the hundreds of posts in this thread.
I have the HTC Magic PVT32B (Vodafone/Google branded, sold in NZ).
The SPL/Radio is stock.
I've recently flashed to CM 5.0.8, and I'm having huge battery drain issues; up to 90% of my battery in a day can be lost to "Cell Standby" and "Phone Idle" together.
First question is; will flashing the SPL/Radio fix any issues related to battery drain for those two things? Or is there any other advantage to doing so?
Second question; am I safe to flash the latest (Engineering SPL 1.33.2010) of those SPLs/Radios without damaging/bricking my specific phone?
Third question; will it wipe/modify any of the ROM partitions meaning I will need to reflash CM afterwards?
Thank you in advance - it will otherwise take me hours to flick through this thread and find the answers I need.
I'm more than willing to document more of this sort of information into the hacking wiki page if I'm directed to the right information to be able to compile it.

1. No; the only advantage is that you will be able to flash things from fastboot, for example another SPL or a splash screen.
2. Most people flash 1.33.2005 to their 32B phones but it is ONLY necessary for the G1, not mytouch3g!
3. Make a nandroid backup and you are safe.

.
It IS necessary on a MT3G if you want to be able to fastboot since the stock 1.33.0006 and later are perfected (fastboot remote not allowed).
While it is true you can root such a phone and run different roms without changing the SPL and even change the boot screen once you get a custom recovery like Amon_RA loaded not having the ability to fastboot the phone does leave you open to the possibility that you can get your phone into a state that you cannot recover from. Just look at the large number of people that had difficulties with the Cyanogen Éclair builds and the problems of flashing recovery without fastboot.

Haha, you make me laugh. Yes if you want advanced features, such as fastboot then it is necessary. But if all you want is a custom ROM then no, you do not need it like the g1 does.
Oh btw, they could have flashed a SAPPIMG.nbh throught fastboot without an engineering SPL. Sorry.

The mt3g 1.2 does not work with an engineering SPL (at least not fully). That is why you revert to stock when rooting.

If you are going to play around with roms then it's debatable if fastboot is an 'advanced' feature. IMHO, it is more of a necessity.
Also, isn't it hboot that checks the SD card for SPPHIMG.nbh and not fastboot, which is a different menu? (correct me if I am wrong on this)
You don't even need it on the G1, You can downgrade and use flashrec to flash a new recovery and rom (1 click root) and with the script that Firerat came up with for creating custom partitions you can even run roms that require the Danger spl (which is nothing more than the 1.33.2005 spl from the magic that happens to work on a dream.) but if you are going to play with that you better have an engineering spl so you can fastboot remote just in case something screws up. As someone who started working in the computer industry in the 70's, before Microsoft even had DOS and only had a buggy BASIC and an addon CPM card for Apple ][ computers to sell and Linux wasn't even conceived I can tell you that if something can screw up it will!

Actually it's the same thing.
But like you said. Even the g1 does not need it anymore.
Doesn't need the "danger" spl to run most roms but this has nothing to do with fastboot abilities. The main reason the g1/dream needed the danger spl was to give it more memory to fit a larger rom than that device originally allowed for (such as the Hero roms) at the expense of /cache. Having an engineering spl (not the same at all as "danger death, Haykuro" aka 1.33.2005 magic spl, since there are engineering spls for the dream/g1 that are not "danger death Haykuro") is still a good idea so you can fastboot. Being able to remote fastboot really gives you control of you phone and allows to to recover from bad or wrong flashes much more easily.
Think of it as insurance for you phone. You might never need it but IF you do you are glad you have it!

I flashed from SPL 1.33.0006 to 1.33.2005 (found in the beginning of this thread) using Amon_RA 1.7.0 to flash. Only caution, don't try 1.22.2004, it doesn't work on the MT3G! Main reason I flashed is in my earlier posts. I wanted to be able to fastboot remotely and 1.33.0006 is perfected but you can still do a 1-click root with it.
BTW, I have also flashed new boot animations many times with 1.33.0006 SPL by flashing from recovery.
It's just a whole lot safer to be able to fast boot in case anything goes wrong!

The Engineering SPL is a custom SPL installed in devices intended for Android development. It has existed since before the launch of the G1 and is now available to the general public as preinstalled on the Android Dev Phone 1, the official development device sold by Brightstar Corp. This SPL, in addition to flashing signed NBH files, can also flash nand dumps through the use of the fastboot protocol (as defined in the legacy bootloader documentation). This is a convenient way to flash the mtd partitions and can be greatly useful in the event that an undesirable build of Android is advertently or inadvertently installed.

I reccommend you read quite a lot more before you start toying with your phone or you'll end up bricking it. This may help (don't know if you have a 32b or 32a board but this would be a good start to learn about adb and fastboot):

This SPL is the first part of the T-mobile OTA Froyo update for 32B. I have no idea whether it's necessary to run the new t-mo Froyo or what. There's also a new radio that comes with the update. 2.22.23.08, I think?

Hi to all...
I´m currently have a 32B Magic, running TMO Ota... Spl 1.33.0013...
I´m really pissed off that ADB doesen´t run with the original SPl.
So I decide to create an Engineering SPL which is already based of the originial!
It works just fine for me :o) Full ADB !!!

Ok, i see this going in the right direction. Can you describe how this SPL is created? Also I would be curious to hear if anyone else tried this.
Thx,

I've just opend all engineering spl with hexeditor...there i saw, that all one are similar in line 2 or 3...than i look the original one and saw there would be a difference - so only changed this line to turn perfect into engineerimg.. after flashing it shows S-on-G allready but you'll have full adb permissions

According to first post, S-ON prevents downgrade. Is there a similar flag that would give S-OFF?

adb works with a perfect SPL.
With you 0013 SPL can you flash a ROM/Radio/splashscreen/whatever on your phone ?
Or event boot a recovery via fastboot ?

Is there not an Eng spl that will work to replace the .0013 spl i want to be able to use fastboot features
cyans wiki states not to replace original spl because you will lose sound to the earpiece

I think the problem is that any devs that know how to modify the SPL and make 0013 into an engineering version have long moved on to other phones. I'd love to help but I haven't even found any info on how to extract the SPL to look at it.

The true ENG versions where always leaked.. Hard SPLs aren't but that is another mater. The 0013 doesn't even contain most of the code for being an eng SPL so there is not much to hack with.
There exists somewhere in the world a 1.33.2011 and 1.33.2013 (and not the one that is really 1.33.2005) find it we will be good :D

What functions do I lose by running an eng.spl I have unrooted my touch 1.2 and was forced to change to 1.33.0010 to get past the "main version older" fastboot but when I fastboot flashed the sappimg it restored my 1.33.0013 spl so I didn't get to test what was working or not.
Ezterry would you look at this spl and tell me is it the real 1.33.2013?

Its 1.33.2005 relabeled to look like 1.33.2013 (the bytes at the end of the modified file are "CrioS" btw)
I actually find this very annoying since I keep finding it in all my google searches. Basically for some reason he thought this could get around the "installer" assert to allow the MT3G ota rom to install on the phone without the perfected SPL.
Well of course it will let the installer go (but so does removing the assert from the updater script and resigning the zip file)
The kernel however is unable to boot with the SPL since 1.33.2005 dosn't know how to boot from base address 0x02000000 only 0x10000000 when used with a 2.22 radio; and the new sapphire (and my ported kernels) have the lower base address
Keep in mind 1.33.0013 is the SPL MT3G 1.2 (fender) users have used (read: stuck with) for a long time.. actually my version 1.33.0013d may be useful to fender users it will allow for 'fastboot erase system -w' to work when they switch roms and want a cleaner wipe to avoid various subsequent errors. (maybe they wish to wait until cyanogen adds 1.33.0013d to the accepted SPL list)

copy adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll and AdbWinUsbApi.dll from sdk tools and put it in same directory as your fastboot stuff

OK so I've fallen at the first hurdle.
I have downloaded the 2004 SPL coppied the ZIP file to the SD card and booted into fast boot. I don't get an option to Apply SD card I only get:
HBOOT Mode
Reset Device
Restart to Hboot
Power down
When I click the HBOOT mode it flashes up a load of text that dissapears very quickly but basically says 'No image' several times.
The info at the top is as follows: -

Ok quick question. Can I use this method to root an original tmo mytouch. I will have version numbers tonight.
I was thinking, if I can fastboot boot custom recovery as stated. Flash spl. Then fastboot flash custom recovery. At this point I should be able to boot into recovery and flash any rooted rom I want.
Am I missing something here?

Hi guys
I have a problem :D
I have an HTC Magic PVT 32B (Magic Vodafone), for 2 years I do with it all that I want, SPLs, Recoveries, ROMs but.... the last time I make an error, device soft bricked. However I successfully create a goldcard and my device resuscitating but... stock firmware 1.5 (Cupcake).
Now I want to install AmonRa recovery, radio, etc.
The problem is that now
fastboot boot recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img
downloading 'boot.img'... OKAY
booting... OKAY
does not work, the device rebooted but it stops with the vodafone logo for infinite time (I wait for 20 minutes). I have to pull out the battery.
then I flash the recovery, Installation successfully but HOME + POWER have the same result (vodafone logo for infinite time).
